 Anime Steals and Deals

**It is highly recommended you check the latest posts in this thread as they will often have the most up to date deals. I will attempt to reflect these sales in the OP, but always check the latest posts.**

Rightstuf

Rightstuf runs studio sales every week, sometimes even twice a week. These range from anime, manga, and even artbooks. Prices are decent, and Rightstuf has amazing customer service. I highly recommend them for that alone.

http://www.rightstuf.com/rssite/main/

You can save an additional 10% off a majority of their items (Including preorders) by buying their Got Anime membership

http://www.rightstuf.com/rssite/action/store/item/Item?ItemName=gotanime1

Amazon

Amazon tends to offer lower everyday prices on their anime, and often run sales on Funimation items routinely. Keep track on your favorites or check your daily deal's for a possible 5% off of some based off your history on Amazon.

(Also, I'd also recommend to check out Amazon's top 100 deals in Anime Bluray/DVD as they tend to show what's popular, or what is on sale.)

http://www.amazon.com/gp/bestsellers/movies-tv/2959127011/ref=pd_zg_hrsr_mov_1_3_last   (Blu Ray)

DVDPlanet / Deep Discount

Known by many for their bad customer service, they often make up for it with their lower prices on a lot of their items. This and they routinely run sales specifically for anime.

http://www.dvdplanet.com/Pages/Search/Category.aspx?ec=42000

http://www.deepdiscount.com/index.cfm

I highly suggest when you order from them to only order in stock items, and not ones that are backordered. Save yourself the displeasure of having to deal with the headaches. And patience is a must with these sites.

Cheapassgamer

Maybe you will find something here on our own forums! We have a thread dedicated specifically to Anime and Manga for sale from fellow Cags.

Wish I had a HPB near me. ;__;
I sometimes find some deals there, but I mainly go to check their clearance section. Didn't find anything worth picking up. I was thinking about a cheap 3ds.

I ended up going to the the disk replay store down the road. I picked up this Shinkai: Collection dvd set for $20. I did a blind buy on this, but I had some credit. Was that a good buy?

They also had a robotek the macross saga set for $10. I passed on that since I couldn't remember which was better: Macross or Robotek.

I ordered Soul Eater complete set from amazon warehouse last week for $23 and it listed as like new, but with factory sealed under that. It arrived in great shape, but wasn't sealed. Is that common for warehouse deals?

I just got my Yu-Gi-Oh! Bonds Beyond Time Blu-Ray and was fairly surprised to see it includes the original japanese version with english subtitles as well.

Seems like TRSI has got the AoT Part 2 LE w/ Artbox up for preorder now.

I wish I'd known they were releasing a box with volume 2. The standalone digibook packaging is the only reason I didn't order the LE of part 1. : / Then again, I wish I'd known they were going to release Railgun on blu within a year, and many many other things as well :)

Edit: Oh, my HPB report. Mine had mostly garbage from an anime perspective, but I did pick up the complete Dirk Gently series on dvd for $6.

So the Attack on Titan box only houses the limited edition packaging? Ugh. Guess I'm skipping on the series or waiting for the inevitable complete release. No digibooks for me.

Pretty good buy!

Ew that price tho
Price updated, now $59.99. But yea, still an ugly price.

Just got retweeted by them and ordered! lol
I am waiting for a Funi sale. If none by release then ill order it.

I figured they were going to release a box. They wanna get those AoT $$$$$!

Well yea, how else would they get everyone to buy both LEs?

I got my big Aniplex order today from TRSI. Sadly three boxsets got damaged so back to rightstuf the go!

Yep, as much as I would like a artbox for the series my hatered for digibooks outweighs it.

Ouch, my sympathies for you. Granted it is TRSI so I have no doubts on them making it right, but considering what you probably paid for them. Yeah, I would accept anything less than dam perfect.

Hmm. Never dealt with returning stuff to rightstuf. I have to pay return postage apparently. Major boo.

How badly damaged are we talking about here?  Though you'll have to pay regardless, you might be able to work some things out with their online C/S chat.  Especially since we're talking about overpriced Aniplex stuff :whistle2:D

Attack on Titan's price is so unappealing. If you want the artbox you have to get the limited editions that are really not that worth it and outrageous for only a few episodes. Granted the bluray is only 24.99 but that's not that pretty either. I may bite with my bestbuy coupon but then again look what happened to Stein's Gate it got a complete series after two collections just like AoT however the same can be said for Fairy Tale which got collections and now is in parts making the entire series unaffordable from a cag perspective to collect

That $6.99 new listing for Gundam 00 Season 1 was legit--my copy arrived today and it isn't a bootleg copy.
Score!

Yeah, thats the only downside to them imo.
Yea but it is kind of a big one though if you are just returning damaged stuff. Oh well

My Durarara tin has hard dings on the sides and the backside is actually pushed outward. The Blue Exorcist Blu-ray Box Set II got kinda smashed so the boxset is lopsided and it has a tear on the bottom of the spine. The Sword Art Online (S.A.O) Blu-ray Box Set 4 has a tear on the bottom of the spine. I was going to brush it off but for the amount I paid for these...no. Tbh, The shipping box is fine and these probably resulted from just how TRSI packs their stuff (le paper) and the weight of everything.

Since the announcement I've been contemplating making my own case for AoT, and just make it look like one of the walls.  I'd probably also ... well, anyone who's seen the show/read the manga should know what I was about to say without ruining it for others.

This smacks of effort though, so it will likely never happen.

The typical solution for Rightstuf returns is that if you mention exactly what is damaged, they will go ahead and ship you the replacement box, blu case, cover art, etc. and they will send you an envelope to return the damaged item that you replaced in that same package. I've received many items in the past where I had damaged DVD cases, damaged NISA LE box, and other damaged items, and they sent me the replacement of the item for free, and in the package there was also an envelope and prepaid shipping label to ship the damaged item back to them. If you plan to open your package anyways it's the best solution since you won't have to pay for shipping for the replacement.

The rep I dealt with said I have to pay for shipping and they will ship me out the replacements once they receive my damaged goods. I got very detailed on what was damaged and in what way it was damaged. So you're saying that I shouldn't be paying for the return shipping?

EDIT: Btw, if anyone was wondering, the OVA is included on the DVDs and BDs in the Anime Classics edition of Deadman Wonderland.

I've NEVER had to pay return shipping for any replacement of damaged items I've received from Rightstuf. I mean this is even stuff like NISA PE boxes, so it's not as simple as replacing a chipboard.

I think if anything you probably didn't make as big of a deal over it as you could have, which in this case you should have since it's clearly their fault as you received the items in those conditions, and it's not your responsibility since you just want to get the particular parts of the set replaced, and not the whole thing replaced. So the real question is whether or not you were clear you wanted the whole set replaced, or did you just want the damaged part of the sets replaced, because they'll gladly sent you an empty box of the set to replace the damaged part of the set, but not if you want the whole set replaced. That they won't do unless you pay for the shipping.

Called them. They said with other manufactures they do that but with Aniplex they can't. Aniplex requires the whole boxset to be returned and unfortunately they cannot refund the return shipping. No replacement pieces. They can only refund it if Aniplex comes out with a different return solution after your exchange is made.

So even after buying sets, Aniplex still finds a way for me to spend more lul

My Bakemonogatari had one disk case with shriveled cover art and TRSI told me I would need to ship the item back to get it replaced as well. My guess is it is an Aniplex exclusive thing.

After I posted I also thought about why they would refuse to pay for the return shipping, and then came to the same conclusion it's probably something to do with Aniplex. XD

Oh Aniplex, never fail to squeeze every single cent out of everything, even with returns.

I had many returns with rightstuf.
I had to sending my whole katanagatari box to replace the damaged box at my expense. I also had to send in the first art book from a NISA pe because the bindings was really loose, so they just sent me a new art book once they had it.

Other things like Funimation boxes, they send me a replacement box, free of charge. I got a extra Shiki save box because mine was damaged. Typically if it's a special item, they include a packing slip and postage, so you can send in a damaged package, like my steins gate visual novel box. It had a big rip near the logo, so they sent me a new one with return postage for the damaged box.
For bluray cases, they just send in a replacement and I don't need to exchange it.
I kinda wish that they email or send in postage stickers like RACs because I had to send in multiple replacements. I don't want to be rude to Bob but the Panty and Stocking box and the Wagnaria 2 wasn't in the expected condition that I wanted. The original order was the Wagnaria 2 box was really bruised up and there was a tear on the panty and stocking box. I didn't opened them so he sent in replacements. The replacements were in not in the condition I hoped to received them. The panty and stocking box was really loose in the back and the Wagnaria 2 box was bruised and it was really dirty... Dirty as there was dust/dirt inside the plastic wrap of the box. He's giving me a refund for the order when I returned it....

New pickups. My 2 copies of Samurai Bride has come in but I just started the process of returning 1 of them to Right Stuf. Aquarion Evol has Part 1 and 2 in the Art Box. Also I just upgraded AOT Part 2 LE to the one that comes with the Art Box. Now hopefully they are going to do a Funimation sale so I can get a discount on it also.

Also did you guys hear that Amazon has next One Piece Voyage DVD as a timed exclusive. It's exclusive from 9/30-11/18. I think they might do something similar for Collection 10

Is Shakugan no Shana S OVA set worth $18?  That's the only thing I saw that in the sale that I'd want right now(although I think it's at their regular price).  I'd like to get more episodes after I finish S2 and wait for a S3 complete set to be released.  But feel uneasy paying that much if they're mediocre episodes.

oh wow I didn't think I would be the first to post these.

funimation sale at bestbuy ignore this one it's garbage as far as I can tell unless you have credit

funimation sale at amazon the few items i compared were all like 10-20% cheaper in the amazon sale, and there is way more on sale. im looking for stuff right now.
They've actually been posted awhile back, the BB one a few times, and the Amazon one like a week or two ago, but there's been so many posts they've just disappeared into the depths of this thread. XD

Where did you get the Aquarion Evol set?

odd that funimation themselves just posted those today then o_O
Naw, all they are doing is carrying over their Anime Expo sale. Its now the "Comic Con" sale lol

Just got my Aniplex stuff in the mail today and nothing damaged. The other posts had me worried though I can see how they were easily damaged. All of the new sets use a thin sleeve case rather than a chipboard box to hold the contents. The sets themselves are nice but for the price I would have been much happier with beefy packaging.

That's typical Aniplex for ya. It's like they just assume these sets are beamed onto people's shelves, and they don't need to be shipped anywhere by the retailers or anything like that.

Naw, TRSI needs to know that brown paper won't solve everything lol. All my other Aniplex sets have arrived perfect though.

I got it from Amazon. Both Part 1 LE and Part 2 for around $60.
Ah I see. Coolio

I am actually a big fan of the paper packaging in their shipments lol. I ordered something from RACS (before all of the commotion with Toradora) and they used packing peanuts and I was dreading a giant dent in my NISA PE. Luckily nothing was damaged~

I would lean the blame to the damaged Aniplex shipments more towards the thin boxes honestly. They about the same quality as the Danganronpa/Demon's Gaze LE from NISA and feel pretty frail. SAO isn't the best but the boxes Aniplex used for it and Bake/Nisemonogatari were great.

I grabbed the AoT Limited with the Artbox. One minor gripe about my Part 1 was that I didn't anywhere "safe" to put it and the box will put my mind at ease a little. I do wish that I got the standard edition but I actually liked the look of the set so I don't mind.

In other news, for some reason I been mixing up Gun X Sword and Black Blood Brothers a lot. I see them on sale all the time and am depending on picking one of them up. Gun X Sword seems like the better one of the two but has anyone seen them? I always like to have everyone's two cents on here (not to mention I got a $6 Amazon GC from the M&Ms promo :) ).

EDIT: Oh, and I doubt any of you care much about Toonami these days but I did an Adult Swim survey today. In the survey they had a question about what kind of shows I watched and they used "Eden of the East" and "Code Geass" as examples (to be a little fair, Bleach was the other example) . Knowing how AS has aired several animes throughout the past decade, I found it weird how they chose two animes that they never aired not to mention some older anime. It could be a sign that they are considering or maybe airing these animes soon.

I would say gun x sword. I thought it was pretty good. Although if you want to save your coupon then just hop on eBay since a ton of sellers happen to have it really cheap. I know one guy was selling Gun X Sword complete signed by all the cast for 13 bucks. It was missing the slipcover and one disc was scratched but hey autographs.

Gun X Sword is basically Trigun mixed with Cowboy Bebop with giant robots.

And Adult Swim did air Code Geass. It bombed, badly.

Sadly it bombed but it still was a great anime no doubt about it. It was fantastic in a lot of ways. Only pain is collecting it. I managed to get R1 from some lady on eBay. She was selling the three collections that each housed two of the volumes in a "collectible slipcover" The slipcovers had tears and discoloration but it's whatever. I still can't manage to get R2 though.

Brown Paper solves everything.
All the world's problems, one brown sheet at a time.

It doesnt work if the box is heavy, which mine was. The Blue Exorcist and SOA boxes are actually pretty durable, it was just unfortunate that they were on the bottom lol. The Durarara!! tin should have been shipped separately, not wedged on the side.
