New Thread:

This thread has been replaced by TSDT v11

Daily Deal:
Please check the Steam homepage.

Weeklong Deals:
Steam usually has week-long deals that change on Mondays at 6PM UTC. They mostly feature indie games, and may not run every week.

Sale summary lists:

Key:
⤷ indicates DLC, — specifies part of a pack, + shows alternative versions, ⚠ highlights things worth knowing, ♫ is obvious, and ... denotes a multi-pack.

Holiday Sale 2013 | 19/12/13 through 3/1/14:
Days 1-3, 4-6, 7-9, 10-12, 13-14.

Spring/Autumn Sale 2013 | 27/11/13 through 3/12/13:
All days.

Steam deals on other stores: (Related threads on CAG.)

Indie* bundle threads: (*Not always indie, nor always a bundle.)

Free stuff:
There are quite a few free games (mostly Free to Play) and mods available via the Steam platform, a comprehensive list of which can be found in this thread on the SPUF.
(NOTE: free games are not permanently attached to your Steam account like actual purchases would be. You'll need to manually download a game again from the website if you uninstall it.)

On the topics of backlogs, last year I added an estimated 500-600 games to my backlog (which was previously empty).

Last year I also joined CAG.

I don't believe this is a coincidence, but now there's nowhere to go but further down the rabbit hole :whee:

I don't know if it's been posted yet..

More info about the Steam controller (and some of the changes being made to it):
Haha, your controller is obsolete.

On the topic of shameless promotion, a new backlog alphabet blog entry is up. What I'm learning is that I own a lot of shitty games (though this last batch wasn't so bad).

Here's a game to cut the tension. Also because I know you guys need more games in your backlog

I think someone lied about the SR4 Child's Play DLC. It was said that it would be removed from the store on January 13th, but it's still available to buy, lol.

It might just be a communications issue between Valve and Volition. A community manager in this thread said they're looking into why the content is still available, suggesting that it won't remain there indefinitely.

People say Steam Digital hoarding is not a gateway drug. They were wrong.... My name is Stupidproz1, and I'm an addict.

Liked because it's the truth. Ok, not really ugly, but definitely not hot. Maybe a 5 or 6.
Okay, you're just basing that on her face. I think in this day and age we could be a little more fair to women and judge them on their entire package. I think those milk jugs bring her up to around a 7 or 8.

I'm not sure your opinions on how unattractive a model are can be considered valid, considering most of you look like hairy, sweaty taints.

I think someone got a little too enthusiastic with the Photoshop while doing touch-ups.  Part of it is just angle but the back side of leg probably shouldn't be looking like that.

Most people seem to think there will be an all Pixeljunk Humble bundle at some point, but of course that's just speculation.
Going to go out on a limb on this one.... Mooby?

I could see it, though I do think most of their games haven't even released on PC yet so they'll likely just be part of a bundle and not the whole bundle...

Never heard of his game but I found his article to be a good read...

Between the photoshopping and the depth of field on the shot that leg looks downright terrifying.

I think it's not out of the realm of possibility considering how much they tend to discount their older games. Pixeljunk Eden was $1 in the Winter Sale, and a few years ago on PSN they sold a bundle with Eden, Monsters, and Racers for $1 or $2.

I could see them putting Shooter 2 out on PC, then shortly after doing a Humble Weekly with that as the BTA and Shooter, Monsters, and Eden as the base bundle.

I know we're not the norm, but I wonder how the psychology of the CAG type compares.  When I see a low sale price, I don't necessarily think "Gotta get it now!" even with a countdown -- I often think "Ok, so it's been $5 once, it will be again so I just need to wait for the next $5 sale".

I do get the impression that a lot of publishers feel like they got too sale crazy in 2012-2013 which might explain the less than thrilling winter sales and slow start for the Amazon EC sale.  Yeah, you can boost sales short term with a discount but if everything is always being discounted then there's no incentive to buy it at MSRP, even if you want to play it soon since it'll likely be on sale in a few weeks.  Everyone mocked that one EA guy for talking about sales cheapening your IP but it feels as though more publishers are getting on board that train.

I think you're right. And I think they're right, from a business perspective. When you have a whole community of people buying hundreds of games that they never plan on playing, maybe you start to wonder if you're getting the most possible value out of your product. Maybe you start to wonder if eventually some of these people will stop buying current games because they already own so many they haven't gotten to yet...HAHAHAHAHAHAHA sorry couldn't get through that. But you guys know what I mean.

I'm terrible about checking those emails... I don't care about every damn little status update.. they need two classes of updates.. (real) Milestone updates (backer forum/shipping info/keys available) and just updates. ...just let me know when the game's available and what I need to do to get it.
See, I still use an actual email client. (Yeah, terribly behind the times, I know.) So seeing an email appear that says "Project Update" occasionally actually results in me taking a quick glance at the email. This happened to be one of the times. I don't think getting less frequent updates would actually increase the percentage I look at.

This place is just like any other hobbyist forum where the generally accepted rule of thumb is 'it's not done until it's overdone'.
Truth.

awesome, should be easier to get my new games White Space and Aj Lee's Ass Spanking Simulator onto Steam. The first DLC for ALASS will be a tebowdragon skin. (copied from his facebook)
but hoarding porn had more of a stigmata, now i hoard games
You're not fooling anyone here. We know it's both.
