This thread has been replaced by TSDT v11

Daily Deal:
Please check the Steam homepage.

Weeklong Deals:
Steam usually has week-long deals that change on Mondays at 6PM UTC. They mostly feature indie games, and may not run every week.

Sale summary lists:

Key:
⤷ indicates DLC, — specifies part of a pack, + shows alternative versions, ⚠ highlights things worth knowing, ♫ is obvious, and ... denotes a multi-pack.

Holiday Sale 2013 | 19/12/13 through 3/1/14:
Days 1-3, 4-6, 7-9, 10-12, 13-14.

Spring/Autumn Sale 2013 | 27/11/13 through 3/12/13:
All days.

Steam deals on other stores: (Related threads on CAG.)

Indie* bundle threads: (*Not always indie, nor always a bundle.)

Free stuff:
There are quite a few free games (mostly Free to Play) and mods available via the Steam platform, a comprehensive list of which can be found in this thread on the SPUF.
(NOTE: free games are not permanently attached to your Steam account like actual purchases would be. You'll need to manually download a game again from the website if you uninstall it.)

does anybody know for sure if you get spec ops the line w/a purchase of ace patrol in that gamefly deal? seems like almost too good a deal to be true

For the record, if you put ketchup on eggs or hot dogs then you should be flogged with the computer cables of a hundred whiny amateur game developers, and sour cream is infinitely inferior to creme fraiche. Now, what does everyone think of poutine?
Everyone knows eggs get salsa. And, of course, hot dogs get mustard and hot peppers.

They won't send out the coupons for Spec Ops until after the sale ends so no ones know definitively now, but the GameFly rep seemed to confirm it on Reddit.

I got my invite for the ESO Beta on PC this weekend and they sent me a free key to give to a friend.  I don't have any of those so I figured I would offer it to one of the members here instead.  Just message me if you would like the key.  First come, first serve and all that.

Edit: Gone

I bought RE4 from GreenManGaming.

And now I find out I don't get keys until it's released... so I can't preload.

Luckily there's other ways to get the files, so at least I won't have to download 9 GB on the release date. :p

Edit: Oh apparently there's rewards for playing Ultionus for the first time on PlayFire, so there's that at least.

Political crap in recent years has changed the meaning of "entitled" in 'murica to being slur applicable to anyone you don't like for pretty much anything.
Entitled is the new Communist.

Well, I reinstalled Diablo 3 last night to try the Loot 2.0 patch. I farmed Ghorn a few times on Master difficulty and then uninstalled the game.

I do enjoy the patch quite a bit. I was actually picking up most loot (though rares are still pretty useless), and I even found 3 legendaries which were huge upgrades from my previous gear. I enjoyed finding several rares via challenging elite mobs, and I found that the difficulty of elites was generally more consistent than during launch (there were some mod combinations that would pretty much make some elites invincible on Inferno). I had to waste a lot of time tinkering with my build since it feels like every single skill was changed significantly, but I actually found that bit of micromanagement quite enjoyable.

So why did I uninstall it? I had a flash back of just how much Diablo 3 I played at launch, just how unfulfilled I felt after every play session, and just how relieved I was when I finally kicked the habit. I think at my age with my limited time, I can't play games that have no end in sight with very little enjoyment in the journey. I either want to play games that have a fun journey and a distinct end (most narrative driven games) or sandbox games that are so fun in the journey that I don't find myself kicking myself for wasting the air I breathed during the gameplay (Civilization, Resogun).

Overall though I'm glad that Blizzard made the changes they did, as Diablo 3 in its current incarnation is a far better beast than it was before. If I could travel in time, I think I would have played the heck out of this game 10 years ago.
I feel that way a lot. I buy games because I used to love that style of game and then I find the thrill is gone, but boy would I have loved to put 100 hour so into that sort of game years ago in my youth.

These days I'm all about short, narrative driven games. Well not overly short or artsy fartsy. Just something short, sweet, entertaining and not overly hard or grindy.

Yeah, I have 1095 games and am at Level 19. You max out with just hoarding. You have to craft badges after that.

And the game looks very good. I like the art. It looks well made and I usually don't like retro stuff. I think the guy is talented as a dev and I hope his PR skills don't sink him, it just seems he's also pretty clueless on how the business works. I mean .05 cents a bundle is pretty pathetic for a payout, but if he just paid attention to the price, sales, and structure of the bundle, it's not surprising.
I actually rather like the game too truth be told (even though I kind of suck at it, no surprise). It's retro done well, not some ridiculous hipster pixel fako pretentious nonsense. It actually seems like something I could have bought back in the old days on a cartridge

But yeah, I don't know what these developers are thinking when they put their games in a bundle. There's a difference between 'I'm Tim Schafer and I just hired 8 more people for my studio and want to get their salaries for the next year lined up so I'm putting my games in another Humble Bundle' vs 'No one's paying attention to my game on Greenlight so I'm going to put it in some Groupees bundle and try to get some votes to get into Steam'.

Also common sense dictates to read contracts before you agree to them.

Indie developers would do well to actually play games, buy guys, get involved with a community as a regular user etc. at times. I'm sure they all started out as gamers but it probably turned into work to the point where creating, marketing and selling games and all the things that go along with that at the current time are lost on them.

I know when I used to mod years ago I'd spend hundreds of hours modding and never play games except to briefly test the mods. Game creation can become its own microcosm if you let it.

403 games. I'm pretty selective.
I'm guessing at least 50% of those came in the form of hand me downs. Every time a bundle comes up, you add every damn game to your wishlist to catch my scraps. This is why you don't feed wildlife.

Is RE4 cheap on Greenman, what does it cost? I go there and there are zero results for Resident or Resident Evil.

Whoever was talking about RE4 soundtrack, I read in a FAQ that it's ripped from some CD set that was released in the past, you can probably find it from another source if you can't get it as a bonus. Sorry if I misunderstood, I only skimmed the conversation.

I agree with you guys fighting the good fight to get us the Steam keys that were promised to us through these bundles. Motoki is especially Johnny on the spot whenever those games get released he always seems to be in the community page

However, that post seems especially harsh. The dev already apologized and rectified his mistake. I don't think berating him and telling him no one cares about his game is valuable at all. I realize everyone gets angry when devs try to back out of giving keys (either because they legitimately want to back out, or because they are just truly ignorant about the process), but I don't think this accomplishes anything either, IMO of course.

I'd turn gayer for Bruticis.

I've been trolling for the last few pages, personally, but to be quite honest the white knights/net nannies are far worse than any trolls. The dev himself seems like a nice enough person, especially if you look at his kickstarter for his other game, but the white knights are pretty pathetic. Plus, people who put themselves out there need to have thicker skin. You get all sorts of crazies who rage and death threat and do all sorts of pathetic things when they get mad online. Like troll. :)

The game doesn't show up for me on the front page or a search, but it works fine if you follow a link (Neuro5i5's one works.) I believe they attempted to region lock the game for some, but fudged it up.

The preorder price is $15 with the 25% off discount, but you won't get a key until it releases. Blargh.

Yeah, I'm willing to grab the pitchfork like anyone else when it's "You no longer get a steam key that was clearly used as bait to promote our game". Once the inevitable happens and they realize how foolish that was though, I just feel like continually attacking them (especially when they seem genuinely apologetic), is like kicking someone when they're already down.

You lack an avatar, thus your opinion is null and void.
Lies. I don't lack a CAG Avatar. :)
