PlayStation 4 - General Discussion Thread

Even if Titanfall 2 comes to the PS4 it will always be more synonymous with MS and the X1. Sort of like Mass Effect and Bioshock, but I still think they will try and lock up the franchise. They have the money to do so.

if they do, they better drop the price unless they plan to have a single player mode. i am not talking about campaign, but an offline mode that allows you to play locally against other players.

I don't know, I think you're wrong about your first thought. I don't think anyone right now thinks MS/Xbox when someone mentions Mass Effect, even less so with Bioshock. In fact, I bet most don't even remember/don't even know the first Bioshock game was exclusive for a short time.

If anything I'd wager most would think of either EA or 2K, respectively, before they'd think about MS.

As for your other point, they very well could if they really wanted. However, I think that EA may be more hesitant to do such a thing if the sales comparisons between the two systems keep up their current pace. If anything it would make more sense for MS to go after Respawn, but I think they've already stated that they want to do the whole multi-platform thing.

titanfall will outsell infamous if you include 360 and pc sales. id hope a game on 3 platforms can outsell a game on 1 platform. if its just x1 titanfall compared to infamous ps4, id say infamous given the install base is, what, 2 million more?

I agree with you. Infamous Second Son will sell more than TitanFall for XboxOne. I wonder if Microsoft will release the numbers? Didn't Sony announce that Infamous preorder numbers were greater then The Last of Us had?

The screenshots from this game are impressive.

Infamous sure looks like it'll be a graphic powerhouse, the only thing I'm not liking so far in terms of visuals is the HUD.

Valid reply, but if Titanfall turns out to be a huge success MS will dump truckloads of cash to keep it exclusive. Remember, this is a company that spent $400 million to partner with the NFL.

Sony exclusives dont typically sell as well as MS ones, but that huge install base lead will be hard for Titanfall to over come if we're just going by X1 numbers.

I don't think it's paying for the movie side of things so much as it is for the original content. At least, that's the way it is for me.

hbo has things other then movies? hbo original stuff is awful compared to showtime but that 's just my opinion. Heck att uverse has giving away hbo free for years now. i have showtime in my tv package and keep doing the 3 months free of hbo they over for last two years.

HBO has a lot of good tv shows and documentaries. I really like the 24/7 series, Hard Knocks, Road to the Winter Classic, and of course Game of Thrones. I think Showtime boxing crew sucks compared to HBO crew for boxing events.

Back on topic, I'm getting a bit disappointed that the colored DS4's still aren't out Stateside yet... I nearly caved on importing one earlier today. I really need a second controller for some co-op(NBA, Towerfall, Dead Nation)but really don't want to buy another black one. :(

Dexter wasn't exclusive to Showtime and it's carried by Netflix now.

Edit: The HBO GO app is the sole reason I haven't packed my 360 up. It doesn't get a lot of use, or do a lot things well but it is excellent for streaming HBO go episodes... well... except for that one time with True Detective

You forgot Carnivàle, which is easily my favorite of the hour long drama type shows. Though, I can't recall if it's available there. Showtime gave us Dead Like Me, so I can forgive them for allowing Dexter to become complete and utter shit by the end.

^ I haven't seen it... but that's what I like about HBO. You can watch 10 complete series; fall in love with 2-3 and still have two dozen or more quality shows that you missed.

And there is something for everyone. It feels like they focus on 4-5 series at a time that will have widespread appeal and then gamble on 3-4 more that may or may not take off.

But what's the reason for this app not being on Sony devices? I know the Amazon app was exclusive to Sony for awhile but it's now on 360.

I think awhile back one of the GAF insiders said the deal between EA and Respawn was only for Titanfall 1. Titanfall 2's distribution will be influenced by Respawn the second go around. The whole new update from the insider about EA admitting their mistake about the Xbox exclusivity is no surprise. The install base of PS4 is dramatic so now they look like the idiots. They really dropped the ball and could have used this game as the CoD killer but their bottom line has been struggling so they took the sure bet and went with the cash grab from Microsoft.

Respawn has been public about their willingness to make their IP multiplatform with a broader audience so it's a logical conclusion that Titanfall 2 will come out on the PS4 at least.

 
Showtimes original programming can't hold a candle to hbo. To claim that dexter is on the same level as the wire is preposterous.


On topic, I've gotten pretty pumped about infamous second son. I think I'm going to jump on the 'spend 60 get 10 back' deal and pick it up digitally.

the options are pretty simple. 1) stop posting here. 2) stop having dumb opinions about things. we all know #1 isnt going to happen even though we all want it. so, i guess #2 is what youll have to do.

It's obvious the mods aren't going to do anything about it so that's all that can be done. The people that troll him back are as bad as he is as it keeps him posting, keeps derailing threads, keeps his post getting quoted and seen even by those smart enough to put him on ignore.

This site has just really went downhill since the move to the new software. That drove off a lot of people and left the village idiots free roam apparently. I guess they need to keep page views and posts up all they can for revenue purposes since things are so much slower on the boards than before.

Yea I thought I heard a while back Respawn didn't even want to do exclusive, but EA being the publisher forced it. Now with the sales figures showing that EA was screwed, you can bet that it will go multiplatform unless MS throws an obscene amount of money that would make up the difference.

Also, I do believe Infamous will outsell next gen titanfall, mostly because it is the first truly next gen game, and the install base warrants that most PS4 owners will purchase it to finally take the PS4 for a true spin so to speak.

Na I think I'm picking option 1. It' seems people will bash everything I say just to bash me here. It's not about people not agree what I say. It's just bash me for fun to look cool. People on this ps4 forum need to get thier head out of thier butt and grow up and act like adults. No reason to call someone a fing idiot for his opinion on a topic.

iirc 'famousmortimer' thinks Titanfall will outsell inFamous in North America. However, he believes inFamous will win when it comes to the worldwide numbers. He may be right about the next gen figures at least.

I spend most of my online game browsing on cag but on occassion I like to read about the insider stuff on GAF as I find all the corporate stuff behind the gaming industry to be fascinating. There were crazy stories during the current gen cycle that never got publicized. The "we're so fucking sorry, Sony" is the most recent one.

kudos to sony for having a supply for their biggest game yet. it's a good sign to see these at my local wallmart and that amazon has been in stock for a week now. If i had to guess looks like this place had at least 5 systems in stock.

Amazon did go out of stock and got more in last week. I've seen stores around here get a few in at a time but quickly sell them a day or two later

Yeah I still have an alert set up for Amazon through zoolerts and it sends an e-mail every time they come back in stock and I've gotten 3-4 e-mails this week which means Amazon has gone OOS, at least momentarily, 3-4 times.

But I think its' getting much easier for people to get one... if they want one.
