This thread will maintain a list of all current and upcoming sales and markdowns on the Xbox Live Marketplace / Xbox Games Store for the USA.  YMMV in other regions.  If non-US sales are listed, they will be marked with their applicable region(s).

Please note:

  • You cannot currently buy any Xbox 360 content on xbox.com using your account balance, you can only use an active credit card or PayPal. To use your balance, you must make purchases on your console.  Unfortunately, even "purchasing" free content through the web site like trials requires an alternative method of payment tied to your account, though adding an empty MasterCard / Visa gift card that is registered for online purchases will work.  Xbox One games can be purchased on the web site with your account balance, but DLC cannot.
  • Some sales are intended for Gold subscribers only, as noted within each section.  This requires being a paid subscriber or within a console-activated "1 month complimentary Gold trial" account.  Neither 48 hour trials, 14 day trials nor free weekends qualify.
  • All known sales and information on sales should make their way into the OP. Major Nelson usually updates his blog with new sales information every other Tuesday.
  • ALL OFFERS ARE SUBJECT TO CHANGE! No information within this thread can or should be construed as accurate (or still valid), therefore ...
  • Always verify Xbox Live Marketplace prices before your purchase!
  • Spend wisely, have fun, and enjoy!

Remember Me was definitely solid in my opinion. The combat system was somewhat repetitive, but it worked, and the fact you could build your own combos (though in a very limited way) made it interesting. My main gripe with the game was that it's linear, but the graphics, the music, the atmosphere, the ideas of changing memories and stuff made it very memorable. Yeah, some boss fights were a bit annoying, and also when you meet some kind of new enemy, that can occasionally lead to a bit of frustration while you figure out the best strategy to eliminate it. But I really enjoyed the game because it's a unique ride of style and ideas, if this was placed in a generic war-setting with muscle guy number 2348924 and no story of relevance, the gameplay would have made me give it 6 out of 10 at best, but I lived in a unique world while I was playing the game. I'd take 10 Remember Me games rather than having to blast through another identical Gears Of War, to be honest. Though I would have loved to have an open-world, much more ambitious Remember Me, it's a great game that should not be missed imho, especially since it can be found at a pretty low price now.

I hate this, I hate this stupid fucking trend and wish it would die off. I now just stand still and wait for the exposition to stop whenever this happens.

Did Gears of War pioneer this bullshit or was there an earlier game?

I Think the slow walking, while talking on an earpiece thing for the sake of exposition was started in Gears because I can't think of any other game that did that before them. Like before that I think the closest thing similar to that is Metal Gear Solid and getting codec calls.

Even than Remember Me would've been alot more enjoyable of Cole Train randomly bursts through walls and started chainsawing people left and right. Then again I can say that about nearly any game, man, Tiger Woods golf would be so fucking sweet.

Yeah it's usually to control the story so nothing interrupts the main character either talking or getting instructions/exposition in their ear. The funny part of it though is that It's also in Mass Effect, here we have a futuristic setting but people still put their god damn finger up to their ear when talking to NPCs during a cutscene. :wall:

So, I bought a 14 day GOLD trial to get Civilization Revolution, it doesnt work. Then I try to buy Castlevania: Lords of Shadow - Mirror of Fate HD at $7.5, and it doesnt work, damn you Microsoft, I hate you.

Is this behavior correct? Only use is for playing online?

Sounds like the GS guy who sold me PvZ 360 and said that it requires 6GB of HDD space to play. (the case says the same)

I have no clue how that figures since it didn't do any sort of install and only had an 18mb title update.
Have you tried playing it with less then 6 GB on your hard drive?

Yep. To get Gold only sales or GWG, you have to have at least a 1 month code. Trials don't work.

Yeah, that's all the trials are good for. It's in the OP, but it's pretty easy to miss.

I loved the PSP because of all the homebrew stuff you could do with it. I was angry when they got rid of that. And no, for the record I never pirated anything, in fact I had a huge PSP library, I just liked being able to play old nintendo/genesis/arcade games on a portable system. That was the big selling point for me.
We bought a DSi for my wife mainly so she could play the Prof. Layton games. She blew through them all, and I was left with a handheld I didn't really like games library for. So I ended up buying an Acekard for it and sure enough, a good 80% of the time (or more) the DSi is used, it's to play NES roms (and a few Genesis as well I guess). I never really pirated anything because..... I wasn't too into the DS games library as I said, and a lot of the first-party titles my kids own already for their DS's anyways (Mario Kart, etc).

I *cannot* begin to tell you how awesome it is to play Tecmo Super Bowl and NHL 94 on a portable DS system though. Ultimately, the DS has very little game life for its own titles, very little replay value. But when you can get *good* emus and play the old games that have already withstood the test of time for you... had it not been for that, the DS would probably already be gone and would have ended up being a bad purchase.

And funnily enough, I also found some good homebrew, a few games that I really like a lot and still play with that too.

So I can't imagine a handheld that can't do emus anymore.

Halo 3 and MGR do it too. There are a few games on 360 that do it, but I dont remember all of them.

A sort-of related question - I haven't had Gold for a while but decided to redeem a 3 month code today so I can play Civ Revolution. I thought I remembered the code activating instantly but the game is still not free after an hour and signing out/back in.

Suggestions? Does activation take a while to update?

Have you tried it from both the console and the webpage? Sometimes it works one place and not the other, because: Microsoft.

Go to your console settings and clear your system cache, this happens sometimes

Funny that you mentioned this, I HATE this in a game. I've been really on the fence about adding remmember me to the backlog but am trying to get ready for next/current gen so I'm going to skip it, thanks for all the opinions! The story sounds really interesting but I can't slog through 6+ Hours just to hear it.

Playing through mafia 2 right now it's pretty good but the crashing bugs are pretty annoying

It should activate right away. I redeemed a one month code on the console and was able dl Civ Rev right away.

Thanks everyone. I was hoping to get everything ready to go from xbox.com as I have done in the past so I could just download as soon as I got home tonight. I will see what happens using the console instead once my work day is over.

Wow primis, to each their own but I truly dont understand your tastes if you make comments like that about the DS library. It has one of the best catalogs of games for any system and without a doubt the best for a handheld. Part of the reason why its the second best selling system of all time.

it works fine, honestly the full game is under 2.5 gigs, and you don't even need to install it if you purchase the disk, I am currently sitting at ~25 MB, My guess, is they are leaving room for future patches and updates, first one is this weekend, its going down for maintenance.

I totally agree. I don't know what he's describing, but it's not the DS.

No, the reason it sells is because it's basically the only platform to get Pokemon games on, and Pokemon fan-people will buy the DS/3DS solely for that (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_best-selling_Nintendo_DS_video_games). If those were available on other platforms, Nintendo's handheld sales would suffer greatly. There are other good series' and games, but.... they are few and far between in the vast wasteland of awful ports and poorly-conceived games revolving around some movie or TV show license targeting much younger audiences.

One thing Nintendo DID get right with it is the Download Play multiplayer. Like so many neat features they implement though (hi there, Wii U Off-TV Play), it's rarely actually used by developers so... it's almost irrelevant.

I Think the only game that ever did the talk on a headset while slowly walking right or non annoying was No More Heroes on the Wii. Simply because you knew when it was going to happen (right before every boss fight) and treating the Wii-mote like a phone was pretty fucking awesome.

Wow primis, to each their own but I truly dont understand your tastes if you make comments like that about the DS library. It has one of the best catalogs of games for any system and without a doubt the best for a handheld. Part of the reason why its the second best selling system of all time.
Exactly. If you can't find games you like on the DS then you have an extremely weird taste in games. Every genre is pretty much represented and there are plenty of AAA titles out there. The Castlevanias and the Mario RPGs are my personal favorites, but there are MANY other quality titles.

This is all I can think about today. There are some games that I think do it, but I'm not 100% sure such GTA and COD. It is a lot more common than I originally was thinking.
Wolverine origins also does that, but not too much, fortunately.

BTW, all this talk about Remember me, though stating that is a mediacre game, has made me want to actually play it. So I bought it (for cheap) this afternoon. Well, that and Killer is dead + DLC (apparently it isn't too good either).

Killer is Dead has sweet, sweet digital boobies though! Also when I got it for $20 it came with artbook and all the extras so I can admire those digital boobs in book form. Gameplay wise? Er...um, did I mention digital boobies?

Hahaha, yeah, I also got it for the digital boobies O:) Got the limited edition (the only available around here), which comes with the DLC. The artbook was in another, bigger edition, so I won't be able to enjoy it =P~

Just to add another one, Prototype 2. But that game had all kinds of problems.

I've been enjoying Remember Me quite a bit as I'm working my way through it. It's not a great game, but the story, characters, and combat system are good enough to put it in the camp of games like Enslaved, Asura's Wrath, and Heavenly Sword for under-appreciated action games.

Shooters and racing games are pretty much non-existent in good quantities with Mario Kart being the exception, as that stuff went over to the PSP in full force.

TIL there are people who didn't like DS. Since no one has seemed to ask, exactly what kind of games were you looking for on it? It has easily one of the best libraries of any system. I will say that you often had to go out of your way to learn about those games since most games sites cover multiplatform console titles. If it wasn't for Nintendo Power and EGM, I would've missed out on a ton of fantastic games like Hotel Dusk and Elite Beat Agents.

Dementium 1 & 2, Moon, Metroid Hunters are some amazing shooters for the DS. You got me on racers though.

And sports games. But I still loved the DS' library of games.

I loved Enslaved, Asura's Wrath was OK. Wouldn't mind to play Heavenly Sword, but I don't own a PS3, so I won't do it.

Yeah loved Metroid Hunters but yeah the DS was a companion system as I played shooters and racers on my Xbox 360 most likely.

I especially loved my DS library:

1. Children of Mana

2. Chrono Trigger

3. Civilization Revolution

4. Club House Games, played for many many days

5. Feel the Magic

6. Final Fantasy III

7. Final Fantasy IV

8. Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars

9. Mario Kart DS

10. Mario & Luigi: Bowser’s Inside Story

11. Meteos

12. Metroid Pinball

13. Metroid Prime Hunters

14. New Super Mario Bros.

15. Ninja Gaiden: Dragon Sword

16. Starfox Command, sold that lol

17. Super Mario 64 DS

18. Tetris DS

19. The World Ends With You

20. Tony Hawk’s American Sk8land

21. Zelda: Phantom Hourglass

22. Zelda: Spirit Tracks

Oh God I wanted to enjoy that game, but the motion controls the fucking motion controls!!! Tossing the hat to hit two gong's was the straw that killed the camel for me in that game. If it wasn't for that shit along with the guide the cannonballs to hit the ill planned enemy catapults that they put giant bullseyes on, I would've enjoyed that game.

Everyone is talking about the DS and no one mentions Professor Layton?!!

If we're going to derail this thread, can we pick a more interesting topic than "the ds has a weak library." Don't get me wrong, I liked Tecmo and NHL 94, but that statement seems so narrowminded to not even be worth arguing.

Yeah - game discussion when it's at least relevant to the 360 is fine, but there's now 2 pages of fucking DS posts. Thee's a DS board here:

Please use it if you feel the need.

the past few weeks the sale have been lame for xbl ... cmon now >.< i got like 50$ on my account i wanna buy something good!

I'm surprised no one mentioned those great Castlevania titles for DS. Enjoyed them all, unlike these crappy LoS games we get nowadays.

If a chicken from New York went to a zoo and saw a duck that once ate a cookie made by a guy in Japan that had a uncle that only brushed his teeth on weekends because on a Monday he was attacked by teeth bandits that stole his tooth and brought it to a small town in France that had 100 citizens that woke up everyday at 5 A.M. to see the sun rise, how many ice cream cones did that chicken eat last night?
