I actually got to see the Red Sox last week at Target Field. A manager surprised a group of us with suite tickets to celebrate a new app release and we walked down to the game immediately after that. I love working close to a ballpark. And holy fuck do I love watching a ball game from a suite. Especially when I'm getting paid for it.

Also, Big Papi looked a lot slimmer and leaner in person than I expected. That was surprising.
 
After going back to MLB 14 on ps3, it looks pretty weak. So many jaggies and no real time lighting or beards, lol. almost looks like im playing a Vita game ;o    Oh yea, I used the Red Sox and I lost by 4 runs to the Braves, Clay Bucholz sucks.

2 more hrs till Wolfenstein is out!  PS3 with dem low res textures, damn son

More GB = better. ps4 wolfenstein may be better than ps3 wolfenstein, but ps3 wolfenstein is better than microsoft office. and microsoft office is better than octodad. good thing these companies gave us simple units of measurement so we can easily gauge quality.
 
Anyone of the mind that Crimson Gem Saga or Hexyz Force are worth a playthrough? From what I've seen there isnt much to make them stand out for any particular reason. CGS at least looks pretty, but does its story ever become a highlight at all?

Are you asking because you're considering buying them or because they're in your backlog? They're both solid RPGs but nothing remarkable. Hexyz Force lets you play as two different characters for separate storylines. CGS is actually a Korean RPG - Korean art is prettier than Japanese if you look at games like Aion, Magna Carta 2, Blade & Soul. I liked it because it's challenging. Have you played Legend of Dragoon before? When you time your button press with your attack, you do additional attacks. So at least this one keeps you on your toes instead of cycling through menus like other RPGs.

Considering buying. You may have just sold me on CGS just from name dropping Legend of Dragoon. Challenge doesn't hurt either, and at the end of the day its still nice to look at.

 
Oh, you have played Legend of Dragoon. If I remember correctly, all of your attacks could be followed up with more attacks. That's not the case in CGS. Your characters only do it sometimes - you'll be prompted to hit the X button to follow up. The story is a bit silly but the production values are top notch: great graphics, good voice acting, etc.

I'd didn't call it so much as pass it on - and I only did that because it seemed legit and given it was about a sale seemed relevant to this site.

The 'best of' gaf (be it leaks, rumors, or gifs) will spill out to the rest of the gaming internet. It happens to be particularly good with leaks because they perma-ban anyone who they can't verify or who doesn't come through on a regular basis. Also because many game devs are on the site, either in the open or anonymously. For example, the lead of driveclub posts in the driveclub thread. There's lots of interesting stuff that never makes it out, though, which makes it worth reading for me.

It's also got one of the best vita communitys on the net, which is nice. It's multinational so you get to hear about possible imports and/or localizations, which is something threads like this one don't really get into as much.

sure, there's lots of filler and stupid slang and whatever, but hey, i'm sure outsiders to this thread feel pissed on by slidecages too. It's natural for any insulated group to develop slang and inside jokes that make little sense to outsiders. However, gaf isn't particulary meanspirited, which is nice. It's more just having to deal with people writing 'dat' and 'shook' too much. I'm already well practiced at ignoring stuff like that from skipping over jrpg dialog so it's not a problem for me.

I'd recommend it to anyone who likes dungeon crawlers. I think it would also make a pretty good introduction to the genre, it's fairly straightforward and the extra mechanics (like summoning captured demons) is easy to grasp.

The big caveat is that if a couple risque scenes will ruin your breakfast, skip it. But overall? It's not much, and i think most of them have opt out options (like, you can tell someone to keep their clothes on... i have no idea if that actually works though). And even if you don't, you're not actually getting to see any actual nudity or anything like that, just a risque still art and maybe some goofily naughty dialog about how you 'spend the night together."

Pros -- generally solid lewt system, solid sense of progression, great skills, solid class system, demon mechanic is really cool, monster art is generally really cool, bosses can be tough, trash mobs can be auto-killed by a nicely set up group (speed through dungeons).

Cons -- I'm not into the 'anime' look for dungeon crawlers, i much prefer tolkien fantasy. goofy jrpg plot / subplots written like all other jrpgs (ie, goofy). auto-map kind of kills the complexity of dungeons -- there are some really cool teleport/spinner dungeons that become really easy with the map staring you in the face.

plat was easy -- you basically just need to beat it on any skill level (there are 4, i played on hardest and had no real issues till post game bosses) . only 4 pain in the ass trophies -- 2 collectables which were easy to grab with an online list combined with auto-move to coordinate function via map), and then 2 rare weapon drops that were kind of a pain in the ass but nothing compared to, say, D*Souls or the more recent No heroes allowed.

Recommended.

So, The Last of Us - has anyone actually resisted [customspoiler="not really a spoiler but whatever"]turning around their first time through that opening scene when you're running up the hills after you get out of the town?   "They're getting closer!"[/customspoiler]

Additionally, doesn't it seem like a lot of times the people that do these gameplay walkthroughs on youtube are really terrible at whatever they're playing?

Even though its nice to tag everything, my general rule would be any media released over 6 months ago cant really be spoiled any longer. Its my own damn fault if I really dont want to have anything spoiled for me at that point.
