I enjoyed the first Prototype very much. However, I couldn't finish playing the sequel. Mainly because the change in protagonist and how he became stereotypical and majorly different from a trailer that the developers had released previously. My biggest gripe, happens to be how the game is more of the same but only this time with some different powers. I don't plan on spoiling anything for you if you plan on playing it.

From what I've read, the controls are better and there's less of a huge powers list (which was annoying in this one,) but the protagonist is a cussy bastard and it plays overall the same as the first. I do have it and will play it eventually, but I like to take a long break between series iterations, generally, so it probably won't be for at least a year.

 
It still amazes me that Infamous and Prototype were so contentious over being the same game after there was such a difference in quality and Prototype died as a franchise with the sequel while Infamous has blossomed with its fourth and fifth entries on PS4.

 
Anyone want to push me over the fence towards buying TxK? I've heard good things and came close to buying it when it released

If you have a job that pays you almost nothing, it'll still only take about an hour of pay to buy this game. If you play it for an hour and never touch it again, you come out even.

No disrespect to @io or the other mod (forgot their name), but I very much disapprove of this change. I know you guys don't get paid to do this and I appreciate your efforts, but all this has done is made the thread go from one extreme to the other.

Talks of favorite mayo or which weather girl is hottest I understand being inappropriate, but 95% of what makes this thread great is the game discussion. It may have not always been directly related to the sale of the week, but I often use it as a resource for what to buy and when. Wolfenstein, for instance, was completely off my radar until people here raved on and on about it. Really, I had never even heard of it and now it's one of my favorite releases this year. Those kind of organic conversations are worth more than a weekly OP that is essentially copied verbatim from the playstation blog. It's the same kind of thing that goes on in the 3DS and Wii U threads so I don't see why it can't continue to happen here.

I know the site doesn't "belong" to us, be we provide and aggregate the bulk of its content. Had things been set up this way 2 years ago when I joined, I would not have stayed. If there is a problem why can't it be dealt with directly instead of taking a hacksaw to what's arguably the most visited place on CAG? Address those specific users. Obviously there have been issues as I've spoken up about them as well, but the majority of us just want a place to hang and talk about games. MOST of us don't harrass people, or post needlessly in hopes of raising a silly post count. Again, address those individuals.

What we have now is a thread devoid of personality and another that will become increasingly insular. Hell, I don't even know how to get to it without clicking on a link posted earlier. I suppose if people are determined to use the new thread so they can have free reign to carry on however they please, then so be it. But don't stifle everyone else's input who conduct themselves reasonably. I've met a number of cool people here and it'd be a shame for others to miss out on the same.

Just finished the mutant mudds ghost levels and have no desire to keep playing. It is a pretty boring game. I like the different depths, but it isn't enough to make me like the game.

Just played one game of TxK and can say it's easily worth the price. It seems like it could become a new addiction possibly.

As for Steamworld Dig, it's a lot of fun. IGN gave it like a 9.3 if I remember correctly. I find the game pretty difficult but it's rewarding as well because so far I keep running into new things every time I play.

Unfortunately it's not cross-save. I found that out when I threw it on my Vita and realized I couldn't import my save from my PS4. :(

Anyway, heads up: there appears to be a glitch in Terraria (only on Vita).. I cannot get the truffle NPC to spawn no matter what I try. Apparently others have had the same issue. Sucks because he sells some pretty valuable equipment (if you specialize in ranged weapons) and is also a requirement for a trophy. Not sure if anyone else has run into the problem. One solution seems to be to start a new world and try to have him spawn there, but since he's a post-hardmode NPC that's going to require a lot of fuck ing effort.

Also, CAG overlords, can you guys please work on getting threaded replies for mobile. Would probably cut down on some of the double and triple posting.

I see you're playing Transistor.. Hopefully you don't run into the bug/glitch that I did. I'm on my 2nd playthrough and something caused a glitch which in turn made it where I can't progress anymore. I contacted SuperGiant Games and provided them with a video clip of the bug and they said a patch is in the works. I hope they hurry, I really want to play more.

My immediate reaction was right in line with yours. I was angry and I felt like someone just pulled the rug out from under me. However, reading through the new thread made me understand where everyone is coming from. I think there is room and purpose for both threads. I would love to see all these old feuds ended, and everyone just get along.

Do you really not use the What's New section of the site that shows you which threads that you follow have gotten posts since you last read them?

We're still completely free to discuss games as much as we want here and the mods won't stop that. If those guys really don't want to post here due to not being able to discuss love/hatred of mayo and all that, then they're free to leave. New people will come in and we will start the cycle over again.

The OP is also not copied from the PS Blog. I write it up myself.

I actually beat the game a few weeks ago. Didn't run into any bugs, thankfully. Sorry to hear that. Is the bug related to the functions? I considered what might happen if you created a combination that rendered you powerless against enemies.

I read through some of it earlier today and most of it seemed suitable for this thread. I'm not sure what the mods now consider "off topic", though.

Thing is, CAG is ultimately about determining the best value for games. How can you do that without information? Impressions? A price next to a game means nothing to me. I can go on the store and see that for myself. The reason I like this site is because a lot of people here happen to be just as persnickety as me. It's nice that @frisky and other OPs bring that information directly to us, but that's not the only draw. I want to know what people are playing and why. Have you read any of @affa's posts? Some of them are more thorough then what you'll find on professional reviews sites. The game in question might not be on sale that week, but I'll remember what he said. There absolutely should be a place for that here. I also want to know when @frisky or @tyler are streaming so I can see firsthand. Or that Hotline Miami is eventually coming to PSN. Or that AMZ warehouse might have some cheap PS4s in stock. Seriously, had someone not gone "off topic" and posted about that I wouldn't have a ps4 right now. These things all factor into my purchasing decisions and have saved me tons of money.

I also don't mind knowing that @velo's wife is delivering yet ANOTHER kid this weekend, lol. We've gotten to know each other so it's only natural those conversations crop up. The problem, as I see it, is when people go overboard and create alt accounts just to be disruptive. Or snipe at new people who don't hover over this thread religiously. Or post only for the sake (by their own admission) of raising a post count or getting a like. That shit does belong somewhere else.

That's just part of the storyline. In the story, Liberation was the first "game" and now you're doing research for the 2nd one.

I absolutely loved Prototype II. I've always thought that this is how a Spiderman game should have been like. Give it another try. Once you unlock more of his powers with longer duration, hopefully, you might end up liking it more.

Last post. Sorry, I'm on mobile and don't feel like goring to my computer. I hear what you're saying but the conversations will obviously be fragmented and partly redundant. Some people vowed to never post here again, lol. Not a huge deal but it sucks having to follow yet another thread. I also get the feeling a few will ramp up their efforts to be internet's biggest asshole and I'm not interested in witnessing. New people obviously won't bother with it. If folks want to incessantly post about mayo or whatever, then yeah, it's probably for the best. But I like what had here. Oh well.

As for your OP, that wasn't meant to be a jab at you. Appreciate what you do and it's obviously way more organized than what the PSN folks cobble together. I can't remember the last time I checked the blog, so again, thank you. My point is that the information isn't exactly inaccessible to those who claim they can't find it. It's on the blog if people can't be bothered to find it here (which is unbelievable).

I have a question regarding Remote Play with my PS Vita. I've already registered it with my PS3 system. Now, it wants me to find some sort of [Network] > Remote Play, but I can't seem to find it. I checked under Network settings on my PS3 and the separate settings for Remote Play. Alas, none of it seemed to help.

I tried connecting privately and via the Internet on my Vita since both are already connected by Wi-Fi but it failed. By the way, is Remote Play only compatible with specific titles?

Also, Congrats to Velo! Even if we don't know each other that well.  :wave:

So my question is, why does that thread deserve to be stickied (with it's 2 sale items, one of them being old sports games) yet a really well maintained thread like this one doesn't?

And when it comes to off topic chatter, everything on topic is discussed in detail on the first day of the sale, which leaves 6 days of people asking the same questions over and over. The off topic discussion help me learn more about other people's tastes in other things, so I'm able to relate to them in more than one way.

To stay on topic, I'm going to try and finish Remember Me tonight.

Io's been in here before and the mods will probably come again. It's not the gaming discussion that set him off. It was the multiple pages of non-gaming discussion between a handful if folks. Impressions and discussion of non-sale stuff will be fine here.

The PS3 can't be on Wi-Fi if you want to do Remote Play, so you'd need to hook it up via ethernet to do Remote Play.

There's a list of compatible titles here, plus all PS1 games are playable over Remote Play.

 
Finally caught up on the rest of this thread. What a roller coaster ride.

Anyone else get free fireworks shows from their neighbors last night. It was very fun to sit by a campfire in the backyard watching everyone burn their money in colorful loud fashion.

I suppose if people are determined to use the new thread so they can have free reign to carry on however they please, then so be it. But don't stifle everyone else's input who conduct themselves reasonably. I've met a number of cool people here and it'd be a shame for others to miss out on the same.

Cmon man, did you read any of what happened yesterday? io himself said that the gaming talk was fine, it was the countless pages about mayo, weather girls, post streaks, etc that went over the line and I agree with it. I'm all for OT/life chatter but not in a main topic on the deals forum. You also must have selective memory and not remember folks like Stotch belittling people anytime that God forbid they asked a question about the sale that had been discussed 7 pages back or anything and deliberately giving false info. Thats the kinda shit that got old real fast.

I personally intend to follow both threads now, this one for mostly gaming talk and the other for a little gaming but mostly life discussion. It's a win-win situation. I would advise you to do the same.

On-topic: I started up AC4 on my 360 last night and man what a downgrade it is from the PS4 version. If I hadnt gotten in on the $.40 Target deal for it I would be a lot more upset about it.

honestly, you probably dont want to waste your time doing it. check out that list frisky posted, its pretty pathetic. unless you have a huge amount of ps1 games or really love peggle/bejeweled.

Nothing to do with functions. You know how you go up to doors and press X to move on the next stage or whatever? Well, I got to a area where the "X" didn't show up and I can't go through any of the doors and am stuck in one small area.

It's only updated because one of you guys did it. If you look at AmazonJosh's profile he hasn't logged in in some time so it wasn't him.

The new rep point blank told us CAG is not a priority. Then he left and hasn't been seen in weeks.

Regardless of whatever mod is updating it, it hardly seems worth keeping a thread sticky for a site with an MIA rep doing two measly deals a week.

If you're going to throw us PC gamers a bone and sticky one of our threads then the Steam one would be a better option.

Regardless the Amazon PC thread really needs to be unstickied and I'm hardly the only one who feels that way. The entire thread has turned into one long string if complaints about how much Amazon digital PC games sucks since Tony left and Josh took over and why is the thread still stickied?

I think at least part of the problem was the timing of the initial releases of both games a week or so apart in 2009. I knew about both games coming out but was more interested in Infamous. I played Infamous first and about a month later I played Prototype. I bought Infamous and rented Prototype from BlockBuster. I like both games but liked Infamous better. There were some definitely similarities but for me different enough.

I was more exited to play the Infamous sequel then I was to play Prototype 2. I eventually did play Prototype 2 many months after it came out and in some ways thought it was a better game then the original.

I wonder if they would have done better if they delayed the original game 6 months? Sort of like how Watch Dogs was pushed back. I think if WD came out a month or two after GTA 5 it would have being even more compared to GTA5 then it was. After playing 20 to 100 hours of GTA5 I can see how people would be looking for something a bit different then another open world driving game.

I'm seriously considering Steamworld Dig and Octodad. Steamworld is cheap enough that I'll probably grab it, but I was hoping to get Octodad a little cheaper (around $5). There were a few people selling codes, but I didn't get them in time. Where do the codes come from?
 
Well, hopefully this thread will be more  readable now, if it keeps itself constrained to only "Deal" discussions and moves all the off topic chatter elsewhere.

ftfy. Everyone knows the PSN thread has no posts. What could you read?

On a serious note, I dont like this. I enjoyed most of the banter in downtime between deals. There was a camaraderie between active members (in spite of and because of the rivalries) that doesn't exist in other threads. I was always envious of this thread when I was 360 exclusive because the thread for them is boring and devoid of personality by comparison. My then xbros weren't engaging at all. And the one time I did participate in a pleasant discussion of people sharing their opinions and experiences with a game not on sale it was cut off by several people bitching until a mod intervened. The regulars posted infrequently and its not a very lively or engaging place. There's no social aspect, thats what grabs me and keeps me coming back. A reliable forum family that's always there at any hour of the day. When its all business I couldn't be bothered.

Now segregated it just appears the new thread will be the place to shoot the shit with friends and talk about game deals which is what I loved about this thread in the first place.

 
I'm really thinking of buying Steamworld Dig while it's sale to have another game for PS4 when it get it in September but then I see it being one of the free games of that month for sure if I buy it.
