PlayStation 4 - General Discussion Thread

I don't post often but I thought I would chime in.

I think the statement said the vita had a more 'appealing" collection compared to the ps4. you don't have to agree with that, but I think the vita has more variety and better titles on a whole (at the moment). I am aware it has been out significantly longer, but it is still a truth.

I am thoroughly enjoying my ps4 and vita. I enjoy the indie/niche titles a lot, but I can also see how some people can dismiss them.  the ps4 (and xbox one) are going to have amazing libraries in the not too distant future.

so yeah, I did not really add anything to this debate/argument...it just seems like a silly one to be having.

And PS3 has a better library, and PS2 has a better library.... just saying it is comparing apples and oranges.

 
no doubt, that is what I was posting in a not so straight to the point way. I was just saying that his argument on "appealing" should not be battled with just a list of games. the usual quality/quantity argument.

I do have a question regarding the ps4 gold headset. has there been any word on the price point coming down at all? also for those that have them, is this the best route to go in the 100 price point. wireless is not a huge factor since my media room is not large, so a wired headset would also be fine. I have no expertise with headphones so any advice would be appreciated.

 
Regarding headsets - are there any decent ones that are like the basic xbox 360 headset? One ear and no game sound over the headset (game sound on the TV). I actually prefer that.

well if that's all you need the one that comes with system my work for you, but it's an ear bud headset. Nice thing about the PS4 is you can set whether game sound comes out or not.

I have a cheap ear and mike thing my wife bought me at christmas before I got my golds.

Thats it there. Think it was 15-20 at the time she bought it.

That being said, i got a pair of golds off the awd for 70ish and love them. Had to get 3 different pairs (other 2 were missing the wireless dongle) but worth the effort.

I had that one too but found it terribly uncomfortable. I ended up buying the Turtle Beach X22 which is less than the golds, but I like those just fine...

 
Anyone have any personal experience as to whether the PS4 has a universal power supply? Am getting ready to move from the US to the UK and just trying to figure out whether it's coming with me--info online is flat out contradictory. The manual indicates it is not, but I've also seen photos online of people cracking open the system and the power supply says it is universal. Would prefer not to open mine to check but also don't want to risk nuking it by just using a plug adapter.... Crazy how hard it is to confirm this online. Thoughts very welcome.
 
I know all 3 are multiplatform, but I can't believe no one has mentioned Lego Marvel, Need For Speed Rivals, or NBA 2K14. They are all excellent on PS4.

Many sources are beginning to say The Last Guardian has been cancelled. Given that this news suddenly comes in the day before E3 I wouldn't be surprised if Sony is just planting some false rumors to throw a Smack down surprise at their Conference.

You find it completely coincidental that a massively hyped game is seemingly given a cancellation rumor just one day before E3? Not to mention this isn't even confirmation this is just one website saying "Their Sources have said".

Maybe I'm just being optimistic. Would seem like a massive shock if this game got cancelled given how long Sony has been teasing and how much fan hype there's been for it.

Fair argument, but I still feel like this game is done for.

 
If TLG is canned parts of me are happy as the founder of the company left the studio.... after that happened I had very little hope that the game would have as much impact or be nearly as good as their previous games.

I'm annoyed with the years of teasing and don't want to hear a thing about it unless they are officially confirming it's a full go.  Sony, please stop playing with our hearts. I'm not amused.

It has happened before. There were rumors that David Jaffe was going to be at E3 to show off a new Twisted Metal game but he denied the rumors and at the end of Sony E3 press conference there he was with Twisted Metal for the PS3. Jaffe said he did it so people can be surprised and not have E3 spoiled before hand.

I must be the only person in the whole world that couldn't possibly care less about TLG. I really don't get the hype around it at all.

It's because ICO and Shadow of the Colossus were great games and were something different than alot of what was out at the time.

TLG looked to be at least a spiritual if not directly related to those two games.

Nope I'm with you, the only reason I hope they show it is to shut a lot of people up and bring more hype to the PS4.

Does anyone think this was a way of IGN trying to fish out E3 surprises, at the very least it put the IGN name in a lot of headlines. I think Sony should have just let the cancelled rumour swirl out there rather than commenting that it wasn't cancelled then when it's revealed let IGN look like idiots.

for me the last bad e3 was the year both sony and ms spent 80 percent of the press conf on move/kinect. This year we pretty much know what games we will be seeing and excited to see gameplay for those games.

I know if Microsoft drops the ball in any way there are going to be a lot of Xbox fans saying that. Most of them think this show is the shot in the arm the Xbox needs and some even think Microsoft will have the dominant position after tomorrow. It's going to be fun and interesting to see if Xbox fans are rejoicing and worshiping Phil Spencer as their lord and savior, which some are already doing, or if they will be bitter wiping away all those salty tears.

I think MS will have the better show, they have been on point the last couple of months and have great momentum going in. Im still excited to see Sony's show and more of Project Beast, that game alone will make me buy a ps4 if its indeed an exclusive.

 
It seems like the main purpose of E3 now is to tell us what's coming in the fall and not so much about what's coming years from now. My main hope for Sony is that they continue the transition from PS3 to PS4 and show off some good games. Hopefully JRPGs like Tales and NISA titles start making the transition over to PS4 at E3 this year. 

I'd also like a pink DS4, a rear usb hub and external HDD support.

Difference is Microsoft has only been on point for a couple months, Sony on the other hand has been on point since February last year. The only edge Microsoft has is a warchest of money, let's see if they use it.

 
I keep hearing about all this momentum Microsoft has going into E3 but ive only heard it from the huge Xbox Fans on this site lol.

They are doing a lot of good things now but its not really building them a lot of hype and goodwill.

would not really call big hype seeing no company seems to have any major hype at this point. With that said ms has been getting on news head lines with all the flips they have done since e3 and now with the 399 system to match sony. this year seems like it's all about 3rd party titles and not sure how that helps either one this fall seeing most games can still be played on 360/ps3.

neogaf has alot of ms hype so not just this site. Plus i have been seeing 399 x1 ads for last week or so every tv break i see.

What happens if Sony outsells MS in June... July... and August? Will MS still have momentum because you say so?
