Indie* bundle threads: (*Not always indie, nor always a bundle.)

Free stuff:
There are quite a few free games (mostly Free to Play) and mods available via the Steam platform, a comprehensive list of which can be found in this thread on the SPUF.
(NOTE: free games are not permanently attached to your Steam account like actual purchases would be. You'll need to manually download a game again from the website if you uninstall it.)

Is it just me or is Tropico turning into a sports or pew-pew franchise? I have four Tropico games and I have played none of them. It seems like every time I pick up a cheap Tropico game, they've announced the next iteration in the series. Also it appears that from 3 forward, they're all basically the same game.

Also, is it just me or does the guy on the Darkness II cover look like he's on the john?
Most city building games get remakes every few years, remember the period of tycoon games frenzy? Tropico 4 is very similar to 3, but the Modern Times DLC added new missions and buildings to the game.

GameTap has Civilization 5: Brave New World for $7.49 (75% off) for those that didn't beat the $15 tier during the Humble Sid Meier Bundle.

For those who did:

Deal ends March 3rd.

Edit: They changed it to 50%, price went up to $14.97.  Direct link no longer shows the discount, go through the Bromance Week sale page here.

I find this ironic, since you use fuschia all the time for your text!
Bold is not a color nub

Edit: I'm also suspecting that your monitor colors are poorly calibrated. (Probably veering toward blown-out saturation that's all too common.)

I think they may have overestimated how long it'll take them to get greenlit..

This game is on sale!
All purchases are 100% off until 12/30/2014

Yeah.. it'll be greenlit long before then, which will present an awkward situation of the drm-free version being free at the same time as the steam release. I guess they can always change it though.

It came from space and ate the developer's brain first, that explains it.

WTF until 12/30... that's such a stupid and arbitrary date... December has 31 days moran.

NZA 2 metacritic is really low. Can't see the mc site now (don't know why, but it comes wrong in mobile right now), but it is maybe because is very similar to part 1. It is any fun playing solo? There are lobbies or you need to invite friends? Never played any NZA game...

Apparently the Shadowrun 1.2 update adds save-anywhere functionality /phew

From my KS-email

Shadowrun: Dragonfall. Trailer

In addition, we have updated Shadowrun Returns to version 1.2, and added the ability to save your game at any time (and in any story, including Dead Man’s Switch AND User-Generated Content).

It’s hard to believe that one of our Kickstarter stretch goals has grown into such a major release for our little studio. Dragonfall is actually much bigger than our original campaign - some completionist-type folks are reporting as much as 18 hours long!

Beyond the new campaign, city, characters, equipment, portraits, enemies, save functionality, and editor features, you’ll find lots of small improvements in the game. We really went all out for this expansion and we hope you like it as much as we do.

I only have played the first. It can be fun playing solo but is much better with groups. I think you can play with random people or invite friends. I think most of the animosity at NZA 2 was that it came out so soon after the last and didn't change much.

My impressions of NZA:

The sniping mechanics are enjoyable, since it is copied from Sniper: Elite 2. The story of the first one was SyFy originals quality; i.e. leave your brain at the door. The level design was pretty terrible, IMO. Why have us roaming tiny corridors when it's a game about sniping? With three friends I had a good time, but I would never play it single-player. I believe the co-op was invite oriented, but they may have changed that for the second (although I doubt it...) For the $3, it's a fun evening/weekend but don't expect a lot of replay value.

I don't think it's been cheaper on Steam but it was $10 on Namco's own site recently. Drabes and I went halfsies on it (you had to buy two to get 75% off).

I'm not familiar with the Anime at all other just just having heard of it in passing but I'm surprised by how much I like it. There's fighting of course but there's a long story campaign with a lot of Anime scenes. There's also some free form wandering at times that plays sort of like an RPG or Adventure game where you run around, talk to people, do quests, find hidden objects etc.

Fighting stuff I usually suck at but it has a practice mode which helped me loads. There's also online multiplayer and what not but I haven't messed with any of that yet.

Anyhow, I was on the fence for getting it even at $10 but I'm glad I got it. I'm not so weeaboo anymore but it was a pleasant surprise for me.

PSA

The Mighty Quest For Epic Loot (upcoming F2P title) hit open Beta.
Highly recommend The Mighty Quest if you're looking for a fun little ARPG with a Dungeon-Keeper twist. Half the time you're exploring other castles (usually player-made) for better loot n' money and the other half you're building up your own castle with monsters and traps to kill other players. It's been around for a while, but they just opened the doors to everybody on Steam, so you don't need to buy anything to get in. Real money is mainly used only for cosmetic items and boosts.

Worth the download!
