This thread will maintain a list of all current and upcoming sales and markdowns on the Xbox Live Marketplace / Xbox Games Store for the USA.  YMMV in other regions.  If non-US sales are listed, they will be marked with their applicable region(s).

Please note:

  • You cannot currently buy any Xbox 360 content on xbox.com using your account balance, you can only use an active credit card or PayPal. To use your balance, you must make purchases on your console.  Unfortunately, even "purchasing" free content through the web site like trials requires an alternative method of payment tied to your account, though adding an empty MasterCard / Visa gift card that is registered for online purchases will work.  Xbox One games can be purchased on the web site with your account balance, but DLC cannot.
  • Some sales are intended for Gold subscribers only, as noted within each section.  This requires being a paid subscriber or within a console-activated "1 month complimentary Gold trial" account.  Neither 48 hour trials, 14 day trials nor free weekends qualify.
  • All known sales and information on sales should make their way into the OP. Major Nelson usually updates his blog with new sales information every other Tuesday.
  • ALL OFFERS ARE SUBJECT TO CHANGE! No information within this thread can or should be construed as accurate (or still valid), therefore ...
  • Always verify Xbox Live Marketplace prices before your purchase!
  • Spend wisely, have fun, and enjoy!

Curious, Assassin's Creed Revelations I am unable to find for less than $10 physical copy. Are a lot people still playing this? I was hoping to complete my physical disc copy collection of Assassin's Creed.

While not on sale, anyone going to look at Takedown Red Saber? Seems awesome for an Arcade title
look at the steam forums for the game. it was just on sale for $1.50. it's not well liked

Thanks for the advice on Ridge Racer Unbounded. Even though I'm not big on track-building and prefer just the standard single player or multiplayer experience with racers I decided to give in and buy it.

Please tell me you're joking. I'm assuming since its release on PC that they haven't fixed the seemingly thousands of prevalent issues with this game, though I could be wrong about that. From what I've heard the PC version was considered absolute garbage with the word travesty thrown around a fair bit. It's been used as an example of where Kickstarters can go wrong when it comes to crowdfunding an unfinished game, mostly because it's been overwhelmingly agreed upon by most reviewers and players that the game was released in an unfinished state.

I'm curious if they have improved the console version or if it's just a straight port, my guess is the latter, though I'm sure it will come with all the patches and other things they've released over Steam the past few months that I've read haven't improved the game. Either way do be incredibly wary of buying this before you try out the demo or read a few reviews. It's a tactical shooter with no squad comands, no ability to play stealthily with one-shot realistic kills, a broken cover system, a HUD that lacks any indicator of objectives and horrid botched AI. There's also no single-player storyline, just missions you can tackle in any order, and considering better multiplayer games can be found elsewhere you can be assured that it'll be a barren desert trying to find others to play with. So I would recommend a huge skip on this one. A friend of mine who did fund the game through Kickstarter thought the end result was, and I quote, 'worse than Amy' - if such a thing is even possible. It should be noted too that the game failed to pass its original Microsoft Certification back in September, hence the 5 month waiting time for its release. The needle on my red flag sensor just snapped off . . .

I played a couple rounds of Warface earlier today. I gotta say it's solid, and it's cool how reaching certain areas requires teamwork, though I can already imagine potential abuses of this when you're the only one left in the team and your enemy is hiding in an unreachable spot. Good graphics and stable stuff overall, though the actual "calculation" of how the shooting happens seems to be dodgy for now, definitely not as polished as COD, BF or Halo in that aspect. Looking forward to the full version though, it might be a fun alternative to the usual FPS games, though it does need some polish to truly shine.

Tomorrow it's Ghosts for sure, the picture is definitely from Ghosts. Given how the other previews only showed one game out of a "random" selection and not the whole theme, expect Ghosts for 35-40$ tomorrow along with other random stuff.

Good lord.. Is Ghosts a bad game or something? I swear it's always going on sale at stores and now we're getting another digital sale for it? I've been waiting for all the damn DLC for BlOps2 to go on sale forever now. There is no way in hell I'm paying more for DLC than I did for the actual game.

BLOPS1 for $5 or even $10 would probably be an instant purchase for me, even though I own it on PS3. I would probably do the same for BLOPS2, even though I enjoyed it considerably less.

People are finally burnt out after Black Ops 2. It did not reach predicted sales numbers, and Activision is doing the best they can to squeeze out more money from it, especially since they're spending money making DLCs for it nobody's buying.

Activision is of course in-denial, so they're ramping it up further. They're switching to a 3-year development cycle now, with three studios involved instead of two (Sledgehammer is getting its own CoD series to do).

http://www.polygon.com/2014/2/6/5387530/call-of-duty-moving-to-3-year-3-studio-dev-cycle-sledgehammer-on-2014

Also, you guys realize that it's not a CoD sale tomorrow, right? Ghosts is just the featured game. None of these sale days have had ANY consistency. Don't write it off yet.

I'm still waiting on that beta invite.

It's not really bad, but the series is suffering from a lot of fatigue at this point. Also, Black Ops 2 added a lot of great things, balanced stuff out, screwed over campers, added an incredible support for pro-gaming with League mode, replays, CODcasting, etc.... while Ghosts took pretty much all of that out, and made something that is somewhat similar to MW2 with large maps and a bit less focus on crazy streaks like in MW3, but it's an overall fairly uninspired and most importantly unbalanced package. The new zombie-alternative isn't as good as Zombies either, and the campaign was back to the 100% linear stuff, unlike Black Ops 2. It's like they didn't even consider Black Ops 2's existence, they only took out some futuristic elements and a class system similar to the Pick-10 from BO2, but it's got many of the downsides of MW3, and almost none of the improvements added to the series by BO2. This disappointment is also shown on the sales, which are still stellar but significantly lower than BO2. Personally I still play more Black Ops 2 than Ghosts.

We had BO2 for X360 and PS3 for 10 Euros at a gaming con here in November. Great times, a lot of people bought multiple copies because you could get the latest COD for lower than most years-old games (Ghosts wasn't out yet). I don't expect an "official" sale like that, however, COD games never really go on crazy sales. I do hope they put it around 10-20$ though, I bet a lot of new players would arrive.

So there would be more noobs to slay. Hehuehuehuehue

Why am I so tempted by Sonic Generations?
Because it's awesome, and this coming from a really casual Sonic fan. It's like a best of from everything Sonic, dropping everything that was bad (no crap like werehogs or Sonic 06 and whatnot), and it's got tons of content too. Lovely game.

Can't speak to xbox 360, but on PC, takedown is horrrrrrrrrrrrrible. Brain dead AI, empty multi-player, etc.

So, back to Condemned, can someone tell me how it aged? I remember playing the demo for it on PC when it came out. I enjoyed it, reminded me of a smarter version of F.E.A.R. (which was also good). But this was like in 2006 or something, and it's an FPS. How did it age? How's the achievements, save system, controls, etc.?
I played Condemned this past halloween and thought it held up surprisingly well. The graphics are obviously very aged but I thought the combat was refreshing. It also didn't do too much hand-holding so it seemed refreshing in its pace. If anything just try out the demo but I definitely give it a recommendation, even now.

It's still one of my favorite games of the past generation. The graphics aren't all that impressive by today's standards, but as a launch game it still looks pretty well for its age. The crime-scene investagations aren't very difficult but serve to add a bit of variety to the gameplay now and then. The game's greatest strength is without question its atmosphere. I wouldn't say it's scary, more that it's filled with a lot of tension. As far as the achievements, they're not too difficult if you don't mind doing scavenger hunts. Oh, and it's the only game to feature a 970 gamerscore.

I'd also recommend the sequel and while the story does go off the tracks a bit it's a better playing game overall.

Might check out Cave at that price.

Check out the trial first. I thought it was a good price last time and ALMOST bought it until I played the trial. The humour is quirky and it's there but the actual platforming is floaty and can lead to frustrating moments trying to solve simple puzzles.
I enjoyed The Cave. It's written by Ron Gilbert, the same guy that did the Monkey Island series and Maniac Mansion, so if you like the writing in those games, you'll like The Cave. It's the same type of adventure game, but you move the characters instead of it being point and click. You control 3 different characters at a time and each has their own puzzle to work through using their unique powers. Plus, there are several set puzzles that you have to solve regardless of which characters you are using. I think there are 7 or 8 characters total. It's a fairly short game and the replay value is pretty high since, if you're like me, you'll want to control each of the characters to see the their unique puzzles. The puzzles themselves are fair for the most part, but there were a couple of times I got stuck for a bit on an obscure solution. All in all I had a good time with it and would recommend it at that price.

HAHAHAHA. Never made that connection but you're absolutely right. Don't remind me. It's just so ridiculous because the rest of the game is so easy. By the way, there's more vehicle mini-games after that one. I'm sure you're thrilled.
Yeah I found them, they're what made me decide to not go for the 200/200. I just have too many other games to get through on XBLA to spend time playing something that is aggravating me.

Had a feeling you'd say that once you found them which is why I gave you the heads-up, they're terrible. Completely understandable. The game being a Trials alpha is still pretty funny though.

Why am I so tempted by Sonic Generations?
It really is quite amazing. It's the first Sonic game in years I think is actually a fantastic game (and not just "good for a Sonic game"). It controls wonderfully, level variety is top notch, story bits are mercifully short, and it looks great (provided you don't slow down ((why would you?)) ). I paid $10 for it during a prior XBL sale, and even having only played up to the first boss I feel I've gotten my money's worth. Just a lot of fun that is worth trying even if you're not a Sonic fan anymore (or never were).

Actually, I think there's a demo; try that then buy the full game!

CoD Ghosts will probably be on sale for $39.99, 33% discount I bet.

I want Castle Crashers to be on sale. I played that at a buddies house but still haven't picked it up on my own system to play through the whole thing.

Really fun singleplayer. I haven't tried online because it is probably dead. The controls will feel bad at first and you'll probably be terrible at the game if you haven't played a TW game in a few years. Play it for about 20 minutes and you'll start feeling more comfortable with the controls. After an hour or so, it'll start feeling more natural again.
As a casual player of the older games I enjoyed it, especially as I got my character leveled up and things controlled smoother. I think most of the more dedicated players of the older versions really didn't care for the HD remake.
Thanks for the responses guys! I liked Pro Skater 2 so I'll prob end up gettin it

So tomorrow is a Call of Duty Ghosts Sale? At least I know I can ignore THAT game...wonder what else will be in the Mix up hum
You can't just ignore Ghosts. It's (quoting the countdown to 2014 sale) a big one! So that means probably an incredible 10% off, 15% if they're generous. I'm surprised they didn't keep it until the last day as the only deal again.

So far I only bit on Runner 2, Soul Calibur 2 HD, Dirt 3 and Driver. I'm pretty sure the games I want won't be on sale or have a good deal anytime soon. Looking at you Toejam & Earl. And Deathsmiles.

So moving on to Assault Heroes 2 now, is it true it's not as good as the first?
Yeah, I liked Assault Heroes one a whole lot better. To be honest, I probably spent about 45 minutes with Assault Heroes 2 and deleted it from the backlog. I wouldnt be surprised if you do the same.

Listen to this. I spent even less time and knew I wouldn't enjoy it.

Ill take ghosts or even BLOPS2 for 10 bucks lol

Id love to get BLOPS1 for 5...
Not to rub it in but BLOPS1 was $2.95 on the Aussie marketplace 18 months back or so. Grabbed that deal back then and then Max Payne 3 was $5 a few days later. Sadly we haven't seen Aussie region only sales or glitches like that here for a bit. But it's nice to reminisce.

Dude. You live in Australia. Break your controller and go outside. If I had the opportunity to sit on a beach and watch hot chicks surf all day, I wouldn't know what a video game was...

Have you seen that documentary on Australia? The one where it's a desolate wasteland and the only currency is oil and nearly everyone wears leather? Unless he's got a metal boomerang or a sweet ass car that can outrun the marauders, he's better off at home.

That took me a second, then I LOL'ed. :)

I agree with the other people in that I enjoyed the first one better. My cousin and I did co-op and got 200 GS but we quickly quit playing AH2. The single player achievements were challenging enough for me to quit lol.

I was interested in State of Decay but it always turns me off a game when the dev is so open about which gameplay elements they wish they could have implemented but will definitely include in the sequel. It's like why should I pay for this obviously inferior product when my cheapass knows a much better improved one is already being developed? It's psychological.

We all know developers want their games to be successful enough to make a sequel and turn it into a franchise. But usually that consists of them waiting to see how well the original sold. Obviously a sequel will improve upon the original but don't tell me what's broken with it now because my brain will clutch onto that idea. It's backwards in this case where I prefer to be blind than have full transparency.

The only main thing that didn't make it into this game was co-op. State of Decay was always the first step before making the state of decay mmo on PC. The devs also recently announced they signed a multi-year, multi-title extension with Microsoft so it'll be interesting to see whats coming next.

It was also a rare experience for me because I was following their dev blogs when they were nobodies and before they even signed a deal with microsoft so its been a cool journey. You should check out this article from 2011...might clear up some things for you: https://undeadlabs.com/2011/02/news/rude-qa-2/

For those of you that have state of decay, they also announced the next dlc will be adding a new map:

I got this game Day 1 and I just can't support these Devs at all. The game was/is a buggy mess and the lack of multiplayer (after being lead on for quite some time that a multiplayer update was in the works) has caused me to sour upon them.

"We want to put multiplayer in this game"

3 months later.....

"We are not putting multiplayer in this game, it will take to long. Instead you get a new map DLC, which will cost you $7"

I just can't support that rubbish and I for one will not be purchasing any of their future games or their DLC.

Since if you buy $45 worth off games on Xbox One, you get a $15 Gift Code back. What 3 games should I buy?
Crimson dragon
Halo spartan assault
Lococycle
Max the curse of brotherhood
Peggle 2
Powerstar golf 2
Strider

I'm probably getting Max for sure, just can figure out what other two I want since there are no demos.

Peggle 2 has gotten nothing but stellar reviews. Strider looks really nice next gen, so those two seem like great choices.

I would personally go with Halo: Spartan Assault, Peggle 2 and Strider. Crimson Dragon would be a good choice too if you liked the Panzer Dragoon games (even though the reviews are pretty meh about the game).
