Video Game KickStarters for CCG Fans

Sometimes Kickstarters are a gamble, but both of these look like they're already pretty well developed. That's a pretty good indication that they will complete the project. Of the two, I'm more excited about Battle Realms but they both look great.

tempted to toss 5 to them

Same thread, got put on hold pending approval from CheapyD. I'm still waiting on a number of KS games. But I've had a number completed...all of which are awesome (Divinity, Wasteland 2, and War of Omens...which happens to also be a CCG...particularly).

Is this the 3rd time you posted this "deal"?
I'm still waiting on my KS games so this is of no interest to me

I'd be curious to know why this thread was approved, and why the mods are making such a big deal about people asking.
I do not know the answer as to why CheapyD approved this, you will need to PM him to find out. I just want the arguments to stop cause each useless reply is just going to bump this thread to the top of the forum.

htz the other problem beside the arguing now though is now threads like this one that was posted few minutes ago that probably wasnt approved http://www.cheapassgamer.com/topic/336487-kickstarter-for-sps-fans/#entry12138708 is going to start cluttering the forum burying sales and deals threads off the front page.

Ive been on this board for 9 years! and this doesnt make sense. Very un-Cag like in ever way. However its Cheapys site, he can do as he pleases. No reason to argue about it. I imagine Cheapy is getting kickbacks to advertise this here? I dont really mind that either if it helps the site. As long as we dont get hundreds of these type of threads.

On topic I do enjoy kickstarter games if they offer nice incentives like collecters guides and one of a kind items but not sure about these...

Maybe Cheapy and company worked a deal with this particular kickstarter.  Not my thing, I do hope that this is funded.  Some of the characters' faces remind me of Farmville.

nope he getting no kickbacks he even said it in the op he getting nothing out of it
"These are NOT affiliate links, nor am I associated with either campaign in any way."

Actually it IS a deal. It's just not a discount. But I'm not arguing with you over it. Take it up with CheapyD.

Because it's not a deal. That mod seems to be as confused by this thread as everyone else.

CheapyD works in strange and mysterious ways.

People post pre-orders for collectors editions, etc all the time and it doesn't seem to be a problem.  This is similar.  If you have an issue, you can send me message or email at cheapyd/gmail.  If you are posting to troll, you will be moderated.  Thank you for your cooperation

EDIT: I'm happy to have the community vote and discuss the issue here: http://www.cheapassgamer.com/topic/336488-should-we-allow-kickstarters-in-the-vgd-forum/

Actually, it's not even a product. Even if this thing gets funded, you have no guarantee that this won't go the way of Yogventures or Clang.

And I'm not arguing about this thread being here, just making observations. If CheapyD says this thread belongs here, then it belongs here. But you can't blame people for asking questions.

I think Camwi nailed it on the head.  Just because you back a kickstarter and it gets funded doesn't mean that you will actually get anything and you will be out your money.  I can preorder a collectors edition from Amazon and if it doesn't ship I'm not out that money.

This. Thanks Cheapy. Sorry for the hassle; just wanted to draw attention to some games that look cool.

Whether it's a product or not doesn't negate that it's a deal. See Cheapy's post. People preorder all the time. And because you are potentially funding the game, for many tiers you ARE getting a discount as well. Please note I'm not arguing the point; just responding in kind since your questions actually seem legitimate rather than trolling like a few others.

But now you're talking about the nature of Kickstarter, which doesn't really have anything to do with this. It's like complaining that a thread about a deal at Best Buy should be deleted because you don't like doing business with them. If you don't like Kickstarter, don't use it. For me it's not an issue. And both of these games are very near to completion, with gameplay videos to prove it.

htz if possible you might want to at least temporariy edit the op to include that link for the poll if possible, in case your post get buried in the thread so everyone has a chance to see the link for the poll

It really doesn't matter if you feel this doesn't belong. If CheapyD approves it that is good enough. His word is law here. Period. Don't like it ignore it and move on.

Personally, I would actually like to see some kind of mega-thread for crowdfunded games.

Collectors editions are different and a lot of time have high resale value. a deal. kickstarter is a crap shoot never know what you are going to get and it is far from a deal

Well, just wait for the next Kickstarter that goes vaporware and half the posters are out of their money.  Then I bet it will be an easy call..

By the mods, who set up a specific page to discuss this issue. If you don't like it, post about it there. All other such discussions here have been deleted.

Why would he get deleted? And why do you feel you can dictate who would get deleted? I'm totally confused here.
See above. I never said I can dictate it; it's up to the mods.

The amount of one star votes this thead has received has to be a record.

The most ironic part of this whole thing is that the OP has probably done far more to harm the project than good in posting it here.  I'm someone who has backed over 100 video game projects on Kickstarter and this isn't something I will even bother to look into because of the arrogance and belligerence of the OP and frankly the feeling that a community I have been part of for many years is being flooded by something that clearly doesn't belong here.

Wow, the butthurt backseat modding going on here.  Some people here get so mad at so many posts on here.  Do you all have high blood pressure cause of this?

This is...wow. I think you might be confusing me (the OP) with someone else. I'm not sure where you think I've been belligerent OR arrogant, but the fact that you (a self-professing big supporter of video games on Kickstarter) are willing to hurt the developers of these projects because you're mad at me (or whatever) is just...wow.

It's really odd, isn't it. I certainly didn't expect this reaction. I figured gamers who enjoy finding out about games would welcome, you know...finding out about games. Evidently not. There are a LOT of people that really don't like Kickstarter. Who knew?

Eminence: Xander's Tales is only 2600 pounds from being funded. Looks like they will make funding. Good for them. The game actually looks like a fun time.

You can't really be that naive, can you? Kickstarter has become more and more controversial over time as fraudulent projects have emerged, final products haven't been what backers expected and delays have become more and more common. Kickstarter is a weird mix between an investment, a donation and a preorder. As such, there is a lot of uncertainty about it, not the least of which is that you may spend significant money and never see anything in return or you may end up with something that isn't very good or not what you and the other backers hoped or expected. That's just the nature of crowdfunding for better or for worse.

As for your conduct, you posted this multiple times to a deal forum and when the mods deleted it, you simply reposted it. While ultimately the owner of the site sided with you but then apparently moved it to a news forum that was more appropriate, the classy and reasonable thing for you to have done would have been to simply move on instead of making a stink about it and attacking long time community members. Personally, if you're the kind of person that supports these campaigns, I'm certainly not going to lend them my support as they are apparently attracting an arrogant and juvenile element that strikes me as a bad use of my hard earned money.

Yeah they're close. I REALLY hope Battle Realms makes it, but Eminence looks really cool too.

As for your first part, you give an explanation of why people don't like Kickstarter. That's fine. But that's not what we're talking about here. In fact, it has nothing to do with the issue at hand.

Re: the second part, I posted the same thread. It was disabled by htz until CheapyD could give approval, which he did. He moved it here temporarily while he makes a permanent decision. I haven't made a stink. I've done exactly what I was asked to do, which was post in the poll thread my reasoning for the inclusion of Kickstarter campaigns in the deals thread. I didn't attack any long-time community members (or anyone else). Honestly. I think you have either mistaken me for someone else, or you have misread my posts completely. Otherwise please demonstrate how I have attacked anyone in any way.

Your last sentence is too childish to warrant a response.

The thing I like about Eminence is the rpg mixed with card battle. It also looks okay for kids. This is important when looking for mobile games on my phone.

The art in Battle Realms looks great. The art is all they show in the video.

They have a number of other videos further down the page that showcase other aspects of the game. And it looks awesome.

I actually would be ok with Kickstarter on the deals forum if it was one that had early backer teirs because those are usually a better value (all Kickstarter issues and assumptions aside of course)
