This thread will maintain a list of all current and upcoming sales and markdowns on the Xbox Live Marketplace / Xbox Games Store for the USA.  YMMV in other regions.  If non-US sales are listed, they will be marked with their applicable region(s).

Please note:

  • You cannot currently buy any Xbox 360 content on xbox.com using your account balance, you can only use an active credit card or PayPal. To use your balance, you must make purchases on your console.  Unfortunately, even "purchasing" free content through the web site like trials requires an alternative method of payment tied to your account, though adding an empty MasterCard / Visa gift card that is registered for online purchases will work.  Xbox One games can be purchased on the web site with your account balance, but DLC cannot.
  • Some sales are intended for Gold subscribers only, as noted within each section.  This requires being a paid subscriber or within a console-activated "1 month complimentary Gold trial" account.  Neither 48 hour trials, 14 day trials nor free weekends qualify.
  • All known sales and information on sales should make their way into the OP. Major Nelson usually updates his blog with new sales information every other Tuesday.
  • ALL OFFERS ARE SUBJECT TO CHANGE! No information within this thread can or should be construed as accurate (or still valid), therefore ...
  • Always verify Xbox Live Marketplace prices before your purchase!
  • Spend wisely, have fun, and enjoy!

Someone wanna sell me on Payday 2?
I played PayDay 2 for about 50 hrs - it can be extremely fun when you're playing with others w/ headsets (random or friends). I played for awhile before running into people online randomly that had headsets and we'd just kill hours playing at a time - it was a fun way to meet people, honestly (I'm not much of an online person). However, there's only so many maps - there are some randomized elements to them, but they're still basically the same.

The other thing is, a lot of it - to me, anyway - was trial and error in figuring things out (using boards for windows, using a saw to open ATM machines, etc) and you have to grind the same levels repeatedly when you start out to earn enough money for more skills, guns, and armor. If you play with a higher-level person, even though it limits your experience, you can gain levels fairly quick and have wider variety of maps to choose from. I was level 67 when my brother started; within 1-2 hours, he was level 8 or 9.

I don't think it's been this low before (~$11) - I paid $20 for a disc copy when BBY had a coupon, and I think Target or Gamestop had it for $15 or $20 in Nov/Dec.

So I'm reading about Real Steel, and it sounds like it has "secret DLC" that you have to buy in-game if you want to do any kind of customizing with your robots.  One person even mentioned something about 2-player mode required buying DLC, but I don't believe that one for a second.

I barely want the game at $2; is it true that there's in-game crap that's locked unless I either pay $10+ or spend half of my waking hours grinding through the story mode to unlock?  Or did they do away with all of that nonsense through one of the many updates they've given the game throughout the years (I KNEW I remembered right having to furiously spin the stick to get up and said "nooooooo thank you MarioParty-analog-killer!" the first time I played the demo, but years later only had to annoyingly button-mash...)

Still debating about Fallout 3, have new vegas on the backlog. I Have issues with all FPS besides goldeneye 007, mostly it's the first person perspective but if a game its good enough i can get around it. Soooo i still don't know if i should get it.
You don't have to play either modern Fallout like a traditional FPS. They have the VATS targeting system that pauses combat and takes shots for you. Melee builds are viable too, though more so in New Vegas than 3. Also, I normally hate Iron Sights in shooters but it feels right in Fallout, 3 doesn't have them so actually trying to play it as a shooter kind of sucks. The rectile is too small or something.

Anyways, I don't want to start the NV vs F3 debate again. If you think you will play it eventually, you're probably better off finding a physical copy of the GOTY edition so you get all the DLC. It's cheap and you can share the DLC disc.

Download the trial and check it out, but as far as I remember, there were some in-game DLC for things like robots, robot skins, etc.

Herein lies the problem: the trial version doesn't mention any of the DLC since everything is naturally locked for trial. then you buy the game and find out there's in-game purchases suddenly needed to do what you pretty much bought the game for. It's even worse because I've never seen an XBLA game that doesn't show its DLC in the game details section of the dashboard/xbox.com page.

Being a fan of burnout and splitsecond, I tried the demo of Ridge Racer Unbounded. After a few tries, I apparently couldn't get the hang of it, as I kept finishing 10th or 12th out of 12. Is the demo's difficulty representative off the full game?
I've seen about 5 people say this and honestly the same thing happened to me. You guys shouldn't let it dissuade you from the game though. My first three races on the same track were 10th/12th, 12th/12th and a 9th place where I was 4 on the final straightaway. The last race kinda got me encouraged so I went again and got 1st. Then on the first try for the 2nd demo track I got 1st again.

The game all comes down to drifting correctly. If you drift through every corner and don't oversteer, and hence wipeout, you'll have full meter for most of the race. I'm just saying don't let the difficulty be a huge factor. I'm still not sure if I'll get the game though. If it just comes down to drifting correctly and hitting all the preset shortcut moments I'm not sure the game would be fun for long.

Luckily with Fallout 3 and New Vegas, there's a 3rd person view option. I believe it's either left bumper, or one of the thumbsticks you click to enable it. Also, when you start the game, you should probably change the HUD color to something more noticeable because otherwise that reticle is impossible to see. You can also spam VATS if you want, but it's always a major pain to freeaim unless you've got a sniper.

Yup the game has a bunch of DLC. For Example... You have to pay extra to paint your custom robot,To play as the other robots from the movie (I believe all you get is 2 robots from just buying the full game), and body parts for your custom robot are also dlc.

I payed like $5 and I regret it just because it never warned me that to do anything cool you have to pay extra.

I had trouble with the first race as well - after trying a few times and not getting past 9th, I moved to the second track, earned more points, unlocked a better car, and replayed the first. Drifting takes some getting used to, as I tend to oversteer and get turned around. If only there was a rewind option :)

Stop putting Ghosts on that fake sale, MS. Everyone who has "battered wife syndrome" with COD already has it, and everyone else either doesn't want it or is waiting for it to drop to $5. Put the Season Pass or DLC on sale. That'll bring in some money for a dead franchise.

Diablo 3 should be way cheaper, like everyone says. I might bite on NiGHTS, but not too sure. RDR and DS I have, and I'm not interested in Pool.

Ah Activision doesn't like to do many sales.

Yeah I think I'll look into that Pool Nation game, there's really no other competition other than Bankshot Billiards 2 on the XBLA front, yet at a buck I'll prob get it because I love virtual pool --played Bankshot Billiards 2 for daaaayyss. I grabbed Sonic Generations & The Cave after playing their trials and liking what I saw.

Glad to see some new B3 addicts in here haha, Popcap has that formula in all their games and here's hoping PvZ:GW continues it--although I'm weary of it atm.

166 Arcade titles on my hard drive and 20 GoD games. I Have to say the 360 is one of the few consoles where I can say I have nearly all the titles I want.

Okay, since there are still people debating whether to get Dark Souls, it's time I have my say.

Don't believe anyone who tells you that you shouldn't play it if you get angry at videogames. Back when I knew nothing about this game and saw this statement in people's reviews, it gave me pause. I'm a person who frequently gets pissed off at the games I'm playing. But here's the thing- more than anything else, it's bad game design that pisses me off. Dark Souls is extraordinarily well designed, so while I'm tested, I'm not mad. I'm motivated to keep going. "Hard but fair" is apt. There are the occasional niggling issues, but nothing major that would make me stop playing.

As I've only put an hour at most into Demon's Souls, I can't say whether one is effectively harder than the other. But the impression I got is that the framework for Dark Souls is much more generous. While there may be better/safer ways to go about it, there is no one correct path. All the areas are interconnected in clever ways, and as you travel deeper into the unknown you'll open shortcuts to where you've already been. Similarly there's a lot of variety in playstyle and builds. Good equipment can always be substituted for skill. If you want to run around with a parrying dagger instead of a shield, more power to you. If you want to go into the Catacombs at the beginning of the game, shine on you crazy diamond. There are insane people who go through the whole game without leveling up. It's never impossible.

So much creativity went into this game. I try to avoid overuse of a word like "awesome", but there are some locations that really do inspire awe.

Even if it doesn't seem like your thing, give it a chance. There's nothing quite like it.
Can't be said better!

166 Arcade titles on my hard drive and 20 GoD games. I Have to say the 360 is one of the few consoles where I can say I have nearly all the titles I want.
Yeah from XBLA i need only Far Cry Classic and Strider, which won't take long until we see on sale. 246 arcades here and 13 GoD's on my main hdd.

See, the reason I avoided Dark Souls in the last sale is because of how humiliating its predecessor, Demon's Souls, was. There was a lot I did like about the game- its combat is oodles better than Oblivion's- but the game relies a great deal on trial and error, and delights in springing nasty traps on you at every opportunity. I'm not sure I want a second slice of that.

What I'll probably do is wait to see what the last day of this sale has to offer. I'm hoping against hope that Double Dragon Neon is offered... if it is, I'll likely get that and cash out. If I can't find anything to my taste, then maybe Dark Souls, but only if I've got no other options.

Which begs the question why anyone would trade it in for a mere $100 or so.

Edit: Oh god I just tallied up and I'm close to that for XBLA titles too haha.

Wanted to get Payday 2 but passed.

By the time the 4.2GB update gets released the physical copy of the game will probably be like $8.

Fun game that still has a lot of people playing online but after doing the same missions over and over to level 75 it get's pretty stale.

All this talk about Real Steel's "hidden" DLCs made me ultimately decide not to get the game, as such, my only purchase for this day is NiGHTS. At this point I've got Hell Yeah!, Runner 2, Bejeweled 3, Mortal Kombat, and NiGHTS from the dailies, plus DiRT 3 and Driver San Francisco from the weeklies. Still have a couple spacebucks left so tomorrow I might continue, but if there's nothing amazing I might bite on Rock Band Blitz (and if anyone wants to sell me on that or make me not buy it, feel free to). With the fact I also grabbed the latest Pinball FX2 table, and with my retail collection likely increasing by 2 units next week between DoDonpachi Saidaioujou and Plants VS Zombies Garden Warfare... yeah, backlog building big time again, but at least I already completed 10 or so games this year, and going well with multiple others too.

This week I only got Runner2 (nice deal), and the first episode of TWDS2, though I know it will be free in the future. I'm either not interested or already own the other games on sale. Also, I'm very picky with the GoD games since I'm beginning to have space problems on my second 320gb HDD and I don't want to buy more HDD's for the console.

Give them nothing, but take from them ... EVERYTHING.

When a game is released, like all others, it's inspected. If it were lacking, difficult achievements, expensive, or misshapen, it would have been discarded. Never leave free HDD space, never to pay too much, that is CAG law. To pay the least is the greatest glory.

So far on this Ultimate Games Sale, there's much glory to be had. I've spent for a lot already, practically everything was bought. I wish they can keep this sale going beyond its scheduled week.

As a warning to others, some of the titles do have GotY/Ultimate editions with all/some of the DLC. DiRT 3 has a complete edition which is really expensive at this time for me. Mass Effect has the Bring Down the Sky DLC included on the Platinum Hits releases. Tomb Raider has a Game of the Year Edition with all the DLC on the 360, or if you have the X1 there's the definitive edition. Super Street Fighter 4 will soon have Ultra Street Fighter 4 which claimed to have over $40USD in DLC (which may just be the upgrades to AC and Ultra, and not all the costumes, but maybe it does mean it will have all the DLC costumes included). Of course Skyrim has the Legendary Edition with the install disc to the DLC just like Bethesda's Fallout GotY editions before it. Red Dead Redemption also has a complete pack which can be had for little as well.

The amount of posts descends upon us, and I just wanted to throw in some quick replies. The coming text wall will blot out the sun. I've only my off days to reply, so responses may be dated.

I thought the HD Collection was disappointing. There was censoring that wasnt present in the original releases and the soundtracks had been replaced.

I don't really like Raging Blast.

While I know Ultimate Tenkaichi was the same sort of style it's been almost five years since i played a Dragon Ball game, but if this is a genuinely bad game then I'll pass.

I'm not in the mood to go play raging Blasy again, espeically since those games are significantly more expensive than this sale
I had thought that it was primarily that the director of music for the videogame (and newer widescreen animation) adaptations of the comic/animation series for years had ... good taste in music. Funny how it doesn't seem to apply to the awesome Streets of Rage/Bare Knuckle music.

HELL YEAH! was probably my favorite title last year. I really enjoyed the hell out of that game (bad pun). Definitely recommended. It's not the SEGA title I was hoping to see on sale though. Where is my heavily discounted Toejam & Earl?
I should've waited a month to pick up SoulCalibur II HD. Sometimes nostalgia just clouds the mind!
Speaking of Streets of Rage/Bare Knuckle which was discounted before on the SVC collections, I remember that I had promised someone on this thread if the XBLA SVC: ToeJam & Earl ever gets discounted, I'd try it once because it was never part of my youth and never was interested in it before. I forgot who liked the games, and I wonder if there's a statute of limitations, because this Ultimate Games Sale may take away all my funds available before I can give the game a chance to capture me.

I've passed on Hell Yeah! Wrath of the Dead Rabbit, many times before, but this time, the discount is especially deep, and convinced me to finally throw it onto the backlog as well. Now how's the chances the DLC sees a discount?

Dammit! I bought Soul Calibur 2 HD Online last December at 50% off and it is still in my backlog. [almost exactly what Ryuukishi and E.Nich said, but I have read their posts ^^] Meh, I am nostalgic because I actually liked it then, and I think I am still capable of enjoying it again.

Have fun driving up hills!
That's pretty much sums up the majority of time I had on the game: attempting to roll up hills. A hint for all, after collecting a couple of mineral deposits or whatever, return to the Normandy so it auto saves, then you can return back to the planet in a nice even starting spot, so that way you can avoid being randomly upended by some thresher maw or something to waste your time. Now I haven't played the sequels, because a GotY edition with all the DLC never came out, so here I am stuck waiting/hoping the DLC to 2 gets discounts. My fault I have with the game, I just think if I want to be evil or renegade as it is called, I have to be "stupid evil" opposed to "cunning/manipulative evil" ... example: oh this person is trying to warn me about this controlling thing affecting his mind, I'll just shoot him cus "renegade biyotch" opposed to what I would have liked "oh you can feel when this thing is near? you get to be the 'hero' shield [takes as hostage bullet sponge]" or running over space monkeys, like all the female ones or such "what Liara? If you cared so much you can like mind porn them or something, and I can film it to earn lifetimes worth in credits for space internet on the citadel" ... that kind of evil. The game is mostly so-so until it ramps up the closer it gets towards the end. At this point in the story, without playing any sequels, how warm or cold am I getting with my assumptions on how it can go?
I think if you are a total dick to the galaxy, all aliens gear up for conflict with this mistrust of humans such that they are prepared for the space squids to come or if I had gone goody goody, I form a league of super friends to convince everyone in some summit to prepare for war. Also, screw you council for not believing me, just look at Saren's squid ship thing, care to tell me who/where/what built that?"
I am curious how my ugly amoral ginger douche engineer Shepard's storyline pans out (I intend to make racist bombshell femshep vanguard next) through the series, but I really want the ME2 DLC cheapened first.

Not enough links.
Did Crono change his username? :p
Darn, had my name been said 2 more times, I can appear back on this thread =P. Baboy is like a long lost twin, since we share very similar opinions (loved ODST most in Halo series, arcade games, etc.) and possess a penchant for lots of typing on this thread; however, I think Baboy had the benefit of playing only the good games, while I rot in this cellar with a mask doomed to only play bad games.

Just as much as I enjoyed Happy Whores Wars and Ass End Handjob of Kul Ascend: Hand of Kul.

You guys. I Am classy.
For that I make the likes rain. (I even avoided linking the Bad Grandpa pageant scene, I am classy)

Indeed. Arkham City GOTY was available here in Italy for 10 Euros short ago, and since it's a game rather heavy on the DLC, that is probably the edition to get. Then again, the GOTY has the DLCs on disk to install, therefore you can borrow or rent the second disc from anyone, and with the base game for 5$ you still get off cheaper than buying the GOTY (which also has a hell of an uglier cover art).
I take advantage of my advanced age when I walk into a Gamestop and ask about the games I saw my great grandkids play, games like 10 out of 10 and that Do Sex game. My local Gamestop understood the latter but not the former =/. I am still classy.

So, regarding Dirt 3. Is it worth it? Keep in mind that I loved Sega Rally Championship on the Saturn, and it would have to be at that level of greatness for me to bite.
Yes dude, Dirt 3 is great, it's pretty much a combination of Dirt 1 and Dirt 2. I also lost hours just "gymkhana-ing" and messing with friends at the power station environment.
I am amused by the cheesy-awesome Equilibirum gun kata, but Gymkata? Sounds lame ^^. Anyway, if you're looking for more gymkhana, I heard DiRT Showdown completely focuses on that aspect. As a bonus, I think every Best Buy is trying to clear them out, so don't pay any more than $15 for the game (what I bought it for). I too was saved by a Sega Rally arcade machine when I was stuck in a former 3rd world country, and I love it for that. However, the XBLA version of Sega Rally Online Arcade feels like the camera is hard parented to the direction the car is facing, so it has this weird look to me like those toys where the background is on a conveyor belt and you just slide your avatar around (in this case a car). However, for rally racing on the 360, Dirt 3 can fill in the few missing parts which Forza doesn't provide for me, at the current discounted price.

D&D Daggerdale isn't worth the HDD space, even if it were free.
The price is low, and Satan's game does attract me to the occult.

Although, I already had my Burnout Revenge, Blur, and Split/Second fill, I even had played enough of Ridge Racer 6, but you guys convinced me to explore getting the DLC for my Ridge Racer Unbounded (Best Buy clearance shelf made me buy before this awesome sale). This sale has kept the games I have unopened stay that way, I got in a few games, and at this point I may as well make my own unboxing videos. I think of all the stuff I've been getting on the Ultimate Game Sale a good thing, more for us to enjoy when we meet on Xbox Live. For now, I'll continue on my annual traditional full price purchase of Strider (so everyone else can have it on discount). Cryptic words of victory ...

Oh, don't worry, I have a past in game reviewing for multiple websites, and while I did not have the "luck" of reviewing unbearably bad games, I did have to force myself to play very, very generic and boring games for hours and hours, stuff that I would have turned off 30 seconds in if I didn't have to write long reviews about them. Even if it's bad, I need to explain all the reasons it's bad, so it wasn't easy. Maybe that's one of the reasons I don't really force myself through games anymore, that and the size of my backlog: nowadays it's hard for me to spend 10-20 hours on a game that is bad, like really bad (hello Bulletwitch), especially if said game requires multiple playthroughs. I'm as big of an achievement whore as the next guy, but there's limits, I don't finish the things that really bore me, and even while working on my huge backlog, nowadays I try to buy things that I ACTUALLY WANT TO PLAY, not stuff that "eh, it's cheap, maybe one day I'll even try it out". And it's hard for me to get disappointed that much when it's a game I am genuinely interested in, there really are few X360 games I actually got into with large interest and turned out to be total turd. I was lucky, perhaps. But I also yet have to start games like Velvet Assassin, Axel & Pixel, Swarm... while I don't expect to ever go back to finish Inferal: Hell's Revenge, Bulletwitch, or even Onechanbara (though boobies). Selecting stuff, if I may. Since I'm never ever going to get through my backlog, may as well concentrate on the good games.

Is the under $5 price on fallout 3 permanent or a sale?

Was thinking of getting the orange box but only interested in the halflife games, and the graphics on the demo look so dated, may pass on it.

Any idea what games go on sale today?

It's a sale that will end in a few hours (fallout 3), so get it now if you want it.

I hope to see a good sale on Torchlight before this daily offers end.

Ok, already own it (fallout3) on disk, and bought all the dlc as it was released, but my dvd drive is on its last legs, so went ahead and bought it. Had $1.11 on my account already so got it even cheaper ;-)

Oh, and Thanks for that info!

I'm so disappointed in myself that I passed on Bejeweled 3. I'm not really a huge fan of the series but from some of the replies and seeing all these deals for games I already own, its killing me.

On the fence about RR Unbound...demo was good, but I know if I buy it something else will go on sale today/tmmrw that I want more...ugh!

Well I have till what, tuesday morning to decide? Might go monday and trade in a couple old games to gs to get a little extra ms money...

Just a note of warning. I already owned Pool Nation and it was quite willing to let me buy it again.

Ridge Racer is a pretty entertaining racing game. It isn't easy... I've only come in first two or three times so far. But that isn't a huge hurdle. And it's easy to cheat if you don't want to tough it out.

Yeah, Tuesday morning. Between that, Dirt 3 and Driver San Francisco, the long-asked arcade racers sale I wanted arrived.

Can I say one more thing in Ridge Racer Unbounded's favour?

I haven't even played the game - it's probably fairly good as how could Bugbear screw up a racing game? - but what sells me most about this game is that it's a full fledged racer that I can store on my HD and the whole game is only 1.6GB. Which is amazing for a game that started its life on a disc.

It's sad to say but at this point my dwindling HD space is making my purchasing choices for me (I have 3 external HDs all but one of which are full - 2x320GB and 1x60GB - and two 32GB USBs full too)

I did end up beating Assault Heroes 2, and it was OK but nothing remarkable. The achievements are quite terrible as well.
How does it manage to lose the appeal from the first one? The first one never did anything unbelievable, it was just good fun. What did they change that fucked it up?

Oh right. Torchlight. Love the first, but whatever happened to the second one? There were tales of it being released on almost all the platforms, but still only the PC has it right now. And its been like what? 18 months since release? What the hell?

They decided the game was just too big, something to do with the pet AI or something. It couldn't be made to be under Microsoft's file limit or something along those lines, last I heard anyhow.

Gotta say being poor sucks. I'm extremely limited in what I can spend, so while the extra $4.99 is nothing to most guys here, for me that $4.99 has to go to something I'll get lots of time out of. RRU may be the way to go, but def need to see if anything else comes along in the next two days.

As far as storage, try being me...one 20gb HD, one 8gb usb, and one 4gb usb is all my storage. I have to keep deleting/redownloading when I want to play something different. And I'm still using my fat arcade unit. It was repaired by MS twice, and then I had the dvd drive replaced locally two years ago...lol.

Oh right. I remember reading that article and feeling much sadness. =[ But it's not even out for MACs, man that's a lot of Mac users that's going to be pissed...or just learned how to use boot camp. One of the two.

I asked a developer for Runic at PAX 12 point-blank if they were bringing TL2 to XBLA/Xbox 360 and he confidently said no. And that was like right as the game was about to be released.

I feel the pain. I skipped on Condemned for 5 to make sure I still have 8 bucks or so for the final day, just in case something crazy pops up. I just hope that, if craziness arrives, it won't be above 10$ lol.

On a side-note, Saints Row IV will be on sale tomorrow among other things according to the preview. That would be EXTREMELY tempting at a 10$, despite me wanting an all-DLC edition.

I never did it the last time it was on sale, but im on the fence about the orange box. should i?
It's 5 of the best games of the past 10 years: the whole Half Life 2 "trilogy" (I'll just assume Episode 3 will never come out), the brilliant Portal, and Team Fortress 2. Granted, they're not as patched and updated as on PC, but they're 5 great games that will take you at least a hundred hours altogether if you like 'em and crave completion. Brilliant package.

Everybody needs to buy Pool Nation. I'm not big on pool and am horrid at it in real life, but that game is simply outstanding and does a fantastic job of streamlining everything into an easy to understand format that had me pulling off moves I didn't even know existed in minutes!

Also it has some mighty fine looking balls; I'd definitely buy that for $1

Thanks for the helpful insight, made my choice now.

Picked the Orange Box for $5 for a crap load of content.

Fast forward 2 years later, and Microsoft decides they want to release Lococycle on the 360, so they circumvent the XBLA limit by releasing the game at 2gb along with a mandatory free 2gb "videos & extra content" pack to install for the 4gb XBLA game.

I will never understand why they didn't release Torchlight 2 as a full retail. I would have paid up to $30 (for a $60 release) for a disc version, and that's saying a LOT coming from me.

I remember the original story being something about not enough memory on the 360, but whatever the reason they officially chose to go with, it's all some sort of lie/bad excuse, because: Diablo 3 360.

Skipped it just because it really does look kinda dated now, and I know something else I'd want more is sure to come on sale as soon as I buy something I only kind of want. If nothing (crossed fingers) does show up on sale that I want then I'll buy RR:U.
