This thread will maintain a list of all current and upcoming sales and markdowns on the Xbox Live Marketplace / Xbox Games Store for the USA.  YMMV in other regions.  If non-US sales are listed, they will be marked with their applicable region(s).

Please note:

  • You cannot currently buy any Xbox 360 content on xbox.com using your account balance, you can only use an active credit card or PayPal. To use your balance, you must make purchases on your console.  Unfortunately, even "purchasing" free content through the web site like trials requires an alternative method of payment tied to your account, though adding an empty MasterCard / Visa gift card that is registered for online purchases will work.  Xbox One games can be purchased on the web site with your account balance, but DLC cannot.
  • Some sales are intended for Gold subscribers only, as noted within each section.  This requires being a paid subscriber or within a console-activated "1 month complimentary Gold trial" account.  Neither 48 hour trials, 14 day trials nor free weekends qualify.
  • All known sales and information on sales should make their way into the OP. Major Nelson usually updates his blog with new sales information every other Tuesday.
  • ALL OFFERS ARE SUBJECT TO CHANGE! No information within this thread can or should be construed as accurate (or still valid), therefore ...
  • Always verify Xbox Live Marketplace prices before your purchase!
  • Spend wisely, have fun, and enjoy!

The Mako was terrible, good riddance.
God I love this gif. Makes me chuckle every time I see it. Thanks. Also I loved the Mako. Those sections had so much potential by adding in an "exploration" feel to the universe. The probing in the newer ones feels pointless and grindy.

I really wish Microsoft would just allow the use of portable hard drives. I have a couple 1TB ones lying around that I'd prefer to use.
Agreed, but now that the One is out we will probably never see that support sadly.

EDIT:

I also meant to ask whats the best rated Flash drive I could use for the Xbox.

I don't know why so many people are down on Alan Wake's American Nightmare. It's an arcade game with emphasis on 'arcade.' Yeah it has a short story mode, but the idea is to take the combat aspect of the original Alan Wake and have a survival based, score attack game. That's what it is and it's great.

Also, Halo: Reach. A lot of newer/younger fans will tell you this is the best Halo yet, but long-time fans tend to think differently about it, and generally it didn't age well. ODST had the greatest Halo campaign in a long time (if not ever), thanks to an open-world gameplay with a lot of freedom on how to play the game. Halo: Reach, when it comes to the campaign, is a giant step backwards: linear, boring, plus the storyline is only interesting if you care A LOT about the Halo universe, because if you're not VERY familiar with it, you won't care less about this prequel that has nothing to do with Master Chief's saga. The horde mode is decent, though I was not a fan of it in any Halo game, and the multiplayer is another step in the wrong direction if you ask me. Halo 3 was near-perfect, but the class and perk-systems don't work that well with Halo, it's something for COD frankly (and Halo 4 further went the COD-direction, though at least it was better than Reach). It's like Bungie failed to realize why people enjoyed the multiplayer for Halo 1-3 and the "revolutionary" (for Halo at least) campaign in ODST, and made a mixture that hardly makes sense for Reach. Not a bad game per se, just not quite impressive as Halo 1-3 when those came out thanks to various bad decisions. Oh, and if you're overly used to modern FPS games (COD, Battlefield, even Halo 4), you might have a bad time using Halo Reach because, unlike Halo 4, this one's got no "COD-style" controls, so I have a terrible time going back to playing it since it's so hard to get used to that control scheme again. Lastly, I picked the game up on eBay as a download code for 6.50$ 2 or 3 years ago, so it can be had cheaper.
Halo Reach's story bastardizes the Halo universe. There are tons of issues conflicting it with the rest of the lore, not to mention problems within it's own story. I kind of dug the individual classes shtick, but that COD stepping stone eventually destroyed the feel of the Halo MP. I also loved ODST, but I wish it were longer. Don't want a sequel though, because that means 343's going to be working on it, and that's no bueno (just take a look at Halo 4).

Halo Reach I think might've been the start of the "cloning" wave where franchises started to borrow stuff from others to appeal to that audience. Halo 2 will always have a special place in my heart. Dual wielding and super bouncing, the original zombies gametype, sword glitching, many fun times were had.

Back on topic though, debating whether to get Driver SF, or to hold off until it goes lower somehow. My backlog is huge enough, and I barely play as it is. =\

Also, did anyone else notice that spylon's site didn't pick up the rock band blitz drop? Everything else is there though. I only mention it because it seems weird.
I'm not sure if XBLDB even has an offers page for Rock Band Blitz. If it does, my Google-fu wasn't able to find it. The game's page just has songs and avatar stuff. He's said in the past that the site has trouble cataloging the music game stuff because of all the DLC they have. It also missed some of the Guitar Hero 5 drops from last week.

I was actually looking forward to Fable III DLC being on sale this week, wonder why it isn't happening anymore?
Fable III DLC was never mentioned as being on sale, just the full game.

Probably because they took the worst aspect of the retail game and made a new game that focuses on it.

Any more recommendations on Azuras Wrath or Dirt 3? What's holding me back is I'm not into anime and I already own Dirt 2.
Dirt 2 was an incredible experience to me, maybe that's why Dirt 3 felt short in every aspect. Didn't like it. I'm waiting Asura to be a GWG game, matter of time, Hitman absolution as well.

Does anybody know/remember when the daily deals end? Im most likely going to get Dante's Inferno, but I want to make sure tonight doesn't have a slew of games I rather have.

Long time Halo player here. As in I'm in my mid 30s and used to system link original Xbox consoles together to play multiplayer with as many screens and players as possible. Nothing can quite recapture the social magic that getting a bunch of geeks into the same room creates, but Reach was by far my favorite Halo game since those days. ODST was a one and done affair for me.
Halo is always Halo, in the end. I didn't enjoy Reach much, given it was in some things a step backwards from ODST (why going back to the linear structure?), and in others it didn't feel a good jump forward in the multiplayer. It just didn't feel as polished and balanced as the first 3, but I agree it's fun with friends, especially in custom modes.

Halo 2 was insanely fun back then. Indeed the dual wielding and, for the first time, an impressive variety of maps, modes and things to do. The lower FOV compared to Halo 1 initially put me off, but once I got used to it, it was the go-to game with friends for a long, long time. Good old times with me and a couple friends meeting almost every afternoon after school, turning on Halo 2 and going on amazing matches, sometimes even recording them on VHS. That game was awesome. Halo 3 gave me back similar sensations, but online. Just so damn fun all the way, and the editor really gave it plenty of depth. Indeed it's Reach that started to turn things badly, they just though that adding a couple COD-like features into Halo 3 will make it relevant or interesting, but that wasn't really the case. Also they (wrongly) assumed (imho) that the Halo universe's generic sci-fi setting is so damn interesting that they can make something totally unrelated to the Master Chief saga appealing to the non-hardcore fanbase. I consider myself a big Halo fan as I spent hundreds of hours between the games, but I never cared much about the storyline, felt very generic sci-fi stuff to me and I'm pretty much only into seeing what will happen with MC and Cortana. As such, Reach's campaign gave me nothing, as it was not as good and fresh as ODST. And the online is also a weak point as said, can't just make Halo 3 a couple years later with smaller maps, adding jetpacks and stuff and call it a new Halo experience. It wasn't enough and the balance was way off as well. I can't even feel overly bad about Bungie leaving the Halo saga for good, Reach showed that they had no ideas anymore since Halo 3, bar a couple additions to ODST (that, however, had no actual multiplayer). Halo 4 was even more of a Halo that wanted to be COD: the classes, the perks, the streaks, the small maps, the leveling. Except, COD is rehashing itself but it's a formula that works amazingly at this point. Ghosts was meh, but Black Ops 2 was so damn polished, fun, balanced and it seems like they thought of every single detail. Halo 4, on the other hand, still feels overpowered on some weapons and items, and the random spawn of superweapons really kills the balance as well. The only thing I really liked about Halo 4's evolution is the speed: Halo always felt a bit too slow for my arena FPS tastes (keep in mind I come from Quake 3 Arena, Unreal Tournament and the likes) despite loving it, and Halo 4 at least came closer. But it was a mess, a hardly balanced mess that overly advantages luck and noobs, unfortunately. The campaign was also very COD-ish: very spectacular but also damn linear.

But yeah, Halo off-topic aside, I'm definitely picking up Driver San Francisco. Some users might remember that, before February games were announced, I was complaining that there haven't been racing games on GwG, and there's rarely any good sale on those as well. Now in a few weeks I scored a free copy of NFS Hot Pursuit, and there's some awesome offers like Dirt 3 and Driver San Francisco (plus the underrated Ridge Racer Unbounded which I already own). My wishes have been granted.

Which reminds me, Ridge Racer Unbounded is a bit of an unsung piece. It got a lot of backlash because it was nothing like Ridge Racer games, plus it isn't overly original (it's like a mixture of FlatOut 2 and Split/Second, both for the crashes, the driving and the artstyle). However, the driving is very solid, there's a lot of tracks and gamemodes, and, unlike nearly any other racing game on console, it's got a level editor which really boosts the lenght and gives room to creativity. It's block-based and it's nowhere near as the TrackMania games for example, but there's tons of different track pieces to place, and you can also add tons of items, destructible or otherwise to the roads too, effectively making it a very open editor that allows you some really crazy tracks. For 5 bucks, it's one of the most content-filled arcade racers around and it's an all-around very solid package. The online part has always been pretty much broken (even at launch it was hard to join lobbies), but with this price there'll likely be new people playing. If anyone's into the game and needs some online buddies for it, I'm always up for a run or two, my GT is baboy1337.

Did Crono change his username? :p

In all seriousness though I kinda agree about Reach. I was pretty uninterested in the campaign and while I liked the MP it got old. Felt too different from previous Halos (and like you I have many great memories from 1 and 2). Halo 4 took an even bigger step in the wrong direction thanks to 343.

Does anybody know/remember when the daily deals end? Im most likely going to get Dante's Inferno, but I want to make sure tonight doesn't have a slew of games I rather have.
Actually I was wondering about the same thing: "When the daily deals end?"

Dante's INferno is def. buy for me, I've seen few youtube vids and YES I want it!!! + with the price its right up cheapass valley : )

DI and Bastion are the today's picks for me!

Although its sad, I should be getting my $10 Xbox GC by Firday and its not in my inbox yet ; / Guess I'll spend that on something else.

With the number of people asking about the timing of Daily/Weekly deals, I think we need to have something worded in the OP. They've been pretty consistent with timing since I started religiously following the deals last summer. If the OP likes what I have and wants to C&P (or wants to make changes), I don't mind!

Timing for Weekly Deals

  • Weekly deals are rotated in/out on Tuesdays
  • Sale items are usually discounted at approximately 12:30 AM GMT, Tuesday (7:30 PM EST, 4:30 PM PST Monday Night)
  • Sale items are taken off discount the following Tuesday at roughly 12 PM GMT (7 AM EST, 4 AM PST)
**Warning: Ending time not as consistent, procrastinators beware!**

[*]Note that there is roughly a 12-hour overlap between sales. Sale items for both weeks will be available for approximately 12 hours in the Monday night/Tuesday morning timeframe
Timing for Daily Deals

  • Timing is generally consistent with weekly deals, except on a daily scale.
  • Daily Deals are posted at approximately 12:30 AM GMT (7:30 PM EST, 4:30 PM PST)
  • Daily Deals are removed about 36 hours later (12 PM GMT, 7 AM EST, 4 AM PST the following day)
Example: Microsoft advertises a "Wednesday Spectacular Sale"
  • Items will be placed on sale at approximately 12:30 AM GMT, Wednesday (7:30 PM EST, 4:30 PST Tuesday Night)
  • Items will be taken off discount at approximately 12 PM GMT Thursday (7 AM EST, 4 AM PST)

Can someone please explain to me, in detail, the pricing model for Capcom Arcade Cabinet and all games that come with it? I can't seem to find any information about it in this thread and a simple google search takes too long.

With this sale, now I understand why so many of you are always talking about backing up or archiving your digital stuff.

It just dawned on me that I won't be able to redownload xbla or GoD titles if servers go offline and even indie titles (One Finger Death Punch!) if xbl support goes away as well. So much for busting out something in the future for nostalgia's sake like I just did with SSB N64. I guess there won't be any xbla classics!

Just forgotten. Really hope there's some master plan to consolidate with that awesome cloud MS always boasts of and backs up all this stuff. Of course that's spending money and not making it for them. Goodwill perhaps?

Well, off to download Bastion. And bum rush backing up the digital backlog.

The base game, that's on sale now, and is required before you can have any of the other packs work, contains the actual menu system and the first three games, 1943, Avengers (not THAT avengers) and Black Tiger? I think (not sure about teh 3rd one off my head). Each of the other packs contains 3 more games each, sorted by their year of release. Details on the packs are here: http://www.capcom-unity.com/xantista/blog/2013/02/07/capcom-arcade-cabinet-full-games-list-release-dates-and-pricing. If you own all 15 games (either through the all-in-one pack or by buying the other packs), you'll get two bonus games.

Now all of that being said, I got the all in one pack last time it was on sale, and there are a few gems in that collection, but by and large most of the games are stinkers. Also, if you're a completionist that likes getting all of the achievements, GOOD LUCK, as some of them are insane. .gun smoke and pirate ship hegimaru make completing ghosts n goblins seem trivial. =/

There's a section on my dashboard called Upcoming under the sale tile and it shows a picture from ac brotherhood (not 100% sure though), so that means the game is going to be on sale this week

He was being sarcastic. But one thing worth mentioning is that they gave the games modern amenities like online multiplayer and casual modes so that the games are playable, like how Mega Man 10 had a casual mode. It's not just a romdump like other classic games collections. So for 60 cents a game, it might be worth that. Black Tiger in particular is like the old school Castlevanias.

I sometimes delete old games to make room for new ones in the hopes that I can redownload them in the future (and that they don't take them off the market). But I'm wondering if anyone uses flash drives to keep games? I've thought about doing that.
I don't want to keep spending around $15 for about 30 GB of storage space, and at this point in the 360's life I don't want to buy a new hard drive either. One of those save modding programs has a browser feature that let's you move entire games back and forth between Xbox 360 formatted memory devices and PC hard drives. I have over 100 GB of my purchased GonD titles stored on my computer.

I can't instantly play them, but having them saved locally gives me peace of mind. Also, when I want to play one of those games copying them back to a 360 formatted memory device is faster than redownloading them from Live.

I use a 120 GB hard drive, two 32 GB USB devices, and one 16 GB USB device. I have 30 GB free on on the hard drive. One of the 32 GBs is filled with XBLA games, and the other has a couple GonDs. The 16 GB drive is used to move GonDs to my PC, and to play GonDs that are brought back from my PC.

Just make sure you have some kind of anti-virus software running if you install such programs. I saw someone say the program I use now comes bundled with ad-ware. I'm guessing a crappy toolbar.

I used to just delete stuff I wasn't actively using because I figured I could always download it again later, but now with the Alan Wake issue I'm trying to save everything to USB sticks.

Anyone know if armored core is active online ?
I can't tell you but be aware that the game requires a substantial patch of ~800mb before you can play online. It's on the same on PS3 if you were hoping to nix that. The previous game required a ~700mb patch and is dead online. (I just tried to play it this weekend.)

Heh, sorry about some of these long posts, I'd rather make one or two and explain all my views than make 20 shorter comments. I like to explain why I make preferences, recommendations or criticisms, so that it doesn't come of as fanboyism, plus if even one user finds my lenghty advices and opinions helpful... I'm glad. It also comes from my personal experience: when it comes to sales, I don't follow half-phrase advices like "hey this game is good buy it", but if someone describes in detail why it's something to buy and convinces me, I go for it. I already followed multiple CAG advices and, gotta say, I did not have regrets so far. Hopefully my experience can also help people on the fence ;)

Thanks havent played a ac since for answer just dont want to buy and its dead online

If I search it right now, I see a $19.99 purchase link even though I already own the Game on Demand. Several other people in the thread reported the same thing. So far that's the only game where that's happened to me.
I got the same thing & was curious about this. Had to redownload from my history section in my account.
I used a token, which I guess most people did too. So for the people who actually bought it instead of redeeming a code, do they see it as purchased?

So if I'm reading this right, Dantes Inferno has no difficulty achievements right? Time to be a lazy fucker and get an easy 1000G. I just played through Mass Effect 2 + 3 on Insanity, plus Im tackling Striders hard difficulty tomorrow, so don't judge me!

Gotcha, thanks. I was worried something might happen where you couldn't download the dlc chapters or AN. Beat those already but not currently on my HD and might want to revisit them. Still need to do a nightmare run of the main game and wanted to play with the directors commentary this time but just like everyone else I've got no room. past time to upgrade from this 120GB.

That's a good point, I redeemed a code as well. Probably has something to do with it. But I'm fairly sure that at some point in the past couple of years I was browsing the add-ons for the game and the link for the GOD was the "Already purchased" notice that you'd usually see.

Looks like an easy 1000 according to X360A (3/10 difficulty). However it does have DLC and the DLC achievements are apparently harder than the base 1000.

Easy 1000g but the freaking dlc adds extra cheeves. Had the game completed then it updated, no longer completed....FFFUUUUUU!

One DLC is story based, got that one completed. The other is time trials or some shit that I dont care about. Plus I dont think it ever went on sale, trials of St Lucia I think.

I bought it from the marketplace when it was $5.00 last summer. In the game details page it would queue me up to buy it again, but redownloading it from the history section worked fine.

I wonder if we start a petition for Microsoft to remove the restrictions on external HDDs seeing as how they stopped releasing larger HDDs, their sole excuse for the restrictions on external storage in the first place.

Strange, I bought it from that sale as well. Now when I go to xbox.com it doesn't show as already purchased like my other GOD titles.

So it's definitely not to do with whether you redeemed a code or bought it straight up. Alan Wake is the only game that anyone has noticed this with though, right? It's probably some glitch that's specific to AW and might not ever apply to other GODs, but in the interest of better safe than sorry I'd still be careful about deleting GODs from now on.

I know this stance may be controversial. But the way I see it, if Microsoft (or any other service that I hold "digital ownership" on) EVER removes my access to those purchases, then I'll pirate the shit out of any and all future video game endeavors. I seriously hope it would never come to that because a game provider SHOULD have the self-awareness and appreciation for its customers to never put them in that situation. But them doing that would be drawing first blood, in my opinion. And after that, all bets are off. If they were ever dumb enough to set fire to their own empire, I would have no problem throwing gasoline on it.

I would say Microsoft would never be dumb enough to do that...but considering the mass string of console bans they handed out without warning right before launching their new console, I'm not sure I'd put anything past MS at this point.

Happens to me, but it's correct looking through the download history. I tried and it works.

I hear they are running out of toilet paper in redmond so I am sure they will welcome your idea.

Just adding to the Alan Wake talk: I bought a game code from Amazon and had difficulty redownloading it. At the time, there was not an issue with it trying to charge me again, I couldn't even find the game on the marketplace. I'll have to go back and look at my history, but I seem to recall it being an issue with region. For some reason there was no US version and I ended up redeeming a GB/CAN version or something silly.
