VIDEOGAME SELLERS TARGETED FRAUD info on half.com / ebay/ amazon
vivafriend , when it comes to collectable sealed games I would rather sell it to a fellow collector on here or at NA. You won't make as much but you will spare yourself of the trouble associated with ebay/amazon.
Agreed.
vivafriend , when it comes to collectable sealed games I would rather sell it to a fellow collector on here or at NA. You won't make as much but you will spare yourself of the trouble associated with ebay/amazon.
I probably should return to trading and selling here, but, truthfully, a seller runs the risk of issues no matter the place.

Still feeling annoyed about the little switcheroo. It placed my account in a negative balance and Amazon would not take the money back until the scheduled date and it turned out I had an old card from 2011 in place for such debits and I have to wait until Halloween for them to deduct the money now. It's my fault for that obviously, but it's strange they would not let me give them the money ASAP.

Looking at the broken item annoys me to no end. Not counting the disc in question, the other eighteen discs would make me shudder if I considered them in 'good' condition by Amazon's criteria. Turned a hundred buck set into a paperweight.

Finally some good news for sellers that use paypal. Don't know if it was posted yet but paypal recently upgraded its seller protection policy and will refund sellers against chargebacks as long as you have a tracking number and ship to the confirmed address. In late September I've had two unauthorized purchases/credit card company charge back claims refunded to me because I uploaded tracking info. It only covers physical items and anything over $250 needs signature confirmation. You can check out the full breakdown here.
this I just got scooped....buyer bought Mass Effect 2 for PS3 back in March, and on Monday, May 31st, I was notified that the buyer filed for a chargeback.

I responded immediately to Half.com and asked them to look into my 100% positive satisfactory rating before making the decision, yet they decided to credit the buyer back, for $30 more than the price the seller paid for the item, is this even possible?

Is there any legal actions or complaints I can file?

The buyer's user name is darkhaloman89

and the address I shipped the item to was

Darn, I also received a transaction order to this exact address last week. Fortunately, I attached DC# ... but it still is a shame. Scammers are in full swing this holday season :whistle2:( .

so I just had a buyer buy an xbox from me and ask me to ship it to an address that wasnt her paypal, as she did not know it was still under her old address. Issued a refund and they said they would change their paypal info and just pay again. Will this work? Does this sound like an honest mistake, or a scam?

Im a top-rated seller so I would think scammers would tend to avoid me, but I dont know, maybe its the other way around.

Should work as all you need is to send to the confirmed address (2nd payment)
The fact that you are a top seller might just make you more prone to attempted scams as they might think you will just let it go ...

Please watch out for Kyle Corey. He filed a dispute with me on eBay for not receiving the code and he had made numerous excuses that the codes that he entered 5 times were invalid. I tried verifying it again and it said redeem and now he's changing his story. He demanded another code, so I sent him another one and he said he hasn't receive it.

Just sent a game to this "person" right here. Ebay emailed me right after I got home from the post office. Printed the label through Half.com and used DC, so here's hoping. At least it's only $20, still sucks ass but it could be much worse. Guess I'll Google everyone's names and addresses from now on.

Replying to an old post, but no protection if the buyer claims you sent something not as described.
I'm confused though- what's going on? Are the addresses all fake? Or are they the real addresses and the scammers are just doing chargebacks?

Anyone been seeing a lot of activity from new half.com/ebay accounts (0 feedback) lately? I've had several come in recently with the telltale signs of BS orders, but I wanted to see if anyone else has as well?

One account that is just screaming chargeback is some bitch that changes the delivery name and user name with each new account, but is using the same address:

5302 Bulrush Ct
Apt. 4
Louisville, KY 40258

Would recommend listing both the 5 digit zip code as well as the 5+4 full zip, as searching for just the 5 digit will not return posts with the 5+4 i.e. searching for "12345" will not return any post that has "12345-6789"

How did that end up on here? I've sold tons of games to her in the past through eBay and Amazon without an issue. She would buy hard to find OOP stuff from me at a fair price and turn around and put them on Amazon for an outrageous price.

Can anyone help me out with an issue I'm having with an Amazon buyer? I recently picked up a Red/Black DS Lite on craigslist. The system was in excellent condition with some wear on the top cover being the only blemish worth noting.

I sold it on Amazon and just received a complaint alleging that the system does not hold a charge, the L & R buttons are not working, and the serial number is missing from the back.

I played on this DS Lite shortly before sending it out. I confirmed that it does indeed hold a charge (played Phantom Hourglass for a bit and Pokemon), the serial number was on the back when I was cleaning the system, and the L & R buttons were working when I played Link to the Past.

The real kicker is that the craigslist seller e-mailed me pictures of the system. One of these pictures shows the serial number on the back (albeit with a thin black censor bar obscuring the actual numbers). Either way, it shows that there was indeed a serial number sticker when I sent it out.

I get the feeling that this person is trying to commit return fraud at my expense. I will attempt to get the unaltered picture of the serial number from the craigslist seller.

I just wanted to know if I should ask the customer to send it back first or dispute this issue with Amazon directly and bring it to their attention that this customer is trying to commit return fraud. I know the system is biased towards the buyer, but I caught her in a lie and I think I can BBQ this asshole's story with proof.

Thanks for any and all help. I will also post the offender's name and mailing address should it indeed be a case of return fraud.

^ You should always take your own pictures of stuff like that.

I haven't had many issues lately but then again I'm not selling that much any more. But I did have something a few weeks back that I thought for sure I'd have to count as a loss: a chargeback from a buyer in Mexico that just paid for cheap first-class shipping (so no tracking once it went past LA). Much to my surprise, PayPal covered the chargeback. So, yeah, that was a pleasant surprise. Apparently the first-class tracking number (which is just the Customs number, really) is sufficient now. That didn't used to be the case as I lost out on a few International shipments in the past because they weren't Priority Mail (with full tracking showing delivery).

The chargeback was for "unauthorized" purchase and I never heard a word from the buyer via email or eBay.
^ You should always take your own pictures of stuff like that.
I usually do, but the DS Lite wasn't all that expensive of an item ($50+). I've sold items well above that so I didn't really give it a second thought. I'm going to hold onto the serial number picture until I absolutely have to. I'm probably going to ask her to return it first (the broken DS Lite) so she can't possibly switch the serial number sticker or anything.

Just thought I'd update:

The bitch that was trying to scam me for a DS Lite appears to have dropped her case. The return I initiated is still open, but she has not contacted me in over 2 weeks. I'm hoping the return is dropped completely. I'm just surprised people try this shit, and Amazon allows it.

Speaking of googling ebay addresses. I got a live one me thinks. Paypal address doesn't match the verified address. When you search the address there is yet another name and the guy is a registered sex offender with a history of dealing in stolen goods. Also the tell tale sign of a dorment account suddenly spending hundreds.Tried to warn ebay and paypal last night, but was told it's OK to send. Guess ebay will just raise fees to cover all their loss on fraud.

I sold a legit copy of Pokemon Fire Red on Amazon and the buyer e-mailed me telling me he was pissed I sent him a fake and wanted me to take care of it or he'd contact Amazon and leave me bad feedback. I asked some questions to get more info before telling him that I know 100% is wasn't fake, but he got pissed that I didn't immediately refund his money and opened an A-Z case.  Amazon refunded his money but found that I wasn't at fault so I didn't have to pay him. The buyer left me negative feedback and I'm sure he won't remove it and Amazon's feedback removal policy doesn't cover this scenario. Anyone aware of anything else I can do about this?  By refunding his money, Amazon is just enabling scammers to continue screwing with sellers.

That's selling on Amazon for you. I'd send a feedback removal request to Amazon, since it can't hurt to try, even if it's not "covered" by their policies. Sometimes you'll get a seller support person that will use common sense to determine that the feedback is fabricated bullshit, especially based on the history of the transaction in question.

Already tried that through their automated system and it was declined. I spoke to someone on the phone earlier who created a case and escalated it to a supervisor. Hoping to hear back in 1-2 days.

They did a bank reversal on a game they bought from me, I called eBay and Paypal and they said I should be fine as they are investigating the buyer for suspicious activity as they initiated over 200 bank reversals today and as long as I can provide Delivery Confirmation I should be covered. However, I do not understand how someone can commit that many bank reversals and still be an eBay member.
