Almost thought you were snakeybro
If I was expecting anyone to spend real money on it maybe. It's a brand new game though and it's on sale at $6.99. Lots of people probably have that in rewards. So they could get it free after rewards, like we all did with The Bureau ;)

I'd think about it if it wasn't published by KISS. But it is, so it's bundle fodder.

In another news, I got Newcomer. This one takes a little longer to get.

Basically, you have to finish the first three levels of story mode. Level 1 is easy, but Level 2 and 3 are a little more difficult. I really can't give a guide on how to beat the levels, but if you have any specific questions, just message me on Steam. I'm gonna go earn the Al Emmo achievements in the meantime.

Ok, snakeybro. Whatever you say.

So you're advocating paying full MSRP?

Worst Deals Thread EVER!!!

Anyone wanna play some Fistful of Frags?
I'm down for some either right now or later after Squirrel's Grid event

Edit:

Also, anyone have issues running Al Emmo? It starts up fine and the intro plays fine, but when I actually get to the first act everything I click (dialogue, looking at items) just flashes on my screen so fast I can't read a thing.

No idea. Running fine for me, and it's a dated as fuck game too. The dev is somewhat active in the forums, try there?

Also, are you running Windowed or Full Screen?

#FAKECAG!!!!

I had to do windowed and then it is working fine but goodness is it dated. Will try to slog through at least one achievement.
I think it's from '98, but yeah, it's apparently very short (you can speedrun it in 2 hours), so I'm gonna try and finish it. I'll probably need a break though, so clunky/slow.

Also, as for the people reporting others to Playfire, damn that's just cold and vindictive.

It took me four and a half months to get my Playfire account to even start working correctly. Personally I don't use SAM but I don't mind if others do, everyone has freedom of choice. Let the rewards flow where they may. It's hard enough to get Playfire rewards to sync, track, and transfer reliably so why on CAG would someone want to take that away from someone else? I could see NeoGaffers turning on each other or resulting in cannibalistic behavior, but hopefully that isn't the case here on CAG, dammit. :nottalking:

I've been told more times than I'd like that I'm too nice to people, and reporting people snitching just isn't something I find as a moral obligation to better society. Also, I'm sure CAGs only make up a very small percentage of Playfire reward hunters anyway, and reporting CAGs isn't going to solve anything in the end.

/end rant

On a complete personal tangent, during my last on the side free lance job my boss called me in and said, "Goddammit. You're just too damn nice, you know that? That's your weakness. We're going to have to let you go. ...but also because we don't have any more work for you." He always was a dry sarcastic son of a bitch. Whether that dry humor was serious or just his way of lightening the tone of a serious conversation, will forever be a mystery. I think he's divorced now anyhow, so... :D/ (don't worry he didn't have any kids)

So I'm about done with Al Emmo, and it's an alright game. I do not recommend going the Playfire Rewards past Voyeur and maybe Spin Doctor (you can only get Spin Doctor over halfway through the game).

Completionist is a nightmare as there's a million things you can miss. You'll definitely need a walkthrough and multiple save points.

I can provide detailed explanations for Voyeur and Spin Doctor if anyone's actually interested (doubtful). But you're on your own for Completionist, had to dig up the only two walkthroughs that exist for this game anywhere.

Here's the two guides I referenced:

http://www.gamefaqs.com/pc/932543-al-emmo-and-the-lost-dutchmans-mine/faqs/51963

http://www.gamesover.com/Al_Emmo/Al_Emmo_and_the_Lost_Dutchman%27s_Mine_full.htm

GamesOver is better for the missable stuff, I noticed, but I found the GameFAQs one first.

This is the one I used: http://www.gameboomers.com/wtcheats/pcAa/AlEmmo.htm

Anyway, I'm pretty sick this weekend and have no energy to deal with these achievements.

I did the voyeur one for Al Emmo, but don't feel like putting in time to get to the casino to do the next one. I don't see how someone could do this in 2 hours.

Tried Millenium and immediately knew I didn't have the patience to play it.

I did one of the Battle Block Theatre ones. Thought I did the Theater Critic one, but it seems glitched for some people (myself included). The first one I had already unlocked during beta so no credit.

I suck at Fistful of Frags so that one is out of the question and Rush Bros is indeed a steaming pile of crap so I know I won't be getting many, if any, of those. Maybe if I get better soon I'll give Rush Bros a second try.

Yeah, the one you linked is pretty much the same as the GameFAQs one, as in, it doesn't list most of the missables.

And the dev said to speedrun it in about an hour you had to skip all the dialogue.

Anyways, you don't need to speedrun it for any of the Playfire achievements, so it doesn't matter.

I'll be trying for Millennium today/tomorrow. I think after that, I don't have any more achievement rewards to earn for a while besides Doom 3 and Rush Bros.

As for the Fistful of Frags achievement rewards, all but the first one are easily boosted with one other person. The first one is the hardest to boost because you need two other people, not just one, but it's doable.

Yeah, I think I'm just going to take a few days off and try the Doom 3 ones (all of those seems pretty straight forward) and the Dark Scavenger play for the first time. Hopefully we get some better ones next week. I hate anything that is MP based or anything that is finicky, mostly because I'm usually not good enough to get them. I think after enjoying so many of the ones last week, this week's games just sort of sucked to me.

I'm not sure if this'll help either of you two (Bobby/Fox) or anyone else reading this, but here's some tidbits I can pass on about Rush Bros.

  • Master dashing/jumping out of a dash (B on the Xbox pad). The sooner you do this, the sooner the time trials will become easier. Simply put, dashing is much quicker than running  jogging like a sissy; and dash jumping is quicker and jumps farther than the flatfoot variant (though understand that dash jump comes at a cost of a lower arc and thus it's easier to impale yourself low if incorrectly judged).

  • I found the longer time trials (1:30+) easier then the shorter ones where one mistake/death will derail the entire thing.

  • Stay away from the achievement "Hardest to kill". That's all I'll say. Also, unless you're a masochist, I would strongly advise saving "Chimera" till last or till never.

  • "Converting Vegetarians" is theoretically easy to grab, you just need to A: watch a video to find the location of the brain (it's in the second level, "Acid Skips", you need double jump from the middle part of the level and are then required to run backwards to the beginning of the level before the power-up wears off to jump over the acid pond), and B: you'll likely need to run it a handful of times until you have the proper speed. The only thing here that makes this a PITA (and it kinda is) is that you really have to haul ass with that double jump.

  • If going for "5-Star Start-Up" two things to take into account: one is that you'll want to take that left path at the beginning; two is that ignoring what I said above, at the end of the level you'll arrive at a path with a weighted switch that'll lock you into a room near the far right forcing you back to the left, up, then back to the right; screw that whole scenario entirely and just land on the switch and quickly dash into the spikes on your right, you'll respawn upstairs none the worse for wear (and likely 2-3 seconds quicker).

  • "You're Tearing Me Apart" is the most confusing piece of shit cheevo in this bunch, but is quite easy actually. Here's a quick cheat sheet:
Down, Right, Down, Right, Green Key, Up, Left, Down, Left, Left (slide past opposite) pillars if necessary), Open Green Door, Down, Right, Right (another T pair of pillars going opposite ways, just slide), Down, Right, now you'll be in a big red room with a big red saw, jump over it and IGNORE the red key in the corner, instead just hit the spring and bypass the rest of the level by going UP against the down pillars (it works, believe me), and to your Right, level over.

That's all I can think of at the moment. Hope that helps someone.

Quick question since I'm posting this off-topic crap, is it worth it to pick up vanilla X-com this sale for what amounts to $8 (after coupon, I'd buy it with The Bureau) in funny money or is the complete pack that just came out the better wait?

You'll get the first one just playing the game on a full server for a while.

My tips for Fistful of Frags..

To best use the pistols, don't ironsight. It's much more accurate to stand still for a split second till the sights narrow to the smallest size before you shoot.

Learn where the 3 chests are on each map. The Gold one has the pump shotgun, the best weapon in the game and the Sharp's sniper rifle. The red one has the Coach shotgun, second best gun but you have to reload after two shots, and the Henry repeating rifle, you can keep shooting while the gun is sighted with this one.

Teamwork is important, stick with a couple of teammies wherever you can.

Has anybody's FoF achievements gotten Playfire rewards? Mine haven't. I've noticed I don't seem to get anything for the free games, actually. Not the last few I can think of, anyway.

Yup, I've got two from it so far

Edit: Looking at it I first played it on the 16th, it's taken two days to show up and get credit for it.

I haven't received mine for first time played yet. Sometimes it just takes a day or two though so I'll wait. Archeblade took some time. If I don't have it by tomorrow I'll start a support ticket I guess.

Playfire achievements are getting me to actually PLAY the games I buy :)
I've been pretty busy this year. I'd decided ahead of time that I wanted to average beating one game per week for the year. Currently I'm at 21 and today begins that week, so I'm actually a week ahead right now...should be beating Dante's Inferno quite soon as well. The only tricky part is balancing what I really want to play versus the time available. Sometimes I'll play a short and longer game at the same time to maintain my average since I don't play all that much during the week.

Revolvers don't have ironsights. Holding the aim (it's actually the secondary fire button, but it's aim for rifles) button allows you to "fan" a revolver.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GYlXkniSxGM

This is deadly and the closest thing to "spray and pray" that most modern shooting games have. With good aim and control, fanning can kill anyone before they have the chance to react. Your advice about slowing down/standing still for accuracy is valid though. Crosshairs are brutally inaccurate in this game unless you take very careful shots.

Also, don't forget about the Colt Walker in gold chests, and the Peacemaker in red ones. The Colt Walker is the strongest weapon in the game. Yes, stronger than even the pump shotgun, used properly. The Walker has about the same hitting power as the Smiths Carbine, which is a one hit kill to the chest, back, or stomach (and obviously the head). That means you can theoretically kill 6 enemies with the Walker without having to reload. It's downside is a very, very slow reload time.

The Peacemaker is similar to the Walker, just not as powerful. Still a very strong revolver, especially if you're dual-wielding it with something else, like a sawed off shotgun.

I have, but I got them days ago. Sometimes if you get achievements within the last 24 hours or so, Playfire simply won't pick them up in time, and you HAVE to contact Playfire to get the credits.

I earned two of them with idiot with the other day and got credit for them. Got the last one on my own, but I took too long so Playfire didn't scan in time (gotta send 'em a ticket).

Yup, me too. I think Fistful is a game a lot of us would have skipped and now look at us, we've got some experts on it on here. I'm sure I'll be playing much more of it once I have a better GPU to make it not look like hot garbage.

PASS THE WHISKEY!!!

WOW, I just got the Hipin-Hopper achievement in Rush Bros FIRST TRY.

It took me a bazillion times to get the time trial achievement on the first level, so I'm really damn surprised I somehow pulled this one off first try.

Wow, think that took me at least a hundred tries (same with the first one). If you don't have it, try the one on Level Red, thought that was one of the easiest of the achievements so far (Nope Nope Nope was also pretty easy).

I'm going through them one at a time. I just got the Aquarium stage one (Hold Your Breath), so fucking hard. Over and over and over... and then somehow I did it in 38.500 seconds... when I only had to beat 45. That put me #85 on the global leaderboards.

Four down, too many to go.

Well shit, I didn't know you could do that.

Now I'm kicking even more ass.

I got my first "aimbot" accusation tonight. I was camping the bank roof with the sniper rifle =D

People hate dat. I had a 16 streak up there once, and about 5 of those were people trying to sneak up behind me, lol.

I wonder what the purpose of these Rush Bros rewards are. Obviously, to fluff their play statistics, but what is the end game?
Obviously, to piss me off. Rush Bros has the worst control ever. You can't have input lag in a game like this.

I can tolerate Super Meat Boy because the control is excellent, but this is awful.

I'm stuck with a few to go (not including the don't die ones, rather avoid the rage induced heart attack). Most were either a 2-3 try and done or a "don't screw up a run," type. The latter being the most annoying.
