This thread will maintain a list of all current and upcoming sales and markdowns on the Xbox Live Marketplace / Xbox Games Store for the USA.  YMMV in other regions.  If non-US sales are listed, they will be marked with their applicable region(s).

Please note:

  • You cannot currently buy any Xbox 360 content on xbox.com using your account balance, you can only use an active credit card or PayPal. To use your balance, you must make purchases on your console.  Unfortunately, even "purchasing" free content through the web site like trials requires an alternative method of payment tied to your account, though adding an empty MasterCard / Visa gift card that is registered for online purchases will work.  Xbox One games can be purchased on the web site with your account balance, but DLC cannot.
  • Some sales are intended for Gold subscribers only, as noted within each section.  This requires being a paid subscriber or within a console-activated "1 month complimentary Gold trial" account.  Neither 48 hour trials, 14 day trials nor free weekends qualify.
  • All known sales and information on sales should make their way into the OP. Major Nelson usually updates his blog with new sales information every other Tuesday.
  • ALL OFFERS ARE SUBJECT TO CHANGE! No information within this thread can or should be construed as accurate (or still valid), therefore ...
  • Always verify Xbox Live Marketplace prices before your purchase!
  • Spend wisely, have fun, and enjoy!

Can anyone recommend Driver: San Francisco or Dirt3? I haven't played a good racer since Need For Speed Underground 2 and I've been wanting a good one to drop some time into. The reviews on them are kinda weird, I'll also download the demos and try them out first but I was wondering if anyone here actually liked 'em.

Scratch that. There are no demos for the games. lol

anyone have an opinion on Runner2? I know its cheap but I'd like to here CAG perspectives on it...
It plays like a rhythm game in a platformer's skin. There's a TON of content for your money, if that's your thing. I paid $5 or $7.50 at a previous sale and didn't regret it. Only thing is the aforementioned crapton of content if completions are your thing.

Can I get some thorough opinions on Dante's Inferno? I know it's like God of War, but the Gamespot review had me thinking it wasn't worth my time. Money is not the issue, but would it be a worthwhile venture time wise?

I love runner-type games, and this is the best I've played. It's also very adaptable to your skill level. You can just run through every level on easy, try to complete all of the optional challenges, or anything in-between.

If I search it right now, I see a $19.99 purchase link even though I already own the Game on Demand. Several other people in the thread reported the same thing. So far that's the only game where that's happened to me.
Someone previously said it had to do with a change in the game file or them reuploading it. It's happened with other games like Wolfenstein 3D and Bully. You have to go through Download History like you mentioned to avoid a charge.

There's a demo, which I enjoyed a lot, but I'm also a huge GoW fan and love games that play like that. It's like $4 so I'd say why not. If it was $14, then nah.

Does anyone know if the Capcom Cabinet game comes with ALL of the games unlocked for the $2 price?

Just wanted to say RIP to Irrational games.
Levine is a tool, laying off 100+ people who made him rich and famous by creating some of the most appreciated games of the last gen (that also sold bloody well), just because he wants to work on a smaller project. His ego just potentially destroyed the lives of many, many talented programmers, and even though Irrational is helping them find another job, it's just a dick move altogether. I feel sad for the programmers, not for the brand, and definitely not for Levine who's being a giant douche here.

I ended up picking up Ridge Racer and Dirt 3 last night. I just had to draw the line at 2 racing games - considered Driver and even the $2 motocross game, but I can only play so much racing and I thought RR:U and Dirt 3 were more my style. Will probably be buying Dust just because it's so highly recommended.

Nothing for me in the first 1 day sale, but I'm excited to see more stuff tonight.

Ridge Racer is totally worth it, especially if you liked the FlatOut games (also made by Bugbear). Tons of content and there's even a lovely level editor, can't go wrong with that one. The mixed reviews are only from the fact it's hardly a RR game at all.

Can I get some thorough opinions on Dante's Inferno? I know it's like God of War, but the Gamespot review had me thinking it wasn't worth my time. Money is not the issue, but would it be a worthwhile venture time wise?
It is a decent God of War clone (in terms of gameplay) - and it isn't very long. So if you are wondering if it's worth your time, the short length is probably a good thing.

This is where price comes into play. At $60 the game was too short. It's only about half the length of a typical God of War. The game-play is VERY similar though. For $3.74, it's probably worth checking out since it can be beaten in just a couple of sittings (or 1 long marathon of 6 hours).

I had it on PS3 years ago. For this price, I'm getting it again on 360. So it's certainly worth it for a single play-through - provided you like this style of game and don't expect a bunch of sophisticated combos. It's very simple, and more timing based. On easy difficulty it is essentially a button masher, but so is God of War.

So wanting to work on smaller games makes someone a douche? Sure it sucks that the studio is downsizing and it happens often enough in the games industry. I believe anyone laid off will be able to land on their feet within 2K or at other studios.

If you look at it lots of veteran devs are going the smaller indie route. Often times when I read previews on indie games it has devs that left big studios such as Ubisoft or EA or somewhere with a AAA budget to form their own company and work on smaller stuff. The difference here is Ken Levine is extremely well known due to Bioshock. I respect that he wants to focus on smaller games. Lots of my favorite games from the past from years have been from small studios with non-traditional games like Gone Home. Add Ken Levine to that mix and I'm excited to see what he comes up with.

Sure it sucks that the studio is basically being slaughtered but sometimes you have to follow your passion and Levine confounded the studio so that's a choice he made. Am I sad there will be no more Levine + Bioshock? Yeah. But I think the way Infinite ended was great so I'd like to see some new ideas rather than a franchise that's milked to death.

I don't think it's about the money and not being greatful. Heck he'll probably be making less or at least be on a much smaller budget so I wouldn't call it greed. I'd call it passion. And no one said Levine deserves a pity party when he's the one who made the decision. We don't know the full story or what the game is. It never amazes me how quickly gamers can spew hatred.

That's unfortunate for everyone who got laid off, but why would Levine have to stay if he doesn't want to make triple A games anymore? And not that it matters in this discussion, but is he actually rich or are you just assuming because of how popular the Bioshock series has been?

I can't believe I'm not participating in this sale because my obsessive purchasing has rendered my 320GB hard drive and 32GB of USB memory and 4GB of system memory full. I mean I guess I could delete some games and be happy I have a license to redownload, but I don't feel like I should have to do that in the world of terabytes

There will probably be another Bioshock. 2K has the rights.

On the bright side, a Disney night of lackluster discounts saves me some money for the rest of the week. I have time to play the games I already bought for a night.
That markdown was from last night. It's probably just a permanent markdown that has nothing to do with the one day sales.

His ego just potentially destroyed the lives of many, many talented programmers, and even though Irrational is helping them find another job, it's just a dick move altogether. I feel sad for the programmers, not for the brand, and definitely not for Levine who's being a giant douche here.
Please provide an explanation of how Levine should have handled this correctly. Also, please provide detailed information of how Irrational Games is structured, Ken Levine's ownership of it, employee contract information and other relevant information that helped you form your opinion.

There's a whole lot of information and details that most people don't know (and probably will never know). Ken Levine could be a wonderful guy or a horrible person. To jump to the conclusion that Ken Levine is a jerk simply from limited information new stories out today is incredibly sophomoric.

Agreed. I think too many people are taking the statement at face value rather than reading between the lines.

Can I get some thorough opinions on Dante's Inferno? I know it's like God of War, but the Gamespot review had me thinking it wasn't worth my time. Money is not the issue, but would it be a worthwhile venture time wise?
Well worth a play through. If the idea of God of War combat in hellish environments based on the seven deadly sins sounds enjoyable, go for it. Its not quite as fluid as GOW, but still good.
