GOG Deals Thread

Well got Wing Commander V and Carmageddon 2. Only want Privateer 2 and I'll be pretty good...doubt it'll get better than 50% off so i'll likely wait on it.

Edit: Also you can get pack prices for individual titles just choose which you want. Works for the two I bought mentioned here. Think there is only 1 pack that says if you buy all get so much percent, otherwise vanilla 50 percent off. So try it if you want a title or 2 from a pack...just click it and choose those and happy savings! I love gog!

I don't know, neverwinter just couldnt grab me. And I'm a tabletop D&D fan from way way back. Liked everything in the anthology but NWN 1 just didn't sing for me. Never tried 2. Should I retry?
I've never played NWN2, but I've seen the mods they did with the graphic engine, awesome, and there are people porting Ultima!

The one thing I'll say against GG versions,I know I've said it before but i have no faith in GG updating them, however you know gog will always try to keep stuff going. For me it's worth the extra few cents or dollars to know the games will more likely work by the time I get to them with gog vs GG. Take total annihilation, the gog version has been updated a few times already and GG hasn't been touched, and this was important fixes, enabling resolution changes and working multiplayer and only in the past 2 months. Not sure if GG has dk2 but it would be missing all the major graphics and lockup fixes it's gotten in the past 6 months to finally make it playable for everyone

Why is Race The Sun on GOG also including a Steam-key?
:twitch: :twitch:

<After more digging...>

Good news, Re-Volt has controller support (though supposedly you want to turn on non-linear input in-game when using).

More good news, buying Race the Sun on GOG will get you a Steam Key as well.

From the Dev's website, bottom of this post.

EVERY CUSTOMER GETS A STEAM KEY

Just to be clear: everyone who owns the game now, or buys it in the future from our website, GOG.com, or anywhere else it becomes available, will get a complimentary Steam key!
These will be delivered via your Flippfly account page (http://flippfly.com/my-account/) around the release date. We’ll send an update via our mailing list when these are available. If you’ve bought the game but haven’t created a Flippfly account – see your Humble download page or your “Game Shelf” on your GOG account page for instructions.
For anyone interested in Race the Sun, there's a version* over on Kongregate (requires the unity plugin). Apparently it was kickstarted.

*Not clear to me if this is a reduced version or not.
Edit: I bought Race the Sun from GOG and got my Steam version quickly and smoothly.

<remembers why she doesn't like people>
You need to get that twitch checked-out, dear.

EDIT:

Hmmmm - do I ask too many questions or something? ;)

That why you no like people? ;)

I don't think I've ever seen a game on GOG also give-out a Steam.

I wish more games on GOG did that.

I love both GOG and Steam.

nice, that's the latest update.

It runs just fine on my 2007 MacBook Pro. (Even easy support for my DS3 on Mac)

TB isn't very experienced. He's bypassing some interesting paths/jumps.

I wish he showed some Region 5/6 things get *crazy* there. But I feel his review was fair and accurate.

This!

...sure I just picked up FC3, SR4, and Dragonborn, but I'm playing Race the Sun.
I'll support this. Was playing TR and BSI, but put them both on the backburner for repeated RtS runs. AND I'm using the keyboard, because for some reason RtS won't recognize my wireless X360 controller...

I'll help out here before Skitty goes on a killing spree.

It's not GOG that's giving out the Steam keys, it's the devs. Once you buy RtS on GOG, your bookshelf entry on GOG will have a key for the dev's site. Head to the dev's site and follow the instructions, and they'll send you your Steam key.

See, I just saved your life there MysterD. Or at least saved you a great deal of bleeding.

Hmm weird... tried mapping the bindings in game? Works fine with my DS3 in Win7 w/BetterDS3 and works on my Mac... natively, USB or bluetooth.

It plays well with a keyboard. But I prefer controller.

I haven't seen you on my charts, friend me if like.

I got PixelJunk Monsters as my random magic GOG deal of the day, for $1.99. However, it's just HD, not the Ultimate version that's on Steam. I'm assuming the Ultimate version is superior, since its lowest price was $2.49 on GMG (which I assume was a Steam key).

Passing on the HD version and hoping for the Ultimate version in the Steam sale (so I can use Gaben bucks on it).

I did, no dice. It might be because my controller is wireless? Not sure, and the game played well enough with the kb so I didn't bother.

Thanks for the friend offer, I'll do it when I'm back in front of my desktop, currently on my phone...

I guess I should mention this now.

With today's new implementation of GOG's "mystery box deals"... there looks to be an exploit... to try to random to a game that interests you.

While signed out of GOG.... visit GOG, and see your mystery box selection.  If you don't like it, dump your cookies and refresh.  Once you see one you want to gamble on (discount %) sign in and select it.

Hmm, not sure, I don't have a wireless 360, but I am aware that those occasionally have some odd issues (compare to wired 360s / other Xinput methods). Having gone back and forth controller/KB I can't really say one it absolutely better... controller does give you analog steering for those gentle turns.

^_^ yay!

Are anyone elses mystery box deals showing what they are before you click on them? I thought it was part of the solstice thing yesterday that they were showing up, but I can see all three of my choices today as well...

They changed it so you can see your three choices, but you still have to pick one to see your discount or to see if it'll be free.

One of the games in my choices was Tales of Monkey island.  A game I stayed up for 4 days to get during the Insomnia Sale and the main page was trying to force on me again last night.  And now again AGAIN today?  I just don't know.  Surely there are more Telltale games, or even more Monkey Island games you could be tempting me with.

Yeah, this works... easiest to do with create-destroy a single incognito window.

The question is: *are* there any great deals being offered? Since you can't see the prices, I assume you have to go by what other people have been getting. Or are the prices random for different people even for the same game? I know they said you may even get a free game - has anyone actually gotten one?

I don't know, again, the exploit is to try to random to a game you're interested in. You only get one chance per day to roll the dice on the dicount/freebie... I picked Cognition in hopes of getting a freebie since most of what popped up I owned or wasn't interested in.

So, I can get Nox for $1.79.  The little bit I could tube of it, it looks like the type of gameplay I'd like, but it seems kinda stripped down in the RPG department with the auto-leveling, which hampers my interest a bit.  Can anyone recommend?

I haven't played it, but from looking into it before, it's supposedly a missed gem, that had the misfortune of being released alongside some big title.

Wow. Thank you very much for this :D I finally got Evil Genius after about 3 minutes of doing this.

2013 Winter Sale Day 09

RECOMMENDED DEAL

Full Of Stars

66%Off Startopia - $1.99
70% Off Space Colony HD - $2.99

COMMUNITY DEAL

75% or 50% Off Sci-Fi Combat Sims  Full Bundle Cost $10.94

Descent 1 & 2 - $2.49 or $3.99

Descent 3 + Expansion - $2.49 or $3.99
Terminal Velocity - $1.49 or $2.99
Shattered Steel - $1.49 or $2.99
AquaNox - $1.49 or $2.99
AquaNox 2: Revelation - $1.49 or $2.99

And yeah, the Descent games are actually 60% off if you buy them separately. But it's too much of a hassle to put "75% or 50% off except for the Descent games which would be 60% off".

2 games I already own, and MDK again...GOG really really wants me to buy MDK.  I'm sure it's a great game, and one I've been meaning to get for years...but it's only a $0.90 savings.  And that messes with my cheapassness.

Is there a list of the games that people have reported as options in the "daily surprise"? Preferably with the price that those games show up as? I assume that there is one that has been compiled over on the GOG forums. But a quick scan of the first few pages of that forum didn't point to anything. But I know that we have a few GOG forum regs here though, so if anybody would know, it would be one of them.

I'm trying to decide if there's anything worth using the cheat that Ashes pointed out above.

Hrmm, Influx for my daily deal. It actually looks pretty neat but I just came back from Christmas shopping and am very not in the mood for impulse buying uou

edit: I mean, Influx was the most interesting OPTION. Assassin's Creed was up there too but I want to get all of those on he ps3 (when I get a ps3, sigh)

It's the thread called Daily Personal Deal Tracker and it's here http://www.gog.com/forum/general/daily_personal_deals_tracker_2013_drmfree_winter_sale/page1

I'm actually tempted to (re)buy Descent because I have a Logitech Cyberman... the first consumer level 6 DOF "mouse", and I wonder if it would still work with descent today.

I'd point out that using the exploit I posted is actually good for GOG, since you're using it to try and land a deal on a game you're actually interested in.
