This thread will maintain a list of all current and upcoming sales and markdowns on the Xbox Live Marketplace / Xbox Games Store for the USA.  YMMV in other regions.  If non-US sales are listed, they will be marked with their applicable region(s).

Please note:

  • You cannot currently buy any Xbox 360 content on xbox.com using your account balance, you can only use an active credit card or PayPal. To use your balance, you must make purchases on your console.  Unfortunately, even "purchasing" free content through the web site like trials requires an alternative method of payment tied to your account, though adding an empty MasterCard / Visa gift card that is registered for online purchases will work.  Xbox One games can be purchased on the web site with your account balance, but DLC cannot.
  • Some sales are intended for Gold subscribers only, as noted within each section.  This requires being a paid subscriber or within a console-activated "1 month complimentary Gold trial" account.  Neither 48 hour trials, 14 day trials nor free weekends qualify.
  • All known sales and information on sales should make their way into the OP. Major Nelson usually updates his blog with new sales information every other Tuesday.
  • ALL OFFERS ARE SUBJECT TO CHANGE! No information within this thread can or should be construed as accurate (or still valid), therefore ...
  • Always verify Xbox Live Marketplace prices before your purchase!
  • Spend wisely, have fun, and enjoy!

Peggle 2 comes out for the 360 on May 7th. One less reason to own an Xbox One now.  :)

Now they need to announce Plants vs Zombies 2.

My first thought was: Why is Dark Souls not on sale this week? My second thought: Damn, this is crappy! I own everything except Bang Bang and Castlevaia and I am not touching either. My third thought: Dark Soul will be on sale again next week!

These sales have been pretty intense. I am sure there is an idiot out there that is about to pay full price for an XBLA title.....don't do it. I just hope that I am not that idiot!
I don't know why people think they should put out a previous iteration on sale just a week before the new game comes out.

The best they could hope for is that they hook them on the previous game and then wait for them to beat it to buy the second one.

The worst they could do is allow them to buy a cheap previous version of the game and not like it especially after they have to replace their controller from throwing it against the wall). Then not even tempting the sheeple to buy into the hype of a new game for $60 as there will be plenty that semi blind buy it due to hype.

Maybe I should've put a smiley face in there somewhere to indicate that I was being sarcastic. Let me remedy that: ;) ;) ;)

Dark Souls has been on sale for $5 three times recently. On 12/1 , 1/20 & 2/22. I was only half joking when I said I expect it to be on sale next week, it very well may be.......

"Team Ninja is also pleased to announce that a new fighter to the Dead or Alive 5 Ultimate roster, Marie Rose, will be available for purchase and that the fan favorite Lorelei stage will be available for free beginning March 25, 2014, via the PlayStation Store for the PlayStation 3 and March 26 via the Microsoft Games Store for Xbox 360"

Well, I'm happy to get that gothic lolita for free  Seems that those guys at Team Ninja only want to get all our money with DLC costumes, but not with extra characters. It's something

edit: WAIT, for free will be the Lorelei stage AND Marie Rose? for what I can read it seems that only the former. Damn you, Team Ninja.

yeah they said it features up to 5x more thugs on screen at any given time, and the world is 5x bigger than arkham city. Don't think 360/ps3 could handle it.
Yeah. Cause now the game takes place in an open world Gotham.

Chills just thinkin about it.

Pretty sure there's a charge for Marie Rose. The trailer shows 5 DLC costumes for her and says the "best value" is buying the character + costume bundle.

Damn that trailer looks sick.

Havn't played through Arkham City yet but man does that trailer make me want to finish the game!

I know I'm a bit late here but are any of these kinect 1.99 mini games worth it?
They are really just bite size versions of the games that are in the Kinect Sports series. I thoroughly enjoyed the boxing and bowling in Kinect Sports, they are great party games and boxing is brilliant for a quick short workout. I'm not sure if you get all the extra modes with the mini game versions but the main versions are fun enough to warrant a couple of bucks purchase if you're swimming in credit. I would however just tell you to try to find the Kinect Sports bundle or buy them individually for a few dollars. The only thing that isn't included on the disc, from what I recall is the basketball which was DLC for Kinect Sports 2. I never bought that DLC so I can't comment is basketball was any good or not. Out of all the on disc sports I definitely felt that Soccer/Football and Football/Gridiron were the two let downs.

Basically the Kinect Sports series was probably the best series after Dance Central for the Kinect so you really can't go wrong, just think you'd get more bang for your buck finding the games on disc especially with all the price cuts on 360 stuff now that the XBone is out.

Um, GTA V . . . Watch Dogs . . . Assassin's Creed: Black Flag . . . Far Cry 3 . . . Bioshock Infinite . . . Skyrim

I actually always felt that the map for Arkham City was fairly small in comparison to a lot of other open-world games. Though I did kind of like that as there wasn't much to do other than beat up some baddies and collect some riddler stuff. I prefer the tighter smaller world of Arkham Asylum and worry about this franchise going bigger and thinking that that means better. Hopefully they can prove me wrong.

But I do think Rocksteady could get heaps more out of the 360/PS3. But I think the optimization and work to rein in some of their ideas so that it ran smoothly would have been a challenge they didn't want to bother with. It still uses Unreal Engine 3 rather than 4 and it's a shame some sort of last-gen version isn't in development. Oh well, I suppose this means that when I do finally either get a current-gen console or a decent PC in a few years that this will be a cheapie game I can pick up.

take a chill pill Spicoli! The deals are on the front page, what else do you want we cant just talk about vidia games?

skonson-im not going to get a new system for at least another year and a half, but I am super glad batman is 'next gen' only. just think of it as the resources that wouldve gone into making it compatible for tons of devices can now go into more polish for the systems that are designed to handle it. I loooooove my 360, but shits almost a decade old now, they gotta move on from the hardware at some point.

gonna buy galaga and castlevania, havent played on since symphony of the night.

You gotta say something to back up your claims. Games like Assassin's Creed, which has continuously grown with each iteration or GTA V proves a big world is still possible. Unless Rocksteady plans to create a world bigger than GTA or Skyrim, I can't see why it would be a problem. Adding 5x as many thugs would basically mean there's 15-ish thugs at once, something AC games have managed to do quite well.

I have Batman AC, and while it's good, the open world aspect is kinda boring. It feels like they made the world bigger and had no idea what to do so they threw in some enemies here and there and collectibles to make the world interesting. That's probably one of the biggest reasons I have not been able to finish the game yet, but I really am trying to because I could use that 8GB on my hard-drive.

I'm just like you, I don't have a PS4 yet and don't see one in my near future, but I was super excited to see the new Batman be new gen only. No need to dedicate resources to inferior PS3/360 versions, even if those version were made I'd still wait and get it on new gen anyway.

Anybody have any recommendations for places to buy Xbox Microsoft Gift Cards?  I see that Amazon is currently selling a $50 Gift Card for $47.99, and the Target Red Card would make the same value cost $47.50 in-store.  Are there any better deals out there at the moment?  Thank you in advance.  :)

I usually check the trading forum. I got a $20 card for $16.

Damn! My live just expired on February 28th. Oh well, have to wait a bit to renew. Stupid Civ Revolution.....grumble grumble.....

Has Mirror of Fate ever been on sale or at least a better sale than this?  I really liked the demo and would like to keep up with the LoS storyline... but $7.50 still seems kinda steep to me...

I've always found best prices at CrazyGameTime.com . They are legit, I always get my codes in the mail within a few minutes. Only thing that can happen is they can go out of stock from time to time.

EDIT: Looks like they are out of stock on most cards right now, sorry.

It was the same price before as said above. What's worst is the trade in value on Amazon and GS is really low for the 3DS version, so looks like I'm stuck with the "inferior" 3DS versions till the game hits $3 or so lol.

I decided to try I Am Alive's trial again and I finished it compared to last time when I played a year or two ago. The game looks nice to set the mood for the "apocalypse not cased by zombies" setting. But that's also a flaw.

There was a time where I wouldn't know that I can climb up a ramp to advance because it blends so well with the background. This guy told me not to mess with him and the hard to read map lead me to believe I had to get around him somehow. The limited continues (or "retries")  and the lack of ammo/weapons didn't help and I got frustrated fast.

So I thought I was safe, but I'm renewing my Gold, picking up I Am Live [with limited weapons] for $3.74, and downloading Civilization Revolution to play for the first time. My hard drive with 6 GBs left must hate me.

I Am Alive for that price is worth it, also getting Civ Rev with Gold membership is a steal. I played that game 4 hours the other night, the end game was skirmish after skirmish of fighter jets lol.

Just finally got around to booting up Ridge Racer Unbounded from the sale the other week. What a great game! Thanks for the recommendation in buying it (can't remember who it was). It's good too to have a great racer be able to sit on the HD and only take up 1.6 GB. I'm loving the fact that there's no stupid voiceover on it whereas the voice work in Burnout Paradise drives me batty. I am finding it very challenging though as it's one of those racers where if you make a single mistake you should basically just restart from the top. But I suppose that's more like real life anyways. But I think I had to replay the first race about 4 times before I made a 3rd place finish. It's certainly not a racer that holds you by the hand. And it perfectly balances arcade and real racing better than most games that straddle that line do.

Also it looks like Guacamelee: Super Turbo Championship Edition is coming to the XBone and the Xbox 360. It's not often that PS3 exclusives migrate to the 360, usually it's the other way. And it comes with all the DLC bundled in. Can't wait for a sale on this puppy!

It's not really a PS3 exclusive when it's also out on Vita and PC.
Okay, sort of a silly point of contention on your part. Guacamelee! started out as PS3/Vita exclusive back in at the start of last year and then got ported to the PC sometime in the summer and now has a Mac/Linux version too as it was humble bundled the other week, but at one point in its lifetime it was a Sony exclusive. My sincerest apologies for not remembering that it was a crossplay/save/buy game for the Vita too, but I blame the uselessly and needlessly expensive door stopper brick of Vita for that - sorry to be harsh but it just turned 2 years old which in console years means it's bar mitzvahed and able to take it like a man and realize that its existence as a $300 console that has a couple of decent exclusives and otherwise only plays games that I'd more happily play at home on a large TV is completely unneccessary.

Anyways, while it's a bit more commonplace for PS exclusives to get ported to PC these days (Pixeljunk stuff for example) it's extremely rare for PS exclusives to migrate to an Xbox (though not too rare the other way around) and hence worth noting. Especially as this was one of the highest rated downloadable games that ever came to the PS3/Vita.

Skonson you're 100% right about Guacamelee and 100% wrong about Vita.  Anyone who frequents this thread and enjoys a wide array of XBLA games would LOVE a Vita.  It also only costs $200 for a console, Borderlands 2, and an 8GB memory card.  #20v1t4

There's no need for snark. It's a great game and I'm glad that more people get to play it. I don't really consider it to be a big surprise since indies are usually all for getting their games on as many platforms as possible to reach as big of an audience as possible.

I think the thing that causes the one-way street of porting is that for the longest time, indies couldn't self-publish on Xbox 360 and maybe they still can't since I haven't seen a confirmation either way after the ID@Xbox announcement, so they probably aren't that keen on going through the hassle of signing up with a publisher to either give up a cut of their earnings or risk signing with a publisher that'll die or be an asshole to complicate the whole thing.

That said, it's nice to see more XBLA games get announced for Xbox One since the landscape for that is kind of barren at the moment because of how late ID@Xbox came together and even then, those in the program aren't really talking about or announcement games for it yet.

I was all about waiting for Guacamelee for 360, until It showed up on the humble bundle last week.  Sure it isn't the "super duper" edition, but I'm fine with that.
