Xbox One - General Discussion Thread

There are party issues my friend is having them to. Sometimes they work sometimes they don't.

Also, if a game is taking forever to install progress bar wise it is *MOST LIKELY* because It's downloading the update for said game. It goes to download the update first. Try having your system offline after the update and I bet the game installs faster. Might be the issue some are having, like Shipwreck.

Picked up my Xbox One this morning @ Target.  Luckily I had mine pre-ordered so I got a Day One.  For now I have Dead Rising & Ryse.  My GT is in my sig so feel free to add me.

Hey I have a question.  I'm going to get one eventually.  I was thinking of waiting for a $400 kinectless bundle but do you think you could buy one with kinect disconnect the kinect and sell it on ebay to replace somebody's broken one?

Reading about not being able to manage memory has me scared. I don't like the idea of leaving it up to the console to choose what to delete. Plus the last thing I need is for my Xbox to become self aware, then paranoid and learn to read lips through Kinect, then try to kill me.

Playing devils advocate there has to be a way to turn that feature off somehow or will be eventually. Also Microsoft can give 2 shits about spying on you.

Hopefully an easy question...is the box for a day one different from a regular box? Like even if it's just a sticker or something.
Yes the Day One edition is a black box. The regular one is a green box. Easiest way to tell, if you look at box contents on the side the Day One edition also mentioned the limited edition controller.

False alarm on the party issues. I can't link to youtube but there was a good explanation out there - Basically party chat is automatically muted (wtf?) right when you start the party for whatever reason, and they just didn't know how the invites worked and what not.

Right now everything seems to be just system releated, so far seems like just a bunch of unlucky people. Considering a million of these systems will be sold in a week nothing seems out of the ordinary for DOA on launch, probably the same or less then the PS4. What matters is how many systems fail in the coming months ala RROD.

Lol guy who's close to 1M Gamerscore just got a rare White Xbox One from Major Nelson. So you can get stuff from achievements.
Ha ha! I watched and my wife was like "what did he do, exactly?" Then I explained. Eyes were rolled. She's an awesome sport when it comes to gaming though, has never EVER given me shit about my hobby. It was just funny the way Major Nelson was going on and on about how much Stalion83 has done for them and the gaming community. I was like, get a room already! LOL

Ok, I hooked up my XBOX ONE and I'm not 100% impressed.  First issue is the Kinect quality.  Voice control sucks, but this might be my problem and I'll reconfigure again.

Second issue, which is a bigger problem, is the quality of the TV through the passthrough.  I hooked up my Comcast cable and it detected immediately, but the quality of the picture just seems to take a hit.  BAsically, makes it pointless for me.  Maybe it's just me, but it seems like it's not a true passthrough as the XBOX must be doing some processing to the signal.

Third, how do I check my MS POINTS balance?  I had like 9000 points, which were converted to dollars, but I cannot find it anywhere.  (Ok, I think I found the points on MS page online).  Apparently mine have yet to be converted since I haven't bought anything on the 360.  When I buy something on the ONE, will it use my POINTS first?

Right, lol and when the guy said "his girlfriend" I was like wait what!? This guy's girlfriend must have the patience of a Buddhist Monk haha! I was going a good gamerscore drive for a while in my 360 lifespan as I was renting games with Gamefly but I wasn't really getting anything out of playing everything. I probably wouldn't have played as much Mass Effect and the other great games if I was renting family titles to get gamerscore. Yeah the guy had a few 360s so he could play all the other games in the world, wow dedication or insanity lol.

So I guess there is no way to watch TV only without the console on? I have a A/V receiver, and everything hooked up correctly. But if I leave my cable box on when the Xbox One is off, I just get a blue screen.

This is pretty frustrating, I guess it doesn't pass it thru?? Sucks, and there is probably no way to fix it. I have the Comcast Xfinity X1 platform and its fantastic in its own right. I am only putting the cable box thru b/c I don't have any extra HDMI ports..

you can manage it go into games/apps you can delete everything you install

Sorry didnt see a "general" Xbox One thread so I will ask here. Can you have the same live account linked to both a 360 and XB1 at the same time?

i will say i LOVE the new controller. The thumb sticks with the indent are amazing and fit finger tip perfect. The triggers i love the slant up it helps keep the finger on the tigger. The rumble in trigger are awsome in every game i played and seems like the triggers are very sensitive which i love don't have to push much on them.

That sucks...I didn't even try that since the picture was not as clear when I had the HDMI going through the XBOX. I unplugged. I'm now getting TEREDO errors when testing my Multiplayer connection. UGh.

Liking the PS4 more at this point.

Purchased Dead Rising digitally also. It was about 30% after a few hours. I had to shut down my XBOX as it killed my Internet connection too somehow. Just seems odd. It's almost like the XBOX ONE is causing issues with my network. Not sure if my Win8 computer is blocking it or my router rejected it. Just seems weird.

I noticed people are selling those DAY 1 achievements on EBAY for $30-$50.  Do we get anything if we unlock them?  If not, I'm selling mine ASAP

I got mine...

I don't have a Xbox One....

My provider does not allow ESPN 1/2/U... ESPN worked pretty good for me for a ESPN3 showing.
I get ESPN 3 and all that jazz. So are you telling me I cant use my own espn channels through the Xbox One at all?...Guess I have to use the ESPN app to watch ESPN now. That's pretty annoying .

Overall I like the system a lot. There are some pretty stupid design decisions. The bumpers are complete trash. The menus, while fast and slick, are missing a lot of options. The friends list is a cluster f*ck right now. I don't like the new guide button thing and why is it so stiff?

Battlefield 4 looks absolutely awesome. Having only played BF on the 360 and Xbox original it is a huge step up. But in saying that it is almost too smooth. Its unsettling almost.

In 2-3 firmware updates I think this will be the perfect system for what MS wanted it to be. It's definitely a system that has a lot of good ideas. They just need to be ironed out

I don't know what you guys are talking about. Of course the cable won't work if you have it plugged into your Xbox when it's off. Why would it? Why would you think it would?

First off. Let me say, this console is fucking awesome. It takes the 360 and gives it so many great multimedia features it's unreal. The voice control is pretty spot on, the Kinect video wise is really solid. Everyone arguing you pay $100 more for a Kinect when comparing the X1 and PS4 I disagree. You get so many more features for your $100. If you're someone who doesn't want them I can understand it, but this system is going to be just as good a gaming console as the PS4, with so many more things added. So far I absolutely love it.

Here are my first impressions, for what it's worth....

System setup = super easy!  Easiest console set up in a while.  Linked right up to my profile.

System UI = Very nice and clean, easy to navigate.  Minor irks trying to find the system settings, but I found it.  Also, silly little things like trying to find the download queue and after I purchased and downloaded the Ultra ed. of KI, I'll be darned if I can find KI Classic!  I don't know if it's is it's own game or in the menu of KI.  I'll chalk this up to getting familiar with the system and the new dash.

Killer Instinct = To hell with the reviews, this game is bad ass!  I had a lot of fun with this and I think it's pretty deep, even with only 6 fighters right now.  I can't wait for the next two fighters and a dedicated arcade mode.

Ryse = Again, reviews be damned, I really like this game!  Granted I'm only in chapter two, but I really enjoy the combat, the visuals are eye-melting and the story has me intrigued.  It helped that I read the three free web comics and watched the trailers.  I think it'll help to get into the story if you understand who/what Damocles is.

Seriously to sit there, playing Ryse, and pan the camera is just mind-boggling.  It feels like you are playing one of Square Enix's old crazy hi-def, super polished final fantasy trailers.  It's really something and if you want to be sold on the "promise" of next gen, this game will do it.

Oh, and I feel compelled to say no sign of any kind of system failure or drive problems.  At all.

Check "my games and apps" section.

so far user reviews have been really good about killer instinct...alot of people saying the online play doesn't have any lag either.
