Steam Sales Elsewhere on CAG - Updated 11/2

Indie Bundle Threads - Updated 8/26

Free Stuff - Needs Updating

There are quite a few free and free2play games and mods on steam. You can find a full list here. Note that free games are not permanently attached to your Steam account like actual purchases would be. You'll need to manually download a game again from the website if you uninstall it.

Visit www.steamgamesales.com to check previous sale prices on Steam games. We do keep track of some older sales here though:

Steam Trading Cards Group
Announcement

New Feature: Trading Forums
We have a new feature available in the Steam Community Hubs: Trading Forums. You can find a trading forum in any game's Community Hub under the "Discussions" tab, making it an ideal place to look for trading cards for those games.

These forums also work with Trade Offers: If you have a publicly visible inventory, anyone reading your Trade forum topic will be able to send you a trade offer, even if they're not on your Steam friends list. Once you're done with your Trade topic, you can close the topic to prevent further trade offers from it. You can also find a list of your open trade topics from your Trade Offers page.

The rules for trade forums are a little different from general forums: posts do not get "bumped" when someone replies, and you are limited to one post per day in each trading forum.

If you've got any feedback on the new Trading forums, be sure to leave a note in the discussions area.

Trading-forum bump rules?? OMGsus, they got those now?

I know you ain't referring to me, but what I like to do:

I often do "EDITS" these days, to add more to a post so I don't triple-post.

Formatting and colors get fucked up no less than 25% of the time when I edit big, lengthy posts.

Sssshhhhh don't ruin the mystery.

We thought you were schizophrenic. Or that Zed guy from Police Academy.

Don't take that image away from me.

No, what I said before was untrue -- some might even call it a lie.

You should carry on your beliefs like a terrorist boarding a bus.

What cha think, guys?

Have we seen better pricing on this?

Do any of you have and like this drive for running games on?

Speak your piece!
Tigerdirect has rebate bundles with this bullshit Total Defense AV software sometimes. Its garbage but I have gotten x2 1TB Western Digital hard drives for $25 each after rebate. Also snagged a 3TB hard drive for $60. It's worth it if you dont mind waiting for rebate around 1 month. Anyway Black Friday is really close and I'm sure we will see 3TB internal/externals for under $100 bucks. (Last year Amazon had some for $80-$95 if I remember correctly.)

I have two of these in my Linux desktop in a RAID 1 (mirror) config. (Edit: and yes, I do run all my games on here.)

Nice fast drives, good price, large capacity, no problems so far (four months in).

I *think* I got them for $10 more each, so $80 would be a good price for them.

I was thinking about picking up a new hdd for game storage. Then I deleted everything in my permanent backlog. Most of it was indie crap, but there were enough large titles in there that I think I can hold out a bit longer...

Unrelated: is it possible to multiquote on mobile?

A free Steam key is worth an upvote from me ^_^

Then again, didn't McPixel do that too :cold:

I take full credit for this ;)

Bought one around 6ish months ago. Works fine, faster than my old one, . Fills up too fast though.

I personally won't buy Western Digital, since I used to work for them and got outsourced. Unfortunately, this was before the television made that fashionable.

Wolf Among Us looks like its gonna be pretty great. Probably the darkest, seediest thing that Telltale has done so far, Im diggin it way more than Walking Dead. Looks like a Alan Moore/Frank Miller comic come to life.

I'm like 2 hours in myself, it's really fun! I'm not familiar with the source material, but it doesn't really seem to be matter.

Is it necessary to seek out Playboys? I'm not into top-heavy bright-eyed blondes sans ass and thighs.
I know you're being semi-facetious, but it's era-appropriate Playboy (i.e. 50s-70s). Less silicone; more va-va-voom.

It's also been over a year since I played the Mafias but I vastly preferred the gloss of the second one over what felt like every mob-movie cliche in the book of the first one. And christ, yes, the early cars in Mafia 1 were horrifically realistically slow and whalelike in maneuverability. 2 also made me appreciate more how ready and willing we are to step into the shoes of total sociopaths in games.

Finally, benbuja bloopers!

For that to happen Capcom would have to learn the meaning of "humble" first. I wouldn't hold my breath.
EA, supposedly one of the worst companies in the world, did it. I'd say it's only a matter of time for Capcom. It just might be a little harder since a lot of their games have GFWL.

yeaaaahhh... but EA had the added benefit of getting people to add games to their Origin service. I imagine it made their usage numbers look better, to some degree anyway.

Will there ever be a day when people stop trying to trade their 1 dollar bundle games for full retail games? Im really getting sick of seeing people ask for double the money on their shitty bundle keys that no one wants. Too many guys just wishing for a complete gaming noob to come in and trade their copy of Skyrim/Bio Infinite for a copy of limbo/super meat boy. Do people think thats gonna happen?  The buy/sell thread is gettin worse than the steam forums.

So you don't want my Bastion key in exchange for Half Life 3? I don't care that it's not out. Make it yourself. Then trade me it.

Edit: Yeah, people are idiots. You're hard pressed to get a quarter for a bundle game, let alone anything substantial. I mean, I had Tomb Raider (2013) a while back. People wanted to pay me five bucks for it. Yeah, you're not getting 2.50 for Mark of the Ninja.

Having recently been in other steam trade forums, CAG's is infinitely better imo. That said, the other sites do appear to be leaking a bit :???: . It still boggles my mind that some users here think they can get dollars (plural) for most bundle keys, let alone these newbies coming in asking for multiple tf2 keys.

The worst part is that they're our friends so we can't simply ignore all of their posts just because of a little tomfoolery.

It's like: "Yo, that's a banana not a plantain. Get ya mind right, son."

If anyone sold their shit then it'd be a non-issue.

I browsed that thread, looks like they're mad cause they were told they have to pre-order at full price to get the bonus game. Maybe they would have waited for a price drop otherwise. I think there's always a chance and even likelihood that a pre-order bonus will be for sale later on, they should have seen it coming.
Just out of curiosity... has there ever been a pre-order bonus that DIDN'T show up later as a purchasable item? (Not counting bonuses that were later given away free; I'm wondering about some unique piece of content that could only be acquired through a pre-order and never ever ever ever ever ever afterwards.)

PS: Ever.

Lol, I made this post in the wrong thread:

I'm up for putting people on blast for crappy Trade forum posts. What? You put Medal of Honor origin key up, and asked for two dollars?!? YOU ARE ON BLAST, SIR! Somebody quotes the post and puts them on blast. If the post gets more than five likes, the poster is silenced for three days.

Welp, now that's in the steam trading forum. Maybe people will be on board.

I have an extremely unhealthy desire for this, http://store.steampowered.com/app/245470/ to the point where I'd seriously almost consider the full price.  I'm not going to do that because I haven't lost my mind yet, but I'm a sucker for the sort of game where you get to build your own entirely out of control narrative through a series of what seemed like good ideas at the time.

I'm all about CAGs getting cash but I'm not about reading a practically unchanged and apparently Elmer's-influenced post that was penned six month ago.

As hard as I tried, I couldn't dig any narrative out of Democracy 2 beyond "everything I do ends badly."

Now that I think about it, it's probably a pretty accurate government sim.

Liked it more than the Political Machine series, enough to get D3 when it goes on sale in November 2014.

The thing that I don't get is when people post the same list day after day forever, and don't decrease prices or anything. After awhile I kind of give up. If nobody bites after a few weeks I just give my games away.

I was feelin' you up until you said that last part. That's un-American!

Unrealistic prices don't bother me as much as unalphabetized lists.
The prices are just for laughs but
