Xbox One - General Discussion Thread

Anyone have any issues with Amazon Prime or Netflix after recent update?  My friend is having issues with Amazon where the video quality is HD, but it stutters or jitters with the voice sync is off.  Usually if it's a network issue it would just drop the video quality, but it's not doing that.

I noticed NETFLIX had a similar problem, but I was only watching a cartoon so it wasn't as pronounced.

The 360 version was messed up for a while. When that happens you can do 2 things to try and help. Delete the app and reinstall and also clear cache.

It fixed Hulu a few times this happened but the Hulu app is buggy as hell.

Haven't tried it yet, but can you record the last 30 seconds of the "TV" in. Basically if I'm playing 360 through the Xbox One, can I say record that and get the last 30 seconds of the 360 feed?

early adapters should never be upset over this stuff and other things. thanks to best buy rewards i got close to 120 bucks in rewards for stuff i paid for at launch so was worth it.

Hey....good sales this weekend on Tomb Raider and Thief.  $30 each on XBL.  I might bite on Tomb Raider.  I played it last year and enjoyed it enough to play the new version.  $20 would be a no-brainer.

I'm sold on Tomb Raider. To be honest that's what I feel the price should have been, but I'm aboard. I'll play through it again. Is Thief worth it at that price? Reviews say no, but some seem to really like it.

Was competly disappointed as the price for Tomb Raider was posted at $14.99. Sadly it was just an error of posting and is $29.99.

I can't justify spending $30 when I have Titanfall, PvZ GW (surprisingly REALLY good game that I originally got for my daughter/wife who at PvZ nuts) and Dark Souls 2. Let alone a backlog of games that include epic games like RDR, Oblivion etc.

But if it was $15 I would have bit because I doubt I would have seen cheaper anytime in the next year.
 
With any electronic device, v1 is always going to be the most expensive and you're paying for the VIP pass to play the latest and greatest. While that was unfortunately postponed, the games are here, the updates fixed the UI and overall I think Microsoft's fixed their mistakes. Heard rumors that they're still wanting to go with the digital sharing they revealed back at E3. If those Xbox One sales do well, we're hopefully on our way to a future of "Steam like sales".

Just saw it, Newegg is now offering the Titanfall bundle for $425 with promo code. Not bad.

Yeah to me the 6 months with the system was totally worth $100. Awesome for people getting a great deal though! Welcome aboard.

I kid because I have Kingdoms of Amalur, MGS Peace Walker, Tales of Vesperia and a couple more on my 360 HDD that I decided I'm not going to worry about.  All about the Xbox One for me now, I think.   Well, after I finish Bioshock Infinite Burial at Sea episode 2.  ;)

 
Tax refund finally transferred! WOoooo! Well basically I just cancelled my 360 Titanfall and used the credit I applied on that for the system so 1 day shipping is covered by that credit lol. Tomorrow look for Spybreaker to sign on ya bitches.

Yeh I have 4 games I am definitely going to finish (RDR, Tales of Vesparia, Dark Souls 2 and Oblivion) and quite a few I want to but may skip. Sadly I sold a bunch of my 360 games off only for AAA games be added to my Steam Library.

This Gen I'm planning to only buy games to play immediately and finish. We'll see how that goes.
 
I completely understand.  I'm trying to go the quality > quantity route this year.  It's hard when so many things seem to be in the A+ category.  That's why I'm debating on getting Tomb Raider for $30 this weekend when it goes on sale.  It's a great game, but I could spend my time with Titanfall and Killer Instinct, and then save some money. 

But, I have to say, play RDR.  Such a good game and the music is just excellent. 

 
I think Tomb Raider might hit $20 soon. If you need something to play $30 is a decent price for it but if you could wait I would definitely recommend it. It came out about two months ago and the price is already dropping a good amount.

Dark Brotherhood. 'nuff said.

Tomb Raider is excellent - but yeah, physical copy should hit $20 before too long, esp. with all the recent Gamefly sales ($25 likely).

Yah I quite liked Shivering Isles for Oblivion, the characters and writing are top notch and shouldn't be missed. Oblivion can be experienced in a week I think, even if you don't finish it you'll have a good concept on the game. Also Knights of the Nine was a great little expansion.

The Tomb Raider thing, that's my view on all video games now. With so many titles out there floating around in the physical/digital marketplace if you can wait for it to go down then you're golden. However there's less flexibility with Tomb Raider because its remake was very good, the next-gen featured version is top notch for that price.

As far as tomb raider goes, I bought  it for 360 on sale through the ms store for 20 and when amazon had it cheap for the xbox one I bought it again! Such a good game and I want to increase the size of my xbox one collection.  

I may hold off on buying anything until watch dogs though, my backlog grows more by the week and I have a habit of starting games and not finishing them.

I'm waiting for Tomb Raider to go a bit lower. I think $20 will be my buy price since I played it on the 360 already. I thought the SP was great, but I hated the online portion.

Yeah, the only reason I played multiplayer was for the achievements. If not for those, I probably would've tried it out for 15 minutes and then moved on.

 
Ok, so I did my scientfic test last night with the Amazon Prime app.  I have the latest BETA update (I believe....the damn XBOX is always updating).  I watched the same crappy movie (LAST STAND) on XBOX ONE and PS4.  On the X1 the quaility was horrible.  It was in HD, but it would stutter, freeze, etc. The audio would be fine, but the video sucked.

On the PS4, everything was fine....no issues.  I watched about 2 minutes on each console.  My friend has the same issue with his amazon Prime, different ISP also.  I'm going to assume that the XBOX APP is screwed up.

Anyone else with issues?

Watched Hanibal Saturday after the last update I got and it was fine.

Honestly? There's a forum on Xbox.com for the Beta updates you should post the issue there.


The only problem I've noticed is ever since my last update, when I say "Xbox turn off", it goes to the yes or no screen with each word in green, but Kinect won't recognize either command at that point.

The One has a built in speed test in the Network settings....run it and make sure you're getting the full speed. Yesterday twitch kept lagging on me using wireless and it was only running at 3mbps instead of my full 12 so I had to switch to wired.

I find it odd that my friend and I have the same issue. I will find the XBOX forums and post. CAG is generally more helpful than XBOX forums. I have the same XBOX OFF issue also.

I just mentioned the xbox forums cause they said in the beta messages they wanted problems brought to them there.
 
I got at least 6 months until I need a One. I mean this in the nicest of way possible when I say I'm glad this thing is losing to the PS4 since everyone and their mother is reducing its price by 50 bucks already. By the time I have to get one hopefully I'll be able to get it even cheaper.

I just got an email teasing me about this. Said something like keep tabs on the game while PLAYING games at the same time.

Yeh I know I can go to in game sound and drop the video game master volume to 0, but why can M$ not figure out an easy fix to this as I would love to basically PiP my kids Netflix show with March madness

Sweet. I checked the newest patch notes about a week ago and didn't see it in them. Maybe I overlooked it though. Just annoyed me right now as March Madness is one of my favorite times of year. That and March Madness + kids that want to watch a show before sleep = me missing these games.

And yes we have 1 TV in the house as we don't watch much TV.
 
system is looking good after these couple updates.  Next i would like them to allow us to change main background color or put images in back again.

Got my system today and I should have downloaded the Blu-ray app first so I could watch movies while I wait for Titanfall and Forza 5 to download haha. I won a code from a DICE contest on Google+, free Forza 5, bundled Titanfall, not bad!

Haha Chubby just sent me a congratulatory message and I tried to type out a message with the controller. After I sent that I said f this, downloaded Smartglass Xbox One for my Galaxy S4 and then used that to type out a message using my swipe method and holy crap waaaay easier and it's pretty close to a 1 to 1 phone/TV typing integration. I hear you can now buy Xbox One games on Xbox's site with your account balance too so there's another thing my phone will help me with lol.

Also according to Forza Motorsport 5 my TV wasn't calibrated correctly as after following the settings display guide my picture looks a hell of a lot better. Wow, I've probably had this TV at what I thought was the best settings before and Forza 5 looks puuurdy.

Stuff like the MS store 30 dollar sale is why I'm glad Sony kind of spanked them out of the gate (not that the Xbone sold poorly at launch, but the momentum was clearly more in favor of the PS4 as far as hype). Over the last month MS has done a fairly shocking amount of stuff to impress. Their Twitch support is better (although I think an incoming Sony patch is supposed to achieve parity), they have both physical and digital sales on stuff that is far better than most of the scoff-worthy sales MS put on for the first few years of the 360, they've been pretty quick to patch some of the more glaring annoyances with the interface, and now they're essentially cutting the console price and throwing in a choice of game that comes with it.

I knew the positive PS4 reaction would force MS to get their act together, bit I had no idea we'd start seeing preliminary signs of it this fast. Hope it keeps up.

I'd like to see it queue them and start the download if you have your system in standby so my game can be ready when I get off work.
 
Super liking being able to go seamlessly from one game to another or one game to an app. I have both Titanfall and Forza Motorsport 5 digitally, well I guess Peggle 2 as well lol, and being able to flip on the fly to the game without putting in a disc is, I hate to say it, a pretty cool feature. Still though it took forever to download Forza 5 for me so, like Steam, just deleting and downloading the game I want to play to deal with the lack of space later on might be inconvenient. Hmmm, I predict I'll be weighing the pros and cons for going all or mostly digital throughout this generation. 

Tried out Kinect Sports Rivals but the Kinect didn't work for me there which I did not want to troubleshoot more than I tried to do.

My TV and Kinect are set up now so I can adjust the volume, turn on the system/TV with "Xbox On" but yeah I can't turn it off with "Xbox Off" either. I did use more of the voice commands when I had been watching my Thor Blu-ray and my controller shut off to save energy which was again super convenient-and a little bit Sci-Fi.

Oh, I also have a piece of paper covering the Kinect when I'm not using it for video, problem solved whinny internet lol.

 
people freak out over kinect but yet im sure they have  cam on labtop/desktop/cellphone and post life info on the internet.  :wall:

on a system note it seems like the april update makes the game resume feature work much better. For some reason some games it would never work for but now all games i have work perfect. it's great that in like two mins from turning system on i can be in a match of titanfall already.
