This thread will maintain a list of all current and upcoming sales and markdowns on the Xbox Live Marketplace / Xbox Games Store for the USA.  YMMV in other regions.  If non-US sales are listed, they will be marked with their applicable region(s).

Please note:

  • You cannot currently buy any Xbox 360 content on xbox.com using your account balance, you can only use an active credit card or PayPal. To use your balance, you must make purchases on your console.  Unfortunately, even "purchasing" free content through the web site like trials requires an alternative method of payment tied to your account, though adding an empty MasterCard / Visa gift card that is registered for online purchases will work.  Xbox One games can be purchased on the web site with your account balance, but DLC cannot.
  • Some sales are intended for Gold subscribers only, as noted within each section.  This requires being a paid subscriber or within a console-activated "1 month complimentary Gold trial" account.  Neither 48 hour trials, 14 day trials nor free weekends qualify.
  • All known sales and information on sales should make their way into the OP. Major Nelson usually updates his blog with new sales information every other Tuesday.
  • ALL OFFERS ARE SUBJECT TO CHANGE! No information within this thread can or should be construed as accurate (or still valid), therefore ...
  • Always verify Xbox Live Marketplace prices before your purchase!
  • Spend wisely, have fun, and enjoy!

That Diablo discount is terrible.

MGR is a great game.

Everyone who has ever wanted Dark Souls has already bought it. Same probably goes for RDR and the Orange Box.

Nights is complete shit.

I can play Yahoo Pool if I was so inclined.

Really hoping the last day brings some good stuff.

Another day, another waste of time for me. No buys for me.

Checking out tomorrow night's deals and if they suck, getting RR Unbounded. Space is at a premium otherwise I'd buy it now. But I may regret it if there's better offerings on the final day.

What does playing 25 hours of pool have to do with anything?

I mean, some of the achievements aren't easy but overall it's a great game for 99 cents
For me, it has to do with everything. When it comes to deciding whether or not I should buy a game just because it's cheap that I don't really have a big interest in I look at the achievements. I don't mind hard achievements, but grindy or just plain time consuming achievements will easily make me pass on a game that I could care less if I had or not. That's my little system I have that keeps myself from buying an infinite backlog. Oh, and the 25 hours came from the estimated time it takes to 100% the game, according to xboxachievements.com ;)

Damn you, Dark Souls! Why must you tempt me so?!

I passed on it the last time it was offered for five dollars, because the previous game was a hugely frustrating time sink. I finished maybe half of it before it finally broke me. Don't really want to go through that again!

I did get NiGHTS (hey man, I had this on the friggin' Saturn!) and that pool game, although I had another pool game that was released early in the Xbox 360's life. I don't really need to have another one, but what the hey, ninety nine cents is a pretty good deal.

man, what a price on Pool Nation!  I picked it up on PS3 a while back for $2.25 and I'm probably gonna get it here too just to have it on my 360.  An absolute STEAL at $1.

You care way too much about achievements

I skipped it when it was $2.25 on PS+, but I almost caved in and bought it. I just don't have a lot of PS credit to be wasting on things that I probably won't play. For $1 on Xbox, where I do have a bit of credit, I may just have to bite, given all the praise it gets.

if you really care about getting through your backlog then achievements should take a backseat  ;)!

Meanwhile I can't stop playing Bejeweled...worst dollar investment of my life

I have given up Completing games, I just want to beat the main story and move on because I have too much to play before I will upgrade to an Xbox One.

no, if that's part of the enjoyment of gaming, then good for him. Sometimes getting through a terrible game just to accomplish that 1000/platinum serves as its own reward. Best example I can think of is MIB: Alien Crisis. That game sucked so hard that I needed to get the platinum just to feel like I defeated it. It had to die. They're all games, just play what you want how you want. Just don't play MIB because it seriously is the worst.

Ehh, I didn't mean to bash anyone for achievements, again, I love them myself, but I'm just against the whole completion ration thing.

Pool Nation is 99 cents and it's a great game, I don't think achievements should play a role in passing on it though

Edit: That's what I'm saying, I do the same thing, but to pass on a very good game for 99 cents because you can't 100% it I guess just seems wrong

I really doubt I've put anywhere near 25 hours into the game and I've gotten several achievements from it

Seeing The Orange Box for $5 prompted me to run to Best Buy and trade it in for $10. That's a great price for a great set of games. Though I'd much rather play TF2 on a PC. The Half Life series and Portal are all worth much more than $5. Grab it If you somehow haven't.

Any major differences in dark souls on ps3 vs 360? I have a disc copy for ps3 in my backlog but I may be more likely to play the game if it is on my HDD. Of course spending $5 on a game I already own may indicate a pathological problem...

honestly this sale is kind of disappointing, anything I'm interested in has already been on sale, most of it within the last year even, and the prices are the same....

Still debating about Fallout 3, have new vegas on the backlog. I Have issues with all FPS besides goldeneye 007, mostly it's the first person perspective but if a game its good enough i can get around it. Soooo i still don't know if i should get it.

I'm more of a "if I can get at least one achievement, I'm happy" kind of guy, but I can understand some people really wanting 100%. I picked up Pool Nation for 99 cents assuming at least 1 achievement would be easy.

You don't value the time from your personal life over meaningless achievement points?

I honestly will never understand the concept of playing through games that aren't enjoyable just to get virtual cred. Who exactly are you trying to impress and for what purpose?

No they are pretty identical. The PS3 does suffer more framerate issues than the 360 version especially with destructible elements and particle effects (lighting a bonfire, exploding a fire bomb, etc) while the 360 has some more trouble than the PS3 in handling volumetric effects (such as the fog barriers in between doors). But these are small niggly issues and they both pretty much play identically. As the game does have an unorthodox control layout I'd just say that you should play it on the system with the controller you feel more comfortable with.

Just buy the GOTY Fallout 3 used at GS. $12.99 before PUR and a b-day coupon and u get all the dlc. Amazing game.

In for the pool game, can't say no to $1 games.

Problem is, the nearest GS is 3 hours away. But even so, the backlog can help me wait till i get the chance to go. Thanks.

You'll let us know when you find that point? JK. Honestly, I don't even know if 150K is a lot, but I'm going to assume it is.
It is to more casual players... or the Duty players, lol.

I'm at 167k myself and I hear people always saying "Damn that's awesome", or "He's a loser". I should also note I've had my Xbox account for 7+ years and just like to finish games. Get my money's worth.

By way of comparison, I have almost 13000 achievement points. Larry Hyrb, the Xbox spokesman more popularly known as "Major Nelson," has about 65000. So yeah, I'd say that was a pretty good score.

Just looked at the preview photos and they do look amazing, but like I said 1.12 GB!! I have no room, and I still have to download Cold War by the end of the month.
Why can't you just buy Cold War and then delete it off your HD? It'll be in your purchase history forever.. this isn't PS+, you keep the games in your purchase history regardless. No, that's NOT a knock against PS+, just a fact, please don't start.

Nights is complete shit.

I can play Yahoo Pool if I was so inclined.

Really hoping the last day brings some good stuff.
Nights is not "complete shit", it's not my favourite Saturn game by any measure, but "complete shit" is over the line. And comparing Pool Nation to Yahoo Pool? Really? Pretty sure the general consensus is that it's one of the best pool games ever. I've played Yahoo Pool, by the way, it's fun but you have no idea what you're talking about if you think the experiences are comparable.

Gentleman, Lady. Can't we all put aside our differences on pool and sega games and come together and agree that I look damned amazing in this hat?

Someone wanna sell me on Payday 2?
Only buy it if you have freinds to play it with. The AI is horrendous and basically makes most of the stealth possiblities impossible. Also I would recommend the PC version over the 360 version if possible, solely because of better update support and content.

Okay, since there are still people debating whether to get Dark Souls, it's time I have my say.

Don't believe anyone who tells you that you shouldn't play it if you get angry at videogames. Back when I knew nothing about this game and saw this statement in people's reviews, it gave me pause. I'm a person who frequently gets pissed off at the games I'm playing. But here's the thing- more than anything else, it's bad game design that pisses me off. Dark Souls is extraordinarily well designed, so while I'm tested, I'm not mad. I'm motivated to keep going. "Hard but fair" is apt. There are the occasional niggling issues, but nothing major that would make me stop playing.

As I've only put an hour at most into Demon's Souls, I can't say whether one is effectively harder than the other. But the impression I got is that the framework for Dark Souls is much more generous. While there may be better/safer ways to go about it, there is no one correct path. All the areas are interconnected in clever ways, and as you travel deeper into the unknown you'll open shortcuts to where you've already been. Similarly there's a lot of variety in playstyle and builds. Good equipment can always be substituted for skill. If you want to run around with a parrying dagger instead of a shield, more power to you. If you want to go into the Catacombs at the beginning of the game, shine on you crazy diamond. There are insane people who go through the whole game without leveling up. It's never impossible.

So much creativity went into this game. I try to avoid overuse of a word like "awesome", but there are some locations that really do inspire awe.

Even if it doesn't seem like your thing, give it a chance. There's nothing quite like it.

Thanks for the advice on Ridge Racer Unbounded. Even though I'm not big on track-building and prefer just the standard single player or multiplayer experience with racers I decided to give in and buy it.

Please tell me you're joking. I'm assuming since its release on PC that they haven't fixed the seemingly thousands of prevalent issues with this game, though I could be wrong about that. From what I've heard the PC version was considered absolute garbage with the word travesty thrown around a fair bit. It's been used as an example of where Kickstarters can go wrong when it comes to crowdfunding an unfinished game, mostly because it's been overwhelmingly agreed upon by most reviewers and players that the game was released in an unfinished state.

I'm curious if they have improved the console version or if it's just a straight port, my guess is the latter, though I'm sure it will come with all the patches and other things they've released over Steam the past few months that I've read haven't improved the game. Either way do be incredibly wary of buying this before you try out the demo or read a few reviews. It's a tactical shooter with no squad comands, no ability to play stealthily with one-shot realistic kills, a broken cover system, a HUD that lacks any indicator of objectives and horrid botched AI. There's also no single-player storyline, just missions you can tackle in any order, and considering better multiplayer games can be found elsewhere you can be assured that it'll be a barren desert trying to find others to play with. So I would recommend a huge skip on this one. A friend of mine who did fund the game through Kickstarter thought the end result was, and I quote, 'worse than Amy' - if such a thing is even possible. It should be noted too that the game failed to pass its original Microsoft Certification back in September, hence the 5 month waiting time for its release. The needle on my red flag sensor just snapped off . . .
According to Joystiq, regarding certification "That was fixed, but Serellan chose to hold the XBLA game back to add in post-launch improvements made to the PC version. The newly released XBLA version also features the free DLC that was added post-launch"

Reading the steam comments, they have patched many of the bugs. People seem to be complaining more about the difficulty because it is more of a simulation than a game.

I was having high hopes because I am fan of the "Full Spectrum Warrior" -- I loved the fact that you needed to use real tactics.

It could suck, I have no idea at the moment. The concept is what I liked. I will wait to see some other reviews

Why can't you just buy Cold War and then delete it off your HD? It'll be in your purchase history forever.. this isn't PS+, you keep the games in your purchase history regardless. No, that's NOT a knock against PS+, just a fact, please don't start.

I do delete the games afterwards, but I currently only have around 500 MB because of the downloads I made thanks to this sale (Sou Caliber and Dante's Inferno).
