Just finished AC: Bloodlines. It was actually nicer in some ways than AC1. The mostly-empty cities meant it was easier to run around by far, the smaller areas meant you could run through a gate and lose pursuit, and it had a leveling mechanism (somewhat) that actually made all the additional crap you could do worthwhile.

OTOH, this means that I would just kill a whole bunch of people for a mission and then run through the gate. And oddly enough with multiple guards standing right next to each other, you can hold down blend, walk up, and assassinate 2-3 guys in a row and they don't react at all.

I have played the first hour or two of AC2 now. I'm not really sure how you increase your skills in that game. Maybe I'm not far enough in. I just got to the point where you are given responsibility for growing your uncle's city. I'm hoping that they do add a justification for all the extra crap, because in AC1 I felt like all the side-quests were pointless aside from as a "Gotta catch 'em all!" kinda thing.

oh cmon, the only real spoiler was about the warthog, and that's a joke boss. ill spoiler text the whole thing, but when he quotes me anyway it defeats the purpose...
To be fair, I thought saying that
a second playthrough making the plot "heart crushing" was a bit spoiler-y, though only barely.
The less he knows about it, the better.

Edit: You didn't even buy Muramasa? Why is this even an issue then?
Because this isn't going to be a one-time thing, is it? Like I would buy Dustforce on sale right now if I knew it wasn't going to be on PS+ for a while. Surely you could see that people would buy more games if they knew for sure that they wouldn't be offered for free on PS+? You could look at European PS+ as an example. Their sale games rarely coincide as free games. Many people here consider EU PS+ to be superior, and having more unique sales is just one factor in that.

I've heard a lot of talk of other countries PS+. There may be one game here, or one sale there, but for the most part I wouldn't trade US PS+ for another countries at all.

Also, thanks for not spoiling the weather for me today guys. It's surprisingly beautiful.

My new rule is don't buy shit, unless you for a fact know you are going to play it right away, is under $5 and can survive having bought it and not feel too bitch slapped over it, or can't live without seeing the icon on your system for some weirdo sickness you have, or it replaces a physical game that you can sell.

In general though my PS4\Vita backlog is nowhere near my PS3 backlog because I refuse to buy just for the sake of buying at this point. I have enough to play as it is. So unless it's something I need right now there is no point.

the truth of the matter is that PS+ is like 1/4 discounts, 1/4 free games and 1/2 gambling. will you like the free games for the month or will they be a waste of your $3 for the month? if you buy something for $7 will it be free next month? etc etc etc.

sometimes ps+ will be money down the drain for a given month. the goal is just to have it, on average across a year, be a good deal for you personally.

We've had games become free for PS+ a few months after a sale, so why is it only an issue now? Were you worried at any point in the past three years since the IGC started with this sort of policy?

You'll get better at both, and it's worth getting better at both.

I played nier for awhile... but i gave up on it pretty early, about when the crop planting mechanic got introduced.  I researched that online for about 5 minutes and was like, nope, i have no interest in managing crops.

Holy shit, it took you almost 14 hours to come up with that response? And the best you could do was just copy something others have already said? I stand by my retard comment.
By the way, how is the weight loss thing coming along? Good luck and kudos to you for trying to better yourself.

Should someone check on SJD? Last post I saw from him was when he said he was drunk on the beach...

I like games about the gameplay, but neither really tells you what the hell is going on. I decided to put them off.

I started KZ:M and played about ten minutes before my lunch ended. It's really pretty.

You stopped playing because you didn't like an optional quest?

Right? Shit's not terrible. It's just not very Assassin's Creed, but it's its own fun concept.

Yeah, I liked it. It was easy to game. Really, really easy to game. But it fit the bill for running around killing crap in a quick game.

I will say that I didn't like that you can't use the hidden blade on bosses. I mean, I'd get if you could only injure them instead of instant-kill, but it's annoying that you can't do damage at all. Not that I could tell, anyway. The sword just isn't near as fun to use. I went through the whole game, excepting bosses, using one-hit counter kills. Having to switch to the sword for bosses was just annoying.

Freedom Wars: New Details on PS Vita’s Upcoming Action RPG

Nick Accordino's Avatar + Posted by Nick Accordino on Jun 30, 2014 // Associate Project Manager, SCEA

It’s my distinct honor to bring you more information regarding one of the biggest PS Vita titles you’ll see this year – Freedom Wars! The futuristic action game launched last week in Japan, so we wanted to bring a few more details to our North American “Prisoners.”

Those who were able to visit the PlayStation booth at E3 might have had a chance to play our multiplayer co-operative demo – thanks to all who stopped by! I saw a lot of expert thorn-wielders soaring across the skies of the Panopticon, sawing Abductors apart and saving civilians to decrease their 1 million year sentence of penal servitude, and I must say, I was very impressed. However, the one recurring question I continue to hear from the community is – “How’s the story?” Well, let’s take a peek:

Freedom Wars promises intense co-op action with a captivating storyline. I’d like to leave you today with a message from our Japan Studio Producer, Junichi Yoshizawa. Yoshizawa-san has been tirelessly promoting Freedom Wars throughout Japan across the past few months, so I asked him to share a few words with the community:

Last week, we were finally able to release Freedom Wars in Japan. To celebrate the successful launch, I wanted to take a moment to write a message to our eager fans in North America.

Freedom Wars is a title I created to realize a dream of mine. My vision was to develop a PS Vita game that took advantage of the handheld system’s unique features, enabling gamers to come together via ad-hoc and Wi-Fi to overcome terrifying enemies. PlayStation has a storied legacy of creating innovative experiences and our collective goal was to create a Vita game that brought gamers together in a socially connected, location-based, co-op experience.

In order to do that, I gathered a number of well-known developers with an impressive pedigree for creating some of Japan’s most beloved titles – developers Shift and Dimps. These two developers both produce high-quality, interesting titles, but in this case I wanted to utilize both of their strengths, so I asked Shift to be in charge of game design, character design and story, while Dimps handled programming, graphics and direction.

The collaboration between these two developers has been wonderful and the “Freedom Wars” that they have helped create has three distinct strengths:

The first is the outrageous world and story, where prisoners are bound by 1 million years of penal servitude for the sin of “living” and need to fight for their freedom.

The second is a new game where the goal isn’t to just defeat your enemy, but to save people from your defeated enemies and create a multiplayer experience where you can clearly divide up responsibilities among your teammates.

The third is a ranked competition where players can contribute to the areas they actually live in and battle on behalf of their own “city state.”

With the coordination of each of these pillars, we created Freedom Wars – a testament to our collective vision of delivering a frenetic, co-op action game that we believe will please the Western community when it launches later this year.

Take care!

Junichi Yoshizawa

I'm back. Yeah, yesterday was pretty awesome. Went out to the beach early, and I can report that Blue Moon is a very overrated beer.

He found out that he had made a deal with Microsoft.
Thankfully, buying the booze didn't put me in financial problems. The parking almost did, though.

What are some other good games that are similar to Liberation HD in that you can go back and clean up the trophies and get the plat without multiple playthroughs? This is addicting.  :joystick:

sony is slow with the blog update today lol. we want to see week 2!
summer blast sale. i was waiting on spending the 80 bucks in the psn wallet. They list the sales with the Playstation Plus update blog post at 12pm EST every monday.
I mentioned it earlier but with the PS+ games being monthly now, there's really no need for them to do weekly PS Plus updates just for a few sales.

I'm sure sometimes big sales will still get their own separate posts, but most the sales we probably won't know about until Tuesday now.

Freedom Wars: New Details on PS Vita’s Upcoming Action RPG
This has to be a CaptainTek alt, right? Username is hilarious.

They're talking about WWE spoilers in the XBL thread, so don't go there if for some reason in 2014 you still actually give a shit about WWE.

I could be wrong since it has been a while on some of these. Remember though I dont 100% or plat many games that arent easy/short. Because I am a quitter.

Plats:

Ass Creed 2 since you love AC even though its somewhat long.

Jak and Daxter

Crysis

Any Ratchet and Clank, though into the Nexus might be the shortest and easiest.

100%:

Brothers: A tale of two sons

Far Cry 3 Blood Dragon

Renegade Ops

Costume Quest
