This thread will maintain a list of all current and upcoming sales and markdowns on the Xbox Live Marketplace / Xbox Games Store for the USA.  YMMV in other regions.  If non-US sales are listed, they will be marked with their applicable region(s).

Please note:

  • You cannot currently buy any Xbox 360 content on xbox.com using your account balance, you can only use an active credit card or PayPal. To use your balance, you must make purchases on your console.  Unfortunately, even "purchasing" free content through the web site like trials requires an alternative method of payment tied to your account, though adding an empty MasterCard / Visa gift card that is registered for online purchases will work.  Xbox One games can be purchased on the web site with your account balance, but DLC cannot.
  • Some sales are intended for Gold subscribers only, as noted within each section.  This requires being a paid subscriber or within a console-activated "1 month complimentary Gold trial" account.  Neither 48 hour trials, 14 day trials nor free weekends qualify.
  • All known sales and information on sales should make their way into the OP. Major Nelson usually updates his blog with new sales information every other Tuesday.
  • ALL OFFERS ARE SUBJECT TO CHANGE! No information within this thread can or should be construed as accurate (or still valid), therefore ...
  • Always verify Xbox Live Marketplace prices before your purchase!
  • Spend wisely, have fun, and enjoy!

do the n64 banjo kazooie games ever go on sale?
just an FYI, I looked at my purchases and I bought Banjo Tooie on Dec 31, 2010 for $7.50. I haven't found the purchase for kazooie yet but it should be around the same time prob around the same amount. I don't know if it has gone on sale since.

I can't redeem anything lately, either.  They closed two of my accounts, too.  I believe it may have something to do with them not liking multiple accounts in one household.  I can't really complain, I had a good run.

Today it gave me fits when I tried to redeem. It kept asking for a phone number and it didn't like my cell or work numbers. I finally used someone else's phone to get the code and redeem the points.

All the Bing talk reminded me I have about 5000 points to burn. Usually do MS credit but debating Gamestop with some of it. Is the GS credit something you can only use online or is it something you can use in store as well?

I just save the Bing points for Swagbucks which I redeem for Amazon credit. That way, I make an extra 25-30 cents off of it and use my Amazon credit for Xbox cards. Right now I have $4 worth so if Microsoft stops with the 360 sales, I don't lose out on too many funds.

Street Fighter finished downloading. Weird how it was finished at 80% instead of 100%.

As someone who sucks at Street Fighter II and can only get through Level 2 difficulty, I am thrilled that Street Fighter IV allows you to see the end of a storyline on the easiest difficulty. I was pleasantly surprised to see Cody and Guy from Final Fight in this game.

By some miracle I beat Level 3 difficulty on Street Fighter II once and the ending was someone at a tombstone. I think it was Guile's storyline but it was so long ago I can't remember clearly.

Did they ever give a date for when Ryse will go on sale for XB1? Just rebought it from gamefly and am hoping fir a sale on the season pass now that I have $5 credit burning a hole in my pocket.

So, I'm trying to catch all of the 360 exclusives I missed over the past few years; didn't own a Microsoft console until recently.

I've picked up Witcher 2, Alan Wake, a few Halo titles, Lost Odyssey, Fable I and II. Don't care about GoW or any racing games, for what it's worth. Tried Dead Rising and it wasn't for me.

What else should I be snagging on the cheap? I've been looking at:

Blue Dragon

Crackdown

Yeah... it's a small list. What am I missing?

Are you just looking for exclusives specifically, or maybe certain types of genres that were exclusive?

Bulletwitch was a 360 exclusive, but I don't know if you'd want to play a game like that.  Are you looking for big budget titles, shooter games, action, RPG?

IMO you've touched on pretty much all the really good ones other than maybe Left for Dead 1 and 2 (it's on PC but not other consoles I believe). Kameo: Elements of Power was a pretty good launch 360 game although I have no idea how well it's aged at this point.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_video_game_exclusives_%28seventh_generation%29#Xbox_360

There's a list although I'm not sure how up to date it is, nothing else really jumps out at me as really great games other than the ones you already listed.

Yeah, I was just looking over that list and the only notable ones I saw were L4D1 and 2. PGR3/4 would be worth it if he liked racing games.

I'm guessing you don't have a PC for gaming because some of those are on PC. If that's the case there are a ton more you should at least consider. (Exclusives from Wiki, some may have gotten Playstation or Wii ports since then. I don't know if the list is updated. Does contain some on PC also). Alan Wake, Viva Pinata, Left 4 Dead, Condemned (only 1st one), Gunstringer, Kinect Sports, Prey, State of Decay, and a few more. Those were the ones that I think should have aged well. I think the wiki is missing a few, but this should be plenty to keep ya busy.

Tales of Vesperia and L4D 1 and 2.... ToV is on Ps3 but only in JP..Grab that since it is only on 360 over here

Either of the Geometry Wars: Retro Evolved games. Those were phenomenal.

Kameo: Elements of Power was a pretty good launch 360 game although I have no idea how well it's aged at this point.
Kameo looks good, especially considering it's age. I'm still amazed at the sections in the game where there's so many enemies on screen, yet the game doesn't stutter or seem to struggle. The hardest part is getting used to the controls, especially when you change to different creatures.

There are plenty of quality exclusives for the 360, just not nearly as many as the PS3 had. It was the latter years where the 360 really started to struggle in regards to exclusives and thankfully this is something that MS has full recognized so we shouldn't see the same thing happen with the XBox One. Anyways, here are a few that I would definitely recommend.

Ace Combat 6: Fires of Liberation

Crackdown

Crackdown 2

Blue Dragon

Condemned: Criminal Origins

Deathsmiles

Fable Anniversary

Geometry Wars: Retro Evolved 2

Halo, Halo 2, Halo 3, Halo 4

Halo Reach

Halo Wars

Kameo: Elements of Power

Left 4 Dead

Left 4 Dead 2

Naruto: The Broken Bond

Naruto: Rise of a Ninja

Prey

Risen

Saints Row

Shadow Complex

Snoopy Flying Ace (don't laugh, this game is immensly entertaining!)

'Splosion Man

The Gunstringer

Toy Soldiers

Toy Soldiers: Cold War

Trials HD

State of Decay

And last but not least Pinball FX2, which is without question one of my favorite games on my 360. If you enjoy console pinball, FX2 is definitely the way to go. It has some outstanding tables including The Avengers, which is just an amazing table. All in all, FX2 has like 10 amazing tables and like 10-15 great tables.

Its a shame he isnt interested in racers as the XBox 360 had some of the best incluing Forza and Project Gotham Racing. God what I would do to get a new Project Gotham Racing Game. I absolutely LOVED that series.

Of course, then you have the original Xbox titles that are compatible with the 360. In regards to exclusives, I recommend these titles:

Armed and Dangerous

Conker: Live & Reloaded

Crimson Skies: High Road to Revenge (Love this game!!)

Crimson Sea

Dreamfall: The Longest Journey

Doom 3

Dungeons & Dragons: Heroes

Far Cry Instincts

Jade Empire

Kingdom Under Fire: The Crusaders

Ninja Gaiden

Ninja Gaiden Black

Panzer Dragoon Orta

Phantom Dust

Star Wars Jedi Knight: Jedi Academy

Star Wars: Knights Of The Old Republic

Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic II: The Sith Lords

I feel like this should be stickied somewhere

So, I'm trying to catch all of the 360 exclusives I missed over the past few years; didn't own a Microsoft console until recently.

I've picked up Witcher 2, Alan Wake, a few Halo titles, Lost Odyssey, Fable I and II. Don't care about GoW or any racing games, for what it's worth. Tried Dead Rising and it wasn't for me.

What else should I be snagging on the cheap? I've been looking at:

Blue Dragon
Crackdown

Yeah... it's a small list. What am I missing?
I know they are not exclusives, but Grab Bully, and Sleeping Dogs.

All the Bing talk reminded me I have about 5000 points to burn. Usually do MS credit but debating Gamestop with some of it. Is the GS credit something you can only use online or is it something you can use in store as well?
You can use it in-store, just bring the code with your on your phone. I did it during the Target triple trade deal, put $25 in those things into a $29 of NBA 2K14, then traded it for $48, hehe.

Condemned:Criminal Origins was a great game.

I Just remember the game for playing as the most physically unfit cop in the history of video games. There's a "sprint" button, but it was more like a fastwalk button since he still moved slow as hell and even than he could only do it for 5 seconds before being winded. Then again I think he had a steady diet of bird carcasses he was eating and I can't imagine that having much nutrients. Otherwise that game made me feel like Charlie Kelly! King of Rats as I bashed abunch of rats with my bashing sticks except they were derranged hobos instead of rats, but the feeling kinda remained the same in that game.

I would totally buy a Charlie Kelly game. Cans of cat food and huffing could be health/powerups.

I Was thinking it would be a co-op game with you and Frank hanging underneath the bridge and collecting denim suits you randomly find from there. The bonus missions would be you and Frank playing Nightcrawlers.

Somebody needs to make this game, NOW. I don't care if it's unlicensed.

Frank is pretty much already in Project Spark with the goblin or shrinking down the yeti. Charlie might be a bit harder to make, but I'm sure it is possible.

There are plenty of quality exclusives for the 360, just not nearly as many as the PS3 had. It was the latter years where the 360 really started to struggle in regards to exclusives and thankfully this is something that MS has full recognized so we shouldn't see the same thing happen with the XBox One. Anyways, here are a few that I would definitely recommend.

Ace Combat 6: Fires of Liberation
Crackdown
Crackdown 2
Blue Dragon
Condemned: Criminal Origins
Deathsmiles
Fable Anniversary
Geometry Wars: Retro Evolved 2
Halo, Halo 2, Halo 3, Halo 4
Halo Reach
Halo Wars
Kameo: Elements of Power
Left 4 Dead
Left 4 Dead 2
Naruto: The Broken Bond
Naruto: Rise of a Ninja
Prey
Risen
Saints Row
Shadow Complex
Snoopy Flying Ace (don't laugh, this game is immensly entertaining!)
'Splosion Man
The Gunstringer
Toy Soldiers
Toy Soldiers: Cold War

Pinball FX2 being your favorite, me:

Something I realized now (sorta with the looking glass perspective), not necessarily when I was playing them is there's a lot of them as XBLA titles. Lot of my favs too.

Lol, I want to go back and play Armed and Dangerous just to use the land shark gun.

Yup, one of the scariest games I've ever played. Has anyone played CO 2 and how does it compare?
Has the scariest multiplayer I've ever played, but it died fast. I think if the game would have been really successful if it was released within the last year when horror games started to get popular.

Dreamfall: The Longest Journey...

Totally forgot about this game. Wasn't a sequel being worked on at some point? I remember seeing a teaser trailer for it a couple of years back, and never heard anything more on it. Guessing it got shelved?

Only thing is that If you are a fan of real pinball you will probably dislike Pinball FX. I'm a diehard pinball fanatic but like most pinball people I know, we only want to play real pinballs. If you enjoy real tables try Pinball Arcade. The 360 version didn't get support after the first 5-6 packs but it's still worth it. I play pinball arcade on my ps4 more then any other game on the system. The company is a bit shady but they make dead on pinball recreations. X1 needs Pinball Arcade badly.

EDIT: I never knew fx2 was exclusive. For some reason I always thought it was on every system.

I suppose FX2 is technically exclusive (I could be wrong). But pretty much every other system has Zen Pinball which has all the same tables that FX2 does (maybe missing one or two).

I just played some Crackdown for the first time in four years. The last time I played it I had killed every gang leader and got the achievement for climbing the agency tower and jumping off into the water.

I want to finish leveling up to get some more achievements, but the problem is there's no enemy's anywhere to be found now. I ran around and found some more orbs and did some rooftop races, but it got boring real quick. I thought there was some way to do a new game+ and keep all my skills, but I can't find a way to do it.

I really wanted to 100% this game some day, but I don't think it's even possible now. Most of the remaining achievements need enemies to get. The orbs are extremely hard to find now too. Anyone have any advice?

I gave up after spending 5 hours straight looking for the last agility orb. I think I'd find the rumored water monster before finding that last orb.

Once you get all the non-combat related achievements, make a new game.
