The following thread are for niche-based Japanese video games by smaller companies such as Atlus, NIS America, AKSYS, XSEED, D3 Publisher, KOEI/TECMO, SNK Playmore, Ignition, Natsume or any sweet deals for those who are passionate and hardcore about Japanese video games even from the bigger companies like SquareEnix, Sega, Bandai Namco, etc.

But to avoid any messiness of links everywhere, we'll focus on games within the last 2-3 years as opposed to the last five-ten. [although, if you do see older titles on sale, please post them regardless].

The theme of these deals are Japanese video games distributed in the US by the smaller niche companies. The thread is literally for those who love Japanese games.
There will be a few Korean games that you may see on this list, such as the "DJ Max" games.

If you see a deal, please post!

NOTE: Please check the most recent page for the latest deals.

And I want to thank many of you in advance who submit their deals and their support!!!

I am not getting it on the vita... I am getting it on the ps3 as it has co op stuff which A. I am not sure is on the Vita and B. I don't want to buy the game twice to play that co op stuff with my wife :p

edit: looking it up the ps3/wiiu version has split screen co op... the vita and 3ds have 4 player local co op
yah I haven't heard anything yet either, since it got pushed back to the 14th? , hopefully more reviews will be out before then, I like one piece but when its 6 hours to beat the game, I renting this first either way, tired of throwing money at sony and Nintendo with their full price cell phone short games,

well , on the bright side, they get all the good limited /colllectors edition.
I agree, plus as of late it has been and will mostly be in the future, the u.s. getting the digital only crap card for games

looks like tales of hearts r finally has a release date
still waiting for this and xillia to announce a limited edition, I doubt hearts will, but no xillia, not interested in the collectors edition, if their is no limited, will wait since the past releases have all had price drops a couple months after, hearts wont though

The upside is. if the game comes out on a region free console, and Europe or somewhere else comes with a retail release, I'm down to import. An example would be Gundam Reborn being Retail in Europe and being Digital in the US.

So I guess I missed the boat on the One Piece Day One edition? I poked around and neither Best Buy nor Amazon have it available for preorder. Best Buy says 'Coming Soon', can I assume that means they presold out and on release day it'll automatically change from coming soon to unavailable? I've never seen or read anything about One Piece but I have heard of it and the game looks fun so I thought I might pick it up and give the franchise a shot.

depends on what format you're looking to get it for.

if you're looking to get it on your vita, you'll have to go to gamestop.

How did I completely miss this was coming to Vita too? I LOVE Vita games. I think I might have to make a stop at my local Gamestop this weekend now (unless you think I should preoder via the website in case they screw up my preorder). Thanks! I can live with just having one version to start. If it's good and I want to double dip I'll grab the PS3 version down the road. I hate paying MSRP but I don't have any discount methods open to me at the moment. :(

Danganronpa 2 LE officially sold out on NISA store now...I'm still a bit disappointed in missing the Nactural Doctrine LE....I was ready to order it too.....I can get $5 or $10 bucks back on Amazon but I wanted that bag....

CRIMINAL GIRLS. WAT.

http://www.siliconera.com/2014/07/03/criminal-girls-fireflys-diary-coming-west-vita/

I think I can officially stop importing games with the "this will never be localized" mentality now.
That last screenshot on Amazon that the website linked me too, looks like another simplistic mini-game. If you're going to have those, at least put some more input into them. I don't see the point in massaging/rubbing oil on a chick like in Argarest War 2. I expect too much from arbitrary fanservice. :whistle2:

EDIT: In other news, and on another forum that I frequent, the newest Persona 4 Arena is being compared to Capcom. Mainly, because of how Capcom likes to milk series the Street Fighter and/or make expansion upon expansion for Monster Hunter games. I'm pretty sure that Atlus has done few re-releases/re-imaginings for the Persona series. As evidenced by Persona 3, FES, Portable. Persona 4, P4: Golden and the re-releases of the first two Persona games. After playing Persona games in the past, I'm sure that Atlus actually adds more content. At least, more than Capcom usually does with their fighting franchises.

They released 3 version of Shin Megami Tensei Nocturne, and basically added one new character for the last version.

Would you say that Atlus and Capcom are one in the same? At least, when it comes to re-releases/re-imaginings. I can see how Atlus has released their titles more than 'once' but I can't exactly get on the bandwagon when Capcom releases Street Fighter games like they're going out of style.

I totally forgot Anime-Expo is going on....no wonder for these great announcements. Now I need Jast USA to announce some visual novels which we'll get like 4 years later...I'm still waiting for Starless!!!!

Yup, just ordered my import copy of Gundam Reborn earlier this week. :) I was also looking at older games I want to pickup for my collection this week that I'll need to import to get the physical version - One Piece: Pirate Warriors 1&2, Dynasty Warriors 7: Empires and Record of Agarest War 1 for PS3.

I was just at their panel tonight. They announced a few upcoming games, but the ones I remember the most were Raidy 3, Starless, fan discs for My Girlfriend is the President, and a new Nitro+ game

EDIT: oh, and Hanachirasu and Outlaw Django

Well, they announced that they have no timeframe for the release of Starless.

Question for you guys:

On the Asian English version of FFX and FFX-2 Vita, is cross play with the NA PS3 version possible?  I mean neither are region locked and they are the same game.  I want a physical copy of FFX-2, but would like to just continue off from my PS3 file instead of restarting on the Vita.

Any help on this would be appreciated.

Some sites say saves do work cross region others say they don't. It's either 50/50 or you might have to edit a save's region. That's what I got from googling it at least.

Persona Q - The Wild Card Premium edition is up on Best Buy now at $49.99. It seems to be the listing used for the standard game, but the item description and picture are both of Premium edition. If this goes through it's a $30, or $40 if you've got GCU.

How can you get it for $30?

Don't Vita games normally cost $39.99? At least, that's what I've seen for games like Conception II or Mind Zero. MSRP is a suggestion after all but it still strikes me as weird. Especially when they don't announce some kind of deal/sale because of the difference in prices.
Yes they do, but Freedom Wars has been listed for $29.99 on both Amazon and GameStop ever since they've had it up for preorder. Hence the disappointment in seeing BB list it for $39.99.

Last I checked, GameStop still has the Day One edition on all 3 consoles this is coming for.

I don't have GCU, but am getting the game anyway....I will take my chance on an order! I am already getting the case from Japan...so I will have 2...may give one away as a Christmas present or something.

Wow what a great price. Having GCU for this means that it will be half off the suggested price. Thanks! Hopefully they won't cancel the orders.

http://www.siliconera.com/2014/07/04/dengeki-bunko-fighting-climax-headed-ps3-vita/

Dengeki announced on Friday that Dengeki Bunko Fighting Climax, Sega's arcade fighting game with characters from ASCII Media Works' Dengeki Bunko light novel titles, will debut on the Playstation 3 and PS Vita systems this fall in Japan. Dengeki said the PS3 and PS Vita versions will feature new content, but further details will be announced later.

Hopefully, new content = more characters.

I'm not sure what to think of this, but this thread indicates that that listing should be for the standard edition: http://forums.bestbuy.com/t5/Gaming-Support/Persona-Q-Premium-Edition/m-p/823874/highlight/true#M1988

Hopefully this won't become a total blunder on Best Buy's part.

I've been keeping an eye on the listing and there was one for the standard version up a couple days ago, but it disappeared this morning and the Premium edition appeared. When I first noticed it when you went into the Listing it was showing the premium edition picture with the title and item description for the standard edition. Now the entire thing is worded as if it was the premium edition including the item description stating what is included with the premium edition. Previous screw ups I've ordered from best buy went through so I'm hoping for the same here.

Link is dead....? Doesn't work for me (comes up as an "oops, we couldn't find anything matching your product")

Yeah there's no listings of Persona Q on Best Buy's site right now. Must've taken down within the last couple hours. Hopefully it's just being fixed and will reappear later.

they totally removed it, and delisted it. i guess cancellation emails for persona q will be coming soon.

Didn't expect a localization announcement to be so soon. But saves me the trouble of importing.

Hoping Dengeki Bunko gets announced for localization in the future too.

But man, great news to hear! Excited for the oncoming days.
