Really? I'm totally on the other side of the fence and I'm digging it - at least so far.

I really like the whole playing as Haytham Kenway bit, who actually is Connor's father (I liked his actual character more than Connor, at least so far) + who actually is a Templar; then he meets up w/ Kani (I ain't gonna write her whole name out, it's too long and I can't remember it) who winds-up being Connor's mother; and then you play as their son, Connor - who witnesses the wiping-out of his village & his mother's death; and Connor is chasing after General Lee + Haytham.

For me, gameplay-wise - AC:R was the disappointment to me being a lot "more of the same" and half-baked ideas (defense-tower missions + Portal puzzle-like area), not AC3. AC series just has not disappointed me ever, story-wise - at least so far, anyways.

Character-wise, another story entirely in AC3 - not super-fond of Connor & Desmond.

I don't think I'll ever be fond of Desmond, though.
I just played AC3 last month and I enjoyed it much more than I was expecting to. Even though looking at the metacritic score the game did okay, the buzz seemed to be that it was a mess. It's amazing all of the scope that they were able to cram into this game. I'm still impressed every time I go into the frontier, they managed to make the woods believable and yet functional for free running through the trees. The naval battles could have been a game themselves. And I really enjoyed the setting. The main weakness is the story, narrative and presentation though, Connor's voice acting seems out of place, and the actual storyline is a mess. They really should have just cut the Desmond segments. It seems like they did try to take on too much because there was a lack of polish in the main missions and I encountered some glitches.

Gunpoint - $9.99 $4.99

Papers, Please - $9.99 $4.99
Damn.. I bought Gunpoint for 33% off, the day after it was 66% during the winter sale.

I've been also meaning to pick up Papers, Please and $4.99 is the lowest pricepoint for it.

Should I wait until the summer steam sale ? I've never checked out the summer steam sales, so I have no idea if they're any better than the winter. Insight anyone ?

i don't know that i'd say if either is necessarily "better." what i do know is that the longer you wait, the higher the discount will be. Papers, Please WILL get to be 66-75% off by the summer sale, I'm willing to bet. It may even be included in a humble bundle by then. Really, with any video game it comes down to

1) Am I willing to pay X amount for this game?

If yes, then...

2) Am I likely to play this game before it either drops in price or gets bundled?

If yes, then go ahead and buy it.

I did read a 1961 paperback printing of On the Beach in '93... It was literally falling apart on me, the pages came off as I turned them. (Oddly fitting for a book covering the final year of life of some Aussies after Nuclear War ravaged the Northern Hemisphere and the fallout was spreading south. It covered how people chose to live their final months and face the end.) I'd highly recommend it. It's a powerful and moving book.
The movie is good too. Either will make you deeply sad. I can't watch the part with the kids. Tears me up. Same with the scene in Downfall. Painful.

Don't know if its been posted yet, but..

Corporate Lifestyle Simulator Steam keys are up on Groupees (Build a Bundle 4). Game was formerly known as Zombies.

I'm certainly enjoying the game - more than expected also, given the backlash. But, yeah - I'm digging the game-play, main missions, and especially BOSTON! :D

I like the story's premise of....

...Connor wanting to get revenge on General Lee for wiping-out his family + village; and Connor becomes an Assassin that is going after his dad (who is a Templar). That's fine.

Though, one thing began bugging me - why is Connor involved in every single major Boston event? ;)

Boston Tea Party, Bunker Hill, Breed's Hill, Paul Revere's Ride, Battle of Lexington & Concord - just for starters here.

As cool as this is on one-hand b/c he's involved w/ some major historical events (and these are local ones, since I'm not too far from Boston), it's also plain ludicrous on another hand that he'd be involved in EVERY major event like he is! ;)

But, yeah - I ain't too much of a fan of Connor, either. He seems always on his one-track mind of getting revenge and chasing after those doing wrong. I prefer Ezio, honestly.

I found myself answering no to both questions. I shall wait !

Just got two of this:

25% off on the title Pixel Piracy.
Can't be applied with other discounts.

What's up with these shitty coupons.

It's -33% without coupon already.

Mercenary Kings will have its real-boy operation on March 25th. I thought they might have a sale to celebrate the release, but instead they'll keep it at the same early access price for a week and then raise it by $5. Boo!

If they would've put like, one good, previously unbundled game in there, it would boost the sales drastically. A lot of "hardcore" indie video game fans would probably like to donate to this specific cause, but 25 bucks is a pretty steep price for a whole lot of "meh."

Going to be hard to find a dev who hasn't bundlewhored his game out and convince them to give it away because charity.

They're trying to make -33% off look like a good deal.
Was also $7.99 in the Humble Bundle store last week.

I managed to snag a key during the producer's giveaway on Twitter.

It's alright.. It's very buggy. Definitely not worth any of the pricepoints I've seen it going for.

If anyone really wants that game, I suggest following the Curse Gamepedia twitter account and Alex Poysky's.

They've dropped over 20 keys now, and continue to do so. (Ever since the Gamepedia giveaway)

I have an external HDD full of steam games backups. And I'd rather re-download them, because the patches.
If a game is really big - I think it's definitely best I back it up somewhere and just reinstall from that back-up if need be.

(Games like RAGE come to mind - i.e. over 23 GB in size).

Then let Steam do the updating and cache checking.

About re-downloads, I hate doing them - unless the file size is small.

Nice avatar. Which 11-year-old from Babymetal is that?
Yuimetal, I believe. And she's 14 now.

XCOM:EW @75%!!! nice one

I finished the main game some weeks ago and uninstalled it thinking EW will hit 75% by summer Sale. I'll have to download it all again!!
Gah, same here. Buying it, reinstalling it, and playing it right away though. :D

Never played it.

Is it any good?

EDIT:

How come Summoner 2 was not released on the PC?
Fable 2, meet Summoner 2, MysterD's new "Why wasn't it released on PC?" fetish.

I used to backup them, but my "backup disk" is full. I need a new one.

I don't use to uninstall games so often, just when finished or if I don't like it or don't mean to play it anytime soon and need some space.

I loved Summoner and probably even moreso the sequel. Interesting story with a large cast of characters and various areas to wander through. The second game turned the mythology of the first game on its head and I like where they went with it. It had some scenes where you acted as ruler to various people that would petition you with requests and then later on you'd see the result of those choice. Felt like they could have done more with that aspect but it was a nice change. Nice game overall though.

I think both were some of the better story based RPGs for the time and I consider them underrated gems personally.

*ETA: If you really want to play the second game there are always emulators.

If anyone has picked this up yet... Can you tell me rather or not you can still just play the base game? Enemy Unknown is one of the biggest shames in my backlog and I would like to enjoy it before starting EW.
I don't see the real point to playing EU before EW, considering EW adds tons of stuff to the base game. Unless you really want to play tons of XCOM, and would rather play through EU, then play it again with EW to have fun discovering new things on your second playthrough.

I was about 80% through the base game, now I just got EW and I'm gonna start over.

Ugggh...finally done my paper. It's a little too late to start playing Dark Souls though...I'd be up all night. Looks like I'll be heavily distracted at work tomorrow until I get home.

Oh my god, Summoner is on Steam!

http://youtu.be/zng5kRle4FA
Waitaminute.

Volition made that game? The Punisher, Red Faction, Saints Row Volition?

Just how many damn genres did they experiment with? Incidentally, I stumbled upon the PS2 version of the sequel a month ago. I didn't even realize it was by them. Too bad there was never a PC version.

Gear Grinder is now on Steam. It was previously in Indie Gala 3.

Anyone wanna start a shitstorm for keys?
IT HAS BEGUN.

People should realize that IG doesn't care about updating with Steam keys after they've finished a bundle. How long ago was that, anyway? 2012 or earlier? Yeah, we're never getting keys for that. Not that it even looks that good; a koala with four asses would be more enjoyable.

Oooh! Where might I find such a koala??

There actually a really, really talented studio, and I too had forgotten they made this one... (And this is a PC thread so how you could forget to mention Freespace is nearly inconceivable.)

I've read that EW can make the gamer easier... Granted, that was preview coverage I think... (It was a long time ago either way.)
