I'm enjoying God of War 1 but man, this game is so "bad". Bad's not even the right word but it's what my gut goes to when I try to figure out how to describe it. Like everything that Knack gets ripped for is no better in my experience with the GoW series. Only played through Chains of Olympus and half of the first game so I'm interested to see if 2 and 3 make that big of a leap or if GoW just had that it factor that Knack missed on. Even despite the stupid cheap deaths, the agile god killer who can't walk on a beam wider than his torso, and the various other dumb things it still makes you want to keep playing.
Just wait till you get to the Hell level where it wasn't play tested and it shows. Also, in the original version, the box pushing you had to do in the beginning? It broke after 2 arrows hitting it.

I didn't have any real issue with that section, it's the stupid beams leading up to it that killed me 48 times in that level.

So i finally beat Trials Fusion, i unlocked the rabbit bike and the extreme courses, man fuk that shit haha.

Tranisistor looks really good but im a lil confused at what the gameplay is supposed to be like. If the gameplay is hack and slash like Bastion was then its gonna be great.

Two first names is nothing. Imagine being named Ha Ha Clinton-Dix.

Go Pack Go!

So my wonderful cat, who has already cost me over $4k in the last 4 years in vet bills decided to knock a large cup of water onto both of my DS3 controllers. After letting them dry for a full week, I tried one of them out. Down, L1, and L2 don't work at all. Didn't bother testing L3/R3 (couldn't think of a convenient test), but every other button works. So that's garbage. Charging the 2nd controller now, which if I am very lucky will only have a much shorter battery life than it used to, and not also be broken. Else I will have to spend ~$70 replacing my DS3s. Hopefully people who use my PS3 to watch annoying shows on Netflix will chip in towards 1 or 2 new controllers. Kinda glad right now that my Move controller won't work with Netflix, cause there's at least some incentive for people to chip in since it doesn't.

In other news, my 20GB PS3 (500GB replacement HDD), which my exbf very graciously took apart to apply new thermal paste to, is already starting to overheat just from being turned on for a few minutes (or I assume it's overheating since once you turn the PS3 on the fan immediately turns on and after being on another 10 minutes after that the fan kicks it into high gear) so I guess I'm going to have to get him to take it apart again and have a look again.

Glorious.
You sure like to blame others for things that happen with your shit and then turn around and try to get someone else to pay for something you could have easily prevented in the first place.

Not sure if you're aware I didn't write that article, nor did I make an analysis of anything other than ESPN's obvious love for Lebron.
I can just tell you right now how I feel about the Michael Sam situation. I think it's great for the sport, and young people will be able to look up to him as a role model. I almost thought he wasn't going to get drafted, but fortunately a team stepped in and took him. Together, Michael Sam and the Rams are going to prove to the world that it doesn't matter if you're "different", you can do whatever you want. Think about the number of high school and college athletes who are in the same position he was. Now to have a role model who tore down that barrier, is amazing for all sports and our culture as a whole. I mean, for crying out loud the man has two first names! Imagine the obstacles he's had to face because of that. And now he's going to be a professional athlete, despite his names holding him back. I know there are a lot of assholes out there who are going to rag on him for having two first names, but he just needs to stay positive and ignore the hate. He and the Rams are proving to young athletes with two first names around the world that they can all be successful.
So which one of these people is you?

I didn't have any real issue with that section, it's the stupid beams leading up to it that killed me 48 times in that level.
There's a trophy for dying a shit-ton of times. I could have earned that trophy twice on the beams. The thing is, I could easily have done the beams in a handful of tries, but I was going to be damned if I didn't get those stupid chests opened before I was done. Same on the hell level with the bullshit stuff there.

Also, BEST trophy in any God of War game is in Chains of Olympus, and you get it just for crossing the insanely easy beam at the beginning of the game. It's the only beam in the entire game, and they make a joke out of that by giving you a trophy for crossing it. And somehow people don't like Chains of Olympus as much as the others. Go figure.

Exactly, those stupid chests made it far worse.

Just wait till you get to the Hell level where it wasn't play tested and it shows. Also, in the original version, the box pushing you had to do in the beginning? It broke after 2 arrows hitting it.
Was it really not playtested, or is that a guess? I found the spinning walk-ways irritating, but they were nowhere near as bad as the uphill caged-sacrifice part or the beam walking part. Compared to the beam walking I died very few times on the spinning walk-ways (and I got all the chests on both of those sections).

Every beam section I can't help but think to myself how this is supposed to be the greatest warrior in the world, is insanely agile to be able to pull off the moves he does, and yet wobbles when standing on a three foot wide surface.
Hey, give the man some credit. You couldn't even get my ass to stand on those fucking 3 foot wide beams.

are these games on PSN/on sale before?

- PS3 Heavenly Sword R1
- PS3 Bayonetta R1
- PS3 Resonance of Fate R1
- PS3 Ratchet and Clank Future - A Crack in Time R1
- PS3 Folklore R1

trying to hunt down these old "classics" for play
I don't care if Bayo is on PSN and on sale for 80% off, you don't want it, you can borrow my 360 and my copy if you want. :p

Probably one of these two:

While were on the subject, I'm completely against people with two first names getting married. It just promotes and spreads the use of first names as last names.

What if they have children and hyphenate their first name-last names? When will this madness end?

we do have the option to hide a game. which is pretty much the same thing.
No, it isnt. If you have earned trophies in a game, those trophies are still in your count. The trophy tracking websites know you have hidden trophies and mark your profile. One removes you from the leader boards completely if you have any hidden earned trophies. It works if you have a 0% on your profile though.

Isn't that only if you haven't earned any trophies on it or is that something I'm not aware of?
You can hide anything, but the consequences are mentioned above for hiding a game with trophies.

This option is only currently available on the vita, correct?
Nope. You can do it on PS3, but it takes a few steps. It will only allow you to do it if you are set to online trophy mode and is kind of a pain in the ass. You can go back to offline after you hide them though. You should be able to find steps on google. It is a little more straight forward on PS4 and Vita.

I mentioned that as the reason why God of War is at the bottom of my order for the series' best games since it has many of the same mechanics that are done well in the following games, but they're not very well designed in the original game. Fighting on ropes and walls are too common/long in the first game, but they figure out after that that those sorts of scenarios should be more succinct. You get maybe one of each of those in sequels that aren't the overwhelming sequences that they are in the first game. Outside of those sequences, it's still a really good game, but it suffers the same fate as a lot of Sony PS2 franchises where the first games are quite different than their sequels because it's either a rougher version of what you expect from the series(God of War, Ratchet & Clank) or they change the style of game quite a bit (Jak & Daxter, Sly Cooper). That's one of the reasons that I really like these HD collections, as I can appreciate the modern installments even more having seen where they started and how much they've evolved/changed since then.

And yet you still have your cat as your avatar...
After dropping $4k on vet bills, I feel like I am supposed to like him.

Edit: That's a joke, obviously. I still love my cat very much, and he was just doing what cats do when he knocked over the water. I'm irritated with him, but it was ultimately my fault for leaving the water where I left it.

So if I understand this correctly:

If I have a game in my trophy profile that has no trophies earned (e.g., Dynasty Warriors Gundam 3), I can hide it on Vita using the Privacy features in Trophies, and that will both boost my completion percentage and remove it from trophy tracking sites without incurring any penalties?

If you guys playing God of War and are having trouble crossing those beams than don't try the Challenge of the Gods. You'll have to complete 10 challenges straight with no saves. If you need a break you gave to pause and come back later. I'd always get to challenge 10 but never could beat it but after plenty of practice I was victorious. The speed run is the easiest in any game I've played.

i'm not sure if the vita list has the option, but i know the ps3 list does. it also doesn't matter if you have trophies in the game or not, you could hide a platinum if you wanted to. according to psnp i have 145 trophies hidden.

I am not sure if PSNP counts 0% games against you anyway. I think PSNTL does. However, the rest of that is true, yes.

Why are you playing on vita? I don't think it's fair to judge based on that port if it's your first time. I couldn't even get to the chest right before the hydra boss without falling countless times, lol. Did so after one try on ps3. Granted some of those platforming problems persist but it still runs a million times better. I really like it. Always thought it was a mindless button masher but the combat is actually quite fluid and varied. Great game.

I was making fun of your recent string of observations. The playoffs are "staged". Lebron James is a narcissist. ESPN is making a spectacle of Donald Sterling. How did you become so knowledgeable, professor?

Expected you to say the Rams made a calculated PR move. I wouldn't disagree. Doesn't diminish his accomplishment, but how meaningful a pick is it when they already have a stacked defensive line? I get the symbolism...people w/ two first names can still be football players. He's still going to get cut. Best of luck to him, though.

Well this is interesting.

I missed out on Soul Sacrifice as a free PS+ game when it was available.  Today I look at the PS store on my PS3, and there it is, SS for Vita listed as a free PS+ game again. I thought this was taken off of plus, or this was a glitch maybe? Either way I was able to download it.

Yeah, this got posted on Tuesday. Nobody knows why it's free again, but it is.

Works on PS3 with one of their most recent updates. You go to the trophy sync option, press triangle to make sure you're in online mode, and then sync. On the screen where it's showing your games, you can press triangle on any game and edit the privacy settings to not show trophies for that game.

You trophy guys and completists crack me up. I love playing games and would spend more time doing it if I could, but these are my current numbers. I'm surprised my completion percentage is that high, as I would have guessed less than 5%. The most I have on any one game is 64% on MLB The Show 13.

Oh and I've had a PS3 since 2008 and Vita/PS4 since day one.

Anybody interested in Transistor? I'm very curious about it, but not digging the $19.99 premium. What do you guys think?
I absolutely loved Bastion and I think only paid a couple dollars for it, so spending $20 on Supergiant Games new game is not a problem. With that being said, I am not "preordering it" on PSN and I do hope some kind of discount happens for plus members, but I don't see that happening. I just got a $10 gift card from best buy for buying Bound By Flame so I will use that to get a $10 PSN card and get Transistor day one.

There won't be a PS+ deal since it's available for pre-order. That's the price it'll be at launch for everybody.

I don't even know how the many various sites even count a game as "finished." Let's say I got the platinum in PSASBR, but didn't buy the one DLC that has an additional trophy. So my completion percentage for that game sits at 97%, even though I have already gotten the platinum. I have been under the impression that this does NOT count as a completed game since it's not 100% completed. There are a lot of games out there that have DLCs, and not everyone buys all the DLCs for every game. Having said that, I'm not surprised at all at some of the guys here who have such a high percentage of completion rates. They are true warriors...true CAGs.

True Trophies counts them as separate parts, so you can complete the base game but not any of the DLC packs.

I just looked at TT, and you are right, of course. My completion percentage on TT is higher than the one on PSN Profiles, where I had always suspected that a game doesn't count as completed, unfortunately, unless all the DLCs are completed as well. Not everyone buys all the DLCs for every game.

John Carmack took his cat to the shelter after it peed on his computer monitor. It was probably put down.

It is kind of annoying, but that is how sony handles it as well on the systems, I remember having 100% on a game and than after the dlc packs came out, I dropped down to 71%.

I can understand the obsession over trophies and completion. I mean if I didn't have a wife, kids and a busy full time job I'd probably do the same.

TT also calculates the percentage wrong :) It counts all trophies as worth the same amount.

Well at least the Vita will let you standby if you need to leave it for a bit.

I found it more annoying in microsoft land where you can 100% the game, and then if dlc comes out you don't even have something like a plat that denotes it as 'complete'. I had rdr at 100% and completed at one point, then it dropped back down to like 70% because of all the dlc that was released.

Even despite the stupid cheap deaths, the agile god killer who can't walk on a beam wider than his torso, and the various other dumb things it still makes you want to keep playing.
I am pretty sure that is where I gave up on God of War 1 on the PS3. Never tried any of the others. I wasn't bowled over by the game. I haven't tried any of the others.

But you had that nice, round 1000 to look at.

Finally got my Spec Ops Plat. Fantastic Game. I then tried MP and Co-op dlc for 5 minutes total and quickly deleted the game.

That final final run on FUBAR with all the turrets is insane. I had no sniping guns either, so I was stuck running with a scar and a p90. Thank god for that cache of grenade launcher/heavy machine gun before the final Heavy Boss. I stopped using Adams for anything because he was just getting himself killed, and then myself killed trying to heal him.
 MFWIC!

also I don't worry much bout trophy completion percentage. I put some Atellier rental in my ps3, played for an hour, nope never again, and sent it back. that's a big 1% trophy completion, but who cares. I need to start/finish these game spy games, clock is ticking...

n yeah i totally am skipping that plankton spongebob game. no trophies or flip value. i must be missing something.

I'm losing my cagness for free shit.
