Daily Deal:
Please check the Steam homepage.

Weeklong Deals:
Steam usually has week-long deals that change on Mondays at 6PM UTC. They mostly feature indie games, and may not run every week.

Sale summary lists:

Key:
⤷ indicates DLC, — specifies part of a pack, + shows alternative versions, ⚠ highlights things worth knowing, ♫ is obvious, and ... denotes a multi-pack.

Holiday Sale 2013 | 19/12/13 through 3/1/14:
Days 1-3, 4-6, 7-9, 10-12, 13-14.

Spring/Autumn Sale 2013 | 27/11/13 through 3/12/13:

Steam deals on other stores: (Related threads on CAG.)

Indie* bundle threads: (*Not always indie, nor always a bundle.)

Free stuff:
There are quite a few free games (mostly Free to Play) and mods available via the Steam platform, a comprehensive list of which can be found in this thread on the SPUF.
(NOTE: free games are not permanently attached to your Steam account like actual purchases would be. You'll need to manually download a game again from the website if you uninstall it.)

Also, the term "Millenials" is awful. I say that as a "millenial." If you start using that word, I will stop listening, because I already know everything about you worth knowing, and none of those things are flattering to your intelligence.

This isn't meant to be part of the big arguments.

Just a note concerning diction.

Okay, quick question time...

I'm at the point where I'll be transferring data from my old computer to my new computer and I'm wondering is it possible for me to just transfer my whole downloaded steam library from old to new and then just have steam verify it?

Also, is this even wise when changing the OS? (win 7 64 bit to Win 8.1 64 bit)

(I know theirs an option to do this but I've only tried it on one game to go from one installer to another and it did not work.)

Also anyone know if steam has a feature to transfers in game saves from one system to another?
It should be fine to do what you're describing. For your saves, install Gamesave Manager and then make sure it's detecting everything cause sometimes it might miss a game and you have to create a custom entry.

Steam's answer.

Pretty much you just need the steamapps folder and the steam.exe. Steam saves can be tricky-ish. You can trust the cloud save (which I don't and no one should), but I'd copy your whole My Documents folder as well (and later sort out what you don't want/need) as that is the location of many game saves and game configuration files.

Some programs/games also save stuff in %username%/AppData/Roaming and %username%/AppData/Local

I think that by registering your old WC3 CD key(s) to your Battle.net Blizzard account you can get a digital download edition of WC3. I know this works for D2/LoD.
Yep, this works for any current or "classic" Blizzard games (except maybe WC 1 or 2? I don't have my physical copies of WC 2 anymore).
This only works for Diablo II, Warcraft III and their official expansions. Warcraft, Warcraft II and Diablo don't use CD keys, and Warcraft II Battle.net's key won't register.

You can just copy the -entire- Steam folder to its new location on the new computer, then reinstall Steam and point it at where you copied the new stuff.

Just be aware that this will not copy many of your savegames (use Savegame Manager for that) AND that you'll have to manually uninstall / deactivate any games that have limited activations before you reinstall Steam just to be on the safe side.

StarCraft / Brood War keys will register too - I have those on my account as "StarCraft Anthology".

Y'know, I'm not even sure if I'm going to pull the trigger on ZC1 & 2. I remember the demo for #1 being frustrating. Maybe I just didn't give it enough time?

Haha yes, that's my dog :) I love Shelties!
I didn't realise that it is a Shetland Sheepdog in your avatar, I used to keep a tricolor Sheltie. Beautiful dog you have there, Shelties always remind me of the movie Lassie...a bigger version of the Shelties dog breed - the Rough Collie.

I just adopted my first dog in August, a beagle. She's 8 years old and came from a puppy mill rescue agency, and has some bad habits as a result of lack of proper socialization and training - not completely house broken, she gets aggressive when it comes to her food. She's so lovable though, every morning she wakes me up between 6 30 and 7 by licking my face. She loves licking your face, a little too much, haha...if you let her she'll just keep at it and won't stop until you push her off.

It's been a bit challenging w/her habits and all, but rewarding...maybe next dog i get I'll get a puppy...just didn't want to get one for my first dog, they're a lot of work.
Possessive behavior of her food? You need Cesar Millan! Joke aside, you may want to check out the books by Cesar or his videos on Youtube, he offers very good tips and advice on dog training. Very kind of you to adopt a 8 years old Beagle from a puppy mill rescue, it is not easy to train a dog at that age.

STOP CLOGGING UP THIS THREAD WITH YOUR OFF-TOPIC DIS.....awwwww, cute doggy....er, what was I saying?

This! In my experience they are more likely to be in those places than in MyDocs. (I move most of my saves into dropbox and symlink them back.)
They're all over the place, its ridiculous. For example Ubisoft games mostly save into the Uplay launcher folder. I consider Gamesave manager a must cause it worries about that shit for you. There needs to be a standard, but it will never happen. :(

Here's a possible deal for CAGs in Europe or those who are just European at heart and IP (maybe not necessary).

Square Enix EU store is selling a Christmas Surprise box for €6.49 that includes 4 mystery Steam codes worth "over €75."

Promo ends on the 20th at noon GMT with distribution that afternoon.

Squeenix Humble Bundle, folks.  Hold fast.  They've been extremely aggressive trying to shovel off their recent titles in deals, promotions, sales, etc.  It's the next logical step.

Yeupp I've looked into the alpha dog philosophy thing...I'm trying a mix of positive reinforcement and alpha dog techniques

She's really smart, she KNOWS when she's doing something she's not supposed to. If I try to take food away from her that I gave her, she's calm and completely fine. But if I try to take something away like if she gets into the trash, or gets into my roommate's cat food, etc, she'll snarl and snap at me. I read online a technique you can do is when she ahs something, approach her with a treat and give it to her when she drops the food. So what I've been doing is putting a bit of peanut butter on a tissue in the hallway, so to her it seems like she just found it...I approach her slowly, and when she starts growling, a bring out a treat. She slowly calms down, and then I tell her to sit. When she does, I take the tissue and give her the treat. I guess the idea is supposed to change from "he caught me, I'm in trouble" or "if I let him get close he'll take my food away" to "if I drop this I'll get a treat." The behavior seems to slowly be getting a bit better. Overall these are pretty small complaints I have though, as I've learned to kind of design our apartment to restrict the opportunities she has to get into things she shouldn't.

Cats > dogs.

Front Mission Evolved

Kane & Lynch 2

Just Cause 2

Hitman Absolution

Without any DLCs so you have to buy them up.

Bingo. Also, I have all of those. Squeenix needs to publish more titles I want to play, then do their crazy discount thing.
Problem w/squeenix is their prices seem to drop a lot faster than other big publishers, so it's easy to buy their shizz up pretty quick

what I want is for ubisoft or something to do this type of thing

I think Ubisoft is the one big publisher I don't have many games from.. so I'd be on board with that.

if i didn't have all of these already in addition to tomb raider i'd probably bite
I am in the same shoes, already own most of their titles. Now that Final Fantasy VIII is on steam, I hope Square Enix will release Final Fantasy IX on steam and do a Final Fantasy collection like the one they did with Legacy of Kain.

FF9 was never released on PC, and they refuse to port their old games unless someone else already did it years back, so... not gonna happen.

Nod. And a few odd games save into their steam-install folder (e.g. Sleeping Dogs). The reason I use Dropbox is so that I can (1) roll back game saves to any point in the last 30 days, and (2) easily sync across 'puters (better than steamy cloud).

Gamesave manager is a useful supplement to dropbox for my purposes, not a replacement.

I've never played a Final Fantasy game...although I did buy FF7 when it was 3 bucks a bit back

Am I a horrible human being?
