LEGO Deals 3

I would agree. I got the City cement truck. There was a ton of packing tape because the box had been ripped open. Everything inside was just fine.

Yeah I have ordered about 7-8 of them ranging from good to like new. I have only had one set that look really bad but it had everything inside. It was one of the smaller $10 sets I got for like $6...two giant barcode stickers, completely covered in tape, and one side was crushed in. Lol it was one of my daughters christmas presents and she couldnt even tell what it was until i opened it. All of the other sets have look practically new.

On another note...the Orthanc Tower I bought was very good condition and the description was fine so im not too worried about it but the Dol Guldur Battle set I ordered had two in stock. Both were the exact same price and both very good condition but one said "Item will come repackaged."...does this mean it will not even have the original box or maybe that itll be one of the ones loaded with tape? I ordered the other one which said just minor cosmetic issue to the box but since they were both the same price and VG condition it kinda has me worried it wont necessarily be the one i ordered. Id really like it to have the box and not be covered in tape lol.

Picked up a Rancor pit on AWD but I'm a little nervous because the condition was only 'Good' ... do they sell sets that are actually missing pieces? I have no issue with the box being damaged, but I would be pissed if something like the rancor or another minifig was missing ...
That actually happened to me, and with this set too. It was missing the Rancor and all the minifigs, and even some bricks. I couldn't even put the set together.

Worse, it was after the return period was over. I had had nothing but positive experiences from AWD, so I stuck it in my backlog for a rainy day.

Amazon accepted the return and refunded my money. It was painless, and I spent maybe 5 minutes on chat with an email followup.

I wouldn't worry about "repackaged". I've bought things that said that, which just meant more tape.

If you're nervous, check it when you receive it. I checked all my other AWD orders and the boxes were either factory sealed or had everything. It was a one time fluke and Amazon made it right. I continue to order AWD without hesitation.

Yeah there is always the chance that because it's a Star Wars set someone stole the mini figures.  Just check and could always return it.

Built the cement truck with my son this weekend.  I would put it in the good, not great, category.  I think the playability is limited since the cement portion of the truck falls off just looking at it.  I will have to look at it to see if I can modify it and lock some of the pieces in.  My son is usually pretty good about fixing the stuff he breaks, but he is constantly calling me to come fix this one.

I picked up the Jabba Sail Barge for $74ish from AWD last night. Like everyone else I've had good experiences with Amazon so the "good" condition didn't deter me. The only original trilogy left for me now is the Ewok Village and that might be awhile.

I probably just bought your returned set =-D jk

The wheel loader looks pretty cool, but I'd have to leave the logos off since Volvo is a competitor.

I must have the technic truck and loader, and I typically don't even like technic. And it had to be trains for city. My wallet is taking a huge hit this year,SMH.

Anymore videos ? :)

No more videos that I know of, but the fair just started today.  The good pictures with prices and piece counts will be in 17-18 days in NYC.

While looking I did come a cross this interesting figure....

  • At the end of 2006, LEGO said there were four billion figures in existence, but the number is expected to rise to almost eight billion in 2019

Completely unrelated to Lego, but I know there are some people in Atlanta on this thread...everybody make it home ok? Luckily I was working from home yesterday and didn't have to deal the the insanity on the interstate.

Back on topic...ordered the evil lair set from AWD last night. I'm looking forward to building that set. The legs on Lord Business are just ridiculous.

Yeah i was working at home as well so I didnt have to deal with it here about an hour and a half north of ATL. Some family live in the Roswell area and had to park their cars about 2 miles away from their house and walk home.

I'm looking for work so this is one an instance where being at home was convenient. My wife is a couple of blocks from daycare and thankfully were able to get the kids home around 4, though it took her 3 hours for a 45 minute trip. Numerous friends and co-workers either spent all night driving outside the perimeter to get home or slept in hotel lobbies, which were apparently fully booked by the evening.

It's crazy how unprepared Atlanta is for these things. But I suppose it's so rare the infrastructure isn't worth the investment.

How much was it?

What I thought was interesting is the LEGOs are glued in his LEGOs. The regular legs are glued to 1x2 bricks.

I love the fact that 2,000 children had to stay in their school over night. I lived 2.5ish miles away from my high school and middle schools. I would walk home when it's 40 below and 10 feet of snow on the ground before I sleep in my school. If they tried to stop me I would press charges for kidnapping.

$56. That was the first time I have seen it for less than MSRP. I do like the irony (proper use of irony??) of the legs being glued on when a centerpiece of the set is the Krazy glue tube.

The weather wasn't that bad. I have been in much worse. I once had the opportunity to make a trip on the Bering Sea in gale force winds. I declined and hung out in Dutch Harbor for the day until the weather cleared and I could take the plane. Had to walk to the grocery store (200 or so yards away) to get some provisions (beer). Those were the most miserable 400 yards of walking ever. Weather coming out of the Bering Sea in the winter can be brutal.

Spending the day today watching movies and working on the LEGO backlog with the kids.

Yeah the storm wasn't bad, it's just the south is stupid, you don't tell everyone to go home early right as it starts snowing when you have few plows.

The set was about that price new the week it came out on Amazon, but just for a few days. It is ironic that a set about LEGOs being glued has glued LEGOs. I saw the review on Eurobricks.

Any idea where I could find a Ghost Train for 40 bucks or less? I get worried that once the stuff is discontinued that you have a window to get it cheap before it's a collector's item. I see the Crazy Scientist still pretty cheap on ebay but the Ghost Train is mostly MSRP.

Travel back in time 6 months when every store around had them for $52.

Yeah... I missed that sale. Plus I found so many other Monster Fighters on clearance I kinda fell into the desire to collect all of them. I'm still gonna pass on the zombies one since it's already pricy and not particularly that cool.

If you're going to do that, you'd be better off hitting the last couple of Target clearances (winter '12 and summer '13) when they were 70% off at various stores i.e. $23.98...

At this point, you're probably shit out of luck unless you find them on clearance at a Lego store, or maybe some sale/deal at Toys R Us that brings it barely below actual MSRP, or a lucky ebay deal.

If you look at this picture, you can see a set number in the bottom corner.
Thanks. I wasn't sure if it was a MOC or not, but I recognized the unicorn cat thingie from the released sets.

But $125 for 939 pieces... ew.

Looking at it more closely, I still have a lot of pieces that comes in that set.

Tons of new pictures, just started looking at them but that Temple is pretty!

NinjaGo Temple is awesome. The Arctic sets are actually really nice. The Creator "City" set is cool. Can't wait to see the horrible prices for them in a few weeks.

Everything else was really weak.
I love the Agents concept of Agents mobile headquarters but the execution looks sloppy. Arctic looks cool but skippable. I really like the Lego movie stuff but not a fan of their "throw darts at a board" pricing method. Kinda want to consider collecting them but some of the currently released sets are unappealing. All the movie stuff at the fair looked really, really, cool though.

Is that a confirmed price?

I like most of the arctic stuff, and wish there were more Friends pictures.

I wish they would do some of the MBA stuff that were more girl-centric. My daughter likes to do MOC stuff with here Friends sets and I think she would find the techniques in the MBA sets useful. I just can't really get her to use them since they are rocket ships and robots. She even let her brother build her MBA set without any comment which tells me she really isn't interested at all.

Ghostbusters!

Let's see how badly LEGO fucks it up.

Also feel bad for the other Ghostbusters set. Your idea was exactly the same but you lost.

Yeah, I saw that. Were they looking at the model design or what? I mean, no offense, but this is just fan service kinda stuff anyway, it's not like it was a novel idea.

I wonder how much the Volvo Wheel Loader will cost. I like the fact that the power function motors and servos are included.

As for Arctic, I'd be content with just getting a couple of the hooded minifigs to add to my Winter Village Xmas display.

I just wish they'd greenlight one of the many Zelda entries lol.
There is another one for the "late spring" ruling. I think it's more Nintendo holding it up than anything else. Late spring one doesn't have anything amazing, I'm kind of hoping for Adventure Time to become a set.

The Arctic sets also have the amazing ands so underused snowshoes. My problem with the sets will be price. LEGO used to make $50-$60-$70-$80 "bases", a Police Station would be $80, the Fire Station $60-$70. Now it seems all of them are $100. And with the Arctic sets that really isn't needed, they could, and should have, made that big mining thing it's own set and make the base $60.

Good news about the Ghostbusters set however I hope they can keep it true to the original design. Looking at you blocky Delorean hood

I would like to see the female scientist one made.  It isn't licensed, so it shouldn't be that difficult to do and I bet it would see a bunch.

I wonder if the Zelda hold up has to do with Nintendo licensing with K'nex.  Who knows what that contract says and it may have some vague language that gives K'nex exclusivity when it comes to building and construction type toys.

LEGO will just rule that the female mini figure set is too vague / similar to the Friends $10 sets and the CMS.

Any word on what The Simpsons minifigures look like?  I'm not talking about the Simpsons House, already saw those.  And is it safe to assume that they'll be in blind bags?

They aren't making the whole Ghostbuster set, just use Town Hall or the Fire Station and MOD them.

Simpson minifigures will be released in May?  I think it's normally April or May.  Homer has a 1x1 round tile that's a donut and a 1x2 tile that's something else.
