This thread has been replaced by TSDT v11

Daily Deal:
Please check the Steam homepage.

Weeklong Deals:
Steam usually has week-long deals that change on Mondays at 6PM UTC. They mostly feature indie games, and may not run every week.

Sale summary lists:

Key:
⤷ indicates DLC, — specifies part of a pack, + shows alternative versions, ⚠ highlights things worth knowing, ♫ is obvious, and ... denotes a multi-pack.

Holiday Sale 2013 | 19/12/13 through 3/1/14:
Days 1-3, 4-6, 7-9, 10-12, 13-14.

Spring/Autumn Sale 2013 | 27/11/13 through 3/12/13:
All days.

Steam deals on other stores: (Related threads on CAG.)

Indie* bundle threads: (*Not always indie, nor always a bundle.)

Free stuff:
There are quite a few free games (mostly Free to Play) and mods available via the Steam platform, a comprehensive list of which can be found in this thread on the SPUF.
(NOTE: free games are not permanently attached to your Steam account like actual purchases would be. You'll need to manually download a game again from the website if you uninstall it.)

Hmm... with the Greenlight floodgates open, I wonder how important the "likes" are for getting onto steam. ...I wonder about the longer term viability of greenlight bundles... which is also hurt by d-bag devs reneging on steam keys promises.
I've heard from more than one developer who were at the Steam Dev Days 2014 that the Greenlight system as we know it will start to get phased out over time. "Likes", while still very important today, will probably not be so in a year from now. I couldn't get any kind of clarification as to what might be replacing it, but I think you're right that as the entry process into Steam changes, so too will bundles that exist solely to spotlight games not yet on Steam.

Instead of a "like" there'll be a little digital penis you must caress if you're interested in the game.

"I like it, but I don't like-like it."

I agree with everything you said but OTOH maybe we should all stop taking the bait and voting for games we know are trash just because there's a promise of a Steam key (and potential for cards). I know I have been guilty of it.

And yeah, putting a zombie game on Steam is basically like a printing press spitting out money.
Who cares if a game's trash?

The point is - if a developer and a bundle-site come to an agreement that Steam keys are going to be given-out if they do make it onto Steam from Steam's Greenlight process, it should freaking happen.

If they both NEVER promised Steam keys, this would be another story. You'd only get whatever version you paid for (probably DRM-FREE), when buying into the Bundle.

*Edited to add: Oh and I regularly watch for keys when Greenlight games get added. This sort of thing has happened repeatedly and they almost always do end up giving the keys in the end, but I've never seen it get this much attention or get this many people talking before. fucking zombies.
Um. Gas Guzzlers? (Ashes pointed it out. I'd completely forgotten about those assholes.)

Not this crew, that's for sure.
It's all about getting games w/ CARDZ and trying to level-up my Steam account level, these days. ;)

Damn Steam is turning itself into some kinda meta-RPG game.

Its Multiplayer is surely a lot more rewarding than the MP for COD: Ghosts. ;)

There's no clarification about what is replacing it yet because Valve doesn't even know. It's the same thing Gabe said a year ago, he would like to do away with Greenlight eventually but it's still here with the same system over a year since he first said that. They'll phase it out on Valve Time. Like maybe right after Half Life 3 comes out. I think people put too much stock in Gabe Newell's musings sometimes.

Having said that, I think they should just get rid of it, not replace it and let anyone and everyone in. It's pretty clear at this point any standards they may have had have completely gone out the fucking window at this point and for any game that is not getting let in I can easily pick out multiple games already on Steam that are much worse.

Who cares of a game is that I voted for is trash and I knew it was trash when I voted for it? It's gaming the system. The point is supposed to be 'Would you buy this game?' not 'Would you vote for this game because it's already in a bundle you bought and you want a Steam key so you can idle for cards'. There is a significant difference between those two things.

Now I'm not saying he should not be held up to his agreements, of course he should. I'm saying maybe we as Steam users and people who vote on Greenlight should be a little more careful and genuine about what we are voting for (and I'm including myself here).

My kid got bored with Ghosts. He's back to playing Black Ops 2 which he says is (a) better and (b) has all of his unlocks and stuff. No reason to bother skilling a Ghosts character up through the same crap for essentially the same game experience.

So Ghosts couldn't hold the attention of a 14 year old.

Well, hell - I guess that means Greenlight's here to stay...FOREVER!

We'll probably get Left 4 Dead 6 before HL3 - people love zombies. ;)

Ah, yeah - I get what you're saying now. Fair enough.

EDIT:

Don't know if it's worth mentioning - but I barely vote on Greenlight.

re: Bundle Bandits

Well if nothing else it's a cheaper way to get Nightmares from the Deep if you don't want or already have the rest of the stuff in the Groupees Capsule bundle which probably won't have a happy hour.

I liked Nightmares from the Deep. It's actually one of the rare games I've finished lately. If you like hidden object games it's probably one of the better ones, albeit a bit cheesy but they all kind of are. Plus is has cards so there's that.
Nightmares of the Deep was really good. Cross breeding hidden object games with point and click adventures is always great fun. Of course, I got it for free, so...

That dev tops the one who was like "hell no" to keys for bundle buyers. McDroid, I think. He caved after a little bit of pressure. These are the cases where bitching actually makes a difference, and thank goodness for those who do.

I also love the irony of the Zombies. dev having an album on his bandcamp page called "a liar and a thief": http://www.thebignic.com/music.php

So I guess I might give four in Feb a shot.  Just finished Shelter and goodness am I a horrible parent.  Short game and I recommend it to anyone who can appreciate a good experience.  It's not your traditional game, but it's definitely far better than those walking sims.

So far:

1.  OMG Zombies

2. Shelter

3.

4.

This is... interesting.

http://bignic.bandcamp.com/album/zombies

This soundtrack contains 32 tracks originally released as the full soundtrack for the game "Zombies." as well as the 4 additional tracks included in the "Corporate Lifestyle Simulator" expansion pack.

So his new version of the game is actually an expansion pack. Why didn't he just... say that to begin with? Ugh...

Are you gonna aim for 5 in March? ;)

EDIT:

How can a fucking tweet be so long you need to TLDR it? (Or is he talking about the contract he signed that said he would indeed give away steam keys?)
Maybe it's that there were multiple tweets and exchanges going on before that tweet?

{shrug}

Also, I recently, as in yesterday made a new CAG Steam Group for Loadout... It again has a master list thread for people's in game Loadout name.

http://steamcommunity.com/groups/CAG_Loadout
I guess I didn't quite explain this well enough... If you join, you might want to do a litle bit more than just... well, join. There is a thread called Master List that you'll likely want to look at.

http://steamcommunity.com/groups/CAG_Loadout/discussions/0/558748822398562833/

As of right now just being steam friends is good enough, you need to be friends in Loadout also. Its likely most people are using the same name (but like uplay) its not essential so having a master list of usernames will make it easier on all if you want to play with fellow CAGs.

Anyhow, thanks for all who have joined so far. :)

I still don't think I'll do 4 games this month. I actually ended up on a string of anime marathons now instead. I've been blowing through a few full series in one sitting. Ones I've finished this month are Kemeko Deluxe, Mirai Nikki, Say I Love You, Heaven's Lost Property, Kiniro Mosaic, Maison Ikkoku (rewatched), School Rumble (rewatched). Currently watching Blood C. I started Attack On Titan as well however I may wait to finish that later on. The first episode alone was brutal. I've been trying to play through Persona 4 and will continue to do so but everytime I play for a while it gets me in the mood to watch more anime. If I really wanted to do the 4 in February thing I could still do it. I have many short games to breeze through but I like to take my time and dick around too much. I also easliy get distracted not just by anime but many family/friend errands/requests. I've also taken to sleeping a lot. I wonder if I'm getting sick or something.

So I guess I might give four in Feb a shot..
I did WORK this month.

Here is my February Completed Games list:

  • Guacamelee
  • Max Payne 3
  • Mass Effect
  • Finding Teddy
  • Oozi

I'll be finishing up Waking Mars & Call of Juarez next hopefully.

I only really get time to play on the weekends, but my plan is to pair an indie game with every non-indie game I complete.

That kinda forces me to play them.

flash game?

faux 8 bit aesthetic?

pixel art selfie on twitter?

zombies in game title?

diva dev?

yup, fuuck that guy and his shitty game

Side note: After suffering through Condemned: Criminal Origins yesterday, I tried to move on with another game today...which is Lara Croft: Guardian of Light. It's very enjoyable...I highly recommend it.
I love that game! Well, uh, the first level, which I'm now played three times. Once in the demo, before I decided to buy the game itself. Then twice coop with friends who I never got to play any more with me. :(((( Sadness! I wish I had friends to local coop with like I used to.

Damn you guys, now I want the IG Capsule. Bundlebandits, while cheap, isn't worth it to me for only two Steam games, especially when the other one is Hero Siege. JCAII, how did you get it for free?

Maybe if you go back to being called annihilator you'll have more friends again

Finished my 4th game to complete my Four in February: Mass Effect 2(PS3)

Sure I finished the game about a thousand times on the Xbox 360, along with 1 & 3, but it's the first time I beat ME2 on the PS3. Four in February is now complete!

Edit: Apparently snakeybro doesn't like that answer. Too bad. I haven't played ME2 in years. I consider it a game to beat. The PS3 version has been in my backlog for ages. I aim to beat the trilogy on 360, PS3, and PC.

360 trilogy is complete.

PS3 trilogy is half complete. Gotta finish up some things in ME2 and beat ME3.

PC trilogy isn't even started since I don't own ME3 on PC. I own 1 & 2 on Origin.

Wow that tweet from that twat is ridiculous.

There's no reason not to give them Steam keys. They bought your stupid game already. What, do you want them to buy it again to get a Steam key? If an indie dev refused to provide a Steam key, but I had bought their game and still wanted to play it...I'd just add it to Steam as a non-Steam game, not buy it again. The amount of lost profit you get from people willing to buy a game a second time from a developer who screwed them just to get a Steam key probably doesn't really outweigh the shit you have to deal with for being a douche, does it?

Edit: I just remembered that time an indie dev who made Pickle Frenzy was in the CAG forums and Sunasun called his game Penis Frenzy and the dev got all pissed, lol. Good times.
whatever happened to that thread? serves him right for telling me I deserved to be hacked after buying his shitty game.

Instead of a "like" there'll be a little digital breast you must honk if you're interested in the game.

ftfy

I wonder when I'm gonna get a Zombies steam key now since i paid 25 cents for it from sunasun heh

I'm not doing 4 For February, but I'm making good progress this month.

Last night I beat, and 100%'d, The Plan. Well worth the time I spent on it.

p.s. It's also free. That's so cheap even Mooby will play it.

You have excellent taste, my friend.

I hadn't considered beating the trilogy on all my available platforms. PC and PS3 have been beaten more than that horse gif, but I've only played ME2 on 360. Hmmm.....
