Because a good portion of them are exclusives they can still make money on... See the earlier post about the complete editions of Forza, DR3, and Ryse. EA isn't going to allow their games to go free because they have EA Access to promote.

You had to know it would be AT LEAST a year before X1 GwG was worth writing home about.

All these fucking error codes and disconnects are going to drive me to return Destiny. I've got my network properly configured and I've NEVER had so many problems with a game on any console (including PC) before.

That's kind of ridiculous. The discounts alone on PS+ more than pay for the sub for me (and many people who buy a fair amount of digital games, I'd imagine), although if you don't buy any digital games I guess it wouldn't work for you. I do buy a fair amount of digital games (for all platforms, PS3, PS4, and Vita).

 
Hey October is probably the strongest month yet for GwG on 360. Nice. Now if Sony would just freaking please me by putting Knack or Killzone SF on PS+ because that's the real disappointment (I have no interest in Knack and own disc of Killzone, but I just want to see them try harder). Lack of retail titles on the currentgen subscriptions is wild.

That's a quirk I've been curious about that the FAQ doesn't answer. If someone's already played a game before it goes free, will they get the credits for playing for 10 hours? What if they already purchased it digitally? Anyone try that with Reach? I'll find out if Gears 3 or either Borderlands end up being GwG.

Anyone get the 1,000 credit reward multiple times for playing multiple free games 10 hours each, mixing the 360 and XB1 games?

 
We get 1 free game next month for X1 and it's an indie title. Thanks a lot Microsoft..  :roll: 

At least I paid off Forza Horizon 2 in full so I can enjoy that in October.

So far my crazy plan to start Eli over Rodgers is working.

I haven't seen my Rewards update lately, but i own Reach already digitally and left it on for roughly 10 hours, (a few hours over a span of 3 days), and im waiting on those points to show up. ill leave it on tonight all night to be sure, ill get back to everyone with the results.

That's a quirk I've been curious about that the FAQ doesn't answer. If someone's already played a game before it goes free, will they get the credits for playing for 10 hours? What if they already purchased it digitally? Anyone try that with Reach? I'll find out if Gears 3 or either Borderlands end up being GwG.

The 10 hours thing is just for spending 10 hours with it during the month of its availability, right?

Looking at the FAQ, the 10 hours only works for the first 14 days of the month for XB1 titles. Xbox 360 makes more sense for that rule.

There's also this in the TOS:

"Download, gameplay or purchase prior to being a Xbox Live Rewards Gold member will not qualify."

That kind of says to me that if you purchased it before Games with Gold, you're SOL, but I could be wrong about that interpretation.

My credits for Reach showed up today but were back dated to 9/21, which fits with the 96 hour time frame mentioned in their FAQ.

That's what I gather, spend 10 hours playing during the first 14 days it's free. The TOS says the 1k credits are for "download and gameplay", so the digital purchase as a freebie is probably a requirement. The DLC purchase credits may not require making the freebie "purchase", though, as things are currently written.

Giving the FAQ a closer reading, it does say that "You can earn up to 3,000 Rewards Credits for each eligible Games with Gold title." (emphasis added), so it looks like the 1k and 2k credit rewards can be earned for multiple games in a month. Though the FAQ does appear to conflict with the TOS, which says "You will receive an additional two thousand (2,000) Rewards Credits for each eligible Game add-on purchase made within fourteen (14) days of its announcement as a Games with Gold featured title.", implying purchasing multiple DLCs for a game will result in multiple credit deposits, yet there's a 3k credit limit per game. Guess we'll have to wait and see.

There's more value and shelf life to the first year's worth of retail titles in a new generation, plus the marketing boost it can give to their digital offerings can be more valuable this early on. I'd say Sony's done a much better job with that than MS since they focus solely on new PSN games for PS+ for the first seven or eight months at least to capitalize on the quick growth of their digital offerings.

Yeah but we're also getting two games a month (or more at times with cross buy) and multiple games have been part of it on day one.

As pointed out, i guess there's no problem in already owning a new GwG, as long as you download it again during promotion and play a fresh new ten hours. We will know eventually.

On another note, if any of you don't already own "Syndicate" here ffs GET the digital edition!!!!  Syndicate is really good, it just wasn't worth $50-60 but what games nowadays are.

 
'darn it bear' October GwG seems to be a shining star. Two GoDs is what I like! and I don't have both, glad I didn't grab Darksiders 2 digital when it was on sale for $10 and now it's free *evil laugh*  :twisted:

Anyone know how the Xbox Rewards Punch Cards work? I just preordered Shadows of Mordor last night but it still says I need to purchase 3 games. Does it just need time to update?

 
How would a 500GB external HDD go for?  Might go up to a 1TB, but doubt I honestly need that much more space.

45GB is going to take up a good chunk of what's left with MCC, Sunset Overdrive, and Advanced Warfare coming.

Protip if you ever have to call Time Warner tech support: call customer service and ask to be transferred to Level 3 tech support.  You won't wait for hours on end on hold that way.  You'll get through almost instantly.

 
I'm mostly just curious as to why since it's on sale this week on PSN and if it's facing some sort of weird delisting over there too I might buy it.
