Yeah, the GameFly's deal's better.

I might've bit on GameFly's deal, if it was 66% off before any voucher.

I own Skyrim + Dragonborn, so I would be best off buying Dawnguard + Hearthfire w/ a 20% off coupon.

If you want to look at it this way - that would net me a free copy of Hearthfire.

Still - bleh.
So, I'm in the same boat. Do we pull the trigger on the Gamefly deal? That's a bit under $10 for those last two DLCs, and including Dragonborn, we end up getting all the DLCs for 66% off. Not terrible.

Wait, there's a mobile version of the game? I wasn't aware, I thought this was a PC-only title. I thought "how did these devs, with an early access game, get that kind of a promo?"
It was out on mobile for years before heading to PC. It's good morbid fun, though I haven't been able to stomach the 1400% Steam tax to pickup the PC version.

Pitched in some money on your page. Good luck with the fundraiser!
Thanks, Blade! You rock!

I would rather buy the game and have everything than get the game and then have to buy all the extra diseases and stuff piece by piece.

you should wait in case Josh pulls off an amazing deal for the dlc.

Fair enough, though I don't remember the version I played on iOS having microtransactions (not sure if they were always there or just recently added). Looking over the list it seems like they're mostly just early unlocks, but maybe I'm wrong in which case I guess $15 is fair if it includes it all (though I still have trouble getting over the sticker shock).

The version for Android (paid version, free version may not be the case) allows you to pay to unlock the diseases and dna upgrades sooner, otherwise you can just earn them all over the course of playing the game.

I can't comment on the IOS version since I have the Android version, but in the Android version buying the game doesn't get you everything. You still have to pay extra to get all the scenarios and you can pay extra to unlock more plagues. The game says you can unlock the plagues just by playing, but I'm not sure how. I beat the game with every plague in the paid version and 2 of them are still locked for me.

Overall the game is fun for a little bit until you figure out the formula to the game, then it becomes a joke. Once you realize how to beat it, you basically end up doing the same thing every time for just about every plague.

Yeah, pretty much what I thought. In which case I stand by my previous comment that the Steam tax is too damn high!

If I were to purchase Skyrim Legendary edition on Gamefly, would I get a steam key to gift to someone?
Skyrim: Legendary flat-out requires Steam everywhere on PC.

You would buy that key on GameFly - and then just flat-out give the key to someone else.

Don't activate it for yourself if you want to give it to someone else - if that's what you plan to.

Skyrim is NOT part of the extra copies program.

Not many games on Steam are.

Not many games on Steam are part of that extra copies program, where if you own a base-game + then you buy a Complete Edition (which has a copy of base-game you own), you do get extra copies of the stuff you own.

If you own Skyrim base-game + any DLC's - and then you buy + activate a Skyrim: Legendary key for yourself - you only get what you're missing (for the DLC's).

Uncertain.

It's not a CAG-type of sale - i.e. 75% off or better off lowest MSRP price for backlogging.

If you're playing ASAP, then that rule doesn't really apply here - b/c it's your call what's the price to play ASAP.

As CAG's, we normally try to avoid ASAP buying type of buying.

But. let's also keep in mind - BethSoft's DLC pricing of late has sucked for their major properties (Elder Scrolls, Dishonored, Fallout).

And, most of this DLC's been out for a few years.

Remember - GameFly has JUL20OFF coupon for extra 20% off.

According to ITAD...

Dawnguard ($9.99 before coupon / $7.49 after coupon) is listed as close to best sale price it's been (in terms of pennies before coupon), so far.

After coupon - best deal yet on it -> http://isthereanydeal.com/#/search:dawnguard;/scroll:%23gamelist

Dragonborn is same price as Dawnguard, but best price it's been was Amazon had it for $5 once >> http://isthereanydeal.com/#/page:game/info?plain=elderscrollsvskyrimdragonborn

Hearthfire's best price was $2 on GMG - so w/ coupon, it matches it -> http://isthereanydeal.com/#/page:game/info?plain=elderscrollsvskyrimhearthfire

That's how I interpreted it.
Re-read what I said carefully.

NO!

That's NOT how to interpret what I said!

If you own Skyrim base-game on your Steam account already....

...then you activate a Skyrim Legendary key....

...then you DO NOT get extra copies of Skyrim base-game.

You will ONLY get what the heck you're missing only (whatever DLC's you're missing).

To answer the question of should you buy something from Bethesda:

Are you going to play it right away?
If yes, buy it.
If no, wait for it to go on sale later for same price or (slim chance as of late) lower price.

Can't argue that.

The thing w/ BethSoft is - well, there's a good chance w/ their main games (Elder Scrolls + Fallout), you can justify buying stuff at a lower discount b/c their Complete Editions per play-through will normally easily net you over 100 hours w/out even using mods.

With Dishonored base-game + DLC's: that number of hours for time-playing per play-through is gonna matter depending on how much you explore in the game-world missions and if you do also side quests - since you could likely bowl through the game + DLC's pretty quickly if you stick to only main stuff; and not taking it slow + not stealthy.

Oh let him do it if he wants. Those prices aren't even that great but if he wants to risk it eh.

I don't especially think people should be posting less than legit sites here but we all talk about Russian traders and what not so that's not too far off ethically, if a bit safer. *shrug*

I absolutely look for at least 75% off. Like you, I pulled the trigger on the Amazon Dragonborn deal thinking the others would hit that level at some point.

The question is, when will Bethesda drop the MSRP, because they aren't budging on the percentage discount. If that's unlikely for some time, I might go ahead.

There's a definite line between the morally draw regional pricing market, and sites liable to scam you.
Yeah, it's why I mentioned keeping an eye on his bank account.

When you buy a game from a Steam gift seller in a different region, if you get scammed, you won't lose anything other than some TF2 keys or a few bucks (if you paid with gifted PayPal). But sites like these may use your payment info for other things. It just screams fly-by-night operation, the same kind you'd see in a street corner with a mustached dude screaming "GET YOUR HIGH QUALITY ROLEXES HERE" and when you realize the clock doesn't work he's already gone.

Disclaimer: I have a mustache.

Given how Zenimax been pricing things lately - i.e. better percent off + deals on Complete Ed's vs. buying DLC's piece-by-piece;

Given how both ESO + RAGE have disappointed sales-wises;

and given on Lord knows how much Zenimax spent on having RAGE and ESO for development + marketing...

...Who the hell knows!

{Shoulder shrug}

Hence why I'm still on the fence on this all - and still undecided.

Which is fine but if he's going to keep insisting the site is fine and safe and he bought from them before yadda yadda what are you going to do sit there and argue with him all night?

If you have a problem with him posting the link then just report it. He thinks the site is fine and he appears not to be changing his mind in spite of several people replying that it may be unsafe. I just think there's a point where someone is going to do what they're going to do and it's their money. I know this is the internet and everyone gets a say about everything but at a certain point if someone isn't going to change their mind then there's not much you can do and repeating does not help.

PS - can you not quote Ninja Squirrel in his Mary Mary Quite Contrariness to me in the future? Because I don't feel like reading it. Thanks.
