This thread has been replaced by TSDT v11

Daily Deal:
Please check the Steam homepage.

Weeklong Deals:
Steam usually has week-long deals that change on Mondays at 6PM UTC. They mostly feature indie games, and may not run every week.

Sale summary lists:

Key:
⤷ indicates DLC, — specifies part of a pack, + shows alternative versions, ⚠ highlights things worth knowing, ♫ is obvious, and ... denotes a multi-pack.

Holiday Sale 2013 | 19/12/13 through 3/1/14:
Days 1-3, 4-6, 7-9, 10-12, 13-14.

Spring/Autumn Sale 2013 | 27/11/13 through 3/12/13:
All days.

Steam deals on other stores: (Related threads on CAG.)

Indie* bundle threads: (*Not always indie, nor always a bundle.)

Free stuff:
There are quite a few free games (mostly Free to Play) and mods available via the Steam platform, a comprehensive list of which can be found in this thread on the SPUF.
(NOTE: free games are not permanently attached to your Steam account like actual purchases would be. You'll need to manually download a game again from the website if you uninstall it.)

It's on the front page when I view the site. RE4 is $19.99 and there's an additional 25% off code (O61269-BIMBGU-JRDM3J).

The game doesn't show up for me on the front page or a search, but it works fine if you follow a link (Neuro5i5's one works.) I believe they attempted to region lock the game for some, but fudged it up.

The preorder price is $15 with the 25% off discount, but you won't get a key until it releases. Blargh.
Thanks. $15 is too damn high for my cheap ass blood but I want the game so I'll keep a look out  for future deals.

What are the chances ORION: Dino Horde ends up in a bundle?  I buck is pretty cheap, but then again I'd want two copies, but then the four pack is three bucks, but I don't want four copies.

As I said, I'd rather do this as soon as possible. :p

And I don't like rebates. I'd rather have instant discounts.
It sounds as though you have your mind made up, which is fine, but you'll pay more and chances are the parts won't be as good.

I'm getting ready for a build myself and I started by doing a little research and then getting a rough estimate through PC Part Picker. That ought to help me monitor prices as I pick up each piece.

... My computer is SIX years old so I'm WAY overdue for a core system overhaul. I've upgraded the video card several times (I've had them die on me at least twice); my CPU (Athlon 64x2 5000+ 2.6Ghz Black Edition) and the low amount of RAM I have (3 GB) are what keep holding me back.

I don't need to have stuff like x16 animetropical * filters or whatever, I just want games to run fine.

(* I know it's Anisotropic. I'm just being silly.)

Well this: http://www.hardware-revolution.com/budget-gaming-pc-computer-november-2013/

And Tom's Hardware are the two best places to find the best bang for your buck recommendations, though HR hasn't been updated in a few months. You don't necessarily have to do rebates, but that can make a huge difference sometimes. Rebates allowed me to get 8GB in my build three years ago and no rebates would have limited to 2 or 4GB.

Anyone willing to buy Sid Meier's Pirates for me? Its $1.99 with feb20off coupon in gamefly. You can keep the free Spec Ops if you want. Thanks!!

Nvm, somebody informed me that its not a steam key.

As much as I loathe reddit, this is a great link to check once a day to keep an eye on PC parts deals:

I'll be honest and lose my cheap street cred here that I mostly upgrade all at once. I don't normally have the patience or foresight to do it piecemeal on sales.

I do comparison shop and try to get the best value for the price and get good parts but at the same time make sure what I'm getting actually applies to the way I use the PC so I'm not buying more than I need (ie I don't need a ton more than 8GB of RAM for gaming since games aren't going to use it).

Newegg I find on the whole has the best prices or very near. The large amount of reviews there are helpful too since it gives you a wide selection of people's experiences with the product and they are generally people who are more tech savvy than somewhere like Amazon.

There's a browser plugin called Priceblink that I use. It's pretty handy in that if you look at a product's page it will tell you if there's a lower price somewhere else. Most times like I said I find Newegg to be at or near the lowest and if it's a minor difference I just buy from Newegg for the convenience of getting it all from one place, plus I've dealt with them before in the past and I know they are good about returns.

Also you can check price history on items on Camelegg.com or priceblink.com which gives you a good idea of the lowest that particular part tends to go and how often, if at all, it goes on sale.

Guys, if you bought Resident Evil 4 at GMG, they sent out keys for the game three hours ago.

Time to preload...

Thanks for the suggestions about the places where I can look up info on the parts themselves.

Aw man, Ultionus has no cardz. I wanted a boobs background
It doesn't surprise me. It just got Greenlit. I think that is one of the fastest turn around times I've seen from Greenlit to sold on Steam so I didn't expect any Steam features to be incorporated.

Would be nice if they were later though. *shrug*

You're a few streets away from Popeyes and you went to KFC. Da fuk?

And isn't the broad street market open today? The Amish and Mennonites sell delicious chicken.
Does Pasport have a stalker to go along with broken taste buds...?

Chicken talk; I prefer Popeyes but will go to whomever has chicken gizzards.

Of course the best chicken and/or gizzards is at Strouds... but that's not fast food nor is it outside of Kansas City... (but if you Google Kansas City chicken their website is the first result.)

Oh, and since we're talking about Strouds I might as well show their shirt...

I had such a hectic day yesterday I completely forgot I had gotten in on that Gamefly deal...pretty awesome deal, if you ask me. Most of the games in the sale are at reasonable prices, if not good ones, even before the 20% off voucher...add in free Spec Ops, and I was reeled in.

I just completed Dusty Revenge:Co-Op Edition the second time. The game is very similar to Streets of Rage, plenty of cool fighting moves and with each level you gained, you can execute more different combos. You can choose to play as either Dusty the rabbit or Kitsune the fox. Fists, swords, guns and shurikens, take your pick for the diversity of combos.

There are special attacks which is basically assistances from two allied characters, McCoy the sniper dog and Rondel the demolition bear. You also get to control the special attacks like blowing up a group of enemies or sniping individual targets from far distance.

This game is easy to pick up and very fun in co-op mode unfortunately co-op is only available for local gameplay.

Fox the combo master.

Can the fox outwit the giant snake?

It's a "This Week Only" deal, so it might last through tomorrow, maybe through the weekend.
Awesome, I clicked on the 2k button when I was on their site but saw about half the games and nothing about Spec Ops The line.

I'm disappointed that Pirates! isn't steam... and I own all the cheap games. Mafia II, DNF, X-Com: The Bureau, and Darkness are the only reasonably priced games I don't own.

Not sure which to snag... If any. (I've played and finished both Mafia II and The Line on the 360... I would love to get them both for the PC but not sure if this is the price I want them at.)

Oh! Another game for the wish list... Thanks! :D

Don't the X-COM and Ace Patrol games count towards a free Spec Ops? That would be $1 or close.

Sign up for Tropico 5 Beta here.
Is it just me or is Tropico turning into a sports or pew-pew franchise? I have four Tropico games and I have played none of them. It seems like every time I pick up a cheap Tropico game, they've announced the next iteration in the series. Also it appears that from 3 forward, they're all basically the same game.

Also, is it just me or does the guy on the Darkness II cover look like he's on the john?

I second this... I've done the order-parts-from-all-over-the-countryside before... PITA... I'm willing to pay little more just to have the key stuff arrive together (MB/CPU/RAM). I usually pick-up/clear-out a case and PSU (SeaSonic or GTFO) ahead of time. HDD/SSD I'll sometimes pick up ahead of time/separately. Usually GPU separately. My window for building a new PC is often fairly small, so I appreciate getting everything in a timely matter (and assembled/tested before the first return-policy expires.

It's mostly about the B1G-Spec Ops free. Spec Ops is a nice tight game/experience.

I'm not an FPS fan, but I really liked The Darkness II (much more than I was expecting). The story elements are very well fleshed out.

No kidding... not quite annual, but since #3/4 it's got the sports-game-refresh thing going.

Yeah, but it's actually a small classy sitting-room/classic desk chair.

Kalypso does tend to do a lot of the same thing just slightly different over and over.

That said, I put a fair amount of hours in Tropico 4 and I found it to be one of the better modern Sim City type games with a tongue in cheek Latin American dictator spin.

They're good for what they are and can be had on the cheap so I don't think it matters which one you dive in on really.
