This thread will maintain a list of all current and upcoming sales and markdowns on the Xbox Live Marketplace / Xbox Games Store for the USA.  YMMV in other regions.  If non-US sales are listed, they will be marked with their applicable region(s).

Please note:

  • You cannot currently buy any Xbox 360 content on xbox.com using your account balance, you can only use an active credit card or PayPal. To use your balance, you must make purchases on your console.  Unfortunately, even "purchasing" free content through the web site like trials requires an alternative method of payment tied to your account, though adding an empty MasterCard / Visa gift card that is registered for online purchases will work.  Xbox One games can be purchased on the web site with your account balance, but DLC cannot.
  • Some sales are intended for Gold subscribers only, as noted within each section.  This requires being a paid subscriber or within a console-activated "1 month complimentary Gold trial" account.  Neither 48 hour trials, 14 day trials nor free weekends qualify.
  • All known sales and information on sales should make their way into the OP. Major Nelson usually updates his blog with new sales information every other Tuesday.
  • ALL OFFERS ARE SUBJECT TO CHANGE! No information within this thread can or should be construed as accurate (or still valid), therefore ...
  • Always verify Xbox Live Marketplace prices before your purchase!
  • Spend wisely, have fun, and enjoy!

Is there any chance of the Black Ops 2 season ever going any lower than 50% off, or even going on sale again someday? Because $25 seems a little steep, and I can definitely wait. If not I'll just buy it now.

CoD sales are up. Ad hasn't updated but if you just navigate to the items yourselves, you'll notice they are already knocked down. Went ahead and picked up the last 2 map pack DLCs for Black Ops II. Wish they would put the original Black Ops DLC on the block. Still need the last pack that includes Moon & the original 4 maps redone

Final haul:

Skyrim

Bejeweled 3

Ridge Racer: Unbounded

Dirt 3

Wow... That's really not so much... I thought I had bought more than that.
OK... So I added Oblivion and Rock of Ages this morning... I mean, Oblivion, at $3.74, using M$ store starbucks that were 2/3 off, it only really cost me $1.25. That's a lot of content for a buck twenty five.

I still have so much credit from that sale. Man, that was epic.

Sorry to keep dragging up and cluttering this thread with my question - I know Dirt 3 has multiplayer but I'm wondering if the Game on Demand version of Dirt 3 has multiplayer built in (not requiring an additional $10 purchase of the VIP pass). Thanks!
Dude, yes Dirt 3 has multiplayer as in the GoD version has multiplayer.

Just saw this from the Xbox Twitter feed:

@Xbox: Return to Rome w/ 33% off a #Ryse: Son of Rome [M] Season Pass, TODAY ONLY on #XboxLive.

Wasn't aware that it was today only but I guess it is!

I never got one or two of those codes from that epic sale, and I doubt they do anything about it now :p I did burn through what I managed to score a LONG time ago, before I slowed down my XBL purchases substantially.

As for my sale haul? Runner2, Soul Calibur II, Pool Nation, and Real Steel. I was happy to see lots of very steep XBLA discounts; I was sad to see that many of them were for games I had already paid more for and in some cases never played. Still slapping myself over Guardians of ME.

If it's still active so late, people should consider checking out Rock Band Blitz. And someone should check out the Adventure Time game for $20... if they like being ripped off ;)

Really glad I logged in again and checked the sales. I had never purchased Limbo!

Figured this weeks sale wouldn't be much to excite! At least we get a new Games with Gold soon!

I predict... Lost Planet or a sports/racing game*

*this prediction may not be popular but I'm having trouble coming up with games that haven't been on sale/features lately. Only time will tell!

I'm the exact opposite. Until the November sale, I hadn't really bought ANY GoD titles and very few arcade titles. I bought mostly Rocksmith songs or Add On DLCs up to then. Now I have a pretty decent GoD collection, too - and it's kind of nice not having to switch out discs.

So am I reading it wrong on the Microsoft Rewards promo for season passes, but if I spend $50 on those select season passes I get $50 back or the season passes for free basically? Or did I miss the small print somewhere?

No if you spend $50 on select season passes, you will get 5,000 points put into your XBL rewards account (which is the equivalent of $5).

Goddamn I hate Microsoft's stupid fucking point system. Reward wise I mean. Live points we still cool.

I started picking them up in industrial numbers when these Ultimate Game Sales started. Not gonna go and count now but between Ultimate Game Sales, Black Friday, Cyber Monday, Countdown Sales and whatnot, I racked up 60-70 GoD games, nearly all of them bought in the last year/year and a half. It's a noticeable change, because I got a 250 GB HDD for my Xbox 360 Elite (which had a 120GB) because I couldn't fit all my games anymore, but not by much: in fact when I moved to the 250GB one, I downloaded back everything I was forced to delete, and I still had 80 or so GBs left. So back then I had around what... 170 GBs of stuff? And this was after 3.5 years of Xbox 360 usage, with me buying arcades, DLCs and such quite a lot (I already had 100 or so arcades at this point). Now? I'm probably over 600 GBs of stuff, and while 20-30 are probably from arcades, the sudden rise in the amount of GoDs (many of them moving around 6-7 GBs) is killing my HDD. Whereas one year ago I was totally fine, I currently have... probably around 50 games (40 or so GoDs and 10 or so arcades) not installed for space constraints. And I'm not even going to mention how I deleted tons of free DLCs (looking at you Forza), mandatory giant patches (Battlefield 3), and so on. By the end of the X360 cycle, I'll probably need 4 HDDs. Damn.

idk why MS doesn't put out a 500GB or 1TB HDD for the 360. I'd pay their premium price if I had to. Between the sales and the GfG i'm surprised they haven't yet.

This. At this rate I'll need 4-5 of those 250 GB HDDs, or maybe some of those 320 GB ones if I upgrade to the Slim. If they turn off Live sometime down the line without giving any chance to redownload content, I need some place to store my stuff. I really hope they offer some kind of solution, let that be keeping up the servers for stuff you bought (kinda like what happens now to your delisted games - can't be bought but can be redownloaded), or allowing custom HDDs, or even releasing bigger HDDs. Between games requiring installs as of late, giant DLCs and patches (Battlefield games easily go around 15 GBs lately), all these insane sales on GoD games, GwG giving us many GoD games, etc. etc.... a lot of people are having space issues, and this is February 2014. We'll likely have servers on for at least 2 more years if we're to trust MS's words, if I have like 600 GBs now (out of which 400 or so come from the past 12 months), what will happen in the next 2 years?

Whereas one year ago I was totally fine, I currently have... probably around 50 games (40 or so GoDs and 10 or so arcades) not installed for space constraints. And I'm not even going to mention how I deleted tons of free DLCs (looking at you Forza), mandatory giant patches (Battlefield 3), and so on. By the end of the X360 cycle, I'll probably need 4 HDDs. Damn.
If history is any indication, the marketplace for Xbox 360 games will be shut down in six or seven years. The market was much smaller back then, but I wonder if there are any people today who wish they downloaded Ninja Gaiden DLC or Halo 2 map packs before everything was taken offline. I'm betting not. So in a decade's time, you're unlikely to be playing your 360 games. From that perspective, it's difficult for me to continue buying XBLA games - I passed on everything from this Ultimate sale. It's actually one of the factors that pushed me towards making all my digital purchases on PS3. (They are still selling PSone and PS2 games for chrissakes.)

Microsoft isn't a company that benefits from having a long shelf life for their products. Look at their flagship brand Windows - a new version is released every couple of years and they discontinue support for the old one some years after that. I already filled up both of my 20GB hard drives with games and I'm not paying those exorbitant prices for larger ones. If they don't relax those restrictions on USB drives, it's no skin off my back - I'm happy to shop with the competition.

While you may be right, Windows XP is still getting support as of 2014. One can only hope 360 will also benefit or a similarly long support at least.

Did you mean that Microsoft supported Windows XP for a long time? (They are discontinuing support in April.) They did but Windows XP was not only one of their most successful products of all time, but Windows has always been the market leader of operating systems - all the other systems combined don't touch Windows sales. Xbox has never been in that position. Even more worrying, some of Microsoft's executives don't even want the company in the video games industry.

Xbox 360 was leading the sales for long. In US I remember it being the most sold console for like 2 years in a row each month. As of overall sales it is on par with PS3, and while the numbers don't reach Wii's numbers... well, Wii is barely even a current console, people bought all of those in the first years, basically. They are up there, so a long-term support is not out of the options. Windows XP came out 13 years ago and it's still getting support. Official support will cease in April, but from what I understand, antivirus and security will still be safeguarded for longer. 13 years of full support, and even more of partial one. Xbox 360 could last with full support at least until 2016 as promised, and after that? They could leave servers for downloading open, so you don't lose your digital content even when the multiplayer and marketplace go down. That would be awesome.

Arent we the optimist? Lol

Been swapping my 120gb and 250gb depending on the games I downloaded. Due to the past week's sales, my 250gb is full. I decided to just use two of my HDs strictly for storage. I decided to reorganize everything and I spent Sat and into Sunday redownloading all my GoD to a new 250gb which left it with about 6gb. I am now redownloading all the live games onto my old 250gb which should leave it with about 100gb. From here on, I'll strictly use my 120gb to dl new stuff and redownload stuff I want to currently play so I don't have to keep swapping HDs. I'll transfer the contents to my storage HDs when it gets full.

To think, when I first got my 360 I never thought I would dl games let alone need several HDs as I prefer physical copies. But when you can get retail games for under $5 it's hard to resist.

Well, it would suck otherwise. In a world relying more and more on digital, if they can't prove that digital content is set to say and it's not going to expire, why would people go all digital in the next generation of consoles?

Microsoft will continue to support the Xbox 360 ecosystem as long as it is profitable. They'll keep the servers up for at least a couple of years. That said, all this talk of Microsoft selling the Xbox brand is pretty silly. Who exactly is going to buy them? They won't sell to Google or Apple due to the massive IP/Patent portfolio exchange that will have to take place. Plus, Satya Nadella is a supporter/fan for what it's worth.

I'm just wondering what the cost would be for Microsoft to leave a few servers open merely for the downloading of titles in perpetuity. I assume as time goes actual downloading of games from these servers would diminish to the point that it would narrow down to a very cheap and almost zero cost system when you think for a moment that they are talking about 300,000+ servers for the XBone. Just leave a few open just so that people can redownload their titles from the marketplace when needed. I think that would win MS a load of support from gamers in general. Considering that our rage sparked a movement that made them change their policies on the XBone and considering the lack of backwards compatability, I think MS would be smart enough to know that there will still be plenty of people playing the 360 for at least the next decade (I mean Don Mattick was quoted as telling people that if they don't want an only online machine to go out and buy a 360) and that they shouldn't screw them over for the sake of a few dollars as these are often the core gamers who hang onto old systems and enjoy going back to them. It's worth the cost of a few servers to keep everyone happy. While I don't think we should hold out hope that online multiplayer for games will last that long, lets be honest there communities for these games tend to die out as well, I think access to the marketplace is fundemental.

And for those who think Sony has its hands-clean with this sort of stuff, look at what's happening to GT5 right now. Three years into its life and they're pulling the DLC, making some of it even undownloadable even if you've purchased it, and taking down the online servers. That seems crazy to me as GT6 just came out a few months ago and people ought not to be penalized for having not invested in the new game.

But basically I think we all should band together if Microsoft ever does try to disconnect our ability to download content we've purchased from the marketplace and start another online outrage to help shape their decision. The main reason that most of us disliked the whole idea of MS going entirely digital with the XBone was that we were all scared that this exact situation might one day happen with that system. If MS wants us to not fear digital moving forward they need to handle the transition of closing out the 360 in such a way as that they cast aside all out fears for what would have been for the XBone. Otherwise I don't think core gamers will ever feel comfortable accepting the idea of digital only game libraries.

But I think we're all jumping the gun here. They are still manufacturing and selling Xbox 360s. There are still a number of huge 360 games (some like Dark Souls II which are not coming to the current gen) coming out in the next 2 years. I mean GTA V just came out a few months ago. Phantom Pain will be coming, if we're lucky, at the end of 2015. Yes EA has seen a 35% drop in sales on titles on the last-gen systems since the launch of the current-gen systems, but in all truthfulness what EA titles have come out since the launch of current-gen systems? Battlefield 4? Madden & NBA Live? Peggle 2? No one has really released anything amazing since the launch which probably accounts to low sales. It's been a very nice few months for getting through some of the backlog as I'm sure most will note. So for now last-gen is alive and well. Hopefully it still has a few more years of titles in store for it (remember some of the best for the PS2 game out at the end of its cycle . . . Shadows of the Colossus).

I just finished Contrast. It took me a little less than a day to finish the game with are the chievos (they are pretty easy, though I had to check three of them because I didn't know where to get them). It can be done easily in less than 6 hours, without rushing.

Got the game last time it was on sale and I gotta say that it really worths the 600msp I spent on it ($7,50, but I bought a msp card, so...). $15 would be too much imo though. The jazz music, the the story (simple but good), the idea of using the shadows as
another dimension
and the feel of the game are pretty well done. The only problem is that the character moves with a weird stiffness, but I've seen worse.

I'm sure the game will go on sale a few times in the future, just remember that it worths a playthrough. The only excuse should be not liking platformers and/or having a 150+ backlog. Anyways I moved the game to the top of my backlog because I wanted to play something easy and short.

I've mentioned this elsewhere, and I'll say it again here considering Microsoft ending 360 support in 2016. Everybody is misunderstanding what this means.

When Microsoft claims they'll end support in 2016, I'd have to imagine that this refers to new releases. Remember the original Xbox and it's servers? They were still live until just three years ago or so, five years (approx) into the 360's lifetime, and by that point, people weren't really playing much that wasn't Halo 2.

I personally see 360 servers being up until at least 2020, giving us a solid six years into the X1's lifespan. Whether at that point servers will be shut down entirely or will be made downloadable only remains to be seen, but I wouldn't worry about it for now. Heck, in five years, most of us will probably have next gen consoles and our 360s will be collecting dust.

I think we just need to keep complaining to Microsoft to remove their asinine limit on external storage. Since they don't release ever larger HDDs (the sole excuse they gave for limiting to 32GBs), their reason for the limit is now complete and utter BS.

Idk, I don't plan to get a next gen console... ever. I have 200+ games for my 360, so I firmly believe that I can do well with that. And if I want to play a future game, I'll get a better PC. I'm fine if MS keeps support until 2020, of course, but I like to have everything DL in my HDD's. The only problem I see with MS closing support, is if my 360 dies, since the HDD's games won't have a valid license in the new system (legally). In than case, I'd be owner of a ton of demos.

That's what I would like to do. But things usually go different than expected so... who knows.

how long does it take xbox live rewards to deposits the points i requested
"Can I get my Rewards Credits faster?

A.Yes. If you reach 1,000 Rewards Credits or more, a 'Request Deposit' button will appear on your MyRewards page. Click on the 'Request Deposit' button for an early deposit! The early deposit will be deposited into your Microsoft account by the next scheduled deposit date on your MyRewards page. Check out the progress bar at the top of your MyRewards page to see your Credits progress."

EDIT: I just requested mine be deposited and this popped up,

" Please note, if the next published deposit date is in 3 days or less, your request will not be processed until the deposit date immediately following the upcoming one."

I think if this is the case we'll all be J-tagging our Xbox 360s at some point or finding some way to hack them to access content that we own. But I think the person who said it is right, while new games/peripheral development might end in 2016 the system itself will likely be supported til at least 2020.

Pretty much this.

The platforming in Burgertime World Tour makes Doritos Crash Course look like Super Meat Boy.  It's a shame because some of the level designs are rather devious and interesting.  But they're not a lot of fun with super floaty controls, trial and error gameplay, and a sometimes questionable hitbox.
