Please check the Steam homepage.

Weeklong Deals:
Steam usually has week-long deals that change on Mondays at 6PM UTC. They mostly feature indie games, and may not run every week.

Sale summary lists:

Key:
⤷ indicates DLC, — specifies part of a pack, + shows alternative versions, ⚠ highlights things worth knowing, ♫ is obvious, and ... denotes a multi-pack.

Holiday Sale 2013 | 19/12/13 through 3/1/14:
Days 1-3, 4-6, 7-9, 10-12, 13-14.

Spring/Autumn Sale 2013 | 27/11/13 through 3/12/13:

Steam deals on other stores: (Related threads on CAG.)

Indie* bundle threads: (*Not always indie, nor always a bundle.)

Free stuff:
There are quite a few free games (mostly Free to Play) and mods available via the Steam platform, a comprehensive list of which can be found in this thread on the SPUF.
(NOTE: free games are not permanently attached to your Steam account like actual purchases would be. You'll need to manually download a game again from the website if you uninstall it.)

FWIW, for general purpose I use a Logitech Wireless Trackman and a Logitech M570 Wireless Trackball. I prefer the Trackman's heavier ball, but it's easier to use the M570 if I'm going between mouse and trackball.  For gaming, I've been bouncing between the Raza Naga 2014 (which is on sale at Amazon for $49.99) and a Mad Catz M.M.O 7.  I have to say I love both of these mice.  The Naga feels great and the mechanical side buttons are surprisingly intuitive and responsive.  The only reason I've decide to use the MMO lately is because I don't always need 12 side buttons.  The MMO took a little getting used to and I prefer the larger glide pads on the Naga, but it has become possibly my favorite mouse due to it's button features and layout.  The fact that it's physically very customizable is a bonus.

I do my PC gaming on my new laptop, most of the time sitting at a desk.  But sometimes I like to let my rebel spirit run free and game from the couch.  So that shit gets hooked up to the Samsung over the fireplace and the mighty sound system, usually just using my controller for Skyrim, NBA2K12, or Trials.  However I have a slightly smaller than normal Logitech wireless keyboard that is perfect for the lap and I just use the matching wireless mouse right on the couch cushion next to me.  Has never failed me.  Just goes to show:  Even the master race has its degenerates.

That Naga "mouse" looks like a keyboard on wheels. And the less said about the Mad Catz one, the better. I like my mice simple and wired.

I use w/e POS Logitech mouse I grab for $15 when the one I have dies (every couple of yearS).
I'm still using an ancient wired MS Basic Optical Mouse that just won't die - seriously, this thing must be 10 years old by now. I like it because the middle-button click has exactly the resistance I like (unlike a couple of wireless Logitech's that I've tried).

My mousepad is the armrest of this recliner i'm sitting in.

Don't think I have bought a real mousepad in a decade.  Got a couple sitting around for emergencies if I have to fire up something old that still uses a ps/2.  Tried using one when I first bought the g400, but it had some bizarre jumpery.  Works better on unsanctioned surfaces for me, although I usually keep the dpis tuned down unless i'm playing shooters.  Then I just use a hardcover book, or the yellow pages.

I'm left-handed so it's like most games don't even want me to play them. I have to remap keys for everything and the "ambidextrous" mice are very simple and featureless. (I used to have a nice Logitech MX310 with side buttons but it conked out after the warranty expired and they're discontinued now so I use a cheapo five-dollar one.) Less hassle to just use a controller.

Wow, you guys are noobs. I broke the screen off of my laptop, so instead of buying a new one I just compromised by running HDMI cables around my house and plugging my laptop into my huge ass TV. Couch, kitchen, bed, porch, bath gamer.

And trackball mice? Really? They have this exciting new "optical" technology that works on any solid surface. Will work on non-solids, too, but at lower dpi.

ALSO: Has anyone here played around with the Raspberrypi? A friend of mine just got one with two SNES controllers. We set it up and played around with it last night. I was surprised at how tiny it is; the whole thing is only slightly larger than a deck of playing cards. It comes with Apple 2E, Dosbox, Amiga, Spectrum, GB/A, SNES, NES, Xbox, PSX, Genesis, etc. emus built-in on the OS. Pretty awesome little system you can use as a dedicated emulator. You can also use it like an Arduino Uno for robotics.

y the yellow pages. u racist?

Unfortunately my left hand is rather dysfunctional on a keyboard, so I need to have those functions on my mouse. Surprisingly, I can use the 12 buttons as easily as the 6 buttons on my Hex. And the Cyborg mice had scared me away for years, but I now see why they have a following.

... and of course we all click over to see for ourselves. The circle never ends! :whee:

I Not everyone, it's mainly just me, so you can probably rest easy on that one.
Oh no, I'm right there with ya, brotha squirrel.

Raza Gaming Mouse looks interesting. Don't think I need that many buttons on it.

Cool idea for hotkeys, though.

Any cheaper good-brand name mice w/ not 10,000 side buttons?

Maybe just a handful (like up to maybe 5)?

"w/ not"

With not. WITH NOT.

My trackball is optical. It's not about that; it's about the real estate. Not having to swing my arm around = freedom. Sure, I've shorn all the vinyl off the right armrest on my office chair but FREEDOM.

MS Wheel Mouse Optical 1.1a, simple design and uses MLT04 optical sensor which is a very good sensor. You can probably find it cheap on ebay.

Weird. Just recieved booster packs after long time of no boosters. Not a single, but two, both for "eXceed 3rd - Jane Penetrate".
I imagine there's probably a spike in Booster generation thanks to people crafting badges to get snowglobes. Still odd to get two.

yeah he obviously ain't touched it yet

Xbox? I don't think there's a working emulator for that anywhere. Those things are cool tho.

I thought the snowglobe thing didn't start until the Winter Sale, am I mistaken in this?
Looks to be the same situation as the summer sale. A weekish prior to the start of the sale, coupons given for crafting badges were swapped out for marketable mystery cards of which will lead to their own badge.

Anybody else tried the code.org game giveaway thing? there was a time I completed the task but I didn't do it in the same way the game wanted. Then i was comforted by 20 minutes of utter confusion as to how this works, then fix one thing and facepalm as I move forward....all for a code of FIFA 13...what do I do with my life (I'm stuck between FIFA and PvZ, but I've played PvZ before.)

Hope the next time these people try to make a tutorial for coding they learn how to properly tell me how to do the bloody coding. /Rant

Free game is a free game ^-^

Caught up on the thread. This is what I've gathered over the past few days.

New Lara sucks.
Low refresh rates on monitors suck.
Lost Planet sucks.

MNS making holiday avatars rocks.
Sun getting his account back rocks.
Two CAGs selected to receive Steam Machines rocks.

Lots of code drops and not a single one I didn't own because I apparently buy a lot of bundles.
I like my toast crispy on the outside but soft and moist on the inside.
Like my women.

I always assumed I was on a Government Watch List... but this is beyond Enemy of the State.

Those are awesome! I especially like mine!
Thanks!!!

While changing my pic I just noticed that I have 70,666 profile views... weird.

I kinda wanted to get a 3DS XL but I owned the launch 3DS and it has this issue where the bottom screen scratches lines into the top screen... I looked into it and the XL has carried over that design flaw for some people. I'll have to wait for some kind of version 3.0. I wanna play Zelda too.

I can't wait for Metal Gear Rising to come to PC so I can wait a year until it hits 75%. Then I can buy it and put it into my backlog where I'll never, ever play it! So excited!
This needs to go in the OP of every subsequent Steam thread in big red letters as "the motto".

^_^ Technically I'm still using my venerable MX510 (succeeded by MX518, G400, G400s), but they all have the same shell, with improvements to the sensor. I'm amazed this mouse is in such good shape after 10 years (and more WoW than I care to state.) I also appreciate that it isn't gaudy gam3rm0use style.
I had an MX510 (red, so sexy) for 8+ years until the right click finally started to give out. Yeah, the right click. I couldn't keep a scoped weapon zoomed in BF3 or Mass Effect I found. I loved that thing.

I don't keyboard+mouse, but I use a G500, is that considered a good one? It was on sale one day so I bought it.
I replaced my MX510 (see above) with a G500 and had to return it for the G400. I hated the side buttons and the sensitivity increase was useless to me. The G400 is basically a reskinned MX510/518 anyway and I should probably buy 3-4 on sale so I never run out.

Hey, go buy Carmageddon II on GOG for 50% off. It's still fucking great.
