You seem to be confusing everything else with Polygon.

Kotaku's not exactly high brow and I'd get most of my gaming news elsewhere, but they've got some content worth reading. While Patricia is trying to horn in on the Polygon misogyny beat, most of their stuff is still gender war free.

Hernandez, Schreier, and Totilo are all hacks. I'd rather not load a site that's almost certainly going to be shameless clickbait when I just want news. That's not even mentioning how they all took the same class on how to make gifs so now every single article will have a 14mb gif loading in the header and another two or three in the article even if it's just a paragraph about some cat eating corn via youtube. It's a shit gaming site, and the entirety of Gawker (save for Deadspin) should just be tossed in the trash. The only reason I still enjoy going there is to rile up the SJWs in the comment section.

I highly recommend listening to the third link I put up there if you've never heard it before. It's pretty great.

The super-only KOs was a big turn-off for me. I played it once and was so disappointed, but I love Smash Bros.

Gawker is on my block list. Polygon and Vox in general is too focused on making their website look fancy and two line 'articles'.

Oh, in case anyone was wondering, Another World sounds like it'll have a shared trophy list across all three platforms (emphasis added):

I woke up at 4:15 this morning and was able to get a little over an hour of Tomb Raider in before work. I'm really liking this idea, it's gonna help me crush my backlog. PS4 here I come.  :joystick:

Yeah, I've been meaning to reassess my morning routine to squeeze in gaming. I wake up at like 5 to exercise and whatnot before my kid gets up at 7. But gaming really does sound more fun than healthy living. Of course if I live a long time then I can possibly get through the backlog once I retire... Life is full of hard choices.

I don't know how long your workout routine is, but maybe workout in the evenings?

 
Jesus, working out?  That's a lot of work first thing in the morning.  I get up at 7... grab my phone (cause I'm taking calls) and shower/whatnot.  Then I work til who knows when at night (varies by day).  Watch 1-2 hrs of TV and head to bed around 11.  No time for any of that other stuff.

I workout for around 45 min a day Thursday- Sunday. I get off an hour earlier than normal on Thursday and Friday, and it's pretty easy to find 45 extra minutes on the weekend. I feel like a completely different person since I started working out.

I don't think I could possibly motivate myself to do any type of good work out after working all day. Not that anyone cares, but I've added a lot to my routine in the past few months and it takes me a little over an hour. I'm definitely not one of those fitness-y guys, but I'm probably in the best shape I've ever been in now and am to the point where I enjoy it and don't feel energized throughout the day if I skip it.

If you are actually interested just wake up an hour earlier. Any doctor will tell you 7 hours of sleep is just as good as 8. Plus you don't have to exercise, you can use that time to get through the backlog.

please name the last 12 games you got for $1 from a steam sale. I actually don't mean to be an ass even though it sounds like it - I've participated in a number of steam sales and I get that it's the great white hope of cheap gaming, but I feel like it's gotten to a point of hyperbole and I need a refresher. I don't remember ever seeing things for a buck. I remember indie / smaller titles in the $2.50 / $3 range and decently older AAA titles (gta4, bioshock) in the $5 range. newer AAA titles were never good deals in the grand scheme.

humble bundles on the other hand, holy cow. cheapness that makes steam blush as long as you're ok with spending the minimum.

from the sounds of it, not many people should be paying $12 for sorcery saga. if you'd rather get spacechem, dungeon defenders, universe sandbox and puzzle agent 2 you definitely should.

Those colored DS4's have been up since e3 when they put the Destiny bundle up. They also have a white Gold headset that's equally impressive as the DS4. I'm having a hard time not buying all that shit. The blue (and red when available) are off putting to me because of the half black design, they would look better a solid color (to me), which is what they did with the white.

Actually the white is not solid. I'm kind of iffy on it now. It's white and grey. It would look a lot better if it wasn't like that.

I was using a bit of hyperbole, but occasionally you do get some good games for under 3-5 bucks.  When you buy their massive packs you can get under the $2/game barrier (but you spend more than the $20 that I mentioned).  It all depends on how old you're willing to deal with.  But still, the POINT was that there was a major sale coming up wherein I could buy 3+ games for the price of 1+ (that I read was not liked by quite a few CAGs even though the metacritic in general is ok)

Space chem is awesome.  I loved that game.  it's the one where you make the chemical component by making an assembly line.

Edit:  I'm looking back through previous purchases and $3-4 bucks seems to be my Steam sweet spot for games.

I have nothing against steam or steam sales (which are as fun as sales can be), I think that people tend to exaggerate the insane cheapness of it, but people on the internet exaggerate everything.

and that's really the game? making an assembly line to make chemicals? huh. still better than the premise of men's room mayhem.

Yeah I tried it two the first two nights I had access to it and haven't been back. I think I am going to skip this one too. I liked BF4 somewhat but not feeling the cops and robbers. I might even try not to buy COD this year either. I have at least 3 games I am actually looking forward to between 9/9 and 11/18 and probably GTA5 too whenever that comes out (fall I think as well).

Its just like everything else. Its easy to hate. I just dont understand how everyone knows these people by name. I read reviews and news items from different sites and I rarely if ever look at who wrote it. Even if I do, I wouldnt remember that one time they wrote something they were wrong about 15 months prior.

Steam has great sales, but if you have multiple gamers in your house then the prices aren't quite as good. Everybody has to have their own copy. There's no sharing games between accounts like you can on consoles.

 
I got to a rage inducing part of Dead Nation PS4 last night. There is a kind of large, open elevator/lift thing that you hit the button and it doesn't go up, and then you get mobbed by zombies. And then you hit the button again and again it doesn't work and you get more zombies. And again. I run out of ammo for my good weapons and then I die. I suppose I should see if I can turn the difficulty down mid-game. Or maybe there is some trick I'm supposed to figure out that makes the lift work?

Stop hitting the button? It sounds like you're misinterpreting a "summon zombie mob" button for an elevator/lift call button. :dunce:

(In all seriousness, I don't know what the problem is, as I haven't played Dead Nation yet.)

IIRC, there is no trick. It's been awhile since I've played it, but I'm pretty sure there are 3 waves you have to go through before you can use the lift.

Sounds obvious, but did you check for strategies on playstationtrophies.org or psnprofiles? I remember that section being tough, but I got through it. Levels like that were intense and one of the reasons I loved the game. I dont remember being stuck for too long so I am sure you will get through it eventually. I wish I remembered what I did, but I dont so cant be much more help than that.

It's a very light grey. Just gives a bit of definition look to it I think. It's not such a stark black/blue contrast. I love it and will be buying. I'll post pics up for all you guys on the fence....but you're gonna want one :whistle2:

I used to go fairly crazy in steam sales, but the various bundle sites have built up my immunity to PC deals.

$1 a game is not unhead of, during the last summer sale I got the Fallout Collection (1+2+tactics) from steam for $2.99.
