Well, MysterD, you need to understand these things take time. However, there is a plan to phase out BioWare Points. Obviously, as a business, we're here to make money - but our philosophy (now that I own this joint) is that the way to do this is to make a connection with the customer. As a fellow gamer, I know that the way to do this is not by charging you out the asshole for everything, but to do everything we can to enhance your experience. As a result, my first order of business is to stay true to the fundamental experiences of what each game calls for.

To show I'm not just all talk, we will be slightly re working Dead Space 3 to better mirror the qualities of 1 and 2. Expect a re-release around May 2014. Additionally, Dragon Age 2 is scrapped - this game is no longer considered canon or part of the Dragon Age franchise. We will be completely redoing DA2 and releasing it in a special bundle option with Dragon Age 3, which will cost $100 in total, or $90 on PC. If you wish to buy the new DA2 separately, it will be on sale for $40, and $30 on PC.

Lastly, I am excited to announce work on an open world Star Wars game. We hope to merge the fun, action packed combat style of the Force Unleashed games with the exploration and freedom of an Elder Scrolls game. There will be a dynamic, malleable game world based upon the actions of your character. Should you choose to go down the righteous, Jedi path, or if you're tempted the promise of power that comes with the Dark Side and the Sith, the characters and the world around you will reflect the importance or these decisions.

I'm very excited to have been given the opportunity to front EA by Tebow. I think soon you'll be excited as well
will ea games be on steam?

will all the games be fullly on steam?

will u do 75% off sale to help ur sale?

Actually, I liked Dead Space 3 - I just wish it had more touches of horror & more resource management.

About DA2 no longer being canon - ugh. With DA3 reusing characters from DA2 like Varric, I don't know if this is such a good idea. About DA2 re-release - what changes will be made to the game? WIll it be renamed? Maybe Dragon Age 2: Definitive Edition? Will it come w/ all of the DLC? Will combat be more strategic? Will recycled areas be re-done and become more unique?

Open world SW Action game sounds cool - so, who's developing it?
i heard neuro studio failed in the bid to do it. formerly it was yours but ur dark side took overe and got u fired?

Can you only play the Grid 2 contest once every two days? I played yesterday morning and it's only giving me the option to practice right now.
Wait a little longer, it resets each day, but I forgot at what hour. It definitely isn't midnight in the Americas region.

From now on, all EA games will be carried on steam. Steam is by far the most widely used digital distribution network, and by utilizing it, we think we will increase our sales.

I can't promise anything in terms of sale prices, but we will likely have more substantial sales than in the past. However, the huge, 75% off sales will not be frequent. The reason for this is that our goal is to have every major game we make be a GOTY candidate. The Star Wars game mentioned above, Dragon Age, etc, will all be premiere games whose high quality ensures the public does not mind paying full price for. However, all games have a sale curve - the huge burst in the beginning while dwindling over time. When our sales begin to stagnate a bit, we will respond with the proper price cut + sale price to stimulate a resurgence in sales. Over time, yes, this means we will have our games at 75% off.

I hear your concerns, MysterD. Let me assure you - Dead Space 3 is NOT an overhaul. When I discuss getting back to the roots, I mean emphasizing horror elements. This means better atmosphere, more scares, and an emphasis on managing resources.
I hope this is true, I didn't like DS3, for me, it was a step back in the series, as soon as I finished playing DS2 (i was late to the party) I started DS3 and simply got bored, it wasn't tense, it didn't have the same feeling, atmosphere, scares, tension, the same feeling of "fuck I'm going to be scared as soon as I turn around that corner, F*CK!" And getting scared anyway... I still need to finish DS3, just to see how the story goes because I really like it, because in terms of gameplay it's not nearly as good as 2, which was a truly masterpiece, along with my all time favorite games.

The Grid 2 contest was actually down most of yesterday. It's back today, but I just tried it, and I'm wondering if they changed it (I only did it once before this) because I tried clicking the final spot at 2:40 and it gave me a finishing time of 3:09. The end of the race just seemed longer. Anybody else notice this?

I played yesterday and won a key. Honestly I followed what I read here and clicked on the last pic of the last set (3rd picture, 3rd set) at 2:40.

The exact same. The last stretch seemed a LOT longer. On the plus side it said I was near the top, which of course doesn't mean jack squat when the system is this broken. Hopefully I finally get a code :/

How long does it take to get a GRID 2 key?

It ain't in my e-mail.

I won a race, it says! :D
A day... I think it flips around mid-day EDT. Weird... I don't recall it telling me that I won until I got my email.

I believe mine was around 1:46 or so. I know it wasnt anywhere near the 2:40something people are saying you should get
Weird... but I haven't seen any posts around that time.

The race-video is different every day.

3:09 I think. I wasn't particularly clinical, I just flailed around for a bit.

Yay for 1 more Steam xp :whee:
Bad time to mention 1 xp to me... ;)

Got my grid key with 2:46.something.  Used Chrome, switched tabs when the clock hit 2:46 and waited until it refreshed.

Mildly related: Screw Codemasters for selling tracks as DLC.  Had I not gotten this game for free, I would be insanely pissed.  I have already given up on Codemasters returning to their TOCA/Colin McRae era glory, but track packs pretty much guarantee i'm never going to buy one of their games again.  Just go full THQ already.

I pretty fed up with the Grid 2 contest. Facebook failed to load up the race several days in a row. Then it said I already raced for the last 4 days - though I never did. And now today it gives me a black screen for the entire race (except the timer. I can still see the timer). Now how am I supposed to find the objects when all I can see is a timer???

I would like to thank Codemasters, Intel and Facebook. I really appreciate it. Really.

Where's my key, spoder?

  • Most Anticipated game: Titanfall
LOL. So this is basically Geoff Keighley's list? No wonder nobody takes Spike TV seriously when they decided to name a multiplayer arena FPS as "most anticipated." Remember Section 8? Bethesda also tried to topple TF2 with Brink and failed horribly. Arena FPS games in general are awful, unless they have their own economy (and I don't really care for TF2, it gets boring fast).

Actually that could work in your advantage... you shouldn't do it too quickly. ;)

It didn't show up in my Inbox. or Spam folders. I had to click "All Mail" for it to show up.
You kids and your gmail... My spambin account is still on mailcity lycos (now Korean-owned/operated).

How the hell is Telltale going to make all these games they're announcing, they can't even produce one episode per month and they have at least 4 games going on that I've heard of.
Well, if Karma gets involved Telltale is going to take all the money Gearbox is paying them to make Tales of the Borderlands to make a really kick ass Game of Thrones game... And then they'll pay Timegate Studios* a handful of pennies to toss out the TotBL's game.

* Not really possible as they went bankrupt...

As annoying as it is, this tops a lot of people's lists. I have no interest, but the stupefied masses do.

Hi there, VGX Guest-Host Joel McHale. ;)
So two people in the "world" voice what everyone was thinking...? That sounds about right...

At least that's what I assume the comparison was about... I didn't watch, way too busy and way too much football to watch too. (Real football none of that soccer scrap.)

Gamefly Winter sale day 3...

Highlights:

75% off a lot of rockstar stuff, including 80% off Max Payne 3, making it 4 dollars

also 75% off for each individual GTA game

75% off a lot of deep silver, including 5 dollar goty Dead Island, or 3.75 for the base game

Question: The only gta i've ever played is 4. i gave up pretty quick because i found it REALLY boring. I've wanted to give one of the earlier games a try. Which is the best?

I think most people like San Andreas best, Vice City is good too. No one likes 3. The PC ports were pretty bad and the games haven't aged well.

GTA2...?

Honestly, most will say San Andreas.... I've never played it. Outside of GTA IV I've never played one to completion... And I really only played GTA IV to completion because of achievements. If I had to chose one it would likely be Vice City but mostly for the sound track.

GTA4 has achievements on GFWL, right? So is my logic faulty in thinking that once that shuts down next year, they might implement them on Steam, a la Bioshock 2? It would piss me off to do something like collectible-collecting on GFWL and then feel compelled to redo it on Steam.

I actually liked GTA4. But, honestly - if you didn't like GTA4 base game b/c it feels more grounded and tries to be more realistic than GTA normally is, then you should give the DLC's a shot. TLATD is a bit less grounded than GTA4 base game - but, it's really The Ballad Of Gay Tony is way over-the-top and similar in gameplay and style to the older outlandish GTA's. TBOGT especially feels similar to GTA: Vice City in terms of style, gameplay, and over-the-top factor.

About the GTA3 Trilogy: they're all great, IMHO - GTA3, Vice City, San Andreas.

Personally, GTA: Vice City is my favorite GTA game. I think it's the one that drastically improved and set the template for future GTA's and how they (Rockstar) could get more artistic w/ the series. This Vice City game goes for the 80's Miami feel, look, setting - and it does it fantastically. The improvements in music selection; actual game engine; game actually had motorcycles/bikes now; game settings & specific time periods; & giving the main character you play as actual personality and voice-acting; the actual prose/dialogue; voice-acting, storytelling - this all itself really began & got drastically improved right here, IMHO.

EDIT:

Yep, Vice City's the GTA that I loved the most.

San Andreas' big problem is that the game-world is so huge and there's so much to do - it can be quite overbearing, at times. It's the only GTA that I have not finished; I've played all GTA's from GTA3 up to last GTA4 DLC (TBOGT). And each GTA3 Trilogy game seems to have a mission that drives me bananas. For Vice City, it was the damn RC mission. Get by that - you should be fine.

Vice City is my favorite, but if you thought 4 was boring, I doubt you'll enjoy any of the others. They're all the same formula, drive around, do mission that involves driving around, maybe shoot something, drive around and do more missions until you inevitably get bored and start blowing stuff up. If you don't like that sort of stuff, maybe pick San Andreas, as that has more mini games. Personally, I thought the story in SA was terrible, but most people consider that one to be the high point of the series.

San Andreas or Vice City. San Andreas is technically a better game (bigger, more refined, more to do, rpg-lite skills). The different comes down to: do you want to play as some mafiaoso upstart in mid/late 80s Miami or as a gangster in early 90s LA. Both predate the 360, so controller support is DirectInput (DS3 w/BetterDS, Logitech Controllers, etc).

I think most people like San Andreas best, Vice City is good too. No one likes 3. The PC ports were pretty bad and the games haven't aged well.
The PC ports were perfectly fine... supported up to 800x600 res at release iirc (more than PS2..) and ran without problems on low end PC hardware back in the day (Athalon XP 2400 + FX5200 in my case). There are graphics mods that really spice them up. And they are a HELLAVALOT more fun than GTA IV.

I've completed VC & GTA IV, and almost completed SA. ...only dabbled a little in GTA3. Played OG GTA a lot.

Well crap, there're 666 other CAG groups on Steam, so now there's one for Pinball. It's not set to public to keep the phishers, etc. out, so I'll try to scan this thread for people posting their IDs and invite, and if anyone wants to be an officer or take over as owner to manage membership, be my guest.

GTA3 PC didn't ran so hot on my PC (AMD Athlon 700 Mhz; GF2 MX 400 card), back when it came out - that was one of those games I had to have ASAP. After a few patches behind it, it finally ran better.

GTA:VC PC on my same exact PC ran MUCH better than GTA3 PC! Go figure - Rockstar being Rockstar, on their PC ports.

On modern-day PC's, one should be able to run the old GTA Trilogy games just fine. They're great - highly recommend the old GTA3 Trilogy games (GTA3, Vice City, San Andreas).

I'd guess they'd more likely try to support their RockStar Social Club - since that tracks your Achievements on some of their newer games (Max Payne 3, LA Noire); and since Multiplayer is done through that.

EDIT:

I just checked Steam - MP3 and LA Noire Steam-versions also have Steam Achievements support. Hmmmm - so, it could happen there for Achievement support.

EDIT 2:

I still think MP portions might be done via their own RockStar Social Club. I'd rather them abandon that RSSC and just use Steamworks, honestly.

We'll have to wait and see - maybe, when we get GTA5 PC.
