New Thread:

This thread has been replaced by TSDT v11 :wave:

Daily Deal:
Please check the Steam homepage.

Weeklong Deals:
Steam usually has week-long deals that change on Mondays at 6PM UTC. They mostly feature indie games, and may not run every week.

Sale summary lists:

Key:
⤷ indicates DLC, — specifies part of a pack, + shows alternative versions, ⚠ highlights things worth knowing, ♫ is obvious, and ... denotes a multi-pack.

Holiday Sale 2013 | 19/12/13 through 3/1/14:
Days 1-3, 4-6, 7-9, 10-12, 13-14.

Spring/Autumn Sale 2013 | 27/11/13 through 3/12/13:
All days.

Steam deals on other stores: (Related threads on CAG.)

Indie* bundle threads: (*Not always indie, nor always a bundle.)

Free stuff:
There are quite a few free games (mostly Free to Play) and mods available via the Steam platform, a comprehensive list of which can be found in this thread on the SPUF.
(NOTE: free games are not permanently attached to your Steam account like actual purchases would be. You'll need to manually download a game again from the website if you uninstall it.)

Why is it so hard for people to understand in the trading forum that

H: A game

means i still have the game to sell while

H: a game gone

means it's already sold?

Everytime I post in there somebody messages me hours after I've already edited my post to reflect it's sold asking ARE YOU STILL SELLING THAT DO YOU STILL HAVE IT?

no. i don't.
I feel your pain: I have the same thing happen to me. I also have, every now and then, people adding me about some game - that I advertised 6 months ago during a sale - and expecting me to still have stock at the sale price. :cold:

Make sure to choose "friends and family" payment type.
That's another thing that I hate: when I'm selling games and they intentionally pay the other way*, presumably just to avoid paying a few cents in fees at their end. The fees that I then get charged eat up all of my profit - and sometimes mean that I'd be making a loss. AND THEN some of them rage at me when I point out that I didn't receive the whole amount due to the fees. :headache:

*While it is annoying, I don't include people who genuinely don't know about the fees in countries such as Germany - where F&F is not an option - in this group.

Was browsing the Microsoft PC store and there's some dirt cheap titles (only a few are Steamworks):

Batman Arkham Origins $15

Darkspore $3

Secret World $5

Darkness 2 $2

Stronghold 3 $3

Max Payne 3 $3

Saints Row 4 $15

So delete it from your list if it's not for sale. You can easily prevent the thing you're complaining about.

Never had this problem before, I always tell them to pay via gift/friends & family. But I don't sell often so maybe that's a factor.

Secret World for $5 might finally be my price point.

Edit: Except that it is out of stock. Should have looked before I got even remotely excited since everything is always out of stock at the Microsoft Store.

Anyone else like Blood Bowl? I played the board game eons ago, and kinda enjoyed the Legendary Edition that was bundled last month.

King's Bounty: Legions True Tactician Ultimate Pack | Steam Key: N6QK2-8I**D-LH0QY
I actually have allot of love for any Game Workshop game... (Likely not much of a surprise based upon the new forum avatar) That said, I've never played Blood Bowl. (I do have the game from the recent bundle but haven't even fired it up yet.)

I've noticed on the Microsoft store if you type "PC game" in the search box it brings up some additional games that aren't listed under the PC Games category for some reason.

On how to tell, you just have to know which games are and aren't Steamworks. My go to for that is to check the DRM listing at Gamersgate. That works about 98% of the time for me. Or you can just ask around if you aren't sure. Generally though there are certain publishers that have gone all Steamworks for their games from at least the last couple of years.

Most EA stuff will activate to Origin but unless it's a really recent EA game it's optional. There's a list on EA's site (sorry at work and being lazy with the not linking) but for those that don't I've seen reports of EA CS adding the game to people's accounts when presented with proof of purchase so you could also try that though it is YMMV.

Surprised it hasn't been mentioned here, but new Indie Royale is live - The Vapo(u)r Trail Bundle.

I'd list the titles included but I'm on mobile and I can't remember them all off the top of my head. No repeats though, as far as I can see. It could just be one of the better IR bundles of recent times.

:whee:

Edit:
PixelJunk Shooter
Gun Monkeys
Megabyte Punch
Ride 'em Low
Stronghold HD
Hexcells

Megabyte Punch is a repeat, but it was in a greenlight bundle, so people may have skipped it.. Note that the greenlight bundle was as low as $1 during the last couple hours before it ended though.

And Gun Monkeys is really just filler.

More importantly, people won't buy it as the their price point is "whatever it was 30 minutes ago".

Filthy Indie Royale casuals.

I really only want Ride'em Low out of that IndieRoyale Bundle. Megabyte Punch would be nice but I don't care that much since I have a tons of other games just like it.

Really? Megabyte Punch isn't that common IMO. I think it's one of the best games of its type on steam.

I meant that I have a bunch of platformers and beat'em ups, so it isn't that important to get a copy of it now. Ride'em Low is the kind of game I sink a bunch of hours into for no other reason than making me relive freshman year of high school, when Dr. Dre and Snoop ruled the rap game and lowriders were everywhere.

Megabyte Punch is like if the adventure segments in ssbb were actually fun while the one-on-one fighting was mediocre. I can't recall anything else quite like it on steam, and I wholeheartedly recommend it.

Truth be told, I haven't owned a stock height vehicle since 1995.

Today's "deal" Yet another early access game... who's price was lower in July.

Any of the Darksiders 2 DLC worth getting?
Someone asked a similar question at Reddit, and I answered this:

The Demon Lord Belial (adds some story levels);
Abyssal Forge (adds a new area);
Argul's Tomb (adds a new area);
Death Rides (adds more sidequests);

Everything else is just cosmetic / paid armor upgrades. Buying the Season Pass gives you Demon Lord Belial and Abyssal Forge, and it also gives you a special armor - buying both Belial and Forge on their own costs the same as the Season Pass by itself.

The last thing I needed in Darksiders 2 was more content. I got sick of the game as it was and started wishing for it to be over. It kept on going and I stopped playing, just lost interest.

I'm finding that with most DLC today. I got the Darksiders franchise pack last January sale and just sold off all the DLC (kept the extra Forge DLC it came with) and ended up paying like ~$3.75 for the base game.

That's like a year old though. Seems like Greenlight is going to stay, but it's nothing more than just a pre-steam game fanpage at this point.
Today at the Steam Dev Days conference Valve further reiterated the goal to pull the plug on greenlight. There aren't any articles I can link (it's a no-press convention) but you can check twitter for people posting about it.

It makes more financial sense for them to make Steam an open platform with 'buyer beware' plastered in big letters on all the store pages.
