New Thread:

This thread has been replaced by TSDT v11

Daily Deal:
Please check the Steam homepage.

Weeklong Deals:
Steam usually has week-long deals that change on Mondays at 6PM UTC. They mostly feature indie games, and may not run every week.

Sale summary lists:

Key:
⤷ indicates DLC, — specifies part of a pack, + shows alternative versions, ⚠ highlights things worth knowing, ♫ is obvious, and ... denotes a multi-pack.

Holiday Sale 2013 | 19/12/13 through 3/1/14:
Days 1-3, 4-6, 7-9, 10-12, 13-14.

Spring/Autumn Sale 2013 | 27/11/13 through 3/12/13:
All days.

Steam deals on other stores: (Related threads on CAG.)

Indie* bundle threads: (*Not always indie, nor always a bundle.)

Free stuff:
There are quite a few free games (mostly Free to Play) and mods available via the Steam platform, a comprehensive list of which can be found in this thread on the SPUF.
(NOTE: free games are not permanently attached to your Steam account like actual purchases would be. You'll need to manually download a game again from the website if you uninstall it.)

If someone wants to tell me how to do that fancy "quote for key" thing to avoid lurkers, so much the better. But I won't lose sleep over it.
Just the basic tag system.

Type spoiler in [] at the beginning of what you want to hide, then /spoiler in [] at the end of it.

This is my hidden text

Or do a custom spoiler, and you can make it say something instead of spoiler

customspoiler="blah" in [] then hidden stuff, then /customspoiler in []

[customspoiler="Crayon Physics Deluxe"] 37PXF-88F2Q-CHF8X [/customspoiler]

If you hit reply to this post, it will show you the coding I used.

Thanks, never knew how to do those custome spoilers before

I'd throw you a like right now but SOME website decided it'd be a good idea to give you "like quota"

Does anybody in here play Blood Bowl?  I have the Legendary Edition from Amazon (which was non-steam) but now Steam is selling the Chaos Edition for cheap and I'm thinking about snagging it.

Really cool code drop iMac! I feel closer to you all now :grouphug:

Also, I've never played a Final Fantasy game either. It's on my list of shame, which is growing by the day.
I bought the PSP versions of VI, VII and IX (on sale of course) to play on my Vita and Tactics was "free" through PS+. They are great games to play on the go and I installed all of them on a 4gb card. Get to it Squirrel.

Just a heads up: if you got in on the Groupees Doujin 2 bundle, Exceed cards are going for a good bit right now.  Many are over 20-30 cents.  I actually sold one for 75 cents last night.  Brings me back to the first days of trading cards...

^...waits for own cards to sell high before telling anyone else.

Sold my Irias Reginleif for $0.73 a couple of days ago.

Hacking the account of the person that took Huntsman and didn't bother to post a reply. Enjoy your e-mail queries while I match them up to your Steam ID and hijack your shit, jerk.
Speaking of Huntsman, was the Amazon version always called the Halloween Edition? I swear when they gave it away for free that it was just called HTO but my library now says HTOHE.

Blade - did you end up with a copy?

No, on Amazon it was just HTO, once out of Steam Early Access is I believe when it became HTOHE.

Who doesn't have HL2 already?
I don't actually. I'll give you a :spacegiant: for your troubles ;)

That's actually what I'm planning to do now I have a Vita. I will have to check if I have already have Tactics, I've forgotten many of the PSP games that were added to PS+ over the months and going through my download list is a huge pain.

I wouldn't really call it a sports game. The only thing it has in common with sports is that it has a ball, a field, and an endzone. Outside of that it pretty much turns into "Smear the Queer". Only your team is made up of monsters. And they will kill your players. Perma-death style. It really sucks when your QB is leveled-up to the point that he is an absolute force only to watch an assassin walk up mid-season and kill him. But it IS really funny to see trolls pick up an orc carrying a ball and throw him across the field to get into the endzone more quickly.

Also...it is turned based with squares on the field for movement. Ton of strategy involved.

In regards to huntsman: is it any good at all? I heard it was a bit of a mess in early access

I don't actually. I'll give you a :spacegiant: for your troubles ;)
Have you ever played it? I can't help but feel it's a bit overrated at this point, but considering how old it is it holds up remarkably well. It's much more entertaining than the majority of the FPS games that come out nowadays.

It's one of those "you must play this game" games due to its significance

Steam just gave me 20% off coupons for Velocity Ultra.  Anybody want one?

Also, does anyone want a code for Magicka Wizard Wars?  They gave me an extra to give to a friend.  Since I have no friends I am forced to offer the code to Steam thread posters instead.  Quote this post if you are interested.

Here is the email I received:

Greetings, wizard-to-be!

The time has come for you to robe up and join the Wizard Wars! You've been selected to test our new game for your infectious enthusiasm and your ability to withstand frozen projectiles and sustained electrocution. You're a unique gamer among many; if we were making a movie about you, we'd call it "The Robe Warrior."

Please bear in mind that this is a early build of Magicka: Wizard Wars. This means the servers may go down from time to time, we may wipe the game and your character once in a while, and the servers may be fairly empty, so please bear with us.

After each game you play, please press the 'Feedback' button in the main menu and tell us all about it! You can also check frequently asked questions and known issues by pressing "Feedback". And don't forget to give us your suggestions and help us further develop the game by joining our forums!

The Magical Ritual for getting the Alpha:

- Open Steam
- Click on “Add game (Bottom left corner)
- Choose “Activate a Product on Steam”
- Input steamcode (the one from the mail)
- Enjoy Magicka: Wizard Wars Pre Alpha

Your Excelsior Line Staff and Vendetta Dagger will await you in game!

For now, welcome, and enjoy!

Great overviews. I tend to agree with your thoughts here. Although I did like FFVIII probably more than most people. It's been so long since I've played any of those that I'm not sure why, but it's probably all just nostalgia related reasons now.

Mystic Quest... Holy smokes. I think that has to be my favorite non-mainline FF game. For some reason that game would error/freeze on my SNES more times than I could shake a stick at. I even had my SNES "repaired" just so I could get back to playing MQ. I remember buying it around Halloween of '92 and saying screw trick or treating I'm playing this.

Chrono Trigger and Chrono Cross were great too.

I never played Crisis Core though. I heard good things about it but at the time of it's release (2007) I hadn't played a FF game in years. I still haven't played one since. Sad. Too much backlog goodness now.

The Final Fantasy series is where I first unknowing realized what grinding was all about (no, not that kind :shame:, THAT kind came later in life). I believe I averaged about 65-70 or so hours a play through for most FF games, good grief. I did develop a good multitasking system eventually.

{Sigh} I should've listened to my parents, "Turn that DAMN thing off and study!"
Yeah I'm not sure why I have such a soft spot for Mystic Quest. Maybe it's because I have fond memories of playing FFMQ and Secret of Mana when school would be cancelled due to ice on the roads, and I just remember sitting in front of the TV for hours playing those games while my parents went off to work :) I also have extremely fond memories of Final Fantasy Legends 3 on Gameboy, even though most people consider it a pretty inferior game.

I didn't mention games like Chrono Trigger since I didn't consider them FF spinoffs.

I'm glad that most people enjoyed my anti-lurker code drop :) To continue in the giving mood, the first 2 people to PM me 25 of 30 of the correct CAG users in my riddles can request any game off of Steam or Amazon PCDD for $10 or less. They can request it now or wait until the Winter Sale (I will be away from 22-25 so cannot help with any daily deals then, but I can probably be at my computer any other day).

Good luck!

Of course, I have it on the Original Xbox and as part of The Orange Box on 360. But you know, the master race and all...

I'd feel kinda bad taking advantage of your generosity, but I want to see if I got as many right as I though I did ^_^

New Borderlands 2 Shift Code like Gimmick:

LootTheWorld (Android, iOS) is a new Mobile app that lets you shoot QR codes to get a (mobile) inventory of BL2 loot, you'll then need stamps (also a QR code reward) to move that loot into your game. It seems like they will be tweeting special QR codes (sorta like shift codes) to redeem. Example (expired)

I just tested this with my 2013 Nexus 7 successfully. Shooting random QR codes from google images turned up mostly whites and a couple greens. I imagine the main use is for redeeming the new QR shift-like codes.
Cool. I'm finding new uses for my old phone everyday; first a WMC remote, now a loot magnet. I've got about 1000 DVD/BR cases, that should get me started.

Bah, I could only get 2/3 or so...I'm sure I know everybody else! Oh well.

You know, I'm really frustrated with how few of the games I buy I'm actually playing a decent chunk of.

I'll sometimes play an hour or two after I buy one, then get distracted and move on to something else. By the time I return to the game, I've forgotten the gameplay mechanics and story. This happened most recently with "The Witcher".

I need to focus on a game. I'm looking at the titles I've gotten the farthest along on, and have narrowed it down to:

State of Decay, The Witcher, Sleeping Dogs, STALKER, Far Cry 2, and Two Worlds (which I'm actually enjoying).

Maybe I should leave my fate in the CAG community's hands. Which game do I play next, and focus on?

Haha I put some work into thinking of those code hints, so I just wanted to turn it into something fun other than a code drop for games people might already have.

The two winners can also choose from Amazon as well if they have better deals! If 25/30 seems to be too high of a limit, I will lower it later :)

Tis the season!

I used to be the same way until I realized it was taking me like three times longer to actually finish any games. Now, I've gone in the complete opposite direction in that I feel I HAVE to finish any game I start (card idling excluded). This has brought on another issue involving my paralyzing indecision. I'll spend a ridiculous amount of time trying to figure out what to play next as I know I'll be in it for the long haul. It's a perfect lose-lose scenario. Maybe we should start a 'what to play next' thread.

My favorite game out of all of those is definitely Sleeping Dogs. The game is entertaining and the story kept me hooked until the end, even if it got a bit silly.

I also loved the Witcher 2, but didn't like the first game as much. Thankfully, you can jump into the sequel without completing the first as it recaps the story quite well.

I know there is a lot of love for Far Cry 2 but I haven't played that yet. It also seems like one of those games you can get lost in and find it hard to finish (a la Skyrim) while Sleeping Dogs is more streamlined. While it's still an open world game, its scope is more narrow and guided than FC2.

I also have paralyzingly indecision choosing a game to play next. :(

Should I choose just ONE game to play all the way through, or 2-3 to rotate through?

I love the idea of a "What to play next" thread. Where should we post it?

My vote is for STALKER, with Witcher and SD tied for second.

DUDE!!!! That idea is GOLD! People of all platforms will be welcome! There will be peace and harmony!

Maybe in the General Gaming & News area? I rarely venture outside the deals section, well really, I rarely venture outside of my followed content which is a few select threads which I guess a lot of you seem to also follow.

Or maybe someone could start a blog I suppose.

New Bundle Stars War of the Ages Bundle $3.48

  • King's Bounty: The Legend
  • Fantasy Wars
  • Real Warfare2: Northern Crusades
  • XIII Century: Gold
  • Theatre of War
  • Men of War
  • Death to Spies: Gold
  • Earth 2140
I would like to retract any previous comments I may have made while defending Bundlestars.

Do you feel the first Witcher is still worth my time, or is it not even close to being as good as Witcher 2?
Play the first one. Even with the clicky combat, it's one of the best RPGs of all time. I actually prefer it to the sequel.

I'm like the guy who goes to the same two restaurants.
I'm worse. I'm the guy who will put a single song on repeat and leave it that way for hours. And in my money saving days while unemployed, I ate nothing but Ramen noodles for 8 months straight. (And I still like 'em.)

I'd do sleeping dogs, then state of decay, then Stalker.

Also, once you get winners can you post the answers to the clues? I think I have like maybe 20 of them down, but curious as to the others.

I would like to retract any previous comments I may have made while defending Bundlestars.
LOL...yeah, I was going to admit, myself, that that bundle is pretty awful. To be fair, they've got a lot of bundles going on right now though. And they even brought back the first sim bundle with Trainz, Euro Truck, etc (though, I don't remember it being that expensive last time). I like that they have several bundles going on at once though. At least that way, we're not waiting two weeks hoping the next one is decent. Like I've said...different approaches.

Should I choose just ONE game to play all the way through, or 2-3 to rotate through?
I usually have 2-3 games I play, and I pick one depending on what time of the day it is, how much time I have to game, how tired I am, etc.

I also have a bunch of unfinished games installed that I'll get around to eventually by either restarting or spending an hour or two trying to remember what I'm supposed to be doing, what the story was, etc. It's not a good way to play games, but I'm thinking that the reason I drifted away from them is because I wasn't that much interested in them any more.

Do you feel the first Witcher is still worth my time, or is it not even close to being as good as Witcher 2?
Haven't yet played the second one (yeah, I know...) but the first one is a great RPG.

Thanks a lot for this! Now I don't have to save up my precious pennies for winter sales. I assume a squirrel was the other winner ;)
