Trying to get my girlfriend into games more. She never played them growing up so it's difficult and she doesn't really get it a lot, and stuff where she has to aim and shoot stresses her out. She really like Prince of Persia: Sands of Time, she likes solving puzzles and she likes the acrobatic wall-running/swinging/platforming stuff. Would you guys recommend anything similar (and fairly simple) to try?

I think the prologue + like maybe an hour after it were all I did before I sent it back to amazon for the bonus credit, just wasn't a game for me :/

While it can be fun to co-op occasionally, having a gf that's into gaming can also be a curse. When you'd love to sit down and play through some more of <game> and that's not what she wants to play... guess which one wins out and which gets shelved and backlogged.

That said, PoP 2008 was solid.

What other games does she like? Sounds like she likes puzzle platformers that are light on combat, though Sands of Time had some annoying combat from what I can remember; how does she feel about those sections? Can you have her try stuff like Portal/Portal 2 (you two could co-op in Portal 2)? Or will she be put off by the first person perspective?

Quit bragging about your girlfriend.

Professor Layton games...? Or not enough action?

Shortly followed by Viewtiful Joe. Make sure she unlocks unlimited VFX mode for all characters.

Yeah I'm thinking about Portal 2. She really hasn't played much at all, outside of stuff like New Super Mario Brothers multiplayer, Mario Party, DDR, some Smash Brothers. Tried stuff like SM64 and Banjo, too open-ended, not enough of a clear goal. I've got PoP 2008 but I kind of remember it being really light on puzzles, mostly running and really annoying combat.

You listed most of the stuff I would said, what about like Mario/Sonic Kart? If she likes Prince of Persia perhaps some of the Slys/Ratchets/Jaks since he might like that platforming if there in an actual goal with levels? There's always the stuff that is like Viva Pinata or The Sims as well, those are usually fun for a lot of people that don't really game. Some simpler RPGs might be a good start as well if she enjoys the stories. The LEGO games might be fun if you want something to play through in co-op that are semi platform games.

Oh yeah she fucking loves the sims, lemme tell you how many slideshows of sims snapshots I've seen. Yeah thought about the lego games too, maybe I'll see if I can find one cheap somewhere. Yeah she likes Mario Kart too, mostly looking for co-op or single player things, she's got the party game stuff down.

Anyone play Lego LOTR or Harry Potter? Lego Marvel obviously looks rad but not mad cheep like the older games.

haha fair enough!

As for LEGO games I have played them all outside of the Harry Potter ones and the only one I couldn't really get that into was the first Indy one. The Star Wars ones are my favorites (big surprise) but the Batman ones are considered some of the best. LOTR was a fun one as well, in a way I think it just depends on which set of characters/universe she would like the most, since they are all pretty similar.

If she hasn't really tried RPGs I still think those are good for people who aren't always into video games since they have so many different difficulty levels and can have an actual story to follow, something like the Tales games even have that co-op in the battle system as well.

Some of the Tomb Raider games might be good as well since they also have that puzzle aspect to them, and even the Resident Evils for that matter (with the last 2 having co-op, but obviously splitting the franchise :p)

Or you could always just split-screen some Superman 64

Think I'm gonna pick up a cheap Lego game, probably one of the Potters or LOTR since she's into those (don't think she really cares that much about Star Wars or Batman). Wanna get Portal 2 eventually but the PS3 version (don't have two 360 controllers) is like thirty bucks so not right now. Thanks gang.

Also I'm fucking baffled at the amount of lego games out there. Jeez, the days of it just being one star wars game a year seem so long ago. Also remember lego rock band? lol bug

And there are still more coming out haha, yeah it is getting kind of crazy but apparantly they sell well enough.

Lego Rock Band had We The Kings.

Best game.
And The Final Countdown....and Ghostbusters

Probably.

Still hadn't gotten to sleep by 6am after an hour of being settled in bed, so impulse choice to stay up all night, hit the bed early tomorrow and unfuck my sleep schedule. Which I guess is gonna mean a lot of LBW and Wii U to keep my attention.

I was so annoyed when they canceled that show. James Vanderbeek was goddamn amazing.

'99 durango can't make it through 2 inches of snow, the hell is this.
Time to get some new tires and put some sandbags in the back.

When I played the demo it convinced me to get the full game. I'm just worried the rest of the game might drop in quality though.
When you get around to playing it, I'd definitely like to here your impressions on it. I kind of liked the demo, but also didn't really know what was going on.

A bit late to this, but I've had mild success with with co-op on the New Super Mario Bros series, Super Mario 3D World, Super Mario 3D Land. The lego games are good too. She loved the harry potter ones even though I found them kind of lackluster (despite liking the source material). I had a hard time selling portal since she can't grasp the First Person controls.

Yeah thanks, I've got NSMBU and 3D World so we'll see how those go over.

My wife wasn't much of a gamer when I met her, now she actually probably logs more hours than I do. Her gateway game was Fable II, she really got interested in that, and she absolutely obsesses over anything Bioware & Elder Scrolls. Also loves the Rune Factory & Kingdom Hearts games.

The LEGO Harry Potter games are my favorite LEGO Harry Potter games. My ex and I 100%'ed the Years 1-4 game and had a BLAST doing it. Coop is actually worthwhile in those games because they don't require both of you to be on the same screen. It will split and allow you to go do whatever (within the loaded area). We tried the LEGO Star Wars games together after that and I found that after playing LEGO HP, I couldn't deal with it any more. Even if I *liked* the source material a lot, I couldn't go back... and not really giving a damn about Star Wars made it so it was an instant "this doesn't work for us".

Anything after LEGO HP should have the same co-op features, so if you're looking to play together, I would stick with the games released after LEGO HP Years 1-4.

Dat Last of Us prologue.

Almost immediately after that prologue, you run into a character voiced by Laura Bailey, cuz it's very easy to tell with her limited range. I find it really surprising that Whoknows didn't like this game then unless he didn't actually play it and just heavily talked shit about it cuz that's what he usually does.

Gonna head to sleep early tonight. So tired.
I watched it.

Idk how you can play a movie?
