This thread has been replaced by TSDT v11

Daily Deal:
Please check the Steam homepage.

Weeklong Deals:
Steam usually has week-long deals that change on Mondays at 6PM UTC. They mostly feature indie games, and may not run every week.

Sale summary lists:

Key:
⤷ indicates DLC, — specifies part of a pack, + shows alternative versions, ⚠ highlights things worth knowing, ♫ is obvious, and ... denotes a multi-pack.

Holiday Sale 2013 | 19/12/13 through 3/1/14:
Days 1-3, 4-6, 7-9, 10-12, 13-14.

Spring/Autumn Sale 2013 | 27/11/13 through 3/12/13:
All days.

Steam deals on other stores: (Related threads on CAG.)

Indie* bundle threads: (*Not always indie, nor always a bundle.)

Free stuff:
There are quite a few free games (mostly Free to Play) and mods available via the Steam platform, a comprehensive list of which can be found in this thread on the SPUF.
(NOTE: free games are not permanently attached to your Steam account like actual purchases would be. You'll need to manually download a game again from the website if you uninstall it.)

As an FYI, Freedom Fall Steam keys are now available in indie royale for people that purchased the Sigma Bundle.  Indie Bundle Wiki had claimed that Steam keys were available 3 days ago from the Desura's Collection page, but that was glitched for users that had purchased from both Groupees and Indie Royale and had activated their Groupees Desura key first.

As of this moment, Build a Bundle 6 Groupees keys have still not been added so that appears to still be wrong.

How am I supposed to juggle being in grad school, having a full time job, playing morrowind, and watching tv?

life is so hard
Forget grad school, McDonalds isn't hiring. Full time job...see prior McDonalds comment. TV is recycled, so you can watch whatever trash is on currently 50 years from now and it will still be equally trashy. That pretty much simplifies things.

Looks like Morrowind and TV will win this battle. ;)
Right now M-W is when I get all my school work done. I get off work and watch some tv as I catch up on CAG, do some HW, then watch more tv before I go to bed. Thursday-Sunday I catch up on video games. I must've played about 20 hours of morrowind this past weekend.

So you think I should get a masectomy? Da fuq? Dude u out there

Glad to see Pool Nation today. I hated that it didn't win the vote during the Winter Sale. Now if only they'd get around to discounting Pac-Man.
FYI kane and lynch dead men has gfwl as 3rd party drm not sure why enhanced steam didnt show it
That's because GFWL is being removed from all games this year.

Ultimately it's what stands between MysterD and happiness.

...not sure if I'm supposed to yellow-comic-sans that or not.

Yeah. That's consistent with what I read everywhere... I am expecting my full 8-quarters worth of arcade action. ;)
Does graphics, though...game looks ten years old. If it were arcade shooting in a pretty package I'd drop two bucks on it.

Drop out of school and quit your job. There you go.

I can't believe a grad student has to be told this. Are you enrolled in one of those shady online institutions?

You give me hope. If you can do grad school and play video games, I can be a good husband and dad, keep working on my art, and still get some games in :)

Kind of got addicted to this Steam malarkey. Had my Steam account for about a month now and spent over £300. Problem is, my computer is not powerful enough to run half of the games I own now 0_o. That £300 I spent was meant to go towards a new rig *sigh*. Looks like I need to work harder.

Yep, been there. I can run maybe 50 of the 300 games I own. And my PC seems to get weaker every day. Curse bundles.

The force is strong with this one.

I got my 14 year old a Playstation Plus subscription for Christmas. We're looking at the 'free' games and I say he should just 'buy' all of them so they're in his library. He's like "Eh, this one is a racing game and I don't care about those."
"Well, get it anyway in case you change your mind"
"But I'll never play it"
"So what? It's free, just buy it"
"Nah"
"IT'S LIKE TWO BUTTON PRESSES WHY WON'T YOU JUST PRESS THE TWO BUTTONS??"
"Whatever. Calm down, old man..."
And somewhere Ashes is in a corner crying little kitty tears for today's youth. Lol

Forget the TV... it's just not worth it. Also switch to a 36 hour day.

B/c who the hell are the 5 people (besides me) that actually owns K&L: Dead Men on the PC?
I can name two off the top of my head.

What are you running... my CPU X3-720 BE) is 5 years old... And my 5 year old GPU (GTX 260) would mostly cut it, but I decided to upgrade last year to a GTX 660. Thanks to the 360 and PS3 PC requirements had been held down for a long time.

A laptop with an integrated graphics card and a 1.6GHZ processor which I originally bought as a sole business computer before I got into gaming on the PC.

Thankfully the games and a new computer will be justified as a 'business expense' so upgrading should be simple within the next few months. Thinking of getting this. Thoughts? I am sure it will run most of what I have game wise, even if at minimal settings:

Game collection which I have built up in about 20 days is here. I only real play strategy games so do not need anything too exciting. Would be nice to hop onto Skyrim, even at medium settings once every so often though:

GPU looks weaksauce. (Not quite familar with that one, but using this for rough reference...) I'm really not too familiar with how GPU demanding RTS are these days.

The lowest GPUs that I'd consder (buying new) for gaming on is the GTX 650 Ti Boot and the 7850 GT... Both are likely around the $100 mark now.

Skyrim Mods like GPU RAM... preferably 2GB.

Top tip:

If you're in the UK (my Sherlock intuition says... maybe), get used to not buying from Steam. Our prices are often a fair bit higher than from other vendors.

Wherever you can buy in dollars and pay by PayPal, you'll probably save money. Check www.steamprices.com for a reference point. Other sources such as GreenManGaming and Gamersgate will often/occasionally have a better discount than Steam.

I think a lot of it comes down to our 20% VAT ruining all the fun, now watch all the yanks spit their cereal all over their monitors now we've mentioned sales tax.

:whee:

Edit: for clarification - GMG/Humble etc still offer Steam keys, which is what you're after. Make sure to check before buying.

Banner Saga Kickstarters.

I just got an email about the Banner Saga Sound Track...  Downloading it now.  Actually, listening to it now and so far so good. :)

On other topics..  I did one of my most hated thing people do on forums...  I changed my avatar.  I hope it doesn't through anybody for a loop.

I actually live in Sweden. I am British though and have a British bank account. Steam absolutely loathe that as they won't let people check out in a country which is different to where their card is registered. I had to lie a little about the registration country of my card. However, I can't check out in £ through the Steam software. Everything is in euros. I then get charged in Euros and my bank likes to add a couple of extra £ for the service of converting it over when they take the money out of my account. Means I have I have been avoiding Steam like the plague. I have used it for some stuff though (when there was just crazy deals!). Much of what I bought has been through getting in touch with people here, eBay (bought Bioshock 1 + 2 for £1.00 there as a bundle), HumbeBundle, Bundle Stars, GMG and a few other places.

If you contact steam support, telling them that your outside of your country due to some reason (ei. work/school etc) they will unlock your account to let you buy in steam. That's what I did as Im currently residing in Dubai and my CC is from my home country.

Purchasing from outside the country in which the card was issued
If you are attempting to make a purchase but you are not located in the country in which your card was issued, please contact Steam Billing and Support for assistance.

That's not any better - UK prices seem to be lower than the Euro prices on quite a few games. However, for the few purchases that you do make directly from Steam, would using something like Paysafecard to top up your Steam wallet (in €) work to avoid those currency conversion fees?

That sounds handy! I'll get in touch with them! Those extra fees that I have been paying could go towards more games 0_o
