Thought I'd go ahead and create a topic for Minnesota. As usual, be sure to include specific info such as the store's location when posting a deal (and of course, information about the deal itself). Enjoy! :)

This thread needs more activity! So I saw this on craigslist if anyone is interested

http://minneapolis.craigslist.org/hnp/vgm/3197364253.html

Might end up being a good find, but I just didn't want to go check it out without some more information or at least something to go on...

Here is my email exchange with the guy for reference:

Me: Just curious as if these are still available, any additional details, and what you were looking to get for em.
Him: Not sure what I want I'd need someone to come take a look and see what there all worth
Me: Is it like a bunch of GameStop throw away/cleaning stock games? Where at?
Him: Idk what that is but im I. Minneapolis
Me: Oh, I was just wondering where ya got em since the picture is of a store shelf. Figured you got lucky with a manager who was tossing the excess stock.
Him: Just a stock photo
Me: Ah, well is there any info on them at all? Like used/new, older/newer, non-shovelware (children's games), etc?
Him: All adult games used not sure from when
Me: Ok, well is there any more info you can provide about em (like exact games or something; even a non stock picture of em so I can get an idea); I'm not far away, I just don't wanna waste gas for nothing.
Him: Idk much about em either come check wm out or I'll wait for the next person
Me: Ok, oh well; I just like to have a little bit more information before going on craigslist chases; just a policy of mine. Had too many times been a waste after following up on posts without details. Thanks anyways.
if they arent willing to at least take a picture of the games for everyone to see its probably not worth the effort
Exactly my thinking; thats why I'm leaving it here

EDIT: Oh ya, I forgot we had another MN CAG in BGCQ, awesome
EDIT 2: and another 8 yearer at that! I've got you beat by a week though!

like 10 minutes from you too. I'm just north of 394 between 100 and 169

edit: I fought against having to use steam with tooth and nail back in 2003. I hated it. I was a hardcore firearms player and wanted to stay on Won forever.

Yep, I'm just off of 394 (like half-mile south) between 100 and 169, lol. I used to live in Crystal too; and I'm out there alot since a good friend of mine moved there now.

Anyone have any luck locating :360: Dead Rising 2: Off the Record at $9.99 at Best Buy? I think the consensius is that its only at $19.99 and the leaked sale list was wrong. SKU is 2737083 for those interested.
I just saw Dead Rising at Coon Rapids Best Buy Riverdale. I think there was only one left though.
Damn, thats a bit far; well I hope another CAG benefits from this info.

EDIT: Well I managed to find 2 copies (1 for me, 1 for friend) at Eden Prairie Best Buy; pretty sure there was another copy left if anyone is interested.

Heads up anyone looking for Mayhem 3D for $4.99 at Best Buy, the Mall of America store has one copy for 360, but it isn't in the 360 section. It is in a small clearance section. If you made a left and were walking down the PS3 aisle, keep going to the 2nd part of the aisle (after the break) and it is on the right hand side.

I completely forgot about this game; looked pretty interesting. Too bad; I should have picked it up yesterday when I was near MoA. It's probably gone by now.

It is now. The location probably kept it safe for a bit, but my guess is someone read my post and snagged it cause it was gone as of today.

Also, anyone looking for some stuff to use that $5 Toys R Us coupon on, the Burnsville TRU has a Gears of War 3 zip up hoodie (size medium) for $3.50. Would totally be all over it but that's just way too small for me.

Not sure if anyone is in the market for a new monitor, but all this Korean 2560 x 1440 panels made me go and pick up one, and they are still in stock at the St. Louis Park Microcenter (I had mine shipped as I was out of town and they were in stock on the web when I was ordering)

http://www.microcenter.com/single_product_results.phtml?product_id=0384780

Super great value for the money, plus without the shady shipping stuff from Korea, and it comes with a year warranty.

slightly unrelated, but I'm selling my bike if anyone is interested:

http://minneapolis.craigslist.org/hnp/mcy/3249545829.html
2005 Yamaha Roadstar that got rear-ended. Frame, swing arm and tire are fine. All damage is cosmetic. Just had to put $2k into my car, take both dogs to the vet and buy a new fridge. I'm strapped for cash otherwise I would fix it in a heartbeat and keep it. Best damn bike you'll ever own.

Update:
Sold to a non-cag.
Was coming from lunch at El Lorro in Shakopee to a meeting in Plymouth. Had some timme so I stopped at the Harley dealership in Eden Prairie. I hate Harleys. They're terrible. You pay a 40% premium for the name. So I rode a demo Harley to reaffirm my suspicions. When I bring it back I told the guy I hated it and he looked at me funny before asking what bikes I do like. Well, I do love me a Yamaha Roadstar. Turns out one got traded in about an hour earlier. I took it for a spin and told them to put a sold sign on it. I'll be picking it up on Wednesday after my credit card rolls to the new month so I don't have to pay for it until November.
Between the insurance check and selling the bike in the craigslist ad, I actually made a profit on owning that bike and this one is about 55% of what I sold the other one for. I don't know how or why, but I've made out like a bandit on all 7 bikes I've owned so far. I seem to have a knack for selling them for more than I buy them for...

Not a fantastic deal but worth mentioning:

The Half Price Books in Apple Valley has a couple copies of Super Meat Boy Ultra Edition (PC - requires Steam) for $2. Braid PC for $3 as well, but that's been in so many bundles it's hard to have not wound up with a copy at some point. They are in the back clearance area.

Anyone tried to do the Bing challenge at the Microsoft store at MOA for the $25 voucher yet? Probably going to give it a go tomorrow since I'll be there anyway. I was just thinking yesterday how much I missed all those free months of live and MSP from the Kinect demo last year when I heard about this.
Confirmed that its at the MoA Microsoft Store; just gotta ask for the bing challenge for the voucher.
Good to know, thanks.

Let the pillaging begin!

I mean... sensible shopping. Yeah. That.

Stopped into the MS store before and after work today, got a voucher each time and walked out with two 1600 point cards today. Took about 5 minutes to do the Bing challenge and the guys were all pretty cool about it (happy to be giving out the voucher). I'm going to guess that Microsoft really wants to see them give a lot out so the staff is more than happy to have people come in and do it.

Other items that fall under the $25 that I saw...

3 Months of Hulu Plus
3 Months Xbox Live
Universal Media Remote (the newer black model)
Skylanders figures

Who did you talk to there? I was told by a "manager" at the checkout counter that they couldn't do it for 1600pt cards (or any subscription cards) as of two days ago...going to try again tomorrow, held on to the vouchers we got today.

Suppose that deal is still on?
Suppose that deal is still on?
It is, but I read in the main thread and can confirm that the vouchers no longer work on Point Cards or Subscriptions...no matter what. The guy at the store really tried to help, he even let me see what he was trying to do in order to get around the prevention of using the vouchers (at managers approval of course).

Basically he said it was because people were abusing the vouchers and points/xbox live and then Microsoft Store corporate put a stop to it, then subsequently in the interim time points/subscriptions bought with a voucher were not getting activated properly at the register and pissing people off as they eventually put a complete stop to it all.

Long story short, don't even bother getting points or months, it wont work. My suggestion, get some extra rechargeable battery packs, the new xbox remote, or put it down towards a console preorder, but then apply that value to an actual preorder you want at time of purchase (as I was explained that works with their preorder system).

I just went in today, here is what happened to me (Background, I went in on Sunday with gf, each did challenge, tried to get points cards, no dice from the sales person):

Took the challenge again today, so I had 3 vouchers to use. Walked around for awhile, the person who gave me the voucher today also told me that you could not use them on subscription cards and etc. Asked a worker with the checkout tablet thing about preordering AC3 since they didn't have the preorder box on the shelf. They looked it up on the tablet, said I indeed can preorder it there (including the 1600pt card and $10 giftcard preorder promo). I asked if I could use the voucher on the preorder, and he didn't know, so I asked nicely to try, and it worked.

I then asked if I could add a points card on top of the preorder, since I was told that you couldn't use it on points alone. Again, he tried, and it worked. $10 preorder and points card for $5 total.

From there, I asked if that same idea of buying something besides the points card in the same transaction would let it work, and he said it looked like it. Ended up having two other transactions, one being a points card + eneloop batteries for $6.xx total and a controller I bought heat of the moment that I might return (buyer's remorse, haha).

So it really comes down to being nice and trying to find someone who might not be completely against using the vouchers for cards. All the codes redeemed without a problem on LIVE, so hopefully at least a couple more people can benefit from this deal before it expires soon. Good luck!
I had 3 vouchers to use.
Were you able to use multiple in a row without an issue? Obviously not in the same transaction...
I then asked if I could add a points card on top of the preorder, since I was told that you couldn't use it on points alone. Again, he tried, and it worked. $10 preorder and points card for $5 total.
I asked the exact same thing and was told no...

I know it probably wasn't intentional, but this line kinda implies I wasn't nice when I went in... Just for the record, I was if anything too nice. I mean hell, I constantly was apologizing for wasting the guy's time trying different methods and asking his manager various things.

Guess I'll go tomorrow and try my luck again...

Oh sorry, I was referencing the post I made in the main thread, in which I thought my anger came through. When we went in on Sunday and were told no on the points card, I was much more impatient and basically argued with the manager guy as to why they wouldn't do it when other stores around the country would. I meant no disrespect to a fellow CAGer :D

And in regards to using 3, I actually called ahead and asked if I could and they said it was a one voucher per person deal through the entire promotion, which I didn't believe either, so I decided to try my luck with the guy who helped me out in the end, and he had no problems using the 3. They were 3 separate transactions though, yes.

Just have to get lucky with the right associate it seems.

Yeah, I've had guys who clearly recognized me and didn't mind that I was doing it again, and on one occasion had a girl who had never seen me but denied me when I said I had done it once before (and had been told I could do it again). You know how it goes, some store associates get hung up on what they think are the rules and no one ends up knowing the rules in the end.

Ya, I figured as much, just wanted to make sure it was clear. And ya, I had went in after having heard of points no longer working, so I was prepared to not hear the answer I wanted to.

Ya, I'll say, lucky.

Well now that its over, I'm content with my out come. Spent a total of ~$17, got 3 1600msp cards, a pack of AAA batteries, a 2-pack of xbox batteries, and a couple of pre-orders.

EDIT: ahahahaha!! Confirmations on this?: http://www.cheapassgamer.com/forums/showthread.php?t=330047
Yeah, if they are GC's and not vouchers that's crazy and worth sitting through a couple of times.

May look into it tomorrow...
I heard it ended tonight (Sunday); I had a midterm, a final, and 2 projects this weekend, so I didn't get to go, but a couple of my friends did and they both got em. So we at least know they were giving them out, just dont know how many more days for (if at all)

Walmart in Apple Valley has a bunch of random games on sale for $10. I only really paid attention to the 360 stuff, but there was some PS3 and Wii stuff to. All in a big display in the center of electronics. A couple of games I saw were UFC Personal Trainer, Your Shape Fitness Evolved, Cartoon Network Punchtime Explosion, The Adventures of Tin Tin, Disney Universe, a few more I can't remember. I wouldn't drive out there just for it (unless you really want one of those titles) but if you are there worth stopping by and taking a quick look. Sorry I can't report for any other system, was on the phone while searching so I'm surprised I can remember as much as I can.

Apple Valley South Target had two of the Black Ops (1 not 2) and controller PS3 bundles for $24 on clearance if anyone is looking for one. Was on the back wall of electronics towards the DVD/Music section.

Are any Minnesota CAGs looking for a Wii U Deluxe? I always preorder extra in case I get burnt and this time they both came through. I will sell it to you for cost which is around 380 after taxes etc (sorry not looking at my receipt). Let me know.

Not looking for one but you're a good man...or woman... Good on you! :)

Hope you make someones day. :)
sams club Woodbury, MN 3ds 90.99 dollars
awesome, thanks for the info; i'll have to go pick it up as a v-day gift (but really, a VERY late xmas gift, lol)

EDIT: just so its clear, I call dibs :D

EDIT 2: Also, to anyone looking for PSPGos (due to new GS price), there was one at the 3rd floor MoA location, a beaten up (decent still) and a near perfect one (small, potentially annoying scratch on upper part of screen) at The Hub location, 4 in Apply Valley last I checked, etc

EDIT 3: Gonna double post and just list all the stores that have PSP Gos nearby, since they can't be found via website

EDIT 4: Got the DS, its flame red. If anyone has a pink or purple they wanna trade for it, otherwise my g/f will have to suffer, lol

Does anyone have a Costco they could recommend?

I bought a launch PS3 60GB through them before they tightened up their return policy. The Blu-Ray drive is starting to make noise and stuttering playback, so I'm worried it's on its way out.

I'm seeing conflicting stories from people online about Costco honoring their previous policy, so I'd like to not waste time and take it to one that won't hassle me.

Wow, I pretty much gave up on that location. Last time I was there, I didn't think they had enough stock at all let alone any for clearance.

So I was wondering if there's any places breaking the street date on MH3U (either 3DS or Wii U) in the Twin Cities (preferably south burbs; IE, Burnsville, Apple Valley, Eagan) area? I can't find any.

Just got back from Ridgedale/Minnetonka Best Buy, had a few worth mentioning new clearance items...

* :wii: Kirby's Return to Dream Land - $12.50

* :wii: Just Dance 3 - $2.50
* :3ds: Cross Words Plus - $1.25 (HAS CLUB NINTENDO COINS)

* :3ds: Skylanders Starter Pack - $17.50

+ Some other new ones I cant recall, but were nothing interesting

At 1pm today, Knollwood target had a MW3 360 with a second controller and the 320gb hd for $210

Scratch that, I just bought it. There's also a gears of war 3 320gb there. The number is 207-21-0018
Good luck,
