gamestop ps3/360 used systems $150 with free $20 game

So I called 6 gamestops. They are all saying that they don't convert consoles in store and that they get them preboxed and sealed form the warehouse as refurbished and that they can't open them. Is this policy? or are they giving me the run around?

I would reccommend square trade's waranty for anyone buying a used console. Square trade always has extra promotion code savings, so you end up only paying 1/3 of hat price compared to gamestop's overpriced warranty.

Yeah, they are a much nicer price. I do like GS's no hassle, in-store on the spot replacement though- this has been my experience at least. I'm really having a hard time deciding on getting a 60GB or not which would for sure require a warranty- it is basically not if, but when on those right?

anyone? Is it really the luck of the draw? Can you return a 'refurbished' console if the box is opened?

Why in the hell would they do that?

Think about it. Pay to ship it to a "warehouse" to open it, then pay to ship it back in a box that already gets supplied to stores?

Oh, I know it doesn't make sense, but how can 6 locations be THAT misinformed? I'm just going to give up. I wanted to replace my 40 gig, but this is a PITA.

I went to my local GameStop and got a 320 ps3 slim. I haven't tried it out but the guy was nice said perhaps it was a converted system and he opened up the box to checked it out before he sold it to me. This was marked as a refurbished system but the cables and controller were still in plastic which he said might mean it's one of those converted systems. It came in a refurbished gs box but everything looks new. It also had a promo paper, and manual of some kind. So basically it looks like they took the contents and put it on a refurbished box..

I'm not trying to cause a problem but I think maybe the gs employees are just denying shady practice. Like how they sell "new" games but open every box and store the discs in a drawer; it irritates me cause I like opening things that are new and shiny but it's not something I get worked up about

I picked a white 500GB myself today. The guy also let me switch out the controller, he mentioned the white one was a bit dirty so he can either clean it for me real quick or I can choose one of the other pre-owned controllers. i decided to go with a blue controller instead.

I'm pretty happy with my purchase, but if there's a better Black Friday sale than this, we can still return the system as long as the holiday return window is open right?

Quick note, if you guys are looking for the just the slim model, the latest model would be 3001-B, I believe. You can find that number, back where the serial number is located.

The new super slim design is way too noisy when it loads!

I should have not have a problem returning(refunding in credit) PS3 I got from this right? I don't see why not but just to make sure .
Seen this asked a few times without Answer. While the receipt does have the new extended return dates, is there any issue in returning one of these ps3s "just because"? I'm having buyers remorse with next gen right on the horizon-BUT I want to play through Last of Us and not rush it and return within a week (normal return policy.

I know what it means for games, but they are telling me they don't do that in store for systems. That they send them to some warehouse, the warehouse guts them and sends them back boxed.
This is incorrect. I bought two Splinter Cell Conviction XBox 360 Console Bundles early last year that were converted to used and it works just like when they convert games. The Console Bundles were in their original packaging in the same display spot as when they were new. Never sent to a warehouse, never reboxed, never sent back. Just FYI that you're employees might be misinformed or might be confusing the process they go through with consoles that are traded-in with consoles that are converted from New to Used (maybe because it doesn't happen often?)...

So is it worth getting a 60 or 80GB BC ps3? I've heard the ALL get YLOD
Yeah the original models suffered from those issues. Unless you really want to play your PS2 games, I would say no. Some of the HD collections are already amazing for PS3!

I've seen it asked a few times with answer.
I checked the last 10 pages, and did a search for "return." Maybe you could try helping instead of being a snide jerk.

Austin cags on the hunt, Brodie GS has a lot of 320gb ps3s left, when I asked the clerk did a stock check and got wide eyed, "ohhhhh yeah, we have a few..."

His conversation mentioned refurbishing. That probably confused them. It's not converting refurbished to pre-owned.
I didn't mention refurbished, they did. I said "Do you have any NEW 320 GB PS3s that converted to used?" On the next call to another store I said ""Do you have any NEW 320 GB PS3s that converted to pre-owned?" The next store I said: "Do you have any 320 PS3s that are basically new, but being sold as used 'like when you convert games'"...and so on. It doesnt matter now, since I cant get the coupon anymore.

Still on the fence about getting a 4GB Xbox. I really would like to play Halo 4 and Gears of War 3 & Judgement. I don't have any use for it outside of that. I have a PS3 so I can play everything coming out, I just don't know how long it's going to take Xbox One to port these over or let me play digital titles I had already purchased on my old 360.

i hate to burst your bubble, but Microsoft has already said Xbox One will not be backwards compatible due to completely different system architecture. I'd say it is worth it to if you want to play halo 4 and some previous purchases. Anything else you are interested on Xbox 360 will also be very cheap cause of the next gen consoles.

I plan on doing something similar, I'm going to finish off halo 4 and some of my Xbox backlog and switch to ps3 as my main console. Mostly because I don't want to pay for Xbox live anymore in order to play a few online games and use Netflix. I don't understand why Gold is required for Netflix and other services you have to pay for but that's what I have ps3 now

You shouldn't have let them stay on that. Just ask for 320 GB PS3 that comes with original box then ask if one was New right before that.

I know they and ps3 have said similar things (ps3 cloud streaming coming later), but does anyone expect the AAA publishers to quickly push out rehashed versions of this gens games? I know nothing of game design so am unaware of actually how expensive/labor intensive it would be-but these companies loooove money, so should we expect next gen ports of halo 4, gears of war series within a year or two?

I currently have a 80 GB Metal Gear Solid softfware backwards compatible PS3 which I bought new from Walmart.com as they were selling the last bit of stock.  I got a Walmart extended warranty too at that time, had the disc drive quit working a few months before the extended warranty ended, it wouldn't read anything I put in it.  It took about a week and a half to get it fixed (shipped to a west coast repair place) and it is good as new.

I ordered a 60 GB hardware backwards compatible PS3 and free game with this deal.  I've wanted the emotion engine chip system for quite some time.  Too bad they don't offer the extended warranty online, I also tried SquareTrade and they said. "Unfortunately, we won’t be able to offer a Care Plan as it is a refurbished PS3 purchased from a retail website  We also cover used and refurbished items, but only if purchased from eBay. We do not cover used items from retail stores, or any items from classified ads, websites like Craigslist, or other person-to-person sales."

If anyone wants a certain PS3, they can order it in-store, and they will have it shipped to your house within 7-10 business days. The preowned game will be sent along with the system.

$120 for a 4G Slim 360 with a free game seems like a really good deal, but I've always been wary of used systems from Gamestop. What's everyone's experience been like?

i see he is still stay true to his beliefs, " Flipper & Reseller 4 life" is in his motto. lol
I guess he didn't have room for "Flipper & Reseller 4 life, unless someone like a Best Buy employee flips and resells, and in that case I'm going to contact Prima and Brady and make sure that no one ever gets another penny strategy guide ever again because I'm selfish and if I can't get in on a deal, then no one should ever get in on a deal ever again."

It's kind of a long run-on sentence, so I guess it wouldn't fit in his motto.

I just picked up a refurbished Modern Warfare 2 Xbox 360 console, and man, it is going back to the store. It is the Modern Warfare 2 console, but it has a plain black face plate, noticeable scratches all over the sides, and a white controller. Didn't think it would look this bad.

If my store has new 320 GB's will it scan pre-owned now? Or do you just have to check the pre-owned boxes they already have and hope there is a new one? I saw someone mention getting the 320GB Move bundle as used that was still new. My store has one. Just making sure what the situation is before I go.

Go and have them scan the bundle. Its UPC should be linked to the preowned SKU now, so long as it's the right bundle and they simply failed to do the conversion.

Hey all I exchanged my 250 gb for a 500 gb today, and I was wondering if any of yours came packaged with the foam holders and bubbles in the box? Just curious if I hit the jackpot or not :)

Jackpot. Is it white? Could be a converted Instant Game Collection bundle. The packaging advertised the old evergreen set. Haven't ever seen it reported as converted, but I wouldn't be surprised.

Do the refurbished consoles come back with GS tamper proof seals or not?  I'm just looking to see if I can identify a true "refurbished" from a repackaged new console.

I believe you're right! It is the black super slim version. All but one of the cords came in the plastic wrap, and the controller and system both look completely new. Needless to say I am very satisfied with my exchange

Damn, when I picked my white 500GB, I saw a 320GB move bundle. I didn't realize there was a possibility that those got converted as well.
