Daily Deal:
Please check the Steam homepage.

Weeklong Deals:
Steam usually has week-long deals that change on Mondays at 6PM UTC. They mostly feature indie games, and may not run every week.

Sale summary lists:

Key:
⤷ indicates DLC, — specifies part of a pack, + shows alternative versions, ⚠ highlights things worth knowing, ♫ is obvious, and ... denotes a multi-pack.

Holiday Sale 2013 | 19/12/13 through 3/1/14:
Days 1-3, 4-6, 7-9, 10-12, 13-14.

Spring/Autumn Sale 2013 | 27/11/13 through 3/12/13:

Indie* bundle threads: (*Not always indie, nor always a bundle.)

Free stuff:
There are quite a few free games (mostly Free to Play) and mods available via the Steam platform, a comprehensive list of which can be found in this thread on the SPUF.
(NOTE: free games are not permanently attached to your Steam account like actual purchases would be. You'll need to manually download a game again from the website if you uninstall it.)

I just start at the bottom and read the last page or two. No one cares about my opinion on things that happened ten pages ago anyway.

Go old school: Punch the monkey to win an iPod.
Oh not that again. I have a basement full of punched monkeys.

My, how this topic has drifted. Maybe punch the monkey until he drops a Steam key?

Wait, there's actually a company called Ariolasoft? Really?!

One of the Penthouse Pets, right?

And you're hanging out in truck stop bathrooms on a Sunday evening because. . . ?
Ariolasoft.jpg
... Germans... started as a record company.

Nah, Cheapy's not premium DLC... he's a freebie.

Whatever two (or more) consenting adults choose to do in the privacy of a truck stop bathroom...

Hm. Has anybody figured out how Steam calculates your "game completion" rate?
Yes. The term is pretty bad though... it seems to be average achievement percentage of games you've played (or possibly games you have at least 1 achieve in.)

does vita have any games besides tearaway?
I'm currently playing Gravity Rush and it's pretty neat. It's the only Vita exclusive I've downloaded so far, but just the hardware is seriously impressive. If you have PS+ it's a great value since you basically never have to actually buy a game for it. Notable Vita titles off the top of my head:

Uncharted Golden Abyss

Persona 4 Golden

Ys Memories of Celetca

Tearaway (which you mentioned)

Murumasha Rebirth

LittleBigPlanet Vita (sources tell me it's the best version of LBP)

Super Stardust Delta

And a few other good but not great games. So I suppose not a huge lineup, but I'm really liking it so far anyway. You can also factor in a bunch of solid PSP titles (since who actually owned a PSP to play them at release) as well as being able to take PS1 titles with you on the go (a moot point to some, but worth noting). I will say the 3DS has a great lineup currently and it's getting stronger all the time, but I still think the Vita is something worth having, especially if the idea of "a handheld console" appeals to you (Borderlands 2 is coming somehow).

That and performance gains for gaming aren't going to be anything amazing. Maybe at the end of it's lifespan when game requirements advance.
The current generation of processors can handle most of the modern games, overclocking a video card will be more beneficial for gaming than overclocking the cpu.

Well, also potential overclocking gains are down with Hasell & Ivy Bridge Processors than Sandy Bridge and earlier.

Not steam related but PC Gamer is giving away free codes for Might & Magic: Duel of Champions. Like their facebook page here to receive the code.

I still want to get a vita (plus I think Hatsune Miku: Project Diva f will be out on that soon @_@) There's bound to be more good games for Vita coming soon, and the inclusion of PS4 remote play makes it seem more important in my mind compared to how much it actually is but Bleh I say! Hail the Playstation exclusives!

Hm. Has anybody figured out how Steam calculates your "game completion" rate?
Just pulling things out of the hole under my tail, but maybe the percentage of achievements per game based on games you've actually played? Mine is like at 18% but obviously I haven't touched more than 80% of my games.

dammn. it has more than i realized. it's almost worth it just for lbp, persona, tearaway (that's the big one for me) and the ability to play borderlands on the go

Ys Celceta is the only Vita game I want to play that's not a port of some other game I already have. (Hot Shots Golf was another but then they ported it to PS3...) They should just put it on PC already and save me the $200-whatever, they're being very inconsiderate.

What they should do is make that limited print special edition they got going for Vita, as a option for PC (of course it would have a steam redeemable code). Or better yet. Make it DRM free on disk and include a code for Steam. Either way, have the option for the hard physical copy because I am a sucker for buying JRPG's, lol.

yea i play Rayman Legends, Killzone: Mercenary, Uncharted Golden Showers and lots of indie games on my vita too. dat oled screen, so pretty pretty
I love the Vita hardware a ton, as it's probably the best piece of hand held equipment I've ever played games on... and while I have a 3DS XL I don't particularly enjoy the hardware as the touchscreen is pretty bad, the screen is super low res, and I think for 99% of games the 3D effect makes the picture significantly worse and adds nothing to the gameplay.

However, overall I think the 3DS has some of the best hand held games of this generation, though I probably play the Vita more because of the sheer quantity of good games (the myth that the Vita has no games is unsurprisingly false). In fact, I'd say the majority of my favorite games this year belong to hand helds rather than PC master race/console peasantry.

Some of my favorites in order of happy happy time...

Nintendo 3DS

1) Legend of Zelda: Link Between Worlds: I've already talked about this game earlier, but I'm incredibly impressed by this game. The "painting" gimmick actually made me rethink how I looked at dungeons and the ability to rent items at any time opened the world up from the first hour mark. Thankfully, LBW does not rely only on nostalgia and instead brings plenty of new ideas into the fold while removing the annoying tutorial partners that haunted Link over the last decade. It also used the 3D effect to great effect in a way that affected gameplay as well. Oh, and did I mention the music...?

2) Fire Emblem Awakening: Great SRPG in the vein of FFT, although the story was more anime cliche than self-serious political drama. Although the plot felt pretty generic and the characters were all typical anime tropes that hardly ever changed (and only character development involved were also anime tropes), I still liked to see how different characters would react with one another when paired up, and the overall game became pretty challenging in later levels. Great art style and music overall, and I surprisingly kept the 3D on for most of the game.

3) Super Mario 3D Land: The only other game I can think of where the 3D effect improved the game and gameplay. This game was mostly a joy to play, but I do think it held your hand for way too long... the "real" game didn't start until after you beat the main game, which unlocked an entire new 100% of the game that no longer treated you like a baby.

4) Phoenix Wright: Dual Destinies: I'm a sucker for the PW games, even though I didn't enjoy Apollo Justice: AA as much as the original trilogy. I'm surprised by how smoothly all the characters and animations made the transition from sprite to 3D artwork (though speaking of stereoscopic 3D, I hardly used it as it made all the characters more jaggy). The story was as silly as expected, but I liked all the characters and appreciated the way you could control 3 different protagonists (each with their token special abilities, such as psyche locks). I even played the silly DLC trial where you defend an orca in court...

5) FF Theatrhythm: Yeah some people might laugh this one off as a play on nostalgia by S-E, but I can't believe just how much I played this game. I was pretty addicted in min-maxing my party for some odd reason (yes, in a rhythm game), but I loved playing through some of my favorite music from FF4 and FF6, plus countless others.

6) Some other notables... SMT4 (story was so dry and boring that I lost interest a few hours in), Rhythm Thief (good concept but incredibly dull characters and story and the mini games were pretty hit or miss), Paper Mario (also lost interest a couple hours in), Mario & Luigi Dream Team (great game that I haven't spent enough time in), New SMB 2 (decent platformer with very little creativity, Rayman Origins/Legends blows it out of the water), Animal Crossing New Leaf (fun for a few days, but once I left the world I had no desire to return). And I still haven't played my copy of Pokemon Y....

PS Vita:

1) Guacamelee: I can't praise this game enough... probably my favorite "Metroidvania" style game since, well, Super Metroid. Great unique art style with a fun melee-centric combat system to match, while new moves help both in battles and in exploration. The characters and animation are superb and even the combo system has the precision necessary that you'd expect from fighting games (with a fighting game style combo challenge room to boot). Excellent, excellent, and worth playing on Steam now if you don't have on Vita.

2) Dragon's Crown: I'm one of those guys who doesn't care for some of the exaggerated figures on the characters, but I can't escape how beautiful the overall world is. The gameplay is fun but can get a bit stale after a few hours... until multiplayer kicks in. Multiplayer makes this game come to life, and you'll be able to grind to your heart's content, while new skills and equipment ensure that you can change your play style to your suiting. Unfortunately, the game sometimes crashes, once erasing an hour worth of progress for me.

3) Virtue's Last Reward: I actually beat 999 and VLR on my 3DS, but I'd recommend the Vita version (since it's free with PS+ and does not have the game breaking save corruption bug). Visual novels are hit or miss, but I loved the Higurashi games so I was happy to play a new VN with a good premise. Some of the deus ex machina and plot contrivances got a bit hokey, and I still enjoy the original 999 better, but overall I had lots of fun with VLR.

4) Super Stardust Delta: Indie games are a huge reason why my Vita has so much play time, but the king of all indie exclusives has got to be SSD. I can pick up and play, expecting a 15 minute game, only to be sucked into an epic 3 hour battle against the high score.

5) Other indie games: Super Crate Boy, Spelunky (so great on the Vita...), Hotline Miami, Lumines, etc...

6) Persona 4 Golden: Unfortunately I have not spent enough time with this game, but it's next on my list! Great JRPG from what I've played so far though, and much better than SMT4.

7) DJ Max Technika Tune: I can't believe they fit all this on a Vita cartridge! Lots of music and content with just as much customization as previous DJ Max titles. I still prefer the traditional controls of the PSP DJ Max, but the touch controls on TT work pretty well too.

8) Puzzle games like Dokuro, Machinarium, and others

9) LBP Vita: As MNS said, the best version of LBP...which for me doesn't say much, since I didn't like LBP on PS3. Surprisingly, I do somehow enjoy the Vita version and I pop the game in now and then for slapstick humor on the go.

10) NFS Most Wanted: Graphically impressive but I can't help feel bored by the overall driving, esp as progress is kinda muddy since you can find cars at any time.

There are way more indie games I like on the Vita, but they also aren't exclusive so I won't name them all.

Games I have and are probably awesome but I haven't played yet: Killzone Mercenaries, Uncharted Golden Abyss, Gravity Rush, AC3 Liberation, Sly Cooper, etc...

Also, while I mostly played Rayman Origins and Legends on PC, I played some of Origins on Vita once it was free with PS+... and I have to say, it looks amazing on the OLED screen!

Tilt to Live 2

Ridiculous Fishing

Year Walk

Crud. It seems the London 2012 sale on Getgamesgo did not actually last all weekend. In fact, the game seems to be gone entirely from the site. Did anyone grab an extra?

CAG Winter Sale BINGO!

Last call for anyone who thinks they might want to play. Myself, pasports31, sunasun, and MrNinjaSquirrel can invite upon request.

It plays almost like regular bingo, only instead of drawing numbered ping pong balls, we use what games go on sale. Buy-in is just $5. Deadline to get in on it is about 48 hours away!

I might be interested. Can I get more info?

This. Theatrhythm is easily my most-played 3DS game and the only one for which I've paid for DLC. It's great to have around for the soundtrack once you're unlocked all the songs to be listened to from the menu. And yes, forming and leveling parties was a blast. I keep hoping they'll make another. Dragonquest, Seikken Densetsu, maybe open it up to other devs' characters like Nintendo or Capcom or Konami. Theatrhythm: Castlevania would be amazing.

FWIW, Paper Mario Sticker Star is very fun. There's not a whole lot to do post-game (no 100 level dungeon this time, boo!), but I enjoyed the main story more than I did Mario & Luigi Dream Team. It's a great hybrid action-RPG.

I want in so bad.

Been putting in serious hours to 100% AC4 and it's a pretty disheartening fact that I'll never earn all of the achievements, one of them is to reach level 55 in the insufferable multiplayer mode. I guess it's just Uplay achievements but it's still disappointing. I can still 100% the single player, actually I can't cause their shitty community events are completely offline. FUUUUU-

u dont actually play dat game all da time. u prolly only play like 4 hours a day and then u just leave it on cause u forgot to turn it off hehe

I play it for like 6 hours or more every day. My play time includes the 2 weeks I was away from my PC. I'm about to wrap up the game in a few missions tho, just in time for the DLC which comes out this week!

Does anyone remember if there is an expiration date on that 35% off Uplay Store coupon? Also, is there a way to find out if Uplay keys work on Steam like FFVII and Chivalry: Deadliest Warrior DLC apparently do? The activation language is lacking on each game's store page.

I might begrudgingly use the coupon on either FFVIII ($7.79), How to Survive ($2.43), or DuckTales:Remastered ($5.84). All of those would be all time lows, if you can double-dip on the Uplay Winter sale with the coupon. If there's no expiration on the coupon I'll probably just wait then.

Coupon only works on Ubisoft games. Don't bother.

Whaaat? That 35% coupon is only for Ubi games? Waste, I would have only bought Steam games from them but even that wasn't likely cause I'd have to pay sales tax.

Typing of the Dead Overkill $6.80 at Gamersgate before 20% off.
If only they didnt raise the MSRP.. 73% off of $19.99 + the 20% off would've been good enough for me.

Yeah, I tried using it. Coupon is useless to me, since I have no interest in non-Steam Ubisoft games.
