New Thread:

This thread has been replaced by TSDT v11

Daily Deal:
Please check the Steam homepage.

Weeklong Deals:
Steam usually has week-long deals that change on Mondays at 6PM UTC. They mostly feature indie games, and may not run every week.

Sale summary lists:

Key:
⤷ indicates DLC, — specifies part of a pack, + shows alternative versions, ⚠ highlights things worth knowing, ♫ is obvious, and ... denotes a multi-pack.

Holiday Sale 2013 | 19/12/13 through 3/1/14:
Days 1-3, 4-6, 7-9, 10-12, 13-14.

Spring/Autumn Sale 2013 | 27/11/13 through 3/12/13:
All days.

Steam deals on other stores: (Related threads on CAG.)

Indie* bundle threads: (*Not always indie, nor always a bundle.)

Free stuff:
There are quite a few free games (mostly Free to Play) and mods available via the Steam platform, a comprehensive list of which can be found in this thread on the SPUF.
(NOTE: free games are not permanently attached to your Steam account like actual purchases would be. You'll need to manually download a game again from the website if you uninstall it.)

No titties. No win.

I'm behind in the thread, so this has probably been mentioned, but Gamersgate has BG2: Enhanced Edition for $6.25. Pretty sure that's by far the lowest it's been.
I bought the original EE for cheap a while back....don't think I can justify these games when I have the originals on GOG and mods do so much of what this does anyway sans some characters and a not very exciting imho battle arena. Thanks for the heads up though!

I know we're not the norm, but I wonder how the psychology of the CAG type compares. When I see a low sale price, I don't necessarily think "Gotta get it now!" even with a countdown -- I often think "Ok, so it's been $5 once, it will be again so I just need to wait for the next $5 sale".

I do get the impression that a lot of publishers feel like they got too sale crazy in 2012-2013 which might explain the less than thrilling winter sales and slow start for the Amazon EC sale. Yeah, you can boost sales short term with a discount but if everything is always being discounted then there's no incentive to buy it at MSRP, even if you want to play it soon since it'll likely be on sale in a few weeks. Everyone mocked that one EA guy for talking about sales cheapening your IP but it feels as though more publishers are getting on board that train.
2012 yes 2013 not realy tho

See, I still use an actual email client. (Yeah, terribly behind the times, I know.) So seeing an email appear that says "Project Update" occasionally actually results in me taking a quick glance at the email. This happened to be one of the times. I don't think getting less frequent updates would actually increase the percentage I look at.
^_^ Me too. Hell, I run claws-mail on my phone. I use it's full desktop-strength mail-filtering. I have a ton of email account. I also don't leave email on servers for more than a month (due to the 1986 Electronic Communications Privacy Act*) and never have since I first got email in the early 90s. I have large sets of filter rules to guide all my email into separate little boxes... so I don't have to read any of it.

*Now known to be used as legal justification post-Snowden.

To what, serial killers, sociopaths, addicts, introverts, exhibitionists, pedophiles, necrophiliacs, stock brokers, used car salesmen...

I'd imagine pretty close.
As an introvert, I'm tired of being misunderstood by the extrovert majority and being lumped in with the defectives. While the general population is approximately 75% extroverts and 25% introverts. Mensa* members are nearly the reverse, 65% introverts.

*Mensa membership is limited to people with the the top 2% of scores on standardized IQ tests.

Aw man.... I just watched a walkthrough for Dark Soul's gargoyle boss, and now I wanna install it and try again.

I guess I better finish this game before GFWL gets yanked.

Summoning NPC or player help makes this battle one of the easiest in the game. (Though, that can be applied to almost all the boss battles.)

I've actually been meaning to apply, if only to put it on my resume. (And to get a cool license plate frame.)
It's quite straightforward if you already have a qualifying test. IIRC, I qualified off my old GRE scores, the test later changed so they weren't accepting newer versions at the time.

They also have various social groups for all persuasions. There used to be a SadoMENSAchists group in my area.

...mostly I just wanted the gold sticker. ;)

I applied for Mensa on a lark back in the 90's.  I remember the test being pretty easy and I'd like to pretend it's because I'm so brilliant but really I suspect the test was weighted towards allowing people in.  Went to one or two meetings and the people seemed okay enough -- I didn't experience any of the snobbiness or socially dysfunctional creepiness that some state -- although it was definitely a nerdy boy's club.  I'd sympathize for any moderately attractive single woman who got into there (not because the people are terrible but I'd suspect an overflow of interest).  Ultimately the meetings were too far away to make the trip and I let my membership lapse at the end of the year.  They were sending me the newsletter until I changed residences.

The sub groups looked interesting and there were indeed groups for damn near everything from wine tasting to rock climbing to movies to board games to horticulture.  But, again, most of the action was an hour-plus away from me.

IMO. Buying AMD code for $17 was better deal. It's $2/$7 more, but you got two other games including unreleased Thief 2014. :D

Too bad it isn't 75%, would have bought the season pass.

But seriously guys, do you even want to be in the same club as a four-year-old girl named Anala Beevers?

Okay, this is more of an odd request. I'm looking to build a collection of steam emotions that have a "Deal With It" theme. I like to joke gift games to my friends. And when they yell at me, I just want to send them a flurry of emotes. Any help?

How do you summon help? And does it open you up to player invasions?
For summoning NPCs you need the white soapstone from Solaire of Astora. To use it you must be in human form, which can open you up to invasion (I was invaded once in my entire playthrough). For the Belfry Gargoyles you can summon Knight Lautrec to tank for you while you beat the living shit out of the first Gargoyle's tail. Kill the first one before the other arrives and the second kill is a cake walk.

Thanks. Now I'm torn between Dark Souls, Borderlands, and DayZ.

So much for finishing Bioshock Infinite. :(
BS:I still has DLC coming out, it can wait. DayZ I can't comment on. Borderlands is always fun to jump in to, but can be a time sink if allowed to be. Dark Souls really needs to be played on it's own with time set aside for it, imo. Less frustration if you can focus solely on it. I just finished my playthrough last week and it was worth my time. If you can find a way to enjoy it, not many games can leave you with such a feeling of accomplishment. (Which, in reality, is kinda silly given it's just a video game.)

I always ace the Mensa tests in airplane magazines, but I don't see any reason to apply beyond having bragging rights.  I play Everyday Genius Square Logic.  I don't need any other evidence of my puzzle-solving prowess.

Ride'em Low is so bad that I'm sure I that I'll have 10-15 hours into it in no time. I bought my first hydraulics kit and proceeded to barrel roll my 1980 Cadillac Casino in 30 seconds. Next goal is to 360 flip my car.
