Free Stuff - Needs Updating

There are quite a few free and free2play games and mods on steam. You can find a full list here. Note that free games are not permanently attached to your Steam account like actual purchases would be. You'll need to manually download a game again from the website if you uninstall it.

Nope, that one popped on there and reminded me. I guess this is kind of a belated post...I've been eyeing that for a bit though. glad I haven't gotten it yet. But I recently got Anachronox, Startopia, and one or two others that were on sale recently. They all went onto Steam right after the sales, or close to it. Which is probably why they were on sale in the first place.

Anachronox and Startopia are fun games. Still have the original disks on my wall. While it sucks, you'll likely be able to pick them up on Steam for $1 at some point more than likely.

What's everybody's opinions on these stardock games? I have mild interest in all of them, am debating buying the whole pack. But then don't you know there's gonna be a stardock humble bundle in like a week after this probably.
If I were to go after any, it would be these:

- Galactic Civilization II: Ultimate Edition

- Sins of a Solar Empire: Rebellion

- Fallen Enchantress: Legendary Heroes (Not Fallen Enchantress)

The rest don't matter so much.

I'm really hoping Dark Souls jumps on board the Games Without Windows Live bandwagon and drops it. Then has a sale for 5 dollars or less, so I can cream myself and buy it.

You don't have to redownload it all, actually. Delete your current in-progress download, and copy the CookedPC folder from steamapps\common\batman2 to "steamapps\common\Batman Arkham City GOTY". Then try to install the game. Steam will see all the stuff that's already been downloaded and grab the rest.
You totally sure about this? I really hesitate to cancel my download and lose the 3.4GB of progress I've made.

I have a 8.36GB folder called steamapps\common\batman2\BmGame\CookedPCConsole, that's the one you're referring to?

I'm gonna play it safe and let the whole thing download, it'll be done within 4-7ish hours.

The savegame from Batman:AC Vanilla will be unusable, though, correct?

Or you just won't get Steam achievements retroactively?

I actually did this earlier today and Steam continued the download, but I stopped it because I needed the hard drive space. Doh. >_>

I suggest doing this only if you haven't started downloading the GOTY version yet.

There's a way to get the savegames working (see hal's post) but I have no idea about the achievements.

Pretty much this.

Worrrrd. Jakenome has the pack for 12 bucks, so I think I'll bite on that. Thanks for the input

I'm surprised there hasn't been a clamor for an Anachronox sequel the way there has been for Beyond Good & Evil. I think watching all the Anachronox cutscenes strung together was my first exposure to machinima. I liked it but if you hate the Final Fantasy ATB-style (7/8/9?) combat, stay away.

That's mostly because people didn't think such a thing would ever be possible.

But ever since the game's been available at more stores...

Great news about the Batman games. Already played and beat both on xbox, but I'd like to play them again sometime down the line.

Question. Has anybody figured out a way to convert their Steam Wallet funds into real funds? The only way I can think of is to buy a 4-pack and get 3/4 of the cost back in paypal funds. Normally I'd do that here, but JakeNome's prices are so good, who would want to participate in a more expensive 4-pack? JakeNome's prices are the reason why I want to convert Steambucks to real bucks in the first place!

Hahaha I feel ya there, I need to get rid of my Gabenbucks because Jakenome always has those sweet, delicious deals.

For a percent hit (10%?) you could give it right to Jake. Just have him put up a card at the price of your funds, then buy it. Otherwise, yeah, the best way would be to group buy a 4 pack.

Golden Joysticks free game registration is back on.
I'm giving up on these motherfuckers...

All I get is:

Oooops.

It seems there was a problem.
Can you please try to register your details again, as we encountered a glitch in the matrix.

And its all I've gotten for about a week straight now...

FYI: That Stardock pack has Fallen Enchantress... Not Fallen Enchanters: Legendary Heroes so you might want to pick that up separately.

Edit: Can anyone tell me if the Legendary Heroes DLC or Sins of the Solar Empire DLC is worth it?

Also very interested in the DLCs. Considering picking up these two games, but wondering whether I should wait for the inevitable "Ultimate" editions.

BTW, the Endless Space DLC is now showing at 75% off/$2.50.

Grabbed ES dlc not sure if the 75% off is a temporary mistake or not.

On the subject of Sins and LH dlc. From what I've read the Sins Forbidden World DLC is worth it, and as for LH. I would say the map DLC is very much worth it and I read the Quest dlc was worth it as well so I picked that up. The Loot dlc from what I've read is skippable and not worth it.

Big Bad Bundle 2 is coming this Sunday! Pay at least 1USD to get a hilarious point and click adventure, a gnarly puzzle platformer with lots of blood and a frustrating but rewarding punishment platformer featuring a ninja. Pay $5 or more to also get a post apocalyptic FPS, a retro style JRPG, a Zelda style game and a shooter featuring some boats with really big guns. More info soon
Hopefully the ninja game is Super House of Dead Ninjas.. that'd be worth a dollar.

Was just about to post about this. checked the forums and a rep from the studios started posting in there. They said it was not intentional to not have the DLC on sale as well so they had steam correct it. BS or not, who knows, but at least its a reasonable price now

I'm guessing it's not. I would love to see an Adult Swim Humble Weekly though.

Oh what I would give for that

If anyone wants a cheap copy of Batman AC GOTY, you can get the non-GOTY edition from Get Games Go for $4.59 (it activates on Steam), and it SHOULD (I haven't tested it) give you the GOTY upgrade for free after activating.

http://getgamesgo.com/product/batman-arkham-city

This combined with the GMG sale makes it $8.59 for AA + AC.
I'll confirm that buying the non-GOTY game from GetGamesGo gives you a Steam copy of the GOTY game.

Bought it and now I have two entries for Batman AC in my Steam Library:

Batman: Arkham City (tm)

Batman: Arkham City GOTY

Looks like two different installs, ~17GB and ~19GB (GOTY), so take that for whatever its worth.

Some crazy ass fool just bought my Dead Island axe emoticon for 3 cents. Maybe he's the same fool that bought my Batman card for .37.

Time to see if my hex edited vanilla Arkham City save works in GOTY.

My Arkham City vanilla save was successfully imported into the steamworks GOTY edition, and it even unlocked 7 achievements! I followed this guide: http://forums.steampowered.com/forums/showpost.php?p=35012694&postcount=97

Interesting.  After getting Mafia II from the Golden Joystick awards, GMG sent me a coupon for 75% off the DLC pack (about $8) and said that it would give me $2 credit in rewards.

Question is, is the DLC worth $8?

The only DLC worth buying are Jimmy's Vendeta and Joe's Adventure.. so the pack isn't that great of a deal. The other DLC is just extra cars and clothes.

Now we know why GMG gave away Mafia 2. I wonder if they'll do a similar promo for Civ 5?
