PlayStation Plus – 2 Titles Per Month for PS4, PS3, PS Vita

  • Trine 2: Complete Story (PS4)
  • Pixeljunk Shooter Ultimate (PS4)
  • NBA 2K14 (PS3)
  • Sly Cooper: Thieves in Time (PS3)
  • Terraria (PS Vita)
  • Mutant Mudds Deluxe (PS Vita)
I big hearty "fuck yes!" to that list.

Have Terraria on PS3 but never play it. And loved the shit out of Mutant Mudds on my departed 3DS. Happy to get both in the go for free now.

And Sly & NBA will also get good play. One of the best months for me since I joined.

Makes sense to go that direction as the PS4 library grows. Hopefully that's a prelude to retail PS4 games on Plus. Still would have rather had Dragon's Crown for Vita but as a whole a much better lineup than anything else we've seen as a possibility I think.

"Since we’ve seen how excited many of you are to download Instant Game Collection titles as soon as they’re available, we’ve decided to adjust the length of time each title will be available. Starting in July, every title in the Instant Game Collection will be available the first Tuesday of the month, and will be free for the month, until the first Tuesday of the following month, taking the guesswork out of how long the game will be available for free. In the coming weeks, you’ll see that several of the titles that have had a nice, long stint in the Instant Game Collection will be phased out, so if you’re new to the service and haven’t had a chance to download all of the titles available through PS Plus — or if you’ve been thinking about subscribing but haven’t yet — now is the perfect time to get all the great games available with PS Plus."

So everything the first Tuesday of the month.

I've got a cart version of Sly Cooper for Vita. I guess I sell it and put the funds toward the PS4. I like that PS+ lineup quite a bit! Only digital one I have is Terraria. And two more PS4 games for my near future PS4? Awesome!

Literally this list couldn't be any better.  I think I would take Mutant Mudds and Terraria (Vita) over Dragon's Crown and Surge Deluxe.

PS3-wise I just sold my retail copy of Sly for PS3 so this is perfect.  Already have the Vita version via crossbuy.  NBA 2K14 looks good.

PS4 - I fuck ing love Trine but Trine 2's trophies pissed me off because they were so easy.  So excited to play the game again with a real trophy list.  PixelJunk is great as well!

Looking forward to the 2/2/2 lineup, that is just a shit-ton of games.  I picked the perfect time to buy my PS4 as well.

So happy!

Entering PS Plus: EU

4th June: Pixeljunk Shooter Ultimate (Cross Buy)
4th June: Trine 2: The Complete Story
4th June: NBA 2K14
4th June: Lone Survivor (Cross Buy)
4th June: Dragon’s Crown
4th June: Surge Deluxe

Makes sense to go that direction as the PS4 library grows. Hopefully that's a prelude to retail PS4 games on Plus. Still would have rather had Dragon's Crown for Vita but as a whole a much better lineup than anything else we've seen as a possibility I think.
I'm with you on Dragon's Crown (would've greatly preferred that for Terraria), but otherwise, this is a great list. I'm with tyler- I'm especially excited for Mutant Mudds Deluxe on Vita- I've heard nothing but great things.

I haven't purchased or played any game on the list so far, and this will be the first month where I actually own a PS4 when I "purchase" the PS4 IGC games, so I'm excited about it!

Also- awesome that they're going to start releasing all IGC games on one day, though it will make the rest of the month seem barren, at least free game/IGC-wise...

Anyone know if Terraria is cross-save? Stopped playing it on my PS3. Would be cool to replay it on my Vita without having to start over.

Yup, starting in July, so June's games will still be weekly. I actually like the weekly releases but monthly works for me as well.

How is your PS4? Brand new, no issues with the packaging or anything?

Seriously guys, I can't wait to relive the Bucks awesome 13-14 season on NBA 2K14. Greek Freak gonna work it out.

Announcing when free rentals will come on and leave is great.  If they would just announce a standard time frame of when the store would uipdate we could have even less guesswork.

At the end of the day we are all winners here as most of us paid well under MSRP for Plus and even if we had paid the full $50 a year we would have so much value.  I dont know how Sony is making money from this.

The blog post, especially this line, suggests to me that there aren't going to be any "evergreen" titles anymore:

Awesome month for IGC, only game I own is Sly and that was a fun game. It is pretty easy, but some of the coolest graphics on PS3. love the cell-shaded look. Excited for Trine 2 on PS4. Beat it on PC, but loved it. Guess those "leaked images" were fake.

Bad news, unless I'm misreading this:

There will only be six PS+ games available at any time. Not 18 or so like we've had for two years now. Evergreen titles are over with now.

How's that bad news? You've got a month to download them or even redeem them and they all are available at the same time.

And for those interested in PS+, this might be a push to get people on board rather than waiting around.

Awesome list btw. With the 3 annual IGC games wonder if we'll still see knack or killzone

Yeah, I am not sure how the evergreen titles were better than just having 6 that rotate. Frisky, whats your thinking on that?

I think that's what Frisky is referring to. It sounds like they may be phasing out those 3 annual games instead of replacing them. Maybe there will be another announcement, but that's how many people are taking that wording.

The blog post, especially this line, suggests to me that there aren't going to be any "evergreen" titles anymore:
yeah, that was a near certainity with the 2/2/2 setup. fine by me, the evergreens are only interesting if you aren't a ps+ devotee.

I think the move to 2 x ps4 titles also nearly guarantees it being an indie delivery service for the time being. which is fine by me. maybe knack in q1 of '15, but I'm not really sure why anyone expects them to give away retail titles any time soon. they haven't in the first 6 months and the one retail title planned for ps+ (driveclub) is a neutered version, not the full game.

PlayStation Plus – 2 Titles Per Month for PS4, PS3, PS Vita

  • Trine 2: Complete Story (PS4)
  • Pixeljunk Shooter Ultimate (PS4)
  • NBA 2K14 (PS3)
  • Sly Cooper: Thieves in Time (PS3)
  • Terraria (PS Vita)
  • Mutant Mudds Deluxe (PS Vita)
Awesome! Gone from an expected month where I had everything but the PS4 game to one where I only have played Sly.

nO Batman or Re6
Good (unless the Batman one was the PS3 version since I had played the Vita one). I played RE6 already and would not wish that on my enemies.

I big hearty "fuck yes!" to that list.
Agreed!

Well Sly Cooper free rental may get in the way of that. hmmm.

So guys which should I start next? Sly or R and C trilogy?
If you want more stealth with your platforming, Sly. If you want more shooting with your platforming, R&C.

There are no more annual games. Everything that is available is only available for one month at a time, so we go from ~18 games in the IGC to 6. Newbies better join now or die.

It's not a big deal for vets, but newbies have less of a backlog up front now. Plus, my contest for guessing the yearly titles is canceled due to the news, not that anybody was close to being right.

What the fuck is an evergreen title?

Excited for the PS+ List.
Trine 2: I think they gave this away before for the PS3, but it wasn't the complete story and I never got around to play it.
NBA2k14: Finally I can give this a shot to see if I want to buy next years installment.
Pixel Junk: Never ever played a Pixel Junk game, so this should be interesting.
Sly: Finished it and still have the Vita version from crossbuy.
Terraria and Mutant Mudds are both games I passed on and now I finally have the chance.

Glad that you and I are comprehending this the same way. Though I don't think it's bad news. Only 6 games available per month works for me and I'd assume everyone in this thread because we're all on top of downloading all of them as soon as possible.

Evergreens going away kinda sucks because they were big games, but honestly NBA 2K14 is evergreen quality anyway, and I'm sure we'll get more in the coming months anyway.

I think having less games available at one time is actually better, that way Sony doesn't have to pay more for those titles that are on there for months at a time.

Yes, Terraria has cross-save. But note that the saves have to be in the same slot on PS3 and Vita. So if you start a save in slot 1 on Vita and then decide you want to play your PS3 slot 1 save on Vita, you're out of luck unless you're willing to wipe out the Vita save in that slot. Or something like that. Actually maybe this isn't quite right. It's something like that, though.

I'm not saying it's bad like it's time to sell all of my PS consoles bad, but that's not great news either. Its the downside to the new format. I look forward to PS Blog bitching about where the new PS+ games are at in the off weeks.

Trine 2 CS' arrival signals the start of backlog PS4 offerings, which is good for the Knack naysayers.

Not quite all of us. Though I suppose that one has gone *poof* so maybe it is all of us after all!

That Ratchet & Clank Vita collection… so I read that it's being done by the same folks that did the Jak & Dexter Vita collection. Hmm. Actually I've never played the latter, but have not heard good things about it.

Additionally, I expect (based on recent interface changes) that there will be some sort of PS+ tie in with PS Now - it now knows whether or not you 'own' something digitally (the icon changes as if you'd purchased it on the store) and I suspect it'll be advertised as a form of backwards compatibility for ps3 games on ps4 (since you could buy the digital title for ps3 and 'free rent'/stream it to your ps4). So, in theory, they could make some games 30 day free rentals as part of the PS+ IGC or free weekly rentals or whatever.

Not that I would know first hand, that's what my friend told me. His name is Alex. You can totally call him to verify. Hopefully they'll delve in to that more at E3 since PS Now works extraordinarily well for Alex.

I just signed up for a trial to do just that. I'll need to find some sort of cheap sub.

Chris will be along to answer questions soon, but just to clarify, the annual ‘evergreen’ titles will not be replaced. Instead, you’ll be getting one additional PS4 game every month. So, 2 x PS3, 2 x PS4 and 2 x Vita each month for the foreseeable future.

By selling 7 million consoles. There's no doubt in my mind that PS+ helped convert more than a few gamers to Sony.
And brought some back in the fold. I started out with a PS3 last round. Switched over to mostly XBox360 the last 2 or 3 years. Grabbed PS+ in July of last year for $40. Also grabbed a $30 card on Black Friday. Found it a great value even for me who is a bit more of a casual gamer then most of you guys. Picked up a PS4 at launch and a Vita a few weeks later. And will likely rebuy a PS3 sooner or later (sold my previous one it sounded like a jet). I let my Live run out in Jan and sold my XBox 360 last week. I don't want to pay for both Live and PS+. PS+ was/is a better value for me. It wasn't just PS+ that made me go with a PS4 but it certainly factored in.

Well no annual games I guess isn't great for newbies, but for old timers I don't know it seemed a bit silly to have these games sitting there month after month for me to stare at that I already have "purchased". 6 games a month over a year is 72 games. Not sure how many people could really be "upset" about that for $50-$60 or $30 in our case :) If anything it's still the best value out there for the money. I won't complain as I figured Sony would eventually play with the structure. I already have way more games than I can even touch.

As for this month it is awesome!

I have Sly on Vita (got it via PS3 disc and sold PS3 disc) so now I'll have it on both.

Don't have Terraria so I'll take it (or anything really on Vita)

Mutant Mudds I have on the inferior 3DS which I never play and played some but never finished so YEAH for Vita version.

I was wondering why Trine 2 for PS4 wasn't on sale when the PS3 version was so I'm down.

Don't know much about Pixel Junk Shooter but I'll take it.

Only dud for me is NBA since I had the PS4 version and played but since sold off. Overall awesome month!

I dont think that quote means what you think. I thought the same until I followed the link and read what he was replying to. If you do that, I think it just verifies that evergreens are going away for EU just like we expect here.

Not gonna lie. I'm a little sad the NBA PS3 version doesn't have the half court shot trophy because I was hoping we'd get daily updates and videos again from Eldritch.

I thought it seemed unlikely and was just weird wording but I couldn't get the page to come up on my phone. I'm glad I finally did because of the first comment right below it.

OK I was happy now im angry this essentially is a kick in the teeth

6 games a month from here on out works for me.  At $30/year spent for the 2 years I have left thus far, that's $1.25/month divide by 6, about 21 cents a game.  Not like I'll ever play them all anyway.

What I really can't wait for is when they reduce the # of PS3 games to 1 and then none.  Boy, will there be a lot of wet diapers on those days.

Seriously, I hate most of these wankers/hosers/hipsters.

Not surprising considering MS' recent push with GWG. Looks like this is Sony's retaliation. It's good to see some healthy competition again.

That really blows, but I've always had a feeling PS+ was gonna decline in quality once it was required for MP for PS4. Seems like this is a big step in that direction. The glory days are over fellas.
