They have done blanket ISO/HP awards before. Would have personally preferred that over a token, but maybe I'll change my mind when I redeem it for a purple Deadpool.

It really comes down to what they are tracking, and do they have someone who can manipulate the data. Since that's my day job, I can easily think of ways to determine with 'close enough' accuracy to determine if someone would have played in the last hour. (Was last server login within X minutes of downtime, previous login patterns, +/- points player puts up in other recent events, etc.)

Hah I know, here is to hoping we all get crazy lucky pulls!

And yeah I agree it would be in the realm of possibility to have them able to track who would have likely played and what not but really it isn't worth their time. They know the people that it affected were likely a very small number of experienced players who are likely to continue playing regardless.

Not saying I agree, just saying that is their logic.

That being said I enjoy times I dont play MPQ, I get to read on the train again! Though now I am not reading novels but comics to fill the void. hahah Though I am DC at the moment. Never read all the way through the Blackest Night so I am starting that back up!

Speaking of, got my 10-pack this morning. I pulled 8 2*s, none of which I needed, a black Punisher, and

RED ODIN'S-BEARD 3* THOR

I was getting seriously bummed out because the first 7 were 2*s, then came Punisher (already maxed the way I want him), and then the golden hammer. I was so set up for the game to troll me with yellow or green.

Kind of a crappy 10-pack from a rarity perspective, but gave me one of the two covers I've been searching for, so I'm happy.

Actually, now that I look, not counting Fury, I'm only missing 3 base covers for all the 3*+ characters. Purple Magneto, black Stormhawk and purple Deadpool. And since black is the lowest tier reward level in PvP, I should be down to 2 by tomorrow.


(Also, may have already said it, but Steve and Hood go well together. Don't forget that you can use Hood's black to immediately cause any of Steve's countdowns that are at 1 to trigger. Only down side is the way I have them leveled: when Hood's boosted, he takes the blue and yellow Steve would normally take - makes him a little more squishy.)

Congrats!!!

And yeah I love Hood and Steve together but I have been having a hard time figuring out who to have as a third for perfect synergy. I like Hulk because he makes up for Hoods lack of HP as well as a nice usable Green move. You are still left without a usable Purple though, as is the case normally anyway however.

I'm guessing the same programmer who create the Sunder bug also worked on the TU coding.  Turn 3 got hit by a Wind Storm then a Adamantium Slash which took out my OBW.  Almost made a comeback but Punisher unloaded 2 moltovs, Judgement, and retribution to take me out and a Star-Spangled Avenger TU just for good measure.  Might be a sign for me to put the game away.  Little more than 1k from the 10 pack.

This is why I take breaks from playing in between major events. I get mad at the game too easily if I play it all the time. I only play major PvE events and sometimes some PvP. Nothing in between.

 
My 10-pack on Saturday was a little disappointing, with just one lthor and 2 johnny storms.

But today's 3 apology tokens had better luck - an ldaken and a doom.   :D/

I have not had much luck as of late with my pulls.

I got nothing but 2* trash in my 3 free tokens.

I am torn with this event. I dont really care for Spiderman right now and I have like no covers anyway. I really just want the progression reward of Deadpool. How they have been doing it though it has been fairly easy to gain the last reward, even when I hop on days later. I am not sure when I want to jump in to this event now : /

 
So I just redeemed my free TaT token, and the cover showed up immediately after pressing the button. Once I hit continue, I got the rarity graphic, then the cover graphic, then it showed the cover again. It was a shitty MoCap yellow, and since it only gave me one, I definitely didn't need to see that "eff you" twice.

One step forward (Deadpool), five steps back (graphic bugs, server problems, poor problem resolution, team up problems for us, team up bonuses for the computer).

 
Only got one apology token, and it was a red IM40.  That gives me 13 covers for him at 5/5/3, but about 80k iso from 166.  Don't think that will happen anytime soon.

Just remember, TaT is the event that's screwed up. The scaling usually goes crazy, giving you level 200+ opponents pretty quickly. Hopefully they fixed it.

Got an Aggressive Recon with my apology token. Woo.

Figured I will just play the PvP event for now then to get some more points for the season. Probably wont make the 10-pack but I want to at least get the Patch cover.

Then tomorrow after the PvP I will start the PvE most likely.

So I have had shit luck with pulls for a long while now and randomly on the train I was like... you know what, I feel REALLY lucky right now.

So I stared at the 3800HP Thick as Thieves 10-pack. I was like I am so going to get a Purple Deadpool from this, I just know it. *click*

I was wrong.

I got all fucking 2*s and then on the 8th pull I got another Black Stormhawk and then I actually did get a Deadpool on the 9th but it was his Red.

Both good in that I don't have them, bad in that I spent 3800 on essentially 2,000 ISO and then those two covers which I could have bought for 2500HP. Shitty gamble. I was stubborn though and was like fuck this I will buy the single Daily Deal pack and get it I know it. Nope. 2* Daken. Hahah this is why I have not bought a pack in months. Bah.

I am somehow holding strong at the top 5 in this PvP so my Stormhawk may be 1/1/3 this afternoon if all goes well.

Getting my Deadpool and playing this PvP got me thinking...

Thor, Deadpool and then Hood. That would be a great freaking team!

-Deadpool covers the usable Red and Purple, both doing substantial damage and Purple even covering the team. His passive Black means that if Hood does jump in front and is about to take damage he will jump in and protect him, keeping Hood's passive around longer.

-Thor covers even more damage with his Yellow and self fueling Green then which obviously does team damage too.

-Hood is ten there with his backup Yellow in case Thor is dead or I gain a ton all at once since his is better than Thors when maxed and then the usable Black for slight damage and then it can, if timed well, boost Deadpool's passive Black healing countdown tiles. Plus then obviously he is stealing AP the whole time from the other team with his passive Blue.

+All colors are accounted for in terms of match damage and then the only non-usable move then would be Blue but at least you have solid match damage for them all. At max level too Blue should be the only color that Hood takes and like I said Deadpool's passive should protect him especially since even at full health Hood has less health than Deadpool triggering the effect.

So yeah, now I REALLY need a freaking Purple Deadpool. hahah

Needs a Deadpool to do Thick as Thieves in order to get to 40k to get a Deadpool. Seems very limiting.

Grinded every node but 1 down to 10' and still barely holding onto top 10.  Can't touch the last node with the psycho Mag and Iron Man. Maggie keeps on feeding Mags to the point he's firing Magnetic Field or Magnetized Projectile and Iron Man is firing off his Armored Assault every round.

I will sometime later today. Not all that jazzed about more Spiderman covers. I have so few that getting them from this will not even do much and I have so many others that need ISO having more Spidey would just sit for a VERY long time anyway.

I of course will still play tons and help the Alliance, just saying though hah

First mini PvE event ends in about 2PM EST. Going to be tight to get the Dead Pool Progression prize if these nodes keep on giving squat points.

Ugh I havent either, I just logged into my steam account to see what was going on.

The first sub event ends IN 2 HOURS!!!!! So hot damn I have to jump in now & play for the next 2 hours. Thank God I have a steam account to check these things.

But looking at the rewards, do I really want to try? I mean Spiderman covers? Really?!?!? Have we ever really used that guy? To be honest Ive had more use out of Bagman than Spiderman.

I will be the first to admit he isn't the best 3*, but I use him regularly. Granted, I have him covered at 2/4/5 and leveled to 130.

He pairs up well with GSBW, and is my alternate teammate when Hulk is out. As you match purple to find ammo for her sniper, you're throwing out defense tiles left and right. The blue stun isn't nearly as good as it used to be, but comes in handy. And his yellow 'shields' are pretty darn good if you don't have another yellow power worth tossing out. Plus, he heals fast when not used.
 
How is everyone in the PvP?

I started yesterday and seemingly got into an amazing bracket. I have 494 points and am sitting fairly comfortable at #4 and shielded. I plan to check within the last ten minutes of play to see where I am in relation to others to keep my top 5 and will maybe play one or two quick ones right before the end, breaking my shield.

Seems super easy and low score to hold such a high spot and was hoping others were finding similar situations? Like I said I really have no use for Storm but might as well have her if I can. The 5k ISO will really help too. It will bring my Deadpool to 53 and then Hood up a level or two as well.

 
Was up to 18-in the Storm tournament, with 650 points. I'll have to be just content with top 25 and one cover for now.

 
Was bored with nothing to do so jumped into PvP, plus working on my season 4 progression rewards to at least get the green patch. 

(PS. Day 295, Green patch is the daily Reward)  So I'll have 2 more greens for patch in the days to come. 

Anyways, crap bracket, top 10 in the 1500 point range. yay me. Im at 220 with only 339 points, blah...

Got into PVE since it only has 2 hours left. Yep did not get into a good bracket there either.  I wasnt expecting to be #1 with only doing 2 essential nodes but you know?

Also since they gave out those "free" tokens, prgression rewards are kinda skimpy huh?  1 TaT token at 10k points? Thats it? Usually there are 2 tokens given during an event, regardless of sub event reward tokens.  Oh & Red deadpool at the top progression reward, red too, the 1 cover most of us already have. Why is it so hard for them to actually try to make the game better?  Its getting lazier and lazier.

Womp, that stinks man. As you know the game goes in spurts with luck so you just have to hold out a bit longer and you will soon be the one everyone is jealous of because of your crazy luck!

Speaking of Patch, what is the ideal build for him?

Mine is at a usable level and was curious what was best. It seemed like 3/5/5 but I havent really looked into it at all.

 
I think 3/5/5 and 5/5/3 are the two main Patch builds.

Is it me, or in the PvE subevent that's about to end, is the reward exactly the same for the top200 and top300?

I feel like 5 in yellow for healing is super necessary now especially with the True Healing patch.

Between his red and his green it seems like his red is favored then?

 
New tournament with Stormhawk has Deadpool rewards and the colors are flipped!

top 100 get a purple! then black and then red is the hardest to get! ! ! ! ! 

I dont know if I should wait to jump in last hour like usual or try what I did this last time because I got super lucky into an easy bracket where I got #4 with 494 points!

I would rather more Deadpool, but I can imagine how competitive it will be. Nabbed a black StormHawk in the last PvP, now mine is 0/3/1, but I need some iso to level her.

 
For some reason I thought the PvP ended at midnight and not noon but ended up in 94th.  Going to do both PvE and PvP since all I need is top 40 to get all 3 covers for Spiderman and would love to have a purple for Deadpool.

That node is ridiculous. My first attempt at it, I managed to beat it taking some serious damage.

My second attempt had three full health high level 3*s, two of which are maxed. First move by the AI started with a cascade from hell that killed one character. And of course, the cascade gave enough purple to Translocate Hulk into the ground after two more rounds. I didn't win, obviously. I keep forgetting retreating is a thing, should have done it after the cascade.

Red is best when he is leveled and paired with teammates who don't take too many of his colors, otherwise it's useless. Green is great for setting up other powers, especially team damage in another color like Rage of the Panther, can get attack tiles out, or if you can get rid of the enemy strike tiles you create quickly.

I see a lot of 5/3/5's, mostly because of Patchneto.

And I don't mind doing a PvP push. I can usually put up 700-1000 points, depending on what else is going on.
 
Well since I went out shopping when all the crap ended I did more horrible than I thought.

I got a red 2* thor & a TaT token.  Now here's the kicker, you try so hard for reward covers, getting into top placement in brackets.

Everything changes from a token and luck....didnt get a deadpool, but gotta say, quite happy with the pull.

I always took it that Dormammu was some type of laxitive, thats why its Dromammus Aid, he gets the colors and you beat the shit out of your opponents!

Seriously its shit like this that also kills the drive. We busted our ass for the blue hood alliance cover. I just wait & cross my fingers, hold my breath & the luck gods shit one out on a Event token. Happy I got another one yes, but damn.

But the game ALWAYS does that doesnt it?

UH YES! I loved that move of Wolverines, so quick and easy to spam when you would get cornered by the AI

Hahaha I played the crap out of those games since the original in arcades. I still play them all pretty frequently with friends!

Nope more like Stars and Stripes with Cap, Especially when you throw a Blue before you throw a Red.....cant let hulk get angry you know?

Anyways thinking about they put out too many characters at once and them getting lost in the shuffle, She Hulk.... Just gonna throw that out there. At least StormHawk is getting some rotation, She Hulk, not so much....Poor Cap Marvel I think she'll be swept under the rug as well. How can you compete with Deadpool?

 
The problem is that Shulkie and Carol are metagame solutions to problems the metagame isn't having.

She-Hulk is built to slow down opponents like Patch and Daken, but the targeting being random is pointless when you're running any characters who put out special tiles. Her red is 'eh', and, well, in-match healing isn't attractive to most players, even if paired with a random AP drain. At highest levels, she probably makes for a great defense character, but unless you're a whale, you aren't putting the resources here.

Captain Marvel seems like someone misunderstood the problem with Magneto. There really aren't any abusive defense tile powers out there, unless they plan on a LazyBullseye. Her black doesn't do enough, and that passive yellow would be great as a self-sustaining battery if it didn't require so much damage to trigger - you're getting hit by a power, not match damage.

So, that means the only time you're going to see them is when they get featured by the devs in events. I'm sure there's plenty of people running PvP with a maxed Deadpool already. Yesterday was the first time I saw anyone running Captain Marvel in PvP with extra covers, and I can't remember the last time I saw She-Hulk except for her node in Deadpool's event. And if people aren't using them in PvP, they tend to get an 'out of sight, out of mind' reputation. I mean, nobody is missing Daredevil or Invisible Woman, either.
 
Yeah I mirror exactly what Koju said about them.

I was just talking to my buddy (Juggernaut) about this this morning how I have all three of the new female characters, Shulk, Carol and Stormhawk all with some variation of like 3/1/1 or 1/1/3 at their soft cap of 68. They are all at that level of 'Okay if we are powered up we can be somewhat useful but only somewhat and nothing really beyond that' and I feel like that is how they will likely stay for a long while until new characters come up that make their powers more relevant.

I have run into a few Panthers and once Defense Grid really starts going it is a nightmare if you dont have any board clearing characters. In that situation Marvel really does shine though but that is about it.

I swear the game is messing with me.  I hit 10k for the Thick as Thieves token, the gold screen comes up again...black Human Torch...I can use it, but not Deadpool.  So two Thieves tokens, two three stars, red IM40 and black Torch.  Both useable, but such a tease. 

Good to see a green Patch coming for the daily rewards.  I really need a yellow, but, after the daily and the progression in PvP, that will give me 4 in green (4/1/0 when I get them), not that I use him unless he's featured, but it's progress.

 
So we are really lacking in the PvE right now guys!

It is a super easy event where just top 40 get all the covers!

I dont plan to use Spidey much at all but this event is pretty damn simple so we might as well play enough to get another free cover!

If you arent pushing PvE then you sure as shit better have at least 600 or so in the PvP later!

Speaking of the PvP, I started it this morning on the way to work and I dont know how well I will be doing : /

My Stormhawk boosted is like 95 or something and it seems like everyone I am facing has a fully maxed one, the few matches I played really left my guys bruised and beaten : (
