This thread will maintain a list of all current and upcoming sales and markdowns on the Xbox Live Marketplace / Xbox Games Store for the USA.  YMMV in other regions.  If non-US sales are listed, they will be marked with their applicable region(s).

Please note:

  • You cannot currently buy any Xbox 360 content on xbox.com using your account balance, you can only use an active credit card or PayPal. To use your balance, you must make purchases on your console.  Unfortunately, even "purchasing" free content through the web site like trials requires an alternative method of payment tied to your account, though adding an empty MasterCard / Visa gift card that is registered for online purchases will work.  Xbox One games can be purchased on the web site with your account balance, but DLC cannot.
  • Some sales are intended for Gold subscribers only, as noted within each section.  This requires being a paid subscriber or within a console-activated "1 month complimentary Gold trial" account.  Neither 48 hour trials, 14 day trials nor free weekends qualify.
  • All known sales and information on sales should make their way into the OP. Major Nelson usually updates his blog with new sales information every other Tuesday.
  • ALL OFFERS ARE SUBJECT TO CHANGE! No information within this thread can or should be construed as accurate (or still valid), therefore ...
  • Always verify Xbox Live Marketplace prices before your purchase!
  • Spend wisely, have fun, and enjoy!

All downloadable songs for Guitar Hero, DJ Hero and Band Hero games will be delisted on March 31st, 2014. It's on Guitar Hero's Facebook page.

That's the reason behind the recent promotion. What a wonderful digital future we're heading to...
Had a feeling. Activision is too greedy to just let us have a nice 50% off sale, just because. I always thought the buyable songs were a rip-off anyways. Should be able to take your own music library and use it in-game.

Oh well. Still wondering if any songs should be purchased for the sake of achievements.

If you want to get the 750K achievement in GH3 a little easier, I'd recommend getting the Death Magnetic Full Album by Metallica. All Nightmare Long is much easier to get 750K on than anything else.

Other than that, no song I can think of makes any achievement in the GH series much easier/accessible than on-disc songs.

How disappointing it was to scroll through every friggin' guitar hero song ever on xbldb trying to find out what was on sale this week only to find out that I own every single game on the list.

Or could've just gone to majornelson.com since he updated it early in the morning...

Thanks, Bloomy! I hadn't seen a deal on MS Money since the changeover, just got $50 for a rainy day. I don't venture outside this thread often, would have missed it without you. Much appreciated!

fuck this weeks sale. I just bought, MGS V: Ground Zeroes.

Proud of it.
Daniel__s_Facepalm_by_xAikaNoKurayami.jpg

Don't worry lerm, if it's a franchise you love $20 is not that much to ask, and it's $10 less than retail. Personally I never got into the series since I'm not a big stealth fan, but buying a game that has decent reviews for msrp isn't really worthy of that meme. Whateva I do what I want!

Waiting for the inevitable dual bundle pack ala MGS2 subsistence or whatever was included in peace walker. Although this camp is obviously bigger than the tanker so no comparison there.

I don't know if I can wait that long for more Metal Gear. I picked up MGR from those crazy Microsoft Store sales, but I don't know if that will be enough.

$30 on X1. Refuse to buy past gen when I own next.
Nice and I don't blame you. I haven't bought a One yet. I'm waiting for black Friday (Yup, that long) before I buy one. My Xbox 360 is only a few years old and the games play the same..most are the same. I will catch up on Titanfall and Dead Rising 3, someday.

Not gonna argue with you there. But I never got any new gen console at launch. I wasn't gonna miss out this time. Plus, i actually enjoy the hell out of my One.

For those trying to figure out if they want to buy Ground Zeroes and for what format they should buy it for here's a bit of advice.

Wait for a sale as it's just an overpriced demo.

If you can't wait for a sale note that Konami has made it very difficult for people who own both a Sony and MS system. The PS4 version looks the best but the Microsoft version has a much better special mission where you play as Raiden while the Sony version has a lame special mission where you stage photos.

Again, I'd buy it at $5 - think Capcom did this right with Dead Rising: Case Zero. But $30 often translates as 6 good XBL games or even GoD games. $20 translates into 4. I just can't waste more then $5 on a demo. Maybe when it goes to disc and they have to liquadate these at Ebgames in a few years time I'll grab it then.

After Metal Gear Solid 4...I'm fine giving money to Konami, even for an overglorified demo. I Mean...Metal Gear Solid 4 was just so...Metal Gear Solid 4!

I'm probably picking up $30 from the Newegg deal. It might be a sign that Metal Gear costs the same. I went into MGR with meh expectations and came out amazed. Metal Gear games have only let me down once and even that wasn't complete garbage. Maybe I can find a rental place that isn't out of business yet. Must resist.

EDIT: Alternate costume of new Street Fighter character was just sent to me

This is my exact thought as well. I won't pay any more than $10 for it on X1. That's what it's the MOST worth to me. It's 1000gs, and provides, supposedly, fun gameplay that I would enjoy. So $10 sounds right.

Yes the Dead Rising: Case Zero analogy is perfect. It even had achievements and the progress gained in the demo was carried into Dead Rising 2. I'd rather see that as a gaming trend then what I feel is a console early access with MGS:GZ. Really early access has become a stable with the PC market and this is just the beginning to consoles if this does well. Listening to reviews I really can't understand the value some people put on a game. First people said PvZ: GW for just multiplayer was too much, then we heard it for Titanfall and now we've got a single player demo yet people say it's a great value. Que!? Even if you manage to do EVERYTHING in this demo it pales to the time resulted from multiplayer only games like Titanfall and PvZ:GW. my 2 cents

After Metal Gear Solid 4...I'm fine giving money to Konami, even for an overglorified demo. I Mean...Metal Gear Solid 4 was just so...Metal Gear Solid 4!
Don't make me talk about how overrated that game is again. :p

This this this. It's a move meant to appease MGS fans while we wait for TPP, but it's just such a sneaky cashgrab. I mean, at least you got ZoE with the MGS 2 demo.

I'm gonna guess it's mainly because Konami is desperate for money since the only franchises they haven't run into the ground are MGS and PES.

I'm sure it's a good demo, but it's still overpriced. It's so bad that Sony is offering a free copy of Peace Walker HD if you buy it digitally for PS3.

I'm sure there'll be a bundle with it and TPP in the future (maybe it'll be a pre-order bonus). Ideally, they would make TPP cost $40 as well to offset some of the cost (making it $80 for both), but it's Konami so I doubt it'll happen.

What's worse is even though they're touching on the short length in the reviews, it's still getting decent scores because it's Metal Gear. Compare that to Yaiba, a full-length game which is getting torn a new asshole, and there's a problem.

I Enjoyed that game a great deal. I'll leave it at that, then again I played the game nearly the same throughout, meaning alot of Snake crawling on the ground and then spotting an enemy and tranquilizing them and then going to the now unconscious body and shooting it point blank in the head. Rinse and repeat with the occasional giggling at how cowardly my version of Snake was.

OP is updated.  Was worried I'd hit a character limit, since the BBCode for everything that XBLDB picked up on in the last ~28 hours or so (minus some duplicates) was around 80k characters.  Tracks are grouped by the game XBLDB marks it with, I don't know about cross compatibilities.

Que!? Even if you manage to do EVERYTHING in this demo it pales to the time resulted from multiplayer only games like Titanfall and PvZ:GW. my 2 cents
It's because of the franchise. For some inexplicable reason (to me), people love this series and are willing to throw money at whatever Kojima says about the game. As you mentioned, even in reviews, Titanfall and PvZ got blasted for being $40-60 for being a MP only game whereas this is a $30 glorified demo. The only way to stretch out the demo is to replay the missions. I'm sorry but to me that's not value, Kojami basically said that it's a 2-3 hour game but people will want to play it again and again.

Had Titanfall and PvZ been $30, I would have bought them both.

GZ should have been a $15 downloadable title. Or on disc too, whatever.

Compare that to Yaiba, a full-length game which is getting torn a new asshole, and there's a problem.
What does Yaiba being a shitty game have to do with this?

It came out the same day, and is getting shit all over in reviews while Ground Zeroes is getting 70s on Metacritic (because METAL GEAR), despite arguably being a worse game. And you can tell that because of the shared release date, the critics are mentally comparing the two in regards to what score to give it and of course it's going to lose that battle because of Ground Zeroes' pedigree.

That's what Yaiba has to do with it. Game's going to be annihilated in sales because of all the Kojima-worshippers hyping Ground Zeroes like the seconding coming of Jesus, and a decent FULL LENGTH game'll end up overlooked.

The thing is it's early access to what players will expect for MGS V:TPP, it's a demo. Now I can see if Bioware threw out a demo of what fans could expect with Mass Effect 4 being a big deal. If it was $30 and being a huge fan and wanting to know the story and all, yeah I'd still say f you I'll wait.

I picked up PvZ:GW for $30, you mean the Xbox One version? So $10 more and you decided not to pick it up, well from someone who's played about 50 hours of the game, you are missing out on some fun fun fun. Yaiba is a niche title to start with so it's not surprising it's not fairing well with reviewers but some games get more liberty than others due to their brand name.

Alex and Bobby related? Both Tastic?

Damn wish Ground Zeroes was longer would have def gotten it but seeing as Mgs5 is so long away I guess I will wait and let out drop in price.

Also if you guys have Shop your way memberships check your emails. I just got $15 which expire today.

I see WWE 2K14 on sale for $39.99 on Xbox 360. Any comments on the game? It is better than WWE 13? Just want to get feedback before buying it.

From what I hear. Its a great game. Has everything a wrestling fan is expecting. I haven't played it yet myself, but my friends all say its worth it.

What the fuck? They actually acknowledge the game exists and they don't offer it to the crowd that would get them a million subs for it?

Very tempted to region-jump for this one, I've been waiting on a sale for this one since I signed up for live on my 360 (Jan 2011, yep, I know there was a sale for it in Dec 2010, I just missed it.)

Why do the replacement games always turn out to be so good?
yeah, other regions are getting better offers lately. Japan just get their free Bangai-o HD. I have that, but it's hell a lot better than Dungeon Defenders.

You mean, anywhere outside the opinionated person's head?
Well said! Yes, that exactly.

Update on MGS V:GZ. Just beat it. If you're a big fan of the series, its worth your money to buy it now, just to see how freaking gorgeous it is and how well it plays. It sets a very nice pace for TPP.

Oh and...srsly..Keifer Sutherland, does a great job.

I've been finishing up 24 to prepare for Metal Gear. I hope he isn't yelling the whole time. He is supposed to be stealth man.

Titanfall 360 delayed for 2 weeks.

This sucks, but I prefer to live in the fantasy scenario where the 2 versions are actually extremely similar, and this is MS just trying to get a few more sales out of the x1 and sell some systems for the impatient.

So, last night I decided to hop into Happy Wars (which I haven't done in quite a while except to collect some rewards).

FTR, you now get credit/items/experience when you do offline games in One Player Skirmish mode.  Originally, offline games gave you NOTHING except a chance to test some things (like spells and tactics) out and learn the maps.  Had they had that in from the beginning, I likely never would have stopped playing so much.  Maybe now I can properly level up my Zephyr...
