i've already been stocking up on discounted games and accessories for my baby brother's Christmas present. TRU and GS BF ads aren't as good as this. Do I bite now or wait to see what other Black Friday ads come up?
Do you REALLY think you're going to find a better deal than this? Even for Black Friday, this is better than one could hope for. I'd bite, otherwise you'll be regretting it later when you have to shell out $300. Trust me, it's not getting any better than this.

I would've gotten it if there wasn't sales tax in California. Maybe at $200.
And maybe would've bought a PS4 if it was only $150 too huh? $250 for an 8th gen console less than a year old, with 2 games, is a great deal. I bought one for $350 and it was a great deal. You want $200, you're gonna have to wait til the end of this generation. That's my prediction anyways.

Ummm.. I got my Wii U for a sub $200 value this week at Kmart after doing a little work.

They are selling Kmart Gift Cards essentially $25 for $30 (i.e. buy a $25 gift card get a bonus $5 reward card [I live in Maine and these don't expire]).

So I bought $25 x 12 = $300 and got $5 x 12 = $60.

I then paid $315 inlcuding tax for my Wii U and was left with $60 in bonus gift cards. Kmart has a promotion where you get $30 (i.e. 30,000 points) when you buy any Wii U so that printed on the receipt. I also had a bonus coupon for 15% back in points. So on top of the $30 for the Wii U promotion I got another $45

so in conclusion I spent $315 OOP and got $60 in bonus gift card sand $75 in SWYR points.

That destroys this.

That's quite a lot of effort. One could also buy the Skylander's bundle at Gamespot (game, little plastic figures, $25 gift card, Nintendo Land) and sell it's contents, but what a fuss.

I think I am gonna wait on this console, maybe next year, see how the games library pans out. This deal is decent but not great. I have a lot of unplayed games and pokemon bank is coming out in December and I really don't need to buy more things when I am busy with what I have.

I would bite at $199 though, but I really don't want to pay more than that for this console.

It's not out of the question that someone might bundle 1 or 2 other games worth $50 with it in the future or just outright give a $50 GC with it if it tanks even worse with ps4 and xb1 out. But I would have bought it at $250 if I had the chance.

You have to wonder how low they can really go since they are basically giving a console more powerful than 360 or ps3 AND remote play capable gamepad with a 6" touch screen display.

I'm not sure PS3 and 360 cost a whole lot to make these days, and Wii U might cost the same or only slightly more to make because of technological progress and hindsight and what not. I'm curious--I wonder if the gamepad might be the most expensive bit in the Wii U package? And the gamepad itself doesn't have a lot of "brains" in it or anything, just streams.

I am talking 99-100% out of my butt here, though, just so you know. :)

Uso ja nai! ("It's not a lie!" Uso means lie in Japanese. I think. You probably know this.) I thought seriously about that one, but the sales tax and having to shop at Kmart killed it for me. I'm happy I waited and got this, though maybe better deals will come along.

Glad I got in. It says 84 sold. Not a big stock compared to what sold at $250. I wonder if they ended it on purpose or if 84 was all they had? I got in around the 55-60 mark.

Thanks, OP, and thank you whomever reported the second deal, which is the one I got!
You cracked the code. Everyone thought my user name is related to USo_Org. I got mine in Delaware, so no tax.

Yeeeaahhh, you're not all that bright, are you? Seriously. The $60 you got from buying 12 gift cards has absolutely nothing to do with the price of the Wii U, that's its own separate thing. What you got was a Wii U that cost $315, plus the $30 for the promotion that Kmart was running, so it winds up being $315 with a $30 Kmart gift card, which makes it $275 if you do a lot of shopping there and need the store credit. The 15% coupon came from somewhere completely unrelated to the Wii U.

It's like me saying I spent $40 on 4 copies of Michael Phelps last year and traded them in to Half.com for $50 each, then had a friend use his Target employee discount to pick up a Wii U, so I got it for $160 out of pocket, so other stores have to match that $160 price for it to be a deal. You had to put in some legwork to get that, which you said yourself. Credit you got from other promotions have no bearing on the price of a Wii U.

It all depends on if the gamepad does any processing on its own. As far as I know it doesn't, everything is handled by the Wii U. Still, it's a good size touchscreen, so it will cost more than the PS3 or 360 controller, this has to be factored in to the cost. If the 360 and PS3 are being sold for $200, it would make sense that the Wii U with a gamepad would cost a bit more.

In this day and age , the tablet gamepad should have an N-trig or Wacom digitizer and act as a controller. Also , remember that the Wii U does not have a real HDD.

True, but Sony is selling a PS3 with 12GB of internal storage for $200, and Microsoft sells its 4GB console for $200. I'm sure Black Friday will see better deals than that, but you're still getting a 32GB system that's on paper more powerful than both systems plus a touchscreen pad, so I don't think $250 is all that unreasonable.

I can buy a 1 TB laptop HDD for around $50 and put it inside the PS3.. Some PS3 games (Beyond) also use a tablet if you have one. I'd prefer to buy a tablet separately rather than be forced to buy it with a console.

If I want to use a 1 TB HDD on the Wii U , I'd need to get an external USB one. The biggest problem with that is that I'd be capped to USB 2.0 speeds rather than SATA I speeds (as in the case with the PS3).

Nintendo could have given us a USB 3.0 port or an eSATA port if they didn't want to handicap the system even further.

Y u in this thread then.

I agree HDDs shouldn't really factor in. The PS3s that come with HDDs have been bought in vast quantity by Sony for probably $10 each. (again talking out my butt though)

Says your fairytale world. Lmfao.
The Wii U is special because of the games that will be coming out in 2014 and after. $249.99 is too much for outdated technology though.

I'm waiting for the $199.99 price.

Maybe you are retarded.

How can you say that the $60 in promo gift cards has no bearing on the Wii U promotion?

I didn't say I spent any less then $315 did I? I said I spent $315 and got over a $100 return on my purchase.... which is true. I now have an extra $60 in GC and $75 in points... all which have no restrictions (YMMV... promo gift cards expire in some states).

Yes it took a whole ten minutes to buy the gift card. Ouch...........

This isn't a "I got it for $200 because I redeemed a gift card I got for my birthday... derp" this is a 100% replicable deal with the only YMMV aspect being what coupon you have in your SYWR account that will stack with the $30 in points promotion.

at the very least everyone would get $60 in bonus gift cards from the gift card promotion and then $30 in points ($90 value). Unless you are retarded (certainly a possibility) and you don't know how to buy gift cards (or locate them) how can you not string the deals together?
